I love historical fiction, and this one did not disappoint. My only complaint is that the story seemed short and not completely fleshed out. Even so, I still really enjoyed it. 17 year old Laurel marries her flame, Robert Laningham. They both adore each other and expect marriage to be easy. Laurel doesn’t expect resistance from her husband’s twin sister, Rhonda, nor does she expect Robert to leave for the war with Spain. When Robert returns from Spain, he acts differently and doesn’t believe what Laurel says. They must overcome Rhonda and a thief and learn to depend on each other. Well written and enjoyable to read!

Evelyn and Devlin have been coworkers for a few years now. Devlin has a reputation as a ladies man, but he has always had feelings for Evelyn. Elemental Fire is the first book in the Hidden Realms series. It’s an exciting fantasy romance with an urban setting and plenty of twists to keep you turning the pages. A treaty between humans and the Hidden was supposed to keep everyone safe and happy. But of course that’s not always the case. There are humans who see the Hidden as a threat and discriminate against them. There are Hidden who use their glamours to do more than simply blend in with the crowd. This is where Sin comes in – she can see through glamours and spot different magical creatures whether or not they want to be seen. She offers her services to both sides, helping where she can (especially if the pay is good!). There is some beautiful world building in this book, which encourages readers to see the magic in everything! And the story is fantastic, with the romance not overwhelming the action and mystery. This book gets five stars from me! I’d recommend it to fans of urban fantasies looking for something full of romance and adventure.

An enjoyable and engaging historical romance with added drama and suspense which had me hooked from start to finish. Laurel Collingsworth, is seventeen and deeply in love when she marries her hero, Lord Robert Laningham. However, instead of living in wedded bliss, she has to watch her husband go off to war in Spain. As the new Lady Laningham gets used to her new role, and being without her husband, she moves into his ancient mansion. It’s not just her hostile sister in law that Laurel must deal with, but she also has shadowy intruders, mysterious footsteps in the night and missing jewellery to contend with. Having faced a series of terrifying events, Laurel is overjoyed when she learns that her husband is alive and returning home.
However, the wounded Lord Laningham is in no state to listen to his wives concerns, even though she tries to convince him that there is danger within the mansions halls. Laurel must protect herself, her child, her recovering husband and her household, with or without Robert’s help. The descriptive narrative brought both the characters and setting vividly to life, and the added historical details made me feel transported back in time. I loved Laurel, as she is a likeable and relatable character and I felt engaged with her. The storyline flowed well and the plot twists kept me happily turning the pages, and I felt immersed in the story. I recommend this entertaining read.

Everything from gunslinging in the old west to the feeling of hopeful longing to fit in, this book intertwines many, many themes into its winding pages. Containing everything from historical touches to sci-fi approaches, all while keeping intricate detail within, this book is a melting pot of genres and style.
It was a quick read even with its volume, and the characters were easy to love. Always get the reader thinking on what going back themselves would be like! It was an adventure for sure.

I have been loving this book series since book 1. As much as I am sad to see the finale of the books happen, I loved how the author created these books and brought them to life, and gave the perfect ending!
This one in particular in the series really got at my heart strings i must say! Declan was a character impossible not to love, he was a good man with a good heart. Renee I related to a lot as well. She went thru stuff and did not seem worthy in her opinion to the most special in her life. When her past comes back to haunt her, she finds comfort in Declan’s arms. Their moments were sweet, full of steam, and you really truly felt the feelings and emotions between them! I was very happy with how this book went. The book series was stellar from book 1 all the way through this one, the finale. Perfect series which I absolutely loved!
I could never get enough of this author or series. The series, this book installment, and author are a high recommendation from me! It was bitter sweet to reach the end of the series, but the journey was by far unforgettable. Definitely a must read for sure. I highly suggest reading all the books in this series!

