Four Stars

Dahlia was a warrior, a dragon that put fear into you with just her name. Until she is branded a traitor. Emotions are a foreign thing to Dahlia. The story was intriguing and violent. The thought of what could be other worlds next to us is kind of creepy. I liked that the author made her female lead so strong I just didn’t like how she kept pushing people away. There wasn’t very much character development but Dahlia did grow with every loss. I definitely liked the story for its details. The way the author described the dragons was scary and beautiful. It also was nice not to have so much focused on the main characters love life. Though I wish that the relationship with other characters was better developed. Also the reason for the deaths was just meh is wasn’t what I thought it would be.

  1. Beneath the Surface by Amy McKinley is the 3rd book in the Gray Ghost series. This book is as exciting and fast paced as the previous books in the series. The plot keeps twisting and turning and really keeps you on the edge of your seat.
    These two characters also have to be my favourite so far. You could feel the chemistry absolutely popping off the page. Even when you had no clue as to how the story would end you knew you wanted these two to work things out.
    Any McKinley has created a brilliant and adventurous series that I would highly recommend.

Tapped (The Night Moves Book 3) by Tarrah Anders

I’ve lost track of how many of this authors books I have read, I absolutely love all that she writes and will continue reading everything she comes out with.

I loved this story, second chances are always a winner for me and I loved the little bit of drama that went with it..The ending was my favorite of all of her endings and I could close my eyes and actually feel like I was right there watching it all happen. I think I could have actually done without the character of Slater in this story, or most of his part anyway and it actually scared me a bit that this story was going to end a totally different way and I’m so thankful it did not.

Even though this story is #3 in the Night Moves Series it can absolutely be read as a stand alone but the other two were completely amazing so pick them up as well, you won’t be sorry.

Can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next, but rest assured I’ll be one of the first in line for whatever that might be.

This story had me guessing all the way through until the end. Meghan O’Flynn has become one of my favorite authors. She has a way of keeping the hints very subtle and the story moving ahead. If you are not careful you will miss some important parts. There was a couple of sections when I was turning the page and I had to go back and reread the sentence or sentences. The characters are fully developed. This is a very dark twisted novel. I will admit that I was scared out of my mind at times. That is what I love about this author. I can be totally scared thinking that this is happening in the woods behind my house when I know that this is a fictitious story. I hope that you enjoy this book as much as I did.

The Way You Are (Carolina Connections Book 5) is by Sylvie Stewart. This book immediately had me hooked and I just couldn’t put it down. And was very sad when it was over! I’ll be going back to read the others for sure though. I read this as a standalone without any confusion but like I said I’ll be getting the others for sure. I love stories about the “underdog “ friend leaving the friend zone. It reminds me of my own love story. These two characters drew me into their world and I had so much fun watching them interact. Their chemistry jumps off the pages. It’s well written and paced nicely with characters you enjoy. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it.

I have to say I have a slight obsession with Sylvie Stewart’s Carolina Connections series. They are the BEST laugh out loud books that have a whole ton of heart that I have read in a long time. Each one of these books can be read as a standalone but I HIGHLY suggest reading them all!

I loved Brett. He’s up for having a relationship but just can’t find the right woman to fill that spot so he takes up time by living the bachelor life and playing baseball. Liv is a die hard fan and is a loud one at that. Her heckling has made Brett turn his attention on her and the sparks flew BUT she has a boyfriend. Being friends is all he’ll get but the attraction is undeniable.

I loved the characters and the witty banter they have. This was a delicious and hilarious slow burn that everyone needs to read!

Shadow’s Keep: A Novel by Meghan O’Flynn. This author knows how to write a book that not only keeps you guessing and thinking it also keeps you on the edge of your seat. From page one readers are taken on a dark and twisted journey that will leave you breathless by the end. Feeling like you have well and truly been through this story with it’s characters not just reading from the sidelines. The attention to details is one of my favorite things about this story. And the characters are complex and relatable. The entire book had me completely drawn in and I read well into the night because I had to know everything. It’s well written and paced nicely, never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I can’t wait to read more from this author. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it to everyone.

Tapped, by Tarrah Anders, is the third book in the Night Moves series. This contemporary romance brings Kai and Janae together in the most unlikely of places after years apart. This story was a fun read and the locale where it was set was perfectly described and in tune with the overall story. The way Tarrah Anders tackled this second chance romance was ingenious and I really liked how she overlaid several different dynamics within the story itself to create a multi-dimensional story with intrigue and attraction. I don’t want to give away any details of the story, the characters each have their own lives they’ve been living and choices that have shaped who they presently are. How they maneuver around one another in the present was evident of that, but how they come together was amazing. Tarrah Anders did a remarkable job with this story.

