Bad Things Happen by Rowena Holloway is the first book in the Ashes to Ashes series. Charlotte Ashe is a tv weather girl who is looking for her big break into serious stories. When footballer, Joey Baptiste, gives her the story of a lifetime it is signing his own death warrant. Can Charlotte figure out this story or will Joey’s death be in vain? This is an intriguing book with good characters and story. It felt a bit disjointed at times because it jumps time periods but I get why the author was doing this in the end. Overall I enjoyed this read and look forward to more in the series. Charlotte is interesting and there seems to be much more to her story that wasn’t revealed in this book.

T. Birmingham did it again. I love Written in the Stars. That does not mean I do not love A Terrible Beauty because I do. I just love Winter and Eagle characters. Again this is a sensitive subject matter and there is still the warning for older teens and adults only. This story has suspense, military romance, and even some thriller mixed in. This installment is about Winter and Eagle. Eagle is the president of the Fallen Eagles and Winter runs the Salon in town. There is a mystery that has come knocking on the door of the town. Will everyone come together to protect each other or will there be a fall out and no one is safe? I hope you enjoy this story and remember to keep tissues close by.

T. Birmingham took sensitive subject matters and created a wonderful book series, Fallen Eagles MC Series. Book 1 is A Terrible Beauty which is a novella and a great opening to say the least. The way Birmingham brought the characters to life on the page is outstanding. I felt like I was there watching everything transpire. I will have to say that there are some adult subject matters and I would recommend this story to be for older teens (16 & 17) and adults. This story is a suspense and military romance genre. Birmingham sent me on a roller coaster ride with my emotions and found it difficult at some points within the story. When I found that happening I had to reassure myself it was a fiction book. This story is about Kit and Lee and everything around them. I hope you enjoy this story as well as I have and remember keep tissues by you while reading.

The Shape of Trust (Stand by Me #5) By Brinda Berry Rated 5 stars
This is another super book in the Stand By Me Series. I have read quite a few of this series. This is a interesting one that deals with some tough decisions for both characters. It was all blended well together. I liked each of the main characters and the story was good. The connection between Webb and Lily was very believable. I enjoyed their time together as much as they did. Learning, talking and laughing. That kissing!?!? Meltdown!
Webb has struggles in his life but his most recent is staying away from Lily who he considers “too young” for him. When he hires her for a job the struggle is harder because being around her all the time makes him only think of one thing. When they talk about the physical ”age” difference vs the mental one it’s mentioned by Lily that:
“ It’s not the days that make up a life, you know. It’s the experiences.”
I thought that was so profound. Great line!
I struggled with his daughter sometimes because a 5yo would not be okay with her grandma leaving her with someone she doesn’t know. ….and not crying for her mom all the time. That just seemed weird. She acts like she is perfectly fine living with a man she has never seen. Plus the words she uses and actions make her seem older than her age. I just wish this would Have been addressed at least for a little bit. Then have her adjust to her new life. She is a cute addition to the story so I can fault for that addition.
Again this is not my first book by this author. It is probably my second favorite of the series. I like that the author doesn’t shy away from real problems and uses them to show how people can move forward in life.

Full Glasses and Burju Shoes By Blake Blessing. From page one I knew I was in for an emotional journey with the two amazing main characters. Each one having such a different story to tell but coming together in this amazing story. The author does a wonderful job of writing characters you can’t help but root for and connect with. There’s definitely some highs and lows for Emil and Perrin but it’s a wonderful story to watch unfold between them and their past haunts. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. The characters are complex and believable. I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read more from this author. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it to everyone.
Just when you think this author cannot write another 5 star read along she comes with Tapped and in my opinion blows all of her other stories out of the water (and I loved all of those too!!) – If I could give this more than 5 stars I would because honestly it deserves it. Ms Anders had me hanging on her every word with this book and I didn’t want it to end. Janae and Kai = perfection! I loved them together and I wanted nothing more than for them to find their happily ever after together. There was everything that I love reading about in this book, humour, sensual moments, hot and steamy times. The chemistry between them was completely believable at all times and it continued throughout the book. I loved that characters from previous books were back and also the introduction of a new, intriguing character too. I thought that Tapped was a fantastic read and I absolutely loved it! I will eagerly be waiting for whatever is next from this extremely talented author!

