Immortal Desires Anthology – Review by Shannon Fowler

Immortal DesiresImmortal Desires by Melanie James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This anthology is a collection of stories that all have to do with…immortals. Vampires, shifters, ghosts just to name a few. With so many great stories, this anthology is sure to have something for everyone.

I recommend the story by Jennifer Theriot called Flirty Dancing because it was a mix of utter sadness and far-fetched hilarity! No one really knows what happens to us after our deaths and Theriot gives us just one view with this easy fun read.

If you’re looking for a different kind of immortal…like say a wolf shifter? Check out the story by Nicole Garcia called For Haven’s Sake. After reading this story, the title takes on a different meaning. Great story but the ending just means there HAS to be more to come! Right?!
You can’t go wrong with this anthology!

Yearning Young (Burning Britely Book 2) by Deidre Huesmann – Review by Maura Harper

Yearning Young (Burning Britely #2)Yearning Young by Deidre Huesmann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an amazing book. There is so much I could go on and on about this story but I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I’m going to do a top 5 list…

TOP FIVE THINGS I LOVED ABOUT THIS BOOK

1. Characters are so well developed in the scope and emotion that they are written in. It is like reading from a journal of someone currently experiencing this life.

2. Different POV than the first book. It was cool to hear another voice tell part of the story.

3. Friendships

4. Emotions- I cried and chuckled and cheered.

5. Quick and easy read that is complex and doesn’t short change the characters.

I absolutely recommend this story and this series.

The Billionaire and the Therapist (Clean Billionaire Romance Reads Book 1) by Kim Koby – Review by Michelle Mulvey

The Billionaire and the Therapist (Clean Billionaire Romance Reads, #1)The Billionaire and the Therapist by Kim Koby
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Billionaire and the Therapist by Kim Koby is Book 1 of the Clean Billionaire Romance Reads. I thought this book was great from the beginning. Natalie is a therapist who has a past. She is hiding out in Texas hoping her past won’t find her. She gets a call about a possible job working with the Callahan family. Catherine Callahan is a 7 year old girl who had witnessed the unthinkable. To lose a parent at that age is just heartbreaking but to witness it firsthand is even worse.

John convinces Natalie to sign a one year contract and he will pay any amount of money just to hear his daughter talk again. Obviously John and Natalie are attracted to each other but try to remain as professional as possible. When John starts seeing small positive changes in Catherine, he cannot hide his feelings much more.

When Natalie gets a letter from someone in her past she gets a little worried wondering how he has found her. John vows to protect her and his family.

The characters were good, the writing was good and the story itself was good. It was a little short but worth spending the night at home with a glass of wine.

Age of Saints (Druid’s Brooch Series #7) by Christy Nicholas – Review by Sarah Oakes

Age of Saints (Druid's Brooch #7)Age of Saints by Christy Nicholas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a great read about protection. Conall lives his life as a mason apprentice who has a secret, a magical brooch given to him by his father. He lived a normal life until his world is turned upside down when his stepfather tries to hurt his little sister, Lainn. Fleeing from him, they find themselves on an adventure filled with dangers and wonders alike. Can they find safety somewhere?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Conall trying to look out for his family no matter what or Lainn’s carefree spirit or the gentle old wise man of Adhna;  a great villainous figure in Setna, cruel but believable.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel in the sense of the ancient world with the little wooden houses in the forest with the hearth fire and stables as if you were actually there. Or the sense of nature like with Adhna’s house, small and thatched but full of moss and flowers with bee hives and ravens and local resources.
Or the sense of ancient lore and fantasy with the druids and the standing stones; and its sense of wonder with the arch of trees and the glade and the waterfalls for the sense of a hidden and sacred world full of magic and song as if you had stepped back in time. Also loved the use of Irish language and pronunciations at the start which was a lovely touch and added to the character of the novel. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

Wtf, God?: Understanding God in the Midst of Transition by Michelle N. Onuorah

It’s a book that made me question my idea of having a relationship with God. The book is based on her life obstacles and her relationship with God. This title alone is what made me even consider this book; since yes I have gotten to that point myself. Overall I think this book does a great job of making you reflect on your hardships and faith. This book by no means forces you to do anything; on the contrary I think reading about her highs and lows has made it easier for me to dissect mine. I have even partaken in some of her suggestions. I would definitely recommend this book to those who question if god is even listening to them, if anything it’ll probably get you speaking to him again.

