This is a book in the Flamingo Island series. All of the books are standalone that take place on Flamingo Island.
This was the first of the series I have read so I don’t know if there is any background for the Island or not in earlier books.
Daniel deals with an unimaginable embarrassment and is left at the alter. Thankfully he has his best friend to go on the honeymoon with him. That’s when the adventure begins.
I think my favorite moment was with Buster after a booze filled night. I still chuckle thinking about it.
I will adding the others to my TBR list and plan to try and get to them soon since I have some free time coming.

Tropic Heat (Flamingo Island Series) by C.A. King. I love this author so I was excited to read this romance and I was not disappointed. Its the jilted groom left at the altar scenario that I haven’t read because its usually always the bride left at the altar, anyway it was a fun short read and I feel in love with Daniel. After Daniel is left at the altar his best friend Joey talks Daniel into going on his honeymoon especially since the tickets are nonrefundable and taking Joey with him. What Daniel doesn’t expect is to have a one night stand with a woman and catch feelings for her. Sara just wanted to go on a vacation without any strings until she falls into bed with a key person on the case she is working on. And on top of that she really has chemistry with this guy and wouldn’t mind seeing him again. What I thought was a short little novella left me with big feelings. I loved this book! Read it to find out all the juicy things that happen!

Mission Improbable: Vietnam is Book 3 in the Blanche Murninghan Mystery Series, and I really enjoyed this story. Not only was it a story, but an actual journey. This journey took me along for an adventure, secrets and discovery with years in the making. While I did not read the first two books in the series, I definitely am very interested in circling back to see the other mysteries that Blanche Murninghan was involved in.
What happens when a total stranger takes Blanche by surprise to ask to help find her mother in Vietnam…..hear her out and go along for the journey! Jean McMahon approaches Blanche to help her and what they discover is so much more. As Jean and Blanche get to know each other while trying to not only find Jean’s mother but Blanche would like to do some family discovery of her own….they find they share some commons similarities. Will Jean and Blanche be able to find what they are looking for…
Enjoyable cozy mystery….definitely worth the read!
Song of Earth and Claws starts a bit slow as there is quite a bit of world-building, as is usual in stories of the Fae. The reader needs to be able to understand the rules to understand the motivations of the main character. Lannahi is the youngest daughter of King Sarkal, king of Goldenshadows and Queen Asirri, Sarkal’s wife and Knight. Her older siblings are princes & princesses of their kingdoms under King Sarkal. Kingdoms are won and lost in the Moon Games that happen every month, according to the Rules, but not everyone plays by the rules. Lannahi is a musician with little power, but she realises that she cannot trust anyone, not even her family, as they will all use her as a pawn to gain and keep their own power and kingdoms. When Lannahi is betrayed by Nihhal, an enchanter she loves, she is forced to participate in the Game and duel for a kingdom to protect herself from him and his plans for her. Losing is not an option as losing means slavery. Winning the duel is just the start of Lannahi finding herself and her power in a kingdom quite different to her home, and with people who view her and her friends with much suspicion. Navigating a hostile ex-queen, the man she is attracted to but cannot trust, wild werewolf factions, an ex-lover who betrayed her, and siblings she cannot trust, whilst holding onto her kingdom is a delicate balancing act. Every single book this author writes seems to be pure gold. And I absolutely love, and am amazed by the fact that she can so easily turn her hand to different genres. This book is much more lighthearted and fun than the last ones I read but is just as captivating and entertaining. I really enjoyed the fact that the story focused in a gilted groom rather than a gilted bride. I found myself flying through this book once I started reading because I simply could not put it down. This is a fantastic book by one of my favourite authors.

This book is a fantastic addition to the Tom Grant Series and is juat as exciting and action packed as the others. I find it so easy to reconnect with these stories as soon as instart reading and before I know it am I completely pulled into the story. This story is just as suspenseful and intriguing to read as the others have been and I wanted to see what it had in store for Tom..this boom was a great way to kick-start my new year reading.