Wow what a novel it pulled me in right from the start keeping my full attention right til the very end. It was a quick read but packed one hell of a punch and left you wanting more! Tapped is book three in The Night Moves series by Tarrah Anders. This author never ceases to impress, amaze and inspire me. I cannot get enough and absorb each word like vital air.
Janae and Kai had a history, so meeting again was a shock for Janae. She still feels the same after all those years apart, but she tries to deny those feelings. Kai is having none of it and is prepared for the long and arduous task of winning her back. Their chemistry is inspiring. The way they integrate in every situation and environment is incredible. The trust and love they have for one another warms the heart and increases breathlessness.
Tapped was a romance about a love rediscovered, a love that survived time and distance, a love that just gets stronger every day. Tarrah Anders writes a tantalising story that will never leave your memory and make you crazy for more. 5 stars.

Full Glasses and Burju Shoes was a wonderful read. This is the second book that I have read by this author and I really love her writing style. I fell in love with the characters Perrin and Emil. I loved Perrin’s fun and caring attitude, she was a really nice person albeit a little guarded when it came to her emotions. Emil, I just loved him – there were times where I could have cried for him and thought the author portrayed his character so well, I could really feel the way he felt after serving and then returning to civilian life. The author really brought these characters to life and made me fall in love in love with them and in turn I was rooting for them to find their happiness all the way through. The writing of this story is completely flawless and it was an absolute pleasure to read. I 100% recommend this story and I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

This is a hilarious romance that once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. The story flows and her characters are very well developed. I think this is my favorite from this series.Brett and Liv oh my! These two especially liv had me chuckling at times.From the “friends” zone to crush. Can these two get out of the friend zone? A Suitable Affair is the first book in The Macalisters Series by Erica Taylor. This is a really great historical/regency romance- full of mystery, drama, revenge, humour, and so much more. Ms. Taylor is a mew-to-me author whose work I am happy to have discovered as she certainly knows how to tell a clever, captivating story. Lady Susanna Macalister is twenty-two years old, which in 1830’s London society is getting very close to becoming an old maid. Susanna feels she has a duty to her family to find a suitable husband and takes her responsibility quite seriously. But she feels time slipping away from her, and feels her options are running out. It’s not that she wasn’t beautiful, or independently wealthy- it was her overly protective brother/s, her status, and her confident, non-conformity that had the gentlemen shying away. All except Lord Riverton who had been courting her for the past few months. She expected he would propose any day now, and that should have pleased her, but she just wasn’t all that excited by the thought. He would make a fine husband, safe, reliable, stable and ‘proper’……and oh so boring. She was afraid she was ‘settling’, instead of holding out for an epic romance- one that would sweep her off her feet and leave her breathless. But the chances of that happening are quite slim. It is hard for me, yet again, to come up with the words to properly describe how wonderful of a novel Gwyn McNamee has penned with Building Storm. Truly and utterly stunning… I was left lost in my thoughts for a few days before I could come to this review. I have been anticipating this book for some time now as it is the fourth novel in McNamee’s Hawke Family Series. I highly suggest you read the other books in the series and in order before you read this book. This is not a standalone novel! I knew to expect a book that would give me some feels and some steamy sass that we just can’t find anywhere else but with Gwyn McNamee but wow, I had no idea this was coming. It was absolutely beyond expectations! As for plot details and info… you won’t find that here… you will have to scoop this up for yourself. Excellent book from beginning to end. This regency romance kept me enthralled throughout. It was clever, with witty dialogue and lokeable characters. Shadow’s Keep is not the first book I’ve read by this author and most certainly will not be my last. My genre of choice is a good thriller and let me just say Meghan O’Flynn has writing a good thriller down to a science! The plot twists and turns were heart pounding and I can tell you with complete honesty I did not have this one figured out. There is so much I want to say about this book yet I am completely speechless. If you like dark, twisted, suspenseful stories then this book, this author is for you. 5 stars for sure! This is the fifth book in the “Carolina Connections” series and can absolutely be read as a stand-alone.
As with the other stories in this series, THE WAY YOU ARE is a classic rom-com. The story has a great group of friends, romance,new beginnings, and a dog that is almost bigger than the MC.
This is a quick story with a smart woman, a not “classically alpha guy”, a couple of ball players, and a character who (like me) is obsessed with Olivia Newton John.
I absolutely recommend this author, this books and this series.