So, let me begin by saying this book is hilarious. I laughed until I cried while reading this story. Some of the personal issues that the main character experienced were some I have had as well so I could totally relate. It was great to have a book where no matter what was thrown at her she did not give up on her hopes and dreams. Personally, this should be a book on all females “to read” list. It is an easy and fast read as I could not put it down. If you are a female and looking for a book that will make you laugh, look no further. Pick this book up and read it.

The Salem Witch Trials has always been a fascination of mine, and this is a fun fictional modern Salem Witch Trials. Although the story moved slowly, I couldn’t put it down! Brazeau brought a lot of light and humor to what could have easily been a dark and gloomy story. The story was well written with unforgettable characters. I couldn’t wait to finish it and have my 13 year old read it as well so we could discuss. 5 out of 5 for sure!

Jude’s sister, Renee was abducted and was held in a sex tracking ring for 3 years. She was pretty much the first person people saw when they walked in, much like a greeter. She definitely did have to participate in actions but not as much as others I do not think. Jude’s best friend Declan and Renee were close before she was abducted and both had feeling for one another but were afraid to act on them. Now that Renee has been rescued, Declan stays on sight in the place Renee is placed to help her cope. She has therapy there, and slowly starts to have lunch with Declan. Declan is the only person Renee feels absolutely comfortable with. She does have setbacks and the person she calls first is always Declan. They both care a great deal About eachother but Renee has alot of triggers and issues when it comes to people near her or Touching her. Everything seems to be going at a great pace as Declan and Renee get back to how close they were before she was abducted until Dominic’s wedding. At a moment during the wedding, Renee, Declan and Jude’s fears come barreling into reality when Renee goes missing again. Was she taken, is she in the bathroom, or did she just leave without telling anyone? I thought this series was so good and I loved the plot that all the books worked around. I hope to read more by this author soon. Each book was great to read but I recommend reading them in order to get the full effect.

The Order of Vespers by Elyse Reyes is an interesting, creative story. Jasper Andrews is in high school but does not live a normal life. Eighteen is rough enough but Jasper has some unique problems. She is involved in a freak explosion that allows a secret group to find out about her powerful abilities. When her family is killed suddenly Jasper takes off to protect herself. She is led into a powerful play between the group searching for her and The Order of Vespers. Can Jasper figure out if she should battle in vengeance for the death of her family or for the greater good? Jasper is a tough, smart girl who has lost everything she ever knew and is on the run of her life. Her powers are still developing. She is not quite in control of herself and the world around her. The hardest part is that she was raised trying to hide her powers. Now everyone wants what she has. Jasper is caught between two groups and must decide which group has the better interest for everyone. The writing is good and I always enjoy a creative story. The beginning was a bit confusing to me but I quickly caught what was going on and got deeply involved in the story. The characters were well developed and relatable. The story once it got going was well paced and interesting. It was a quick read that was fun. I enjoyed the book and will look for more by this author.

This book seriously held you from the start to the very end. I could not let go. The book was full of intrigue, as well being intelligently written by the author!
I love historical reads and books that are to do with women who have intelligence and are in a profession that may be given more like lit to men, such as spies. Loved how the author wrote this story and made all come to life. Miriam was a wonderful lead character. Strong minded and bad ass. I loved how she was searching for the truth and to prevent what could cause many casualties. The book gripped me, it was epic, and very much an intense read. I was blown away, literally! A great read I devoured and loved!
Fantastic read and very much a fantastic as well as, creative author as well. I could not have asked for more, it was perfect with every word and every turn of danger! Highly recommend! A must read for sure!

Fascinating start This is a very intriguing Gaslamp fantasy story featuring Madam Chalamet who is a trained medium. I loved the setting and the characterisation. Elinor Chalamet isn’t one to be trifled with. This book has mystery, action and slow burn romance, a great combination. This is the first of six novellas, and I am keen to see where the story goes.