Yearning Young (Burning Britely #2)
By Deidre Huesmann
Rated 5 stars!!

I loved this book! I was so happy when I spotted it and couldn’t wait to get to it on my TBR. We meet up with the boys after “the incident” from the last book. This is Braeden’s story to tell and boy Oh boy it will keep you glued to this book. Prepare for late night reading. Braeden is somewhat questioning his path and trying to figure out answers and keep his home life afloat. How he balances everything is beyond me. Practice I guess. Jeff! Jeff! You impressed me immensely! I don’t want to say much but you are amazing! I was impressed with you in the last book and you just keep raising the bar! I had many emotions while reading this. I snickered, had a few tears, was worried and impressed. These two boys and (Maya) hold a special place in my heart. Being a teenager is hard enough…..

This is the second in the series and I was pleased to enjoy reading the continuing story of Jeff and Braeden. Life is not going to be easy but their strength of character is impressive. I wonder what will happen after the summer is over?

This story flows easily. I started this and struggled to put it down. I was thinking about these two even at work today. Trying to help them out with ideas. The characters are flawless and enjoyable to read about. Another stellar story by Deidre Huesmann.

The Billionaire and the Therapist (Clean Billionaire Romance Reads Book 1) by Kim Koby – Review by Robin Rankin

The Billionaire and the Therapist (Clean Billionaire Romance Reads, #1)The Billionaire and the Therapist by Kim Koby
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Billionaire and the Therapist by Kim Koby is the first book in the Clean Billionaire Romance Reads. It was a sweet story, though I felt like it was a little too short and a few areas where she didn’t go into enough detail for my taste.

John has been dealing with the loss of his wife for two years now, but the way his daughter, Catherine has started handling it has him concerned and contacting a therapist who comes highly recommended.

Natalie is an amazing children’s therapist, she loves her job and has no idea what to expect when she meets John and Catherine. But she has a past she’s running from which could effect not only treating Catherine but everything.

I love my romance books and all that comes with them but I didn’t miss any of that here. It was actually kinda nice change.

I recommend giving this book a chance.

Captivated by the Millionaire is my first read from author Nina Singh, and it has now given me a new author to look out for.
This was a captivating read with two characters that while at first glance and read, really do not seem like they could be a couple, but the more you read and the more interactions that Jess & Jordan have you can see that the developing connection that they have could end up being the perfect thing for them both. This is a quick easy read, that’s heartwarming and real. With real characters that you can’t help but feel for and love through-out their journey. This was a great feel-good romance read that’s captivating and engaging from the start, and I’m glad I got the chance to read it! Age of Saints (Druid’s Brooch Series #7) by Christy Nicholas – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Age of Saints (Druid's Brooch #7)Age of Saints by Christy Nicholas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Age of Saints is the seventh book in Christy Nicholas’ Druid’s Brooch Series. The series consists of stories following the same family at different points in history, and a magical heirloom which plays a significant role in each of their stories. The books are not chronological, jumping between different centuries, and can be read as standalones or as part of the series.
What I really like about this series is the extent to which it is grounded in history and traditional folklore. Nicholas paints a vivid picture of every time and place we encounter, and doesn’t miss an opportunity to teach us a bit about life at the time. Age of Saints is no different – I swear I could smell the smoke and mud in the roundhouses!
Age of Saints follows Conall, who inherited the brooch from his father, and his sister Lainn. They are on the run from their abusive stepfather, desperate to find safety and reluctant to trust anyone. There’s a good dynamic between Conall and Lainn – they are protective and caring towards each other but with a healthy amount of teasing when safety allows for it.
I particularly enjoyed the animal characters. Lainn is able to communicate with them, and so they play a significant part in the story. Barnabus the bee is probably my favourite…
For me, this is a five star book. I love the rich, magical world Nicholas describes. I enjoy learning bits of Irish Gaelic and Irish history and how the fantasy elements draw on folklore and tradition. I’d recommend the series to fans of historical fantasy, particularly with an interest in Celtic settings.

Blade learned at a very young age, not to trust women. Woman are good for one thing, and one thing only. If that’s how he really feels, why is his mind falling so hard. He also has a hidden talent, one he planned never to reveal.
Tasha has gotten herself in quite the predicament, she made a huge mistake to trust a man. Now she is running for her life. She is a very strong woman, and can take care of herself. Until she can’t! Her only friend is Tommy, and he is out to get Rash help!