This is a really entertaining fantasy read. It contains everything you would expect from a fantasy adventure, fantasy beings, danger, excitement, enemies from far and wide and some even closer to home, and romance. In this story there is also family angst and drama as it felt to me that all of Lannahi’s siblings were constantly waiting for the moment to turn against her and stab her in the back.
Lannahi wants to make her own way in the world. She doesn’t want to be under someone else rule for the rest of her life so to do that she needs to either take over someone else’s kingdom or create her own. However that isn’t as simple as it sounds as even the parts not under the control of a ruler still have their own supernatural beings who aren’t to happy to have someone trying to take control over them.
So now Lannahi has to gather people around her to help her succeed in this game and progress herself further so she can become a ruler. But with everyone wanting the same thing can she really trust the people around her or are they just using her as a stepping stone to get ahead in the game.
The author goes into a lot of detail that really brings the world to life however for me I got a bit lost with the Game. I felt it wasn’t explained as well as it could have been whereas other aspects of the story were explained in greater depth.
Overall it was an enjoyable read which a strong female character which I love and I am excited to see what else the author has planned for this fantasy world.

Well I’ve read this author quite a few times. The books tend to be a hit or miss on my pique of interest levels. Tropic Heat was one of those that piqued my interest so I had to dive in. These books are typically short and quick with quality within the pages. Sometimes I wish the story had a little more and this was also one of those times. I liked it but I wanted more meat for this particular story. Daniel was jilted and still went on his honeymoon anyway. Well that’s because it was non-refundable. What he wasn’t expecting was the scenario he would be pulled into. Sara ended up on Flamingo Island for an assignment. An assignment after a night or rolling around in the sheets with a stranger. Ended up hitting closer to home. Daniel ended up being a key in her case but she needed to find out how much. How much is too much? How does Daniel feel when he finds out? All kinds of emotions flow through the reader in a short period of time. One of which is feeling bad Daniel went through all of this. Are you curious to find out what happens? Well maybe you should take the leap like I did to find out if it’s just enough to satisfy you, or if you want more as I do.

While this is a cute story I did struggle sticking with it. I just could not identify with the characters. I would recommend reading the first book in the series. I did not and was frustrated with the many references to book one in the beginning. It is a nice mystery with suspense and a few twists. It also has a few moments that made me chuckle.

Shadowed Agenda is a part of the Shadow Defense Security Series. Regan Christenson and Pavlo Barislov are like oil and water. In other words, they don’t mix. The two are forced together on a book tour…they even write books in two completely different genres. They avoid one another and only interact when they need to, and usually when they do, it’s full of snark. All that changes when Regan’s life is threatened when she refuses to do a private book signing for a woman who just may well be the next First Lady. The sole person who can protect her is Pavlo. As the two spend more time together, they discover their first opinions of one another were all wrong, and that snark may have been hiding a desire for the another.
I will be completely honest. I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this book because it involved politics, and I get enough of that every day on the news. However, I quickly changed my mind as that didn’t dominate the book! Yes, it was a part of the plot that drove the story, but it didn’t take away anything from the actual book itself. The pacing was spot-on, and the twists and turns kept me guessing. Just when I thought I knew who the bad guy was, Ellscott would flip the script on me, and I was second-guessing myself. I couldn’t stop flipping the pages to see what the final outcome would be.
I loved Regan and Pavlo. They were complex characters, and with each chapter told in their own POVs, another layer of who they were was revealed. Both of them had some serious trust issues. They had each loved someone with everything they had to have their hearts and their trust in love destroyed. Regan and Pavlo also dealt with that differently. Regan wouldn’t even consider a relationship much less a one-night stand, and one-night stands were all that Pavlo could offer a woman. Each of them was fiercely independent and determined. Pavlo was dedicated to his job with Shadow Defense, and Regan was dedicated to her daughter, Emmeline.
The secondary characters also added a layer to the story. Characters were not always who I thought they were. In fact, that was part of the guessing game for me as well. Because of my uncertainty about their agenda, the epilogue was such a treat for me. It was one of my favorite parts of the book.
It’s been quite a while since I have read romantic suspense, and Mavery Ellscott reminded me why I love this genre. She did a fantastic job of combining mystery, intrigue, and romance. She is a new author for me, and I’m so glad I got the chance to discover how talented she is. I will be reading more from her in the future!!!
Lela’s Choice by Jennifer Raines is a great combination of romance and women’s fiction!!!
Lela is the epitome of a loyal daughter, not to say she isn’t obstinate and determined, but she has dedicated her life to her father and her niece. She had plans to make her own path when Sophie turned 18. However, Sophie has disappeared with her boyfriend which sends all of Lela’s plans completely off track. Now, she races to Malta to find her and bring some sort of peace to her family. She wasn’t expecting Hamish McGregor, who is working for her father, and aiding in the search. Their first meeting isn’t necessarily cordial. Lela doesn’t trust Hamish or anyone that works for her overbearing father. Yet, she can’t deny the attraction and pull she feels towards him, and he can’t deny his attraction to her. As the two work trying to find Lela, they soon find themselves falling in love.
Both Lela and Hamish are complicated and complex characters. Both have suffered tragic losses in their lives which has impacted their present lives, especially in their ability to have a relationship. Lela is fighting her father’s controlling behavior, and Hamish is afraid he will lose another woman to violence because of his job. The two did a tremendous amount of growth throughout the book. They are two different people by the last page even though not too much time passes within the storyline.
Their romance is a slow burn at first, but then, things take off quite quickly when they decide to give in to their feelings. There are some obstacles to their happily ever after, but thankfully without too much angst. While the disappearance of Sophie is the reason both of them are in Malta, that plotline does somewhat become secondary. The book was well-written and was very descriptive. At times, I found myself in the setting with the characters. It made me want to visit Malta.
I found the book quite enjoyable, and I not only liked but respected both of the characters for their determination and strength. While the book was mostly centered around their romance, it was also about family, loss, forgiveness, and second chances.

