This is the third book in the Hidden Valley Elite that I have read. I have to say each one deals with dark themes and mature content. However, that does not stop this from being an absolutely amazing book. It must be noted that this is not a standalone. This story features Damon and Sky. They have absolutely amazing banter between one another. The kind where the emotion is absolutely palpable. This story is told from dual points of view. I find that this type of story telling can be very hard to read if it is not done well. However, Isla Vaughn does dual point of view with excellence and I cannot imagine this story not being told from this point of view. Their dislike for each other absolutely jumps off the page but it is their obsession with each other that really drives the storyline. Especially the extra twist of Sky’s friend Gia. I am definitely looking forward to the next book to find out what happens between them. This is a definite book that sucks you in from the first page and doesn’t ever let you go!

Brutal Days (Hidden Valley Elite Book 3) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Jessica Stone
I LOVE this series, I could not recommend it more, Isla Vaughn has stolen my heart and given it to these guys. This is book three in this series, not including a short prequel and this book focuses on Damon, the younger brother to Cole from the previous two books. Part of me was worried that this book would be more tame than the last two because it’s centered around Damon, but boy was I wrong.
Isla does a wonderful job building up the tense angsty situations and letting them explode, she creates fireworks between her main love interests while not making the book overly “romantic”. This book in particular takes its main characters relationship to a different delicious level by making it a hidden relationship/forced/enemies to lovers, with a little bit of spice mixed in by having her pay Damon basically with her body to date her best friend and make her high-school dreams come true. Now… we all think know how this is going to end, but I did not expect the twist that popped up. Sky’s past coming back to haunt her and her inability to let go fully and put her trust in a man holds her back for a bit, but she blossoms and it’s beautiful.
All in all I really enjoyed this book, I enjoyed the continuation of where the last book left off, the follow through on the story, the depth to the characters and the hurt they’ve experienced, all quit enjoyable. Sprinkle in a little mystery and spice and you’ve got this wonderful book. I’m pretty excited to see what the author does in the next installment of the series, and to get to know all of the main characters better.

Libby has done it again. I absolutely adore this small town and this was really a redemption for Anthony in my opinion because in the previous books i did NOT like his character but wow am i so glad this turned out the way it did. I was so happy to see this was dual POV because getting inside Anythony’s head and learning his true feelings is really what made me open up to him. It was so sweet watching this couple fall back into love with each other. Such a heartwarming story and im so glad nothing super chaotic happened to keep them apart this was very normal and i appreciated that alot to see things that really do happen in relationships but then it all turning around and being okay in the end with a HEA was the best. And Alice really grew on me too. By the end i was rooting for her to figure things out. Love this series.

Angelo and Lucia have grown up together since their mother’s are best friends, and Angelo is Lucia’s brother’s best friend. They continually fight their attraction to each other. They come in and out of each other’s lives over the next few years. But, when Lucia needs someone to run to when things get rough, she can only think of Angelo. Will he be there for her? Are those feelings they both have still be there?
I really enjoyed these characters and how much they grew up throughout the course of the book. Angelo wants to be the man that Lucia deserves…breaking both of their hearts in the process. However, their friendship continues to be strong enough to bring them back to each other time and time again. Even though thy move on, there is still something there. But, no matter what, they are always friends first. Their friendship is tested when she comes to him with news that could break him once and for all. To watch how they navigated this situation kept me on the edge of my seat.
I have enjoyed the other books in this series…and this one was no different. I could not put it down, from beginning to end. Once again, I was sucked into the world of the book and did not want to leave!

This book, set in the 1920’s, is very similar to the story of Rapunzel in my mind. Bethany is about to come of age in just a few days. She lives with her aunt and uncle after the untimely death of her parents. They decide as a family to travel to Hot Springs so that her aunt can experience some bathing treatments for ailments that she’s suffering.
Bethany is looking forward to being out from under the thumb of her aunt and uncle and she’s excited to spend her 18th birthday while on vacation. She’s tired of being told what to eat (and that’s when she’s allowed to), what to wear, how to act, etc.
She meets a man named Paul who warns her to avoid the 4th floor of the hotel she’s staying in because it’s inhabited by Al Capone. Paul is a detective trying to bring down the mobster. Bethany doesn’t take well to being told what to do and finds herself meeting Al Capone face to face.
This story is full of adventure, drama, and of finding oneself. I thoroughly enjoyed this rather short read and now look forward to reading the next story in this series.