Wow where to start with this story. I don’t think I’ve ever ready a spy story that has historical references before and I was a bit worried that I wouldn’t enjoy it or understand it but boy was I wrong. I was gripped from the very first page. The author’s writing and the characters created were so engaging that I kept me reading till the end. With so many twists and turns, a lot of deception and the feeling of never knowing who you can trust it definately makes this book a page turner. The link to historical events added a sense of realism to the story which makes the book even more interesting and gripping. I love the character writing and the fact that there are women spies that are just as dangerous and good at the job as the men. The whole plot of saving someone and helping a family escape without bring detected or killed made this a fast paced action adventure which you just can’t put down. I will definately look to read more from this author.

Imagine if you will, a chance to use a time machine to go backward or forward in time. Where would you go and what would you like to see? Is there a monumental event in history that you want to witness or a great injustice that you would change? Would you visit the dinosaurs or check on your kids and grandkids in the future? Would you try to meet your current spouse at an earlier time in life or fast forward to live in the space age? The options are unlimited! All these questions come into play when an advanced physics professor teams up with his brightest student to create a time machine. Using a power source found by the student Samoset, they attached it to the original movie prop from The Time Machine and away they go on with their adventures, however misguided they may be. Samoset wants to use the machine to correct an injustice to the Native Americans and the Professor wants to go back in time to fix his relationships. Truly, two very different ideas on how to use the time machine. Does it work? Did they make a difference in the past? Was the professor able to fix his relationship and broken heart? How many time streams will they open and become a part of? Will living in the past in a western town be the real answer to finding peace in life or shall they need to be off again on a different path? My favorite part of the book is all the options that the pair face together and how they work as a team with the dog Uncle Leo to find a suitable place to land and remain for the rest of their lives. I just love the western town that they decided to reside in for a bit. The description of the town and its people is so easy to imagine and picture that it jumps right off the page. Very strong character development makes for a great read and exciting storyline. The saying really is true: You can never go home!

Friends to lovers Third book in and loving the Freemasons Series. This is Jude and Sienna’s story. There has always been an attraction but circumstances push them to face their truth and boy, does it create some steam. There is all the alpha maleness that we have come to love from this series and the strong FMC that keeps the man in line. There is an interwoven story that has continued since book one so it is recommended to start at the book one. A brilliant addition to the series.

What a conclusion to this fantastic series!! So creatively written with such wonderful characters that you just can’t help taking them into your heart. This book explores Renee and Declan whose bond is undeniable but they have so much to work through as Renee tries to build a life again after being rescued. The author created such truly amazing characters whose strength is just indescribable! Renee is just such an amazing woman whose inner strength, even if at first she can’t see it, is inspiring. I highly recommend you reading this as soon as you can!! Don’t stop at one book read the whole series!!

Order of Vespers is the first instalment in The Vesper Chronicles by Matilda Reyes and is an epic dark urban fantasy. It has a very original and intriguing storyline that explores the world of good and evil, order and chaos; and the Order of people who possess special abilities who are tasked with maintaining the universal balance. It is very complex story that has suspense, action, drama, mystery- and contains a lot of graphic violence. Jasper Andrews appears to be a fairly ordinary 18-year-old- she is a high achieving student, always on the Honor Role, is a formidable member of the debate team and a former cheerleader. She has a twin brother who she has a love/hate relationship with and an older sister who she really admires. Her family is pretty close-knit and supportive, if not a little overprotective. They value their privacy and don’t like drawing attention to themselves. Appearances can be deceiving, as life for Jasper and the Andrew’s family is far from ‘normal’ or ‘ordinary’; they are constantly vigilant and guarded in order to protect their secrets……. that they possess powerful, superhuman abilities. So, when Jasper finds herself at the centre of an investigation after a freak explosion destroys part of her school, the family must take measures to minimize any potential threat or unwanted attention being focused on them- and try to avoid being exposed. The police become the least of their worries as they come to the attention of a covert group, who have sinister interests in their secret abilities. Then Jasper becomes the sole survivor of her family, after they are all killed in a terrible and devastating event. She finds herself in the unfortunate situation of being the sole suspect in her family’s murder. The Vespers have no choice but to lock her up until she can control her abilities. But people of the order are disappearing at an alarming rate and danger is on the doorstep. Will Jasper learn to control her abilities in time to help the cause? Is she the key to harnessing the powers of Il Separatio and protecting the Vespers and humanity? Will she be able to restore the balance, or will the evil overcome her and win in the end? I really liked the concept of this story- I thought the plot was unique and sounded really interesting. The author really does write well and has quite a dynamic and robust style to her writing. The story is very detailed and descriptive with very complex plot- so many elements and layers went into crafting this story and I think the author has done a great job in choreographing all those details….. There are scenes in the story which are quite dark, gritty and graphically violent, and were really hard to read! Ms. Reyes didn’t shy away from these elements and added a dark, raw realism to her story. The characters were really wonderful. I felt so devastated for Jasper and was with her every step of the way, cheering her on to succeed. I was hoping that she and Jordy would connect more as the story evolved… I am hoping that there will be another book, where we get to explore this connection between them in more detail. As this book ends on somewhat of a cliff-hanger everything is set to continue in Book #2. Bring it on!!!! Happy Reading

