Key To His Heart: Single Parent Romance

This book had me all of the place.  I couldn’t figure out what was happening between Kat and TJ but I was liking it.

Kat had a lot of changes happen over a very short period of time and I think she handled it amazingly well.   Until she didn’t and couldn’t figure out what was happening.

TJ went to do his Aunt a favor and his world changed in the best possible. I may have started crushing on him as the story went on.  Nothing hotter than a guy who will step up and help raise a child that isn’t his biologically.

I was lucky enough to find my own TJ when my daughter was little and sometimes don’t appreciate enough all he went through to adjust to no only be a spouse but also a Daddy.

This book was worth every single second I spent reading it.  I really liked all of the major characters and most of the secondary.   I will be looking to get caught up on the other books by this author.

One Unexpected Gift (Band of Sisters)

I really enjoyed this book, my favorite person being Gabriella but I also really liked Nick and Skylar and two places near and dear to me were mentioned.  Virginia is where I was born and raised and Austin which is home now.

Some of my favorite parts of the book involve spoilers I can’t go too much into it, but watching the relationship between Skylar and Nick grow and change as each challenge is thrown their way was very heartwarming to me.

I always get a little too invested when it’s a group of friends that I really like and that is what has happened.   I love these girls and their friendship and love for one another.   I’m lucky enough to have a similar relationship two friends, but we aren’t a trio.

I really hope these ladies pop up again in a different series mostly because I’m nosey and want to know what happens next.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

One In A Billion (Pierce Brothers Book 3)

Another Pierce brother has fallen and I loved reading how it happened.  From their interesting first meeting they and their interactions were anything but normal or what you would expect.

Victoria and Seth are great as friends. They had amazing chemistry but it was so much more than that.  It’s hard for me to put into words, but they just work.

Seth is much deeper than I expected and not your typical Billionaire and I might have started crushing on him just a bit.

Victoria has her life pretty together, not going to lie, little jealous.  She has a great best friend and professionally things are not perfect but not horrible.

I really enjoyed every moment spent reading and I cannot wait for the final brother to fall in love.

Here’s what I thought of Murder Creek by Jane Suen:

I gave it 4/5 stars.

Murder Creek (Eve Sawyer Mystery Book 1)

This book went by way too fast though I didn’t realize it at the time.  I have listened to a lot of audiobooks, especially over the last 2 1/2 years working from home, there have been a few that have drawn me in like this but not many.  I was caught up in the story immediately and had a hard time pausing it when I got calls for work.

Marni Penning’s voice was just perfect and only helped draw me in further. I will definitely look for more books narrated by her.

Eve’s curiosity about Murder Creek and in turn what happened to Lacey all those years ago.  She doesn’t give up until she has answers and some of these answers are where she least expected them to be.

I’m looking forward to the the next book and what gets into next.

Body Checked: A Frenemies-to-Lovers Hockey Romance (Astoria Bay Thunder Book 2)

I think I may have fallen a little harder for Bridger in this book.  We knew him as the goofy, hot hockey player and thankfully we still get that side of him. We also get the time to grow up and do my job side.  He is definitely in my top 10 of Book Boyfriends for now.

Tia is exactly what Bridger needs.  She has her head on,  but isn’t too serious and knows how to have fun.  I loved her in the first book, but I might have developed a little crush on her.  I would love to have her as a friend.

Bridger is finally growing up and takes his job as enforcer seriously on and off the ice.  I really enjoyed watching both Tia and Bridger grow as individuals and there was more than a few laughs at comments made.

I have quickly fallen in love with this series and author.   I can’t wait to see who Cupid’s next victim is.

The Happily Ever After Bookstore

When I started reading it felt weird reading a holiday story in July, then I kept going and it wasn’t a holiday book and I ended up enjoying it.

There were 3 stories with in the book, though individuals there are also crossed with the center being Leona and her bookstore.   That is where the magic happens.

Charlie and Sadie were just meant to be together.  They meet at the bookstore though their paths should gave crossed several times before that fateful day.

Price and Fiona kind of broke my heart.   They loved each other but life had other plans for them.  They are reunited at the bookstore after several years.

Leona the unofficial match maker has helped with at least two couples (I’m betting there were more that we have no clue about) finding their happily ever after but neglected herself and her happiness.

This was a book that warmed my heart a little and was glad I picked it up.

Love is Worth Fighting for (The Meraki Series Book 3)

I loved this book though it did trigger me a bit with Covid and hospitalization during that time.  I was admitted for 9 days for something thankfully not Covid in May of 2020, my only company was the hospital staff during that time.  I know how lonely and afraid I felt at times, couldn’t imagine not being able to say goodbye to a loved one.

