Scarlet Princess (The Lochlann Feuds, #1)Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If I could give a book more than five stars, this would be one of them! I have not been left this speechless by the end of a book in a very long time, but after reading the Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison, it is safe to say that I am. This book forbade you from putting it down from the moment you picked it up, each paragraph making you question what the ending of this incredible story would be.

The anticipation in this book, however, barely rivals the chemistry between Princess Rowan of Lochlann Kingdom and Lord Theodore of Clan Elk of the Socair Kingdom. Despite all of the heart-racing inducing scenes throughout the book, which at times made me want to yell in frustration, the true captivation of this story lies in what happens between the two of them. Needless to say, the ending of this book had me in tears for many reasons, reasons that I will not give away because everyone deserves to read this amazing book! I am very much looking forward to reading the next novel!

Scarlet Princess (The Lochlann Feuds, #1)Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my first read in this series and if I hadn’t read the reviews, I might not have known other Lochlann books existed. With that being said I fell in love with the authors writing, character development and scene building.
Rowan is a spitfire princess who seems to do things first and then ask questions later. Depicted as the black sheep of her family, always in trouble alongside her cousin Davin. In their latest escapade they get caught in an enemy kingdom and will be judged for their crimes at a summit of the clans. Lord Theodore is as straightlaced and uptight as they come but through shared moments Rowan seems to break through his outer shell to find the strong, protective, caring man that she never knew she needed.
This is a book that teaches you that you cannot judge a book by its cover. Each story has two sides to it and although you may think you know everything there are always circumstances that you cannot even fathom. This book will take you on an emotional ride with Rowan as she learns that actions have consequences, but it is important to uphold your morals. Can Rowan and Theodore overcome generations of hate so they can have a future together? Will her future even last past the summit meeting of the clans? You have to read this book to find out but I promise this is one journey you’ll be glad you took!

Scarlet Princess is your next must read! It was so good that I could hardly put it down. Rowan Pendragon is so relatable. Every smart mouth, sarcastic comment she says is something I would say or at least have thought. Rowan and her cousin Davin accidentally break the laws of a neighboring country. Lord Theodore Korhonan is from Socair and has to take charge of Rowan. Along the way, they develop feelings for each other, but Rowan’s punishment and fate rests in the clans of Socair. Will Theo and Rowan be free to marry each other or will Rowan be sentenced to death for her crime? Find out in the Scarlet Princess!

Scarlet Princess (The Lochlann Feuds, #1)Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“The Scarlet Princess (The Lochlann Feuds #1)” by Robin Mahle and Elle Madison is a combination of the Disney Pixar movie, “Brave” mixed in with a little bit of Sarah J Maas(“A Crown of Wings and Fury” series).

Princess Rowan and her cousin Davin are arrested for trespassing and smuggling, held captive by the “barbarian” country that has been at war with their home of Lochlann, for years. Rowan is able to convince the Socairans to let Davin go free, but in exchange, she is to face a trial at the hands of the elder leaders of the surrounding communities. Accompanied to the Summit by Theo, a Socairan prince, Rowan anxiously awaits her fate- wondering if she will be subject to death. But as the journey goes forward and the Summit date draws near, Rowan and Theo begin to fall for each other even though both know that a relationship between the two rival clans would not be looked at favourably. As the Summit arrives, Rowan fears that she will be separated from Theo forever and Theo wonders if his influence will be enough to save Rowan’s life.

“Scarlet Princess” has nothing in its plotline that will be unexpected. Fans of this genre, and YA fantasy fans, will know exactly what is going to happen and how it will play out. That does not mean, of course, that you can’t enjoy the ride along the way.

Rowan is spunky and wry, unwilling to accept the fate dolled on upon her by the male leaders, every ounce the stereotypical young female role model. Sarcastic and brave, she is the very face of the protagonist we come to expect in a female-led YA fantasy series. Theo too, is the “well built, handsome and chiseled” prince whose love for Rowan is unexpected, and risky, but the two fall madly in love with each other anyway, after less than two weeks together.