Manda Mellett has done it again. I absolutely love this series. This is an extremely fast paced story. Once you start you can’t put it down. I love her characters as well! Blade and Tash have a long road to travel. But the love of the Satan’s Devils will keep them strong. They may not be blood, but they are family. Bea Stevens is without a doubt one of my all-time favorite authors! Her writing style is clear and free flowing and I always get pulled in from the get-go. If The Shoe Fits is the third book in The Liberty Lawrence series and my favorite so far! I would highly suggest reading this series in order as each new book follows the last.

Liberty Lawrence is such a memorable character, she’s dramatic, intense, curious, at times oblivious and a true shopaholic with a heart of gold. Bea has created a character that always manages to have me laughing, I really have no complaints about this series at all.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next rom-com, it’s one that shouldn’t be missed!

The Slip Series Collection by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Tracy Wilkin

The Slip Series CollectionThe Slip Series Collection by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Slip series is a collection of three extremely hilarious stories by ultra talented author Gwyn McNamee. They comprise of Dickslip, Nipslip and Beaver Blunder. They are highly entertaining and some of the best written books I have ever read.

Dickslip

The title of this book was the first tick in the awesome box. The author was the second. I enjoyed this story with wild abandon. A guaranteed 5 star author, I knew this was going to keep me immersed and invested for hours.

Rafe is hilarious from the get go, and Andy a force to be reckoned with. Individually, these characters shined and delivered elements of humour, attraction, dramatics and edge. Together they sizzled. From one chapter to the next, there was always a lot going on. Crisis after crisis, Rafe and Andy handled everything thrown at them with wit, clumsy finesse, and passion.

I was totally enraptured by this latest incredible read by Gwyn McNamee. An assured top quality story that has a bit of everything. Readers will want to add this to their to be read list. A definite five star story.

Nipslip

Nipslip is book two in the Slip series by Gwyn McNamee. me just say how much I adore this author. These stories are short, sexy, very funny, slightly mysterious and hugely dramatic. These stories captivate and impress me infinately. Gwyn McNamee is such a talented author and one of my favourite.

The leading lady doesn’t have a lot of luck when a wardrobe mishap befalls her. Tate was a witness and was immediately inrigued by this stunning woman. The story just evolves beautifully, like slowly blooming flower. But tuere was nothing slow about the heat and intensity between these two. The story started out fast paced and rocketed to the finish way too soon. I would love to have kept reading this incredible story. 5 stars.

Beaver Blunder

Beaver Blunder is book three in the Scandalous Slipup series by Gwyn McNamee. It is yet another hilarious and sexy short story by an edgy author that is not afraid to change it up and create stories that are unforgettable. There are so many facets to these stories it is hard to put into words just how powerful and entertaining they are. Each character is one of a kind, and even though the storylines highlight some of the more embarrassing moments in these characters lives, each one is unique and offer a reader so much more than the standard rom com. I cannot get enough of these types of stories.

Madeline and Owen kept me awake and dreaming them when I slept. These characters will stay in my heart and mind always. 5 stars.

A must read series that is side splitting fun and will leave you with everlasting fond memories.

Desperately Seeking Sixty-Nine (The Green Room Chronicles #1)Desperately Seeking Sixty-Nine by J.D. Frettier
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Desperately Seeking Sixty-Nine: A Spicy Romantic Comedy About the Afterlife by J.D. Frettier is the first book in The Green Room series. I was not sure what to expect with this book when I saw the cover and title but was pleasantly surprised. This is a short, fun, and humorous read. Bonnie has passed away and is greeted by her friend, Dee, to the Green Room. She teaches her the ropes and this allows Bonnie all sorts of abilities. I really enjoyed the interactions between Bonnie and her husband. I really wanted them to find each other again.
The characters are fun and written well. The story is short but it works and doesn’t over do the story by dragging it out. It was written with an open ending to allow for continuation of the story. I look forward to more from JD Frettier in the future.

An Appointment (Summer in New York #4) by Lindsay Marie Miller
5 out of 5 stars

An Appointment is the fourth book in the Summer in New York series written by Lindsay Marie Miller and I have read all four book in this series and they just get better with each book. The characters are amazing. The plot of two broken people with horrible exe’s and how they find each other and heal each other; and the description of the Hamptons and the pier in NY was great.