Loukas and Krystina have known each other their entire lives and have had their ups and downs during those years but a global pandemic changes everything for them.  They certainly deal with a lot in this book and I shed several tears all the way through.

Loukas makes me want to hug him for so many reasons.   His family and how lost he feels at times really brings out the Mama bear in me.

Krystina’s fire and determination were great with a touch of frustrating at times.  She like all of the other members of her family are very passionate and feels everything with her heart.

I really want to be adopted by this amazing family.  The pride in their Greek heritage and how important family is and it doesn’t matter if they are blood or not.  The recipes shared are an added bonus for sure.

The Lie That Binds

This was a little harder for me to read than I expected once I found out the details of Nathan’s lie, especially since I have two family members who have dealt with this exact situation.   I had several memories come back to me that I hadn’t thought about for years and not many were pleasant.

Holly grabbed me from the beginning.   She is from Amarillo, Texas which is where my father in law is from and she even went to the same high school as he did.  It was a nice little connection which I appreciated and stuck with me throughout the book.

Nathan gave me a lot of anxiety, but it didn’t detract from his personality for me.  I wish he would have expected been honest from the beginning and saved me a lot of stress.

This is not my first book by this author and won’t be the last, though I will need to remember how anxious she can make me at times.

The Mastermind : A Brother’s Best Friend Romance (WaterFyre Rising Book 1)

I am once again amazed by a first time author and their debut.  I was hooked from the very beginning and had a hard time putting it down.  I dropped my kindle on my face a few times because I had to keep going.

This book had a little bit of everything and several twists that I didn’t come close to expecting which may have made me enjoy it that much more since so often books can be predictable.

Remington and Audri are more than perfect together.  They had a lot to deal with, more than the normal couple to get to their moment.

The sparks were flying from my kindle as I read the beginning of Grayson’s house warming party, the description of the car was perfectly detailed and just wow.

There is so much more I could say but won’t since most of it pertains to certain pivotal moments.  What I will say is be ready to be surprised,  there is nothing typical about this book.

This is an author I will be looking forward to reading again in the future.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Finding Starlight: A Small Town, Romantic Suspense (The Quimby Grove Series Book 1)

I was hooked from the beginning and I honestly don’t know what it was that got me.  Was it Ellawyn and her back story?  Was it Benji and how he made everyone feel like family earn they were at Starlight Books, especially Ellawyn?  Was it Beckett droppibg everything tge moment his grandfather asked?  Not sure, but I couldn’t get enough.

I wanted to hug Ellawyn the moment flipped to page two and it never ended.  She’s an amazingly strong woman though she definitely doesn’t see the strength and continues to focus of what she thinks are weaknesses.

Beckett is every grandparents dream,  the moment his grandfather Benji called he dropped everything in Boston and went home without a second thought.

I loved watching Ellawyn grow and come out of her self imposed shell as time passes.  Benji had a lot to do with that, but it was so much more than that.

I was surprised to see this was the first book by this author.  If this is what she gives us the first time, I’m really excited to read the next book.

Victoriously Yours (Titans Of Manhattan Book 4)

Well she did it once again.  We get to see another Titan fall and it was so entertaining.

Let’s be honest,  of all of the Titans, Jonas came across as the most arrogant jerk of the group.  As we learn more about him I think jerk is too nice of name.  He  was not a good person in his younger years, end of story.

Flash forward ten years, he hasn’t changed a lot. If anything he is even more arrogant now.  But a chance encounter with an high school flame changes everything.

Kenzie has come a long way from the girl who was heartbroken in high school.  Full of confidence and on the verge of a successful career as a chef she is floored when she sees him again.  Thankfully her best friend and sous chef Reece is there to help her in life and in the kitchen.

I’m a amateur foodie and love watching the cooking competition shows.  All I could think of was a steamer version of Top Chef.  Not sure why that popped into my head, but once it popped in I couldn’t get it to leave.

Loved this book and everything about it.   Can’t wait for the next one.

Levi is a man child whose favorite past time is woman, drinking and gaming.  He has watched his friends find their special ladies but he isn’t willing to risk his heart.

Kindle is a hero! She is strong, independent and has no problems telling a man (Levi) no.

Levi was a frustrating character but extremely likable in my opinion.   He put love in a box that he was unwilling to touch when it was really what he needed the most.

He had been through some stuff that scarred him, which most people have, he just didn’t handle it like an an adult would or should.

I enjoyed watching Levi grow up and change into the man he should have been.

Caging Grace (The Grace Series Book 1)

I had no expectations going in since this is a new author and this book is their first full length, though the synopsisgot my attention.