While this book was not at all what I expected (yes, there was a mystery to be solved; more than one, in fact), I expected a much more lighthearted approach to fact finding and discovery. What I got, instead, was a beautiful telling of two women searching for lost family members related to the war in Vietnam, filled with detailed descriptions of the land, the people and the culture of Vietnam. I don’t typically lean towards selecting books that are post-war era, and I wouldn’t necessarily classify this book as such, however Nancy Nau Sullivan did an incredible job of capturing the heartache of a country ravaged by war (decades later) yet continuing on, and mostly with a positive Buddah-inspired mindset. I was apprehensive starting the book as to whether or not I would enjoy it, and I was pleasantly surprised!
Ava is struggling to come to terms with her situation, lock in the fortress of Kingston Winter can’t be that bad but when she discovers that her brother has abandoned her and she is not getting out of the gilded castle she starts to drawn to Kingston.
Kingston has always collected things and Ava is no exception to the rule but when he has this compulsion and attraction to her he is more in protection mode and wants her to be his forever. All things are complicated her drives her too the point that although she hates him she can’t live without him also.
Can there situation move further into a relationship or is Kingston incapable of being that close to her or have his feelings brought out in the open?
This is the second half to the story and to be honest this is not a book to read independently, you will need to understand the back story to really appreciate this book and the dynamics between the two characters. As the first book the characters open up more and you get to see the true them in this story. Ava although in the first book I thought was strong and sassy shows more in this story and you get to she her strength and the struggles of understanding something is not right but having this obsession with Kingston was great to read.
Kington’s character would be classed as an a antihero but as you read more of his thoughts and desires in this story you get to understand him more as you read through the book. The chemistry between these characters is off the chart and will have you turning the pages to find out what happened next.
The story is well constructed and written brilliantly with the passion and chemistry just jumps off the screen. I can’t wait to read more books by this author.

King has done it again; given us a quick, enjoyable read that draws you in and keeps you turning the page. Getting left at the alter on his wedding day wasn’t what Daniel had in mind when he booked a non refundable honeymoon. So when that happens, his best friend convinces him to take the trip anyway. Will he spend his time drowning his sorrows, throwing a pity party, a sting of one night stands, or maybe, just maybe, will he find someone whom Sparks fly with? I recommend picking up a copy to find out.

I loved this. A great read, a real page turner. It can be read as a one off read or as a series. I just couldn’t put it down, I couldn’t wait to find out what happened at the end. It follows Tom who has quit the agency and just wants to retire in peace. But like any agency worker he’s never really retired, he gets sucked back in and must work to find a woman who’s been kidnapped before it’s too late. I cannot recommend this series enough!

Nessie and the Living Stone is another wonderful book by the talented Lois Wickstrom and the illustrations by Sara Strand are bright, colourful and a beautiful addition to this first chapter book that will keep any new reader turning the pages. Just like I did ❤️.
Lois has a way with words that captures your attention and imagination encouraging you to keep reading until you find out what will happen next. This novel will appeal to all ages.

I was a little leery at first about this book but once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down. It has just enough historical facts, friendship, action, and suspense. You find yourself wrapped up in Jean and Blanches story and rooting for them to find out the truth. It has wonderful characters that feel like they could be your own friends you hang out with.
This author has never disappointed me. She writes such magical things that draw you in from the beginning. This is a great short story about doing the right thing even when it’s inconvenient or not as fun for you. It is great to read to your kids. My 8 year old loves all of the stories written by this author.