Yes PLEASE! Give me more books like this Blake Blessing! I’m a true hardcore fan! This book took me from one emotion to the next in two point two seconds. I adored every second of it and I couldn’t get enough. Blessing has only given us two novels and I have had the pleasure of reading both, and the breadth of the genres can only attest more to her skill to weave a multifaceted story.
Full Glasses and Burju Shoes was an emotional read with strong and emotional characters. Both, Emil and Perrin shine but for different reasons. It is this balance in their characteristics that make them work so well together in the book. These two just heal one another, and the process in raw, real, provocative, and adventurous. Most of all I really took away the reminder to live life with ‘full glasses.’ Thanks for the fabulous read Ms. Blessing. I can’t wait to see what will come next!
Player by Pamela DuMond left me wanting more. This is a cliffhanger and I’m usually too impatient to wait for the next book. I’m ready for the next book in the series but I knew going in what I was in for.
Evelyn has so many big heavy thing put on her shoulders at such a young age. With bills piling up she did what she had to do to keep her head above water. In my younger years I would have judged someone for doing what Evelyn did. But with age comes wisdom and I get it now.
I’m curious to see where this adventure takes us. What’s going to happen? Is she going to find love? Happiness? I certainly hope so.
If you’re on the fence about reading this book just do it.

Shadow’s Keep: A Novel was a 5 star must read. Wow, where to start with my review. I was pulled in right from the beginning.
William, who is the sheriff of Graybel happens to come across a body of a child while out in the woods. What appears to be a dog attack, quickly changes into something more sinister. Now that there are more murders in the area, he suspects it may be a serial killer. Will he be able to solve the mystery before anyone else is hurt?
I don’t want to say anything else to give this great read away. You have to read this for yourself. There were several twists, turns and shocking moments that added great elements to this dark and gritty read. All of the characters were great. Meghan O’Flynn does a great job of pulling you right in with her writing, you feel like your right there with the characters. The ending as left me confused and shocked.I am reeling after this read, my emotions were all over the place.

Brett’s personality was awesome. He reminds me a lot of my husband. Excellent novel!

The Way You Are by Sylvie Stewart is the fifth installment of The Carolina Connections series. This story is a romantic comedy about Liv and Brett. Liv is not only beautiful, she smart and her boyfriend is a local baseball player. She meets Brett at one of the local baseball games her boyfriend and cousin was playing. Brett is handsome and always placed on the “friend zone,” girls always see him as great friend. As the saying goes, girls can’t be friends with boys, might just backfire on Liv and Brett. Will the opportunity arise for these two to finally hook up? Sylvie Stewart writes a seamless storyline that captures you attention from the beginning, from the chapter titles to the sarcasm. Characters are well developed and easy to hate or love, depending who they are in the story. I have read other books from this series and I enjoyed reading this installment. I recommend reading from the first book to learn more about each of the characters that are represented in each book.

A Suitable Affair (The Macalisters #1) by Erica Taylor was an entertaining, enagain read, that kept me reading until the very end.
My first read from this author, I dove into this book head first not even looking at the reviews, because with that beautiful cover and steller synopsis, there was no need to look any further, well for me anyways. It was a prize gamble because this book drew me in from that first page, that first meeting, and it kept my attention right until the last word was read.
Detail with beautiful writing and rich multi layer characters, this historical fiction has a little bit of everything. You can tell care and research went into making this read as authentic as possible, especially in regards to social etiquette for that time. I fell right away for our lead MC Susanna. She was definitely a head of her time, while trying to follow the strict social rules and expectations for women of that era. I loved her snarky remarks, and how she managed to be witty and sarcastic, while keeping within those norms. I got a little North and South feel, and that connection just made this story all the more enjoyable.
The only thing that got me down, was Westcott, and how though he wanted to be with her, properly court her and marry, he pushed Susanna into trying to break some of those genteel lady rules, that could have severely tarnished her reputation. As nice and sweet as the guy was, (don’t get me wrong I love him as the lead male MC), I felt like he was a little removed from what social norms were. But at the same time, I do get again how that came about, as he does mention that he never really got into the courts, because he left London pretty much as soon as he was able. I believe that the amount of pushing, was for me, longer than necessary.
Overall this book has mystery, romance, witty engaging dialogue, and a multi layer plot, that will keep you on your toes. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval that you will fall for this seamly at odds pair, and have you before you know it, rooting for them.