I have to say I was quite impressed with the total package.  The characters, story were well written and have a great depth to them. Really think we have only scratched the surface with Grace and not even that far with Johnny and I have so many questions about everything and everyone.

I loved watching Grace develop and evolve throughout this book.  I may have obsessively thought about the book for a day or two after I finished which caused me to not be able to get started on my next book.

I could go on and on about this book, but instead of that I’m going to tell you to read it.  It is anything but the typical romance.

Dark Sparrow Box Set: The Complete 6-Book SeriesDark Sparrow Box Set: The Complete 6-Book Series by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cold Bastard

The heat between Archer and Zoe is off the charts and there is one scene I had to give myself a minute. Who knew a conversation could be so hot?

This book and series is a good mix of suspense, romance and comedy. There were some laugh out loud moments from a few different people, one of which I didn’t expect.

Wild Bastard

Kai is a strong alpha who was once brought to his knees by a woman but he’s determined not to let that happen again.

Isabel has become a successful owner of a PR firm which has really taken off in the last couple of years. She’s approached by Jamison Finch to help him but is this a good idea or will she be working with the devil.

True Bastard

This series has been amazing so far and I love Liam and how he makes sure he is nothing like his father which I could relate to. He’s quite the stand up guy and he would do anything for Catriona even when he felt like he should be fighting it.

Catriona is an amazing woman with a heart of gold and God’s ear. She brings so much happiness and joy to everyone she meets. Cary and Ted broke and melted my heart.

Dark Bastard

Dark is the perfect description for Sam.   His history with his “father” is something worse that I imagined it to be.  I knew Finch was the scum of the earth but he has proven that title is too kind.

Sam manages to try and climb out of the darkness only after a misdialed call and fate has something else in mind for him.

Ellie is something else,  she wants to help everyone and seems to have taken it upon herself to save them even if they don’t want to be saved and it’s taken it’s toll on her.   Her need to save may be just what Sam needs.

I know going in there will be some danger and suspense when I read the books from this series, but I for some reason seem surprised when it happens, but I can’t seem to put the book down no matter what.

The relationship these brothers have is amazing, though not raised together they have an incredibly tight bond which leaves no doubt on who has their backs.

Unlikely to Tell (A Parker Lake Novel Book 4)

I knew I missed my friends in Parker, but didn’t realize how much until I cracked open the book and started reading. Felt like coming home and I squealed in happiness when Kelda made her first appearance.

I have loved each of the couples individually and together but Kelda is by far my most favorite character and old lady I have ever read about and I hope I’m a quarter as amazing, flamboyant and not caring what the world thinks as she is. She is my old lady goal.

We finally get to know Karen and she didn’t disappoint me in the least. I hate how she isolated herself but so happy she met Breckin and was dragged into their group kicking g and screaming.

Brody, oh Brody.  I hate he felt like Parker was the place to avoid at all costs and lost all of that valuable time with his Dad and Sister, but oh so happy he found his way home.

I love everything about this book, series and author.  Can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

As Close to Perfect

The title fits this book perfectly.   I enjoyed this book.  I laughed,  worried, got mad and couldn’t stop reading.

Nate’s charm came through the moment we meet him and never fades even when things were up in the air.  He’s down to earth even with his background and family.

Steven was easy to fall for. Great job and on the fast track to move up further the ladder and the drive to are that happen as well as a deep desire to find the one.  As Bree said he checked all of her boxes, but sometimes things aren’t as they seem.

Bree had baggage after being hurt several times in the past.  She stops over thinking everything and follows her heart even though it wasn’t the easiest path.

Bree had a great support system with her family and her friends who I absolutely adored and can’t wait for them the find their soulmates.

Tickety Tock: Wicked Warriors MC Arizona Chapter

As soon as I heard there was a new series coming out by this author I knew I was going to read it without knowing many details about the series.

Once again she delivered a great book that I throughly enjoyed and couldn’t put down.  I loved the characters and starting to learn and know about this new group of bikers.

Dwarf’s name says it all, he’s a shorter than average man.  He’s tired of women talking to him only to meet his buddies and has been passed up by many women all because of his height. He is definitely a prince in disguise.

Raven meets Dwarf when he least expected it and feeling down after a tough visit with friend.  Who knew the chance encounter could take such an interesting turn.

I truly loved this story.  I have a feeling this will be another MC I will be stalking.

Heart Broken (Satan’s Devils MC #5) Audio Book by Manda Mellett – Review by Robin Rankin

Heart Broken
Satan’s Devils MC, Volume 5

I am 100% obsessed with the Satan’s Devils.  The members of this MC are absolutely the best of the best of the bad boys.  They may come across as intimidating and scary but when they find their soulmates they are brought to their knees and will do anything to make their loves happy.