The novel is the first in a series, and I adored Rowan enough that I am invested in seeing what happens next. “Scarlet Princess” is well-written, easy to read, and has great flow. The characters are completely charming and likable, and there is an instant bond between Rowan and the reader. I was invested in what her fate would be, and the ending provided the expected cliff-hanger that comes with a series of novels. “Scarlet Princess” is a light and fun fantasy read, and it will definitely appeal to fans of Sarah J Maas and authors of her ilk.

Scarlet Princess (The Lochlann Feuds, #1)Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison is a captivating story about Rowan. The story opens with Rowan and her cousin Davin sitting in a dungeon. The cousins had been caught smuggling Vodka from Socair to Lochlann. Lord Theodore interrogates the two and states that the punishment for smuggling is death. When Princess Rowan and Lord Davin stand before Duke Iire, he proclaims that the Summit will decide their fate. Much to Lord Davin’s dismay, Princess Rowan gains clemency for him by stating the smuggling was her fault, and he had only come along upon her request. The trip to the Summit lasts several days, and a romance builds between Lord Theodore and the princess. They keep their affair a secret even after they reach the Summit.

Lochlann was blamed for causing a war that caused the deaths of many Socairians. Since Socair consisted of 9 clans, the Summit was where the clans met and formed a council when a decision would affect all of them. Princess Rowan attempts to disguise the one feature that would show her affiliation with Lochlann: her fiery red hair. While at the Summit, Princess Mila befriends Princess Rowan, and introduces her to a different side of Socair. Despite attempting to avoid standing out, the council seems conflicted on what her outcome would be. Will they vote in her favor? Or will she die at the gallows?

I thoroughly enjoyed The Scarlet Princess. The flow of the story was steady with plenty of action. I loved how Princess Rowan was witty and forthcoming, never holding her tongue despite how others viewed her. Her red hair seemed to be considered a curse, and I wonder why that thought seemed validated by everyone. I only was able to connect this to possibly being a trait of Lochlann royalty. The romance between Lord Theodore and Princess Rowan seemed strange at first, but at the Summit, the reasoning fit perfectly. Mahle and Madison created a stunning 5-star book and I sincerely look forward to continuing the series. The ending is wide open for the many possibilities that await Princess Rowan.

Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison is the first book in The Lochlann Feuds series. From the start, I was sucked into this book by the feisty and outspoken Princess Rowan and had to keep reading to find out what happens. Rowan and her cousin Davin find themselves in trouble but this time it’s not with the king but in Socair where they might be punished for smuggling. While they wait their fate, things get interesting in the romance department. I can’t wait to read more about Princess Rowan and Lord Theo!

Holy mother of goodness this book was AMAZING. I read it in only a few hours, unable to stop for anything because I needed to know more of Princess Rowan. She makes me think of Merida from Brave and honestly, Merida is one of my all time favorite princesses. Prince Theo is the man every headstrong princess wants to find and their relationship and the way it develops is beautiful! I legitimately cannot wait until I can find out what comes next in this captivating and breathtaking world with the people that I wish I knew.

Scarlet Princess (The Lochlann Feuds, #1)Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Where to begin? I love my female leads strong, sassy, and a bit of a black sheep. That’s exactly what we have here with Rowan, our Scarlet Princess, that has traveled beyond Lochlann borders into the land of Socair with her cousin Davin. From the sounds of it, these two are often finding and getting into trouble, though, perhaps not quite to this scale. When you wake to find yourself in a dungeon, perhaps one would put on their prettiest, most endearing smile and try to coax their captors into letting them go home, but not Rowan. She leaves quite the first impression, everywhere she goes! I was captivated by the end of the Prologue, not to mention the rest of the novel.

I fell in love with these authors writing style, Robin D. Mahle, and Elle Madison, have a talent that words, funny enough, can’t quite describe. The characters pop, you connect with not only the main characters, but feel the hardships that the villagers go through, and the different leadership styles of those that make up the Socair kingdoms. I had the pleasure of really putting some effort into how I pictured dear Lord Theodore, and was drooling, practically, as their relationship intensified. I will be biting my nails waiting for the next installment of The Lochlann Feuds to grace my kindle with its presence. Thank you for this wonderful adventure, have already recommended to my fellow ‘Outlander’ obsessed friends.