An Italian Adventure was a really great read. The first book that I have read by this author and I was really impressed with her beautifully detailed writing. I loved the setting for the story and found through the author’s wonderful descriptions I could imagine the place where Leda grew up. I found the characters really interesting to read about and I liked getting to know them as they grew up. There were a few intertwining story lines for Leda and Nico and it was interesting to read how they both dealt with different situations that happen as you grow up. It was easy to tell at times that the author was using real life experiences as a base because of the feel to the story but for me I loved that as it made it even more realistic to read.
I thought that this was definitely a great read and a good start to this series; I am very much looking forward to reading book 2!

A great read about struggling. Amy McKinsey has it all, with a successful career and a job she loves. While holidaying with her friends, she runs into Richie and falls in love with him. Things are going really well on holiday but it’s a different story when they return home. Work gets in the way of their relationship and makes Richie stressed and distant. In desperation, Amy makes a Christmas wish to help but will it come true?
A great read with a well developed plot. Well developed characters like Amy standing up for herself but caring underneath or Richie as the successful businessman but kind underneath.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel with the beauty and calm of the beach and the bright colourful sunset in wonder and beautifully written in moments of peace.  And the Christmas scenes in the town with the lights and market is colour-full and filled with life and people with the sights of lights and smells like the cider and touch of the soft scarf. Or the sense of magic and wonder at Christmas and snow at Central Park perfectly written.
I liked the very day sense of the novel with two ordinary people struggling through life. The only issue I would raise is that there was often a lot of repetition in places. If this was resolved, it would be five stars. Overall, a great read and I give four stars.

Player is the first book in the 21st Century Courtesan series by Pamela DuMond. I had never previously read any of the author’s work before but I was intrigued by the blurb and decided to give it a go.
The book was well written, with really great characters and it was flowing really well, then it just…ended. I was rather thrown by the ending. It felt like the book just came to an abrupt halt and I wasn’t prepared for it to be over. I still had so many questions that hadn’t been answered yet. At least it didn’t leave you on a cliff hanger. I just need to hope that book 2 in this series will continue Evie and Dylan’s story as I really need to know what the future holds for them.
I totally adored the main character Evelyn (Evie) Berlinger. Evie is a kindergarten teacher by day and high class escort by night. She has a special gift, as an empath, she is able to feel the feelings of those around her, leading to her helping them to get over any issues they may have. This gift makes her services sought after through the escort agency she belongs to.
As an escort Evie never actually had sex with any of her clients. That is, until she met high stakes poker played Dylan McAlister. There is an undeniable connection between the two of them. Just as the plot gets really interesting around these two, the book comes to an end. Praying that their story will continue in the next installment in this series.

Written in the Stars is another 5-star romance thriller by one of my new favorite authors, T. Birmingham. Just like the first book of this series I was captivated from the start and I ended up reading this book in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to put it down. I would suggest reading this series in order as the storyline follows book 1 and the characters are all previously introduced.

Winter and Davis are my fave couple of this series, they have an undeniable connection that had me rooting for them from the first book, and I was certainly not disappointed by their story! It was intense, romantic, detailed, captivating and highly entertaining. Everything I hoped it would be and more!

I would absolutely recommend this book and series to anyone looking for an emotional one of a kind romance.

This was a very enjoyable read. I just couldn’t pull myself away from my kindle until I reached the end. I loved the banter between the characters. They had me laughing out loud on many occasions or smiling like the joker! The story line was brilliant, certainly is a page turner and kept me on my toes throughout. It’s one of those novels that once you start you just lose yourself in the pages and you visualize yourself right there. It takes you away from reality that’s for sure. I can’t wait to read more from this author!!

This is a Historical Romance story that you must read. This is one of my favorites for this gene, I can’t wait to read more by this author. This is a well written story that held my attention to the end. It pulled me right into the twists and turns. The characters are awesome. They are strong, Susanna is my favorite she is so selfless. Ian has some guilt that he needs to heal from. They have great chemistry that it made the story easy flowing, I loved reading it. This is a must read story!

I enjoyed her character, she just wants something else with her kids gone, it is her time to live. This is a fun, creative story that I highly recommend reading.

The story The Future Memoir of Ann Jones: A Time Travel Romance with a Splash of Magic by Alex Bailey is a book that has quite an unusual storyline and interesting/intriguing characters. The description of the story caught my interest and once I started, I was hooked. There is mystery, romance, stories told, and also situations that had me wondering what was going on and what would happen next. I enjoyed reading about the character of Ann Jones. She is a woman who is at times stubborn. There is the Knitting Club in which she has joined. It sounds like a typical group in which the members get together with a common interest. Why are there rules to this club that have nothing to do with knitting? The members of the Knitting Club each have their own personalities and were very entertaining to read about. The story had me glued to the pages until I had finished. The book flows smoothly and the storyline creative. It is a story I would recommend reading.