Underneath the Whiskey is a M/M romance. This was my first time reading a novel written by Lauren and I was extremely satisfied with this one. There have not been many M/M romances that really struck my fancy but this one had me hooked from the very beginning. Lauren introduces you to some very hard topics: abuse, mental health, and homosexuality. She discusses these topics with such hospitality. Her characters are extremely likable. The story line is believable and flows extremely well. The story is so detailed, I felt like I was on this journey with Ben, his family, and Caden. I will not hesitate to pick up another novel written by Lauren in the future. If you are looking for a fast paced, heart felt, action packed novel for the weekend, this one is highly recommended.

This bully romance just does not miss. I have truly enjoyed each part of this series so far. This particular book revolves around Damon and Skylar. You can feel the emotions between them. Being a military spouse, I feel like this book resonated with me on a deeper level than maybe a person not connected to the military. It gave me a different perspective on how my spouse perhaps looks at his duty to his country. I appreciated seeing Jacek battle with his feelings and finally seeing that his wife’s observations were truer than he wanted to see. On the other hand, I also liked seeing how his wife supported him despite his duty-bound heart. In truth, this was a timely read for me.

The Passion of Three is a steamy MMF second chance romance that centers around the characters of Caro, Nash, and Greyson. The trio used to be in a band called Chaos years ago but went their separate ways when Caro mistakenly believed that Nash was cheating on her. Caro is now living in Kentucky and after a decade accidentally runs into Nash at The Kentucky Derby. They reconnect and rekindle their relationship but the third piece of their trio, Greyson, is missing. They set off on a mission to find him and put their relationship back together. The trio runs into a few difficulties and struggles but before long the trio’s relationship strengthens and the passion between them is both undeniable and unstoppable. The story was well written, and the characters of Caro, Nash, and Greyson were relatable and lovable. The chemistry between them was intense and I am certain my glasses fogged up while reading the steamy and spicy romps in the hay. This book had action, suspense, mystery, heartache, heartbreak, love lost, love regained, intense passion, romance, and even a kidnapping. I highly recommend!

This is not only the 4th book in the Blood Prophecy series but also the 1st in a trilogy. I would recommend reading the first 3 books of the Blood Prophecy Trilogy before reading this one so you can know the character’s portrayed and voicing the stories as well as understand the events which have led to this point.
As with the previous books, this is written from multiple perspectives and from multiple different periods of time. This may be confusing at first but the author does a good job at making it lear what is happening.
I enjoyed the characters and what each brought to the story, their backgrounds and experiences have shaped them well into even more interesting individuals. Another element I enjoyed was the historical side of Hawaii, I wasn’t expecting it, but I found it fascinating and thought it made the series more unique.
I’m looking forward to reading more in the series as I’m now invested in their lives.

This book is a friends to lovers romance and is the third book in the series. This book is really all about the main characters and their connection. The timing and the opportunities just never seemed to work out for them and I couldn’t help but root for them anyway. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop. The overall story was well thought out and a sweet romance. This author knows how to create a book you want to read, and this one is no exception. I would definitely recommend both this book and this author.

This isn’t the first book by this author that i have read and it won’t be the last. The main character has to make a life altering decision to either defend his country or his family. The honor ad devotion this main character had was great and i enjoyed their story a lot. The book can be read as a standalone and but after reading this one i think i will go back and read the two previous books because I enjoy the authors writing style and this is a good pallet cleanser book for me because I normally don’t read this genre. The Hussar’s Duty is the third book in The Winged Warrior Series. It is a historical adventure that is set in the 17th Century at the time of the war between the Ottoman Empire and Central Europe. Although it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first two books so that you know more about the backstory and characters. The author has done an amazing job of transporting the reader to the 17th Century through detailed writing that fully immerses you in each scene. The storyline centers around the characters of Jacek and Oliwia who have been living a peaceful life until Jacek gets called back into duty. Jacek was a warrior with the Winged Warriors but now has turned his focus to devoting his life to his wife and family. When he is called back to duty Jacek finds that he feels conflicted between duty to his country or the love of his family. Jacek’s character is one that is easy to get heavily invested into as he must make the gut-wrenching decision of choosing loyalty to his country or the love of his family. I highly recommend this book that is full of adventure, action, drama, danger, angst, and romance.