Written in the stars was a great 5 star read and book two in the Fallen Eagles MC series. This is Eagle and Winter’s story. I highly suggest reading book one first. Eagle is the president of the Fallen Eagles MC. Winter is a strong woman who owns her own salon.
He had one of those voices, complete with a slight Texas twang, that wrapped around you like a silk tie secured to your wrists as you wantonly clung to the ecstasy of a forbidden moment. -Winter
When there is a murder things take an interesting twist. I love a read that has me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what is going on and this one didn’t disappoint.
There is so much going on in this book on top of the connection between Eagle and Winter. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. We get suspense, romance, mystery, and so much more. My emotions were all over the place, I was exhausted. T. Birmingham does a great job with detail and pulls you right in with her writing. Note that there are some dark elements in the story as well. This is a must read series.

Hmm I want to write a review that does this book justice, yet reveals nothing that might be a spoiler.
I went into this story “blind”. I did not read the blurb, I did not read reviews, I didn’t even know the genre. Honestly, based on the cover I thought it was a “cozy mystery” (it is not).
This is the story of “Ann, queen of the eternally-freshly-coiffed-dos” who moved to a (name of town changed to protect the innocent… hehe) for a fresh start. It is told in third person “to make it a little easier on you to read”.
The story is extremely detailed and while I enjoyed reading it, I must confess to skipping ahead because I had no clue what was going to happen.
There is a very clear beginning, middle, and end. The story had me chuckling, shrugging my shoulders in wonder, and gave me the occasional jaw drop.
This is one of those books that I enjoyed but wouldn’t be able to explain why in less than a full recap.
Much like the author, I am also a fan of the Oxford Comma so I will recommend it based on that alone :).

Player (21st Century Courtesan Book 1) by Pamela Dumond sucked me in from the very beginning. I really felt connected with the characters and she did a wonderful job of making them come to life in words. I love that the main character’s job is a teacher by day. It makes the story all the more interesting and realistic. The story had me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book, and I hated to put it down. This is a great way to start the new year, with a new author and new series. I really loved it and can’t wait to read more by this author. I give this book an easy 5 stars! <3

This is book two in the Fallen Eagles MC series and out of the two, it is my favorite! I love older men! Davis…strong, protective, safe…sigh…and Winter, shy, fierce, original…love her!
I read the first story in this series and was hoping there would be more! Now that I have read this book I am still wanting to read more about this awesome group of characters. I love the names of the Markham sisters. I love the relationships that develop through out this story. I love the mystery (although the deaths not so much).
I highly recommend you check out this book as well as the rest of the series.

Shadow’s Keep by Meghan O’Flynn is another thrilling read by a great author. I have read other books and sort of knew what to expect but I did not know what to expect completely. The story is well done and had me drawn in quickly. I like reading this author because she delves into dark places and there are always twists and turns. The story is well done and kept me on the edge of my seat. I did not want to put the book down because I wanted to see where the story went. The characters are interesting and I like that they have decisions to make not that everything is always easy peasy. I will be on the lookout for more from this author.
This is the first book I have read from this author and wow she blew my mind. I absolutely love a good friend to lovers story but this author exceeded all my expectations. This is the fifth book of the Carolina Connection series. You can read this book as a stand alone just like I did but there are other characters in this story as well. I was hooked on this storyline right from the beginning. It only took me a little over a few hours to devour this incredible book.
Olivia loves her life, a hot boyfriend, really good friends, and exceeding in school. She goes to a baseball game and she runs into a very handsome guy. Olivia feels a connection to him but she is seeing someone. She wants this guy in her life so she offers him to be friends. Olivia gets to know the real Brett and she realizes that she has crush on this guy. She can’t get Brett out of her mind but she has a boyfriend. Olivia can tell that Brett wants to be more than friends. Will Olivia and Brett stay friends or can they be more?
I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all, hot romance, humor, and baseball. You will fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Olivia is a sweetheart that knows what she wants. She can be a little fiery when she needs to be. Brett is a nice guy that always gets put into the friend zone. He is very sweet and handsome. The way he treats Olivia will make your heart melt. These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your temperature rise. This talented author will keep you on your toes until the end. After reading this book I now want to know more about these other characters. I will be starting this series from the beginning.

Nite Fire: Chain Reaction by C.L. Schneider is the second book in the series. I recommend reading this in order and not as a standalone. The story continues with Dahlia Nite and her partner Alex Creed investigating mysterious deaths that are not discerning of whom they affect. This book did not let me down. I was drawn in and did not want to put it down until I finished. The story and the characters are well done. I really like Dahlia and that she is strong and smart but also has a soft heart. She is a great character. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