Though one book it could have been two with as different as the halves were.

Beginning is Heart going on his Ronin journey after losing his wife.   How gets through the beginning stages of his grief and does some serious soul searching.  Definitely not an easy journey.

Then there is the second half which had so much happen and kept me listening even when I had things to get done.

Once again Sierra Kline and Logan McAllister brought to life my favorite MC in an amazing way.

Looking forward to the next book which will have me almost caught up.

Perfect ending to this trilogy.  This author is on my list to automatically read without looking at the cover or reading the synopsis,  though the cover would have drawn me in if I was not familiar with her.

Gage and Juliet meet in the most interesting way and that is just the beginning of the interesting moments.

There are some incredibly hot moments that are not for the weak or pearl clutchers that is for sure.

Once again this author delivers a book I enjoyed reading.  If you have read anything by her yet I highly recommend this book which could be read as a standalone,  though I would start at the beginning.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series (Books 1-5)

Run to the Sea is the first book in the Reigning Hearts series. I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them all.

Emmeline and Thomas have such a sweet story. They started out as childhood best friends and then Thomas disappeared without a word. They run into one after quite a few years and they are both blind sided by the run in.

Thomas had lost who he was due to being blinded by an ambition to prove himself. This story is so much more than a romance it is also about someone rediscovering who they are and where they really belong with a little help from friends and family.

Stars Fall From the Sky is the second book in the Reigning Hearts series.

I fell in love with this story from the beginning. I cried on and off all the way through and was so emotional after finishing it in had to give myself some time to process the story and my emotions.

Ginger’s grief slayed me. I cried for her so many times even when I wasn’t reading the book which doesn’t happen to me very often.

Jonathan was charming, sweet and overall an amazing man. He was more important in Ginger’s working past her grief than either one of them realized.

This is an amazing book about a woman and a man having a second chance in love and worth every year I shed and second I spent reading it.

A Sun So Bright is the third book in the Reigning Hearts series. This one got me in the feels big time.

Fiona the poor little rich girl is so much more than what we saw before. We we get to know the real her and learn why she is the way she is.

Chris is not your average guy. He is an amazing man who would do anything for his Mama and that’s important to us Southern girls.

Chris brings out the best of and the real Fiona and because of him she discovers who she really is and her purpose in life.

I’ll See You Again: A Scottish rock star, standalone opposites-attract romance (Reigning Hearts Book 4)

Oh my goodness, this book had me all over the place. I laughed and was happy, I got angry and even cried reading this book. I had a few moments where I really wasn’t happy with the direction of the story but it wouldn’t have worked any other way so I got over it. Sort of.

Nicky finally has her story with a little help from her friend Amber. What girl hasn’t dreamt of meeting a hot musician? I can remember quiet a few I dreamt about over the years.

Mac had me wrapped around his finger fairly early on and it only got worse (for me) as I read further.

A Cold Creek Christmas: A single dad, small town holiday novella (Reigning Hearts Book 5)

This book saved me while I was home sick.  I was able read it between my naps and even helped me stay awake a little longer because I did not want to put it down.

Amber and I had something huge in common and that is neither of us being a big fan of Christmas. Our reasons are similar but different.  I loved watching Amber evolve from lonely but content to a happy and in love.

I enjoyed this story so much and loved the way it ended.  Happy tears may have been shed.

The Cruiser: A Millionaire Romance (The Hustlers Trilogy Book 1)

I don’t know where to start.  There was so much I enjoyed about this book.  Vandana and Morgan were such an electric pair from the moment they met.   The hotness factor was off the charts.

I’m not a traveler, never left the Country and haven’t been out of Texas in  over five years, but I was able to feel the magic and glamour of Monaco as I was reading.  I don’t think I will ever get a chance to visit it but I was able to live vicariously.  You could tell a lot of time and research was done on the professions and the locations.

Vandana wasn’t at all what I was expecting, I felt considering her roots, where she lives and what she does she would be more of a diva and drama queen but she seemed to be the exact opposite which endeared her to me even more.

I could go on for hours about Morgan and the magnetic pull he has not only on Vandana but every other woman he comes across.  But instead l’m going to tell you to read the book. Totally worth every minute of lost sleep.

The bar has been set high on this series and I can’t wait for the next installment.

Targeting Dart (Satan’s Devils MC #4) by Manda Mellett – Review by Robin Rankin

Targeting Dart (Satan’s Devils MC Book 4)

Since I found this series later I love that I can now listen to the earlier books and get the stories how some of the members met their old ladies.