Having read the previous books in this series I was looking forward to being back with Jacek and Oliwia, and I was not disappointed. As usual the descriptive narrative brought the characters and the setting vividly to life, while the added historical details transported me back in time. The storyline is set in the era when Sultan Osman II sends Poland’s envoy packing, and the Commonwealth is preparing for war against the Ottomans large army. Grand Hetman of the Crown Stanisław Żółkiewski has been tasked with repelling the invasion, and he needs the Commonwealth’s most valiant Polish winged hussar, Jacek Dąbrowski. Meanwhile, Jacek has made a life away from the battlefield with his wife Oliwia and their children, and although he is feeling idle he’s worried that his family will be at risk whilst he’s away. However, Oliwia has no intention of letting him go alone and so hatches a plan to accompany him. Jacek is torn between his country and his family, knowing that which ever one he chooses it will have consequences. This is a fast paced, exciting read with a storyline full of adventure, drama, and romance and a plot which keeps you guessing as to the outcome of the story. An enjoyable and entertaining novel, and one which I recommend.

This is the first book in the Blood Prophecy series which caught my interest.
As I got into the story, I was a little concerned that the differing periods of time that it was written in would cause confusion, but this was not the case. The author was able to keep things clear as the story progressed through various points of view and times.
I’m enjoying the characters that the author has created. They each have their own characteristics which make them stand out and their backgrounds feed into who they are. Seeing how these things shaped the characters made them feel more believable to me and drew me into their lives.
I’m looking forward to reading more about how everything is connected and how the story develops.

This book is a great story and a brilliant addition to the series. I also enjoyed the fact that it is the start of a new series too. The book is a well written fantasy story that was so easy to engage with. I was pulled in to the story straight away and loved how the author built the story up. I enjoyed the combination of old and new characters. They all added some thing to the overall story and made the book much better to read. Although I have only read a few books by this author I have enjoyed them all and I am looking forward to more.

I really enjoyed this musical romance. Hank is the baby boy of the family, he wants to be a country star but his hometown band has recently broke up and he can’t decide if he wants to pursue a solo career or work on the family farm. In comes Ella Mae who introduces him to his idol Travis Miller and they offer for him to go with them on the road for 3 weeks.
Hank and Ella Mae’s connection is undeniable from the start. They bonded over family past, and current secrets. I love getting to see the back side of a music career setting with Travis and Ella Mae. Hanks care in his relationship with Ella Mae is heartwarming. I am nervous and excited for the next because I know whats coming and nothing better happen to the actual baby of the family. I will protect Becky with my life!

This book is a work of fiction, however it is based on truth for the children who fly under the age of two. It made me think. It also haunted me much like the characters who were haunted for 20 years. This book was so good! There is one explicit scene at the end of the book. I loved the prologue and how the story started. Julie Geiger is a flight attendant who was working during a horrific plane crash. She was one of 4 survivors; the story follows the lives of these survivors. Paige was a “lap baby” during the crash, and the only baby who survived. Marie’s baby did not survive, and she blames that loss on Julie. Julie and Marie (and to a lesser degree the other two survivors) find their lives on hold for twenty years, unable to move past the plane crash. I loved the growth in the characters and how they learned to move forward. There was a twist at the end that I didn’t see coming and was awesome too! This book is a fantastic read and worth every minute of your time.

This was a lovely coming of age story set in the 1920. It is a short story and I was able to read it in one sitting. The author does an amazing job and the research into the era from the gangsters to flappers this story has it all. Bethany has lived a very sheltered life with her aunt and uncle. Since her parents died she has been living with them. They have kept her sheltered, trying to turn her into a proper lady. However as Bethany grows she feels a desired to spread her wings and be just like the other girls her age.
With her 18th birthday coming she finally realises this is her chance to get the freedom she craves, however her aunt and uncle has other plans. Add to this the danger she faces when she catches the eye of a gangster as well as the eye of the policeman and this beautiful emerging butterfly may have her wings clipped before she even stretches them.
I really enjoyed this story. Bethany’s character is very strong and determined and even though she is nieve about life you can see her character growth as the story progresses.