I love a good historical fiction and especially love a heroine with spunk. And this book hit all of the right notes for me. And then to uncover this world and find that it beautifully sets up a series. My only complaint is that I don’t have the rest of this series in my hands to read this minute. Just a beautifully crafted story from two new-to-me authors. Can’t wait to read more!

All great books seem too short when they’re this entertaining! What started out as a simple case of bad luck for Rowan and her cousin quickly escalates within the first few chapters of Scarlet Princess. The plot thickens when we discover they’ve been taken into their enemy’s land and are facing charges that carry a heavier price than they could have ever expected. With the threat of war or worse, Rowan and her captors embark on a cross-country adventure on the way to a meeting that will decide her fate and the fate of the kingdom. Authors Mahle and Madison have woven an enthralling tale that will leave you on the edge of your seat, waiting for book two!

Strong-willed, sassy, sarcastic. There is a unexpected twist, and cliff hanger (I need the 2nd book ASAP). I don’t want to say anymore because I feel it would be giving away spoilers but its definitely a must read for Fantasy Romance readers.

“..but I didn’t want the kind of love you went to war for. I didn’t want the kind of love that could break you.”

There are no words I can coherently put together that describe the love I had for this book. Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison absolutely out did themselves with this. It was funny, it was action packed, with romance and a plot twist at the end that had me reeling. I had to put the book down to process what had happened and am dying for the next one. Rowen is braver, fiercer and more outspoken then any woman in Socair should be but then again she’s not from there, she’s from The Lochlann Realm and she is stuck. It doesn’t help that they hate her on sight but it also doesn’t help that she is a princess of Locklann either. What’s a girl to do but rely on her wit and gut to survive not only for herself but her cousin whom she has brought along with her.

I promise you will not be able to put this down once you start it! This is probably one of my favorite books I’ve read this year and I cannot wait to devour the next one!

I loved this book and was hooked from page one! Rowan, the main character, is a princess in a fictional country. She is sassy and bold and a lot of fun to spend time with as I read. This is the first book I’ve read by the authors. I loved this fantasy romance. It’s an easy read and I really fell in love with the characters Rowan, who is sarcastic and forever getting into trouble, and Theo, whom Rowan is basically forbidden from falling in love with because they come from families with a history of being enemies. Rowan is a character of depth and even with her flaws and slight immaturity she’s a very likeable character. There’s plenty of action, the world-building is immersive, and the pacing and writing flow easily. I am now eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.

The cover of Scarlet Princess instantly made me think it was an adult Brave retelling but that is not a correct statement. While it is about a spunky princess full of rebellion and sass, that’s basically where the comparison ends. Rowan, our princess, gets caught up in an enemy land after trying to smuggle some excellent vodka when the tunnel they are in caves in and closes them off from their path. The rest is a story of romance, adventure, and what fate has in store for them and their lands. If you like the One Bed trope, have we got an even better option for you in Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison.

I was hooked by this story from the very first line: “Death was a hefty price to pay for vodka.” If I lived in the world of Socairns and Lochalnns, I would like to believe that I would be just as sassy and outspoken as our main character, Rowan, and I PROBABLY would have risked my life for a little fun, or in this case, vodka! The connection between Rowan and her love interest, Theo, is great! The overall telling of this story was incredible. I started this book without reading the initial series and was a little worried that I would be lost but Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison did a wonderful job. Scarlet Princess is the first book in the Lochlann Feuds series by Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison.

I loved this book. It was an unexpected breath of fresh air. It is action-packed right from the start, there’s no easing into the story, it really kicks off with a bang.
I really enjoyed the characters, particularly Rowan. She is really relatable which I loved, fiery, full of personality, and always finding herself unintentionally in trouble. When she finds herself at the mercy of her enemy the last thing she expects is to fall for him.
This love story had me hooked from the get-go. The pages turned so fast, I was frustrated at myself for finishing so quickly, but once you get stuck in there’s no stopping. I can’t wait to read book two.