This is Dart and Alex’s story and I loved it. From the way they met, to how he figures it out to him claiming her as his.  They are not a couple you would have expected to see in an MC but they work so well together.

I knew about Alex from later books but her story is both amazing and heartbreaking at the same time.  Anyone with a child or children knows you would do whatever necessary to protect and provide them with what they need.

Sierra Kline and Logan McAllister do a great job bringing Alex and Dart to life as well as the other character.   I can’t wait to listen to the next book in this series.

Saving Marvel (Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation Book 4)

I couldn’t get enough of this book.  Though it’s a 2nd generation book it’s about one of the “old timers” who hung out in the background mostly until now.

Marvel was always just there but with his comments about the old ladies when one of his brothers fell hinted at a story and what a story he had to tell.

Virginia had a story that most people couldn’t even imagine.   The pieces she was left to pick up because of her Ex was more than most people could have handled. She tried to put it behind her but others would not allow that to happen.

I loved the main characters in this.  Most books in this genre are my kids age, it was nice to find a book about people close to my age getting their second chance with love.

Another great book in this amazing series.   I find it amazing that this author has been able to write these amazing books one after another. Can’t wait to see who is next.

Until there was you

Ever have a book just suck you in at the very beginning and then refuse to let you go?   That is what this book did to me and I couldn’t tell you what it was that did it.

Regan broke my heart from the start.  Born and raised on the South side of Boston which is notoriously a tough place to grow up and even harder to leave. Her family wasn’t what she deserved but she didn’t let that stop her from accomplishing her goals.

Jeremy life is the exact opposite.  Only child with very successful parents never wanted for anything.   I know opposites tend to attract but they were polar opposites.

The passion between them was intense from the very beginning.  And it really seemed to be enough until it wasn’t.

Bed time is my usual reading time and I may have stayed up a lot too late reading this book.  I felt like I couldn’t get enough.

Once again she delivered a great book.  She has become one of the authors I will read without reading the synopsis and not be disappointed.

Luc and Summer are a great addition to this series.  I loved them both instantly and looking forward to their story to continue in the next book.

Luc is a self made successful man and oozes confidence and success.   He takes care of his family and will stop at nothing to do that.

Summer has potential but bad luck.  She thinks she was able to start over far from home but ghosts from her old life have the potential of messing all of that up.

I enjoyed every minute of this book and was a little sad to see it end.  I really fell in love with these characters and of course love all of the couples from the previous books.

I hope Nicole is able to find happiness in the future,  she deserves it.

What a great way to say goodbye to this amazing series and characters.  I think it was the perfect ending but will miss them.

Wasn’t sure what to expect with Yolanda since she was mentioned but not there in the previous books.  She is a great Mom and wife but definitely showed she is the youngest child.  I felt that she needed to prove she was capable and a grown-up,  but didn’t always act like one.

Michael also has a chip on his shoulder and did everything he could to show people he wasn’t his Dad and could be successful.

I really enjoyed this series and will miss this group of people.

I had been looking forward to this book as soon as I saw which Titan was going to fall next and it did not disappoint.

Though Mason wasn’t a feature character in the first books there was something about him that intrigued me.  I just knew when he finally fell he was going to do it hard and fast.

Rhyann ended up bring so different from the girl we were introduced to in the beginning.  I loved watching her evolve throughout the story and discovering who she was.

This  book was hard to put down for me.  I found myself thinking about the story even when I wasn’t reading it and after I was done.

This book and series is worth the time.

(Un)Loved (Mixed Emotions Book 1)

As much as I enjoyed this book I also found myself getting quite frustrated with Sophie and Gil I wanted them to just figure it all out and be happy, but good things happen or patience is a virtue or something like that.

Their time in France with his family and the animals was my favorite time, i know i giggled a few times.  I mean how can you go wrong when llamas and other animals are involved?

There are so many little things about this book that made me enjoy it.  Gil’s family definitely took a little piece of my heart with them.

Doctor in the Outback (Welcome to Bunya Junction, Book 3) by Nicole Flockton – Review by Robin Rankin

Doctor in the Outback (Welcome to Bunya Junction Book 3)

I have been looking forward to this book since finishing the last and I wasn’t disappointed.   There is something about finding love in the Outback that I have enjoyed.

Scott has watched his twin and younger brother find love and was ready for it to be his turn but didn’t expect to find it in such a remote area.

Franceen held on to the pain and guilt for too long and was okay with being on her own, at least she thought so until she stops fighting her feelings.

This was a great book to get lost in and enjoy.