Even though they could be classified in the same category they were both pleasantly different. In this story Elinor Chalamet is what you could consider a psychic of sorts. She is using her abilities to find her father killer, however she is pulled into a side investigation by the police when a body turns up in the local canal. She may not have taken up the case but when she heard that the Duke de Archambeau was interested in the case she took it. It seems the Duke is more of a hindrance than a help though on this case. The Protector is the fourth and final book in The Freemasons series by Nicole Flockton. I have absolutely loved reading this series and meeting our sexy Freemasons. And this book certainly finishes the series off on a high note. It was a bit of a bitter-sweet read for me as I wasn’t ready to say goodbye, but at the same time I couldn’t help but devour the book to find out what happens. I didn’t need sleep, I needed answers lol… As with the rest of the series, this is a fantastic contemporary romantic suspense, with plenty of emotion, chemistry, angst, steam, danger, intrigue, action, suspense, sweet and tender moments, heart-warming scenes, recovery, redemption, hope, and healing. It has a ‘brothers-best-friend/best-friends-sister element which was the perfect way to end the series. After everything that Renee has been thorough, and the Freemasons in finding/rescuing her, she considers herself broken and ‘tainted goods’ unworthy of being loved. Declan’s protective nature comes to the fore, and he’s determined to do whatever it takes to protect her. What happens when the past comes back and threatens to destroy her life, again. Can Declan protect her and keep her safe? Will these two get their chance for their own HEA, or will the past prove too difficult to overcome? This is definitely worth the read to find out…. I highly recommend reading the previous three books before starting on this one, as even though each book focuses on its own particular couple, there are overlapping/common elements, recurring characters, as well as each book contributing to painting a bigger picture… So having all that previous information on board will definitely enhance your reading experience of this book and give you a greater appreciation of the series, as a whole. Now I really can’t wait to see what Ms. Flockton brings us next. Happy Reading!

Ghost Talker is the first book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries series by Byrd Nash. This is a superb Gaslamp fantasy with mystery, crime & investigation, ghosts, history, slow-burn romance, murder, paranormal elements, the supernatural, a dark and moody atmosphere, intrigue, adventure, humour, and much more. I have loved everything I have read by this talented author, so it was never a question of whether I would read this book when it released. I love how Ms. Nash always seems to manage to bring us something different, fresh, new, and intriguing. This story is quite captivating as we join medium Elinor Chalamet as she uses her talents to help solve puzzling mysteries. This is a bit of an historical whodunnit which is cleverly woven into a Gaslight/Gaslamp fantasy period setting. It is fresh, and fun- with wonderful characters and a moody atmosphere which gives the whole story an extra element of interest. This is the first book in this new series which looks to have six instalments- so I am excited to see what Elinor gets up to in the coming books. Bring on Book #2- Delicious Death! Happy Reading…