Savannah’s life hasn’t turned out the way she planned. Her marriage has failed and she is left alone to raise her son. Her ex-husband moved on as soon as the divorce was final. She thinks all she needs to keep her happy is her son Tre but you could tell she wasn’t happy.
One day she takes Tre to the doctor’s and when the doctor walks in, he isn’t the 70 year old doctor but his son Preston or as Tre calls him Dr. Cole. He may be a hot sexy doctor who loves kids and is single but she’s not taking a chance with her heart again.
Preston hasn’t had the best years of his life either. His wife left him for a plastic surgeon after he couldn’t give her what she wanted. On top of all that thanks to her hefty spending, now he has a quarter million dollars of debt. So much for true love.
So when Savannah walks into his office with her son, holy hell, he wants to get to know her.  He doesn’t care that she is feisty and stubborn, he likes a good challenge.
Will Preston wear Savannah down? Can they overcome the betrayal of their exes to move forward? You will have to read this story to find out.
I highly recommend this book/series…

This is the story of Michelle Onuorah who by the age of 22 thought she had the world by the tail and her life all planned out and what happens when she realizes nothing ever goes according to plan. This book is a quick and funny read. I was very wary of the book but I actually loved it. It’s basically the story of a young girl who thinks her life will turn out one way and of course it doesn’t. It tells the time old story that our lives are not written in stone and many things will happen to us, some good, some bad, but we always have to get back up and start over. Michelle shares with us the 10 life lessons she’s learned about God and teaches us that it’s ok to worship God and still question Him. I really enjoyed this short read.

This is the second book that I have read by this author now and I love that I always feel like I am transported to the country or place where her stories are based. I have always wanted to visit Italy and through Ms Amman’s beautifully vivid descriptions I almost feel like I have been. It was a really unique story that definitely made me stop and think a few times. I enjoyed reading about the complexities in human relationships sometimes and how many times opposites definitely attract!
The pace of the story was slow and it did take a while to get going but I didn’t really mind that. I felt like I got to know the characters well and it meant I could really enjoy the author’s beautiful writing. I read the first book in this series and this one is the sixth but is easily read as a standalone.

This collection was completely awesome…Im not normally a major paranormal fan but this collection had some authors that I have read before and absolutely loved. By taking a chance on this I now have added to this list and have new authors that I must read more from. I must also mention that the fact that the proceeds from this box set benefit The American Cancer Society was the first reason I grabbed it and Im thankful I did because I sincerely enjoyed it.

Some of the stories I truly wish had been longer but many of them are part of a series so I can solve that by grabbing those. One of many of my favorites of the whole collection is Flirty Dancing by Jennifer Theriot…I’ve read the few before that story and if your curious at all read them, although I can see Flirty being read as a standalone..you would get much more enjoyment if you had all the back stories from the other characters in this story. It’s a fun read yet also has those times that make you sad and find yourself feeling the feelings that Kitty was feeling and I loved that the author could do this.

Another of my favorites was On The Run by Casey Hagen…This one grabbed me in the first chapter and I was laughing out loud through most of it…I have already bookmarked this author’s other books as her writing style was amazing.

I wish I could write full reviews of all of the stories but that would take me way too long so I will just stop here and say you must pick this collection, for many reasons, but one of the main is these are all 5 star authors and even though I’m not normally a paranormal fan…these stories had me totally wrapped.

Loved it!

This is a box set by several different authors all writing paranormal stories. There are stories for everyone whether they love vampires, dragons, shifters or ghosts. All the men are hot, hot and hot! The stories are sexy and thrilling.

Conjuring Darkness by Melanie James

This story is about witches, sacrifices and demons from before biblical times. Kate is an archaeologist stuck in the desert and sends for her sister Lexi to bring her a coin from her house. What ensues is an adventure filled with love, danger and death. With twists and turns, you’ll be wondering what happens next.

For Haven’s Sake by Nicole Garcia

I loved this short novella! This is a romance between Haven and Jax. Haven runs an animal sanctuary whose life changes for the better when Jax ( a werewolf) asks for a job. There is the added suspense and danger with someone chasing Jax. I fell in love with these two characters and would be thrilled to read more about them.