Whew! What a quick read! One day was all it took since I struggled to put this down and it flows along so nicely I just kept turning pages. I love the storyline. I really felt the emotions of these two characters. They lost so much but could regain it if they can get past..the past. One of my favorite things in here is the pow wows he has with the other men. Their ideas and insight made me laugh. Along with their bickering all in the name of helping their friend.
This is a smashing start to a new series! I loved every second and am secretly hoping the next book is Zara and Noah. She seems like a spitfire!

This case could skyrocket her career. But Nathan wants her, whether there are rules or not.

This was another cute installment to the Buckeye Falls family. The way they intertwine stories is lovely and can be also read as a standalone. I would suggest reading them all because each is a sweet addition. I really thought that the chemistry of the characters was well done and enjoyed the plot. I’m a sucker for second chances as well as a lakehouse setting.

Rise of the Hunter is the fourth book in the Blood Prophecy series by Barb Jones. This is an original paranormal story with witches, vampires, demons, angels, Hawaiian shamans/culture/history/gods, the supernatural, good vs evil, plots, agendas, vengeance, magic, mythology, drama, action, adventure, suspense, mystery, intrigue, tension, mysteriousness, prophecy, twists, and danger. This book focuses on the Tall Dark Man (from the series), as well as the return of the main characters from the previous books- as Ms. Jones weaves an intriguing tale that was made even more interesting by injecting some of her personal history/culture into her story. Even though this is the fourth book in the Blood Prophecy series, it is also the first book in a trilogy focusing on the Tall Dark Man, so I am interested in seeing where we go from here. Having said that, I Highly recommend reading the previous books before starting on this one as there is a lot of information and backstory that you will probably need in order to save any confusion here as the character introductions and other relevant details are contained in those previous books. Again, as with Ms. Jones other books, there is a LOT going on in the story, making for a interesting read- BUT with the story being told from so many perspectives (at least 18 individuals POV’s) plus all the time jumps, made for a bit of a jumbled, and at times, confusing read. The transitions were a bit choppy which added to the unsteady feel. I think the story would have been better if the ‘information’ was provided from much fewer perspectives, and the ‘historical’ details/stories were provided through the ‘current’ dialogue instead of all the time jumps, I mean we jump through so many centuries, even as far back as the birth of Pele- Hawaiian Goddess-Hawaiian Creation, then visiting Nostradamus, ancient Hawaii, various cities/places in the present day, as well as jumping back to B.C. a few times, then back to ‘present day’, then back in time again, then forward again, and so on and so forth- which honestly just made me a little dizzy and added to the confusion- and just seemed to me to be more like haphazard info dumps. But the mysteriousness that Ms. Jones infused into her story definitely added to the overall intrigue and feel of the story- amping up some tension while adding interest. The story is set to continue, so I will have to wait to see what Ms. Jones has in store for us, in the future instalments. Happy Reading…

I loved the art in this book, the aesthetic is so pleasing. The story is cute, I enjoyed the rhyming and the Giant controlling whether or not the sky falls. Colleen was brave to take her dad’s place to try and help. I think the visuals alone will draw kids in, and then the story will help them fall in love with book. Colleen’s dad may seem to others, not to have a “real” job but, the neighbors can all go about their days not worrying about the sky thanks to the giant.

This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. This is the first book in a new series for this author. It is also the fourth book in the current series which I highly suggest reading as well. This will help with your enjoyment of this author’s writing skills. I enjoy how she uses details to make her books realistic and as if you are part of the story. This book is no different. I found this book to be well written and a great start to this new series. The characters pull you into their dark world of the supernatural. A fight be good and evil but who will win, only fate knows. There is great growth with the characters and the plot throughout. They are strong, connectable, creative characters that add so much to the entertainment value of the story. I also enjoyed how fast paced and engaging this story is. It is easy to read which I highly recommend reading.