Wow what an awesome start to a new series! I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked this book up but I enjoyed it and I am looking forward to reading more of the series. The author’s writing style was great, I was sucked in from page one and I couldn’t put it down. The characters were well developed and I felt like I was in Dahlia’s shoes as everything was happening. It was action packed and full of twist and turns! It didn’t end in a cliffhanger but there are hints that leave you wanting to read more. Go get this book now, because I would recommend it reading it asap.

The vividness that is written is compelling and nightmare inducing but you can not stop this crazy ride, page after page is turned to find out what happens. Meghan cleverly infuses clues in her twists and turns that you don’t see until the explosive and shocking end, in fact you can never guess where the story is going so it certainly keeps you on your toes..

I recommend you read this book if you love a thriller that is dark and oh so twisted.

The Way You Are (Carolina Connections Book 5) by Sylvie Stewart ​is another remarkable story that is fun and captivating. It is a quick read that is an enthralling page turner and is told in several POV’s, which I love. It is a little quirky in its telling as is Sylvie’s way and her characters will find their way into your heart. The main characters are wonderfully cute as they dance around one another.

Brett is a gentleman who is sweet and adorable and every woman’s dream. Liv is a bad arse and far from shy, she loves what she does and those she is loyal to. Together they are hilarious and so so sexy mexy and hot, hot, hot, if only they can get on the same page.

This is an easy, light and fun read that absolutely needs to be on your read list.

The story A Suitable Affair (The Macalisters Book 1) by Erica Taylor is a historical romance book. This is a story that transports you to a time of society functions, formal balls, and rules of propriety. It is a book that hooked me in from the very beginning and I got lost in the pages. I enjoyed the plot/storyline and loved reading about the characters of Lady Susanna Macalister and Ian Carlisle, the Earl of Westcott. Susanna is a woman who shows strength, is intelligent, generous, and kind. She also is unmarried. I like the fact that Susanna is someone who while doesn’t disregard all of the rules of society, she is a woman who will push their limits. She lives in a time when scandal can ruin a life and just rumors can hurt a reputation. She finds herself being called on by a man that she doesn’t quite understand or have strong feelings for. Ian is a man whose past haunts him. He feels guilt over his sister’s death and his life seems to be surrounded in darkness. That is why he feels that he must save Susanna from the man that he holds responsible for his sister’s death. Susanna soon finds herself with feelings for Ian. He says that he has nothing to offer her. Is that really true? What does the future hold for Susanna and Ian? Read this book to find out. This is a story that I just couldn’t put down until I had finished it. I had to know how it ends. There is some mystery and times when you wonder how much danger some of the characters are in. I could feel the passion and desire growing between Susanna and Ian and there are some steamy moments between them. There is also flirting and bantering. I grew to care about Susanna and Ian and found myself wanting them to find happiness. Will they find a HEA? There are also other characters that I enjoyed reading about and the part that they play in the story. This is a story I never wanted to end.

Shadow’s Keep is a novel by Meghan O’Flynn. A first read for me by this author, so this story was like unwrapping a gift. A gift that just kept on giving. The blurb says it all. Desperation, obsession, protection, and much, much more.

William is a detective a little jaded. Things are happening and the evidence doesn’t add up. He is desperate to unravel this mystery, so the town can have closure and to bring an end to the violence and loss. Je has a mammoth task ahead. This hits him personally, as he must protect his girlfriend Cassie and her son. These characters had many layers that were begging to be unveiled. A mystery beckoning.

Shadow’s Keep is a super suspenseful and psychological mystery. It will keep a reader on the edge, bordering on terrified and paranoid, in a totally enthralling way. Fearfully perfect reading. Meghan O’Flynn is a talent that will mess with your mind and have you checking under the bed. 5 stars.

Shadow’s Keep: A Novel by Meghan O’Flynn is another fantastic thriller from this creative genius. I have relished every moment that I have spent exploring all her books, and this one is definitely one of my favourites. Ms. O’Flynn has a real knack for creating a story that not only is engrossing and completely holds your attention, but she is able to build gripping tension and heart-pounding suspense- and made me breathless with anticipation.
Ms. O’Flynn has woven a compelling, creepy story- full of interconnected details, multiple layers, intrigue, danger, mystery, drama, thrills, and chills. She kept me guessing the whole way through. I devoured the book in one sitting, glued to the pages, desperately trying to figure out what was happening.
I am not going to give anything away, or discuss aspects of the story, as I think the blurb does a better job of that than I could ever do, and without giving away any spoilers- but, I recommend going into the story somewhat ‘blind’ and let yourself get swept away by what you will find.
The story definitely lived up to its promise of being dark and intense- with twists you definitely won’t see coming.