His Dream Mate by Madison Sevier

This story is also about wolf shifters. Nova has the added power of being able to dream walk. Every night she feels the pull and enters someone’s dreams. She has done things that she is not proud of and now she is in danger. It’s up to Jax to protect her even if it’s from herself. Can she learn to trust him again after all his past transgressions?

I feel this anthology is well worth the time you’ll spend reading it. These are well written stories from very talented authors. Each one is unique and attention grabbing. I highly recommend this box set.

Wowo! There is A LOT of stuff going on in this book. Make sure you bring your thinking caps. I was confused for about the first three chapters. Then is settled down and I could easily follow along. But about three-fourths of the way through a lot of stuff from the past started coming to light. Now I am not sure if some of these were touched on in the previous two books. If so, maybe I would have been able to make connections better.

We are following along on two different stories. One person is afraid of being killed while the other is looking for someone that went missing. They randomly meet and find out they know a bunch of the same people. Now I really liked Kiley. I would love to have even a small bit of her talent.

This book is full of intrigue, suspense and love. It is well written and the characters all are busy. There is a lot of activity and plots to follow so again…..bring your thinking cap.

The Protector: MACThe Protector: MAC by Lisa B. Kamps
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Protector: MAC: A Cover Six Security Novel by Lisa B. Kamps is a mystery, suspense, romance story that has your heart pumping right from the very start and doesn’t let up until the final page. There is danger and intrigue, drama and mystery, twists and turns that keep you on your toes. I found myself lost in the story, where dangerous liaisons are more than they seem, secrets and cover ups could find you running for your life and scandals that will bring down those at the top, are the name of the game. As I navigated along this journey with the wonderful characters and hot and sexy alpha military men and one sassy woman, I found myself being transported right into their world along with them. The connection Mac and TR have is smoking and sizzles right across the pages.

Gordon MacGregor ‘Mac’ is a man that is used to danger, but when he sees the woman he is in knots about in an accident right before his eyes, he realizes he has never know true fear.

Tabitha Meyers ‘TR’ is a woman who is used to doing things herself. She is one sweet but feisty and sassy, strong and independent woman, but she soon finds her life being threatened. Mac and his team are the ones to keep her safe. But amongst all the turmoil and danger, is she at risk of losing her heart to this possessive man in the process.

I really enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to see what Lisa has in store for the rest of the remarkable Cover Six team.

Happily. Ever After?: An Italian Relationship. (The Italian Saga Book 6) by Gaia B. Amman is about loving so much that you are prepared to put up with anything and is one story I have very mixed emotions about because I would never, ever put up with what our main female character did. Having said that though, it is also an adventure of sorts as Gaia vividly gives a look at Italy and the fun banter amongst friends. This is a very emotional read and at times I found the story to be a little slow but picked up closer to the ending. I was often so angry at the main male character and wanted to throw the book and give up but perseverance won out and I finished it and I am glad I did.

Fortitude by Carrie Dalby – Review by Tracy Wilkin

FortitudeFortitude by Carrie Dalby
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fortitude is a historical romance by Carrie Dalby. I was excited to go for a spin with this author, as I haven’t read her work before, and I am always keen to try something new and take a chance on the unknown and exciting.

Fortitude is a riveting tale set in 1898, and the leading character, Claire, had her work cut out for her. She went against the norm, in a somewhat volatile world. From having a Creole as a best friend and nursing the enemy, Claire went against the grain, not fitting into what was acceptable by society at the time. This story was so easy to read, so easy to relate to, so easy to escape into. I loved the way the author described her characters, the plot and the old style way. I love reading about the past, and this author’s spin on it was fantastic. An epic story that I totally disappeared in. 5 stars.

This well written story is sweet and leaves the reader smiling as he/she makes their way through a presidential campaign. I found the characters to be engaging and the story, although a bit predictable. To be sweet and unassuming. A sweet tale that I will gladly recommend to others.

Dancing Queen By Charlotte Roth is very heartwarming yet inspirational story that I loved reading. I couldn’t put it down till the end. Some parts had my emotions all over the place. Fiona and Stu had me feeling like I was on an emotional rollercoaster ride with up and downs and a twist or two.i can relate to Fiona and her struggles and its definitely hard. But Stugives her hope. What happens when she’s talked into entering a dance competition? I highly recommend reading this book especially if you want to know what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.