I was drawn into Stumble and Fall from the cover art. This book warrents a strong trigger warning. The entire book focuses around sexual assault and rape. It was very intense and had me hooked from start to finish. I have not read the first book, so I may be missing some background information, but I still enjoyed the book independently. The beginning had me a little thrown off, trying to determine how all the characters were connected, but it came together mid book. The chapters alternate focus on two sisters- Tilly and Kate. They have similar jobs, both focused on helping those in need and taking down rapists. They have suffered massive tragedy in life but are strong and powerful women. I am not happy with the ending- Tilly’s ending was too abrupt in the epilogue. Kate’s story is left hanging, with a lot left to resolve. There better be a sequel to wrap up her case! Highly recommend this book to those who love crime thrillers and mystery drama, but be cautioned of the content.

This was a great 5 star read. This was a fun office romance read. Evelyn finds herself single and Devlin finally convinces her to go have a friendly drink with him. Let’s just say these two start something very steamy. As we move through the story we get to know each of them. There are secrets, forbidden romance, banter and so much more. Will they get caught? Is what they have worth it?
Over this was a great read. The characters’ chemistry came off the pages. The author does a great job with her writing and pulls you right in. We get some twists and turns that added a great element to the story. If you’re looking for a great read, 1-click and get started today.

Another Freemason down for the count. This is the third book I’ve read in this series and so far The Warrior is my favorite! I will never ever stop gushing about how much I love this author! She writes wonderful series that just suck you in, and keep you wanting more! I feel this book is the darkest one yet. The others were dark leading up to this but it’s starting to reach its climax. Jude and Sienna shared a kiss that will change them for the rest of their lives. Tensions have run high between these two for some time. However they both would consistently deny it. Unfortunately now they can’t. Trying to keep it wrapped up tight between the two of them they keep slipping up. Dominic finally had a solid lead on Jude’s sister Renee and the people who took her. With that knowledge Jude doesn’t want to get his hopes up but is floored when he finds out the plan. Sienna being tasked to go in and help with taking down as well as extraction. Jude’s against it he already lost his sister, what would happen if he lost his heart? Unfortunately he’s overruled, so he tags along instead. The danger these characters go through for the greater good is amazing. The way the author put it into perspective to make someone feel, is undeniable. There’s so much I want to say but I can’t spoil it. I need everyone who loves romance series that have edge and some adventure to check this series out now. If you’ve read the 1st two books, what are you waiting for? Me, I’m waiting for book 4!

I went through many emotions reading this book. I laughed, cried, got frustrated, and even angry. This story follows Madame Elinor Chamalet and her plan to find her father’s murderer and finally gets justice. A certain Duke however has different plans for her and seems to keep getting in her way once she takes on the case of a murder in the canal and ends up in the deep end of the royal matters. Does she end up with the infuriating Duke or does she keeping? This book keeps you on your toes and reading to the very end to see what happens next. I found this book very well written, and paced fairly well. I cant wait to read the rest of the series!
Evelyn just broke up with her long time boyfriend and her coworker Devlin, invites her out. What she didn’t know was they were going back to his place. She resisted at first but it wasn’t long before they couldn’t keep their distance from one another.

The Warrior is the 3rd book in the series of The Freemasons and this book at me at the edge of my seat and having to take deep breaths as Jude finally receives the intel that he needs to rescue his sister that was abducted. Jude has harbored guilt over Renee’s abduction and cannot be happy in his life until he gets her back. When Sienna, former military, and friend volunteers to help with the rescue mission, Jude is hesitant…especially with brewing feelings for Sienna as he does not want to lose her too. The spark between Sienna and Jude is off the charts! Will Sienna, Jude and the team be successful in Renee’s rescue?
This series is fantastic and I highly recommend reading the books in order as the characters are in each of the books and you get to know their stories and how they intertwine. Wonderful, a few dark moments, friends to lovers, action and at the edge of your seat moments!!

I really enjoyed reading The Warrior. The author did such a good job of bringing the story to life that it was as if the story played in my head while I flipped from page to page! I literally could not put it down! Its more than your average romance and each twist and turn will leave you wanting more!