Full Glasses and Burju Shoes by Blake Blessing is such a beautiful story. I really didn’t expect to love it as much as I do. I had read and absolutely loved her fantasy story, ‘Marks of the Mazza’, so when I saw she had released a new book, I knew I had to read it. I wasn’t sure what to expect going in, as this wasn’t a fantasy that I knew Ms. Blessing excelled at- it is more of a wounded warrior story, so I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this one as much. Well, even though this is different to her previous book, it is also good! Ms. Blessing has proven to be a great writer who can create a great read, no matter the genre.
The characters are beautifully developed and fully realised individuals, with their own complex personalities, but they are also incredibly interesting and endearing as well.
Highly Recommended Reading!!!

An Italian Adventure is the first book in The Italian Saga Series by Gaia B. Amman. The story is a fictionalized memoir of the author’s younger years, set against the backdrop of Italy in the 1980’s. It is so much more than I expected, and I loved reading this wonderful coming of age story full of friendship, bonds, love, dreams, adventure, discovery, hope, challenges, learning, and being true to yourself.
The story turned out to be a delightful, fun adventure. There were touching moments that warmed my heart as did the wonderful character/s, who easily pulled me into the story and took me on An Italian Adventure. The entire package, from storyline, scene setting, and well-rounded characters was entirely believable and relatable.
A lovely story that I am happy to recommend, and I look forward to reading the rest of the series!

Nite Fire: Flash Point is the first book in C. L. Schneider’s new series. It is a four star novel. Even though paranormal fantasy is not a normal genre for me to read, I still found this novel moved me and made me continue reading to find out what was going to happen next. The author was able to real me in with her excellent storytelling and realistic fiction. Have you ever wondered if there were “others” living among us? I know I have. Dahlias able to blend in with the humans because she is half human and half dragon. Although she was raised by the dragons, she has since flew the coup and has hidden herself among the humans on earth. She finds it necessary to try to disguise the “others” existence by having the humans see something else and cover up their crimes enough that they look like they could have been committed by a human. Only problem is that now it might be getting to be too much for her and the people looking for her are getting closer to bringing her back home.

I love reading and experiencing an author such as T. Birmingham. I enjoyed going into Written in the Stars and seeing where the writer took this story into. It was just as refreshing as I’d expected it to be. I loved the characters and how well they were developed. I loved seeing the relationships grow and get to where they needed to be. So very impressed! Anyone can tell you that fantasy is so not my genre to read, but I was intrigued and now I’m very impressed. Nite Fire: Flash Point is book 1 in the series by C. L. Schneider. This book follows Dahlia Nite who is a shifter that worked for Queen Naalish in the world of Dimera. Dahlia is half human and half dragon. Queen Naalish strips her of title of Executioner and sentences her to be executed herself. Obviously, Dahlia is a fighter so she flees to the human world. There she travels from place to place where she doesn’t stay very long. Essentially, she fights what is lurking in the shadows to stay alive. She ends up back in the town that she continues to return to because it was the one place that she truly loved. Now she is helping the police to solve a crime. This book was pretty amazing in the sense that the author sucks you in from the beginning and keeps you there the entire book! Not only is the storyline great but so is the way that the author describes things. She makes you feel like you are truly a part of the story. I do recommend this book and actually cannot wait to read the second book in the series. This book is about a strong woman heroine and her ability to continue to fight. You will not be disappointed.

From the synopsis I knew this book would be one I would enjoy. Once I dove in, I found an unexpected emotiona depth as our heroine navigated personal and professional struggles. This was the first book I have read by this author and I found it to be an easy and enjoyable read. If you are looking for a heartwarming holiday story, this one is for you.

The Way You Are by Sylvie Stewart
Five Stars

The Way You Are is the fifth book in The Carolina Connections series by Sylvie Stewart. This book can be read as a standalone, but I don’t have one reason why you would want to skip the first four. They are all excellent reads with all the feels, and this story is no exception. This book had me hooked from the very first page and I stayed up half the night finishing it (definitely worth losing sleep over). This book features Liz and Brett’s story. It is witty and sweet, heartwarming and heartbreaking at time. I’m totally drawn to these characters and Ms. Stewart really makes you feel like you are right there with them. I love it when a book makes me laugh out loud or reach for a tissue and this book fitthat requirement. This is my favorite of the series so far, and I really can’t wait to see what Sylvie Stewart will dream up for us next.

Wow this book took me on a dark and thrilling adventure. This isn’t the first book I have read by this author so I knew this book would be good and it turned out to be great. The author does an amazing job bringing me into the story so much so that I couldn’t put the book down till I finished it. There is definitely an unexpected twist that you won’t see coming even if you think you have it figured out. As I’m reading I’m trying to figure out who the killer is and hoping nobody else gets hurt as if I’m really in this story, that’s how good this author weaves this awesome story. I loved every minute of reading this book and I think you will too. I highly recommend this story it is an amazing read.