I have read a couple of books from this author and she always surprises me. This is book number eight of the reluctant wagon train bride series. They can be read as standalones since each book is based on a different woman. I love a good historical romance but this author exceeds my expectations every time. I couldn’t put this book down until the end. I can’t wait to see what she will write about next.
Dorothy Mason is still grieving her dead husband after five years and she vows to never marry again. She is becoming really depressed so she needs to figure out how to start a brand new life. Dorothy has a crazy idea but it might work. She is going to travel on the Oregon Train. When she makes it to Missouri she realizes that she needs to find a new husband to be complete. This was another cute story from Wickstrom. Same as all the perivous I have read by her there is a lesson to be learned. She does it with a cute, easy to follow storyline , keeping your child interested. The illustrations also paint a picture of the story. I would recommend reading this book.

The Marcy Series Box Set is definitely a whirlwind. The 3 books take the reader on the biggest emotional rollercoaster ever. The author pulls you in. Makes you feel happy, angry, sad, love, ect. You need to read all 3. You can’t skip around or read them alone. The next book starts exactly where the previous left off. Marcy finds herself dealing with a lot of rage and confusion in her life for the last few months and doesn’t understand why. At the urging of her boyfriend Brad she finally seeks out help. But when she does her life takes some unexpected turns. Ending up in a love triangle in love with both Brad and Liam she’s trying to figure out how to navigate it all. She doesn’t want to hurt either one of them, so she keeps them both close. Brad as well as herself have some emotional issues they have to deal with personally before they can move on. Liam has a personal vendetta he needs to accomplish before he can be completely open. So what will happen? Who will Marcy choose? Rage Confusion Agony and Ecstasy Will answer those questions and more. I didn’t care for what Marcy was doing at first. But as you get to know the character one gets a better understanding. I felt bad for Brad but I understood. Liam I knew there was more than met the eye. I guarantee you at least feel similarly about at least one of these if not all. You want a psychological/emotional rollercoaster with some suspense thrown in, check this box set out!

5 Stars A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet Book 2) by April Moran
A Heart So Savage is the second book in The Savage Duet. This is a Dark Romance that will have you turning the pages till the end. I do highly suggest reading the first book in this duet as this picks up right where book one leaves us. I also want to warn there may ne some triggers in this story but if you can push through them it’s worth trying. I loved everything about this book. It’s raw, loaded with danger, suspense, plenty of steamy sex and so much more. Ava and Kingston these two frustrated me at times but man oh man. He’s claimed her and she’s being held as payment for a huge debt her brother owes him. You guys are in for quite the ride. Hang on tight. I don’t want to give away anything. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

This sci fi fiction and fantasy book takes place in the future, 100 years from now, when we have done enough damage to the environment. Maddison Bear’s Heart, an environmental lawyer, is assigned a task to speak to Gaia, mother Earth by the Hopi people. When they come to know that a new planet is ready to welcome them, they board a space craft to begin their new life. But there are a lot who are left behind . Greed and misunderstanding comes in the way and there is harm to befall both on the space craft and the people who are left behind, mostly women who depend on hope. This is a very interesting story, but there are too many characters and too many perspectives, which made it a little confusing for me. Hopefully as the series progresses, things get a little less tangled. Overall , quite an interesting book.

This is the second book in the series. It is a cozy mystery that is a quick read and very enjoyable. The characters are fantastically developed and the mystery is always very unique with different twists and turns. In this story April May is a great main character who is really endearing. In this one she definitely goes through it and I really felt everything with her. This is a great cozy mystery and I definitely recommend picking it up!

This wonderful romance builds slowly between the main characters Claire and Finn but you will truly be drawn into their heartfelt journey of love and healing. They grow as much as their loves does over the storyline and will definitely keep you captivated along the way. This is the first novel I have read by this author and I just know it will be just the first of many.

This is a fantasy romance, something I don’t normally read. But Brooke May has become one of my favorite authors so I figured I would give this book a chance and I am so glad that I did. Seraphina is a cupid, but not the normal stereotypical cupid we all imagine with arrows and wings and looking like a cherub. Seraphina is feisty and really sassy. Seth is a hockey player with a playboy attitude. He goes through his pick of women on the regular. But once Seraphina gets involved that all changes. This is the fourth book in the series, but the first that I have read. I definitely think this book functioned as a standalone, but I will be reading the others because I enjoyed this one. I definitely loved the characters in this book and have always found Brooke May to have a talent in writing books with fantastically well developed characters that jump off the page. I definitely recommend this book!
