Boss’s Vendetta (Sicilian Gods Book 1) by Via Mari – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

Boss's Vendetta: Dark Mafia Romance (Sicilian Gods Book 1)Boss’s Vendetta: Dark Mafia Romance by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Boss’s Vendetta is a dark, mafia, romance. Dr. Adrianna Palento sought out a job with the Larussio mob family, in Las Vegas. She secretly is looking for her father’s killer and believes it was someone in the Larussio family, even though she has never known her father. What she didn’t expect was Salvatore Larussio. Salvatore is the next in line to become don of the family and is also instantly taken by the new doctor. However, in the family, not just anyone is allowed to infiltrate their walls, so Salvatore trys to ignore the feeling. Whether or not Adrianna “hates” Salvatore and what he stands for, she refuses to let any one person suffer when hurt. The family is attacked during a wedding and many had to go into hiding, including the doctor. While “trapped” underground, Salvatore and Adrianna have a little bit of time to explore this attraction. However, what will happen when he finds out Adrianna’s secrets? Can he find a way to keep her safe from his own family?
Mafia romance is one of my favorite genres. I thought this particular mafia romance was a little different then the ones that I have recently read. I guess I feel that way because it seems more realistic then most. I enjoyed the mystery of the characters and the development of the romance between Salvatore and Adrianna. As characters go, Salvatore was your typical dark, semi-souless mafia boss. But I did enjoy that he was honest with her throughout the book about his darkness and what would happen to her if certain things took place. Adrianna, she was an amazing character. I thought she was realistic, smart, cunning, honest, and I really loved how she never showed fear to Salvatore. She always stood her ground even in the face of evil which made me love her even more. Adrianna was also brave as hell ever step of the way and in every decision she made!

Rivals (Mafia Elite Book 7) by Amy McKinley – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

Rivals (Mafia Elite, #7)Rivals by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well I feel like a broken record, lol. I have said the same about the last 6 books in this series, I loved it. This is my favorite mafia romance series I have read. In Rivals, this is about Mia, one of the New York mob boss’ daughter. Mia grew up sheltered by her father, Joey, and abused by her step-brother Ricco. Her family is not a respected mafia family and she also come to learn about her family’s hand in a sex traffiking ring. Mia wants out and her freedom but her only way to do that is to escape. Mia needs to escape and find Nico La Rosa for protection through marrying him. Since they are technically not allies, Nico has a hard time trusting her when she shows up demanding this marriage. However, the benefits seem to outweigh the red flags. The two of them, after marriage, work to take down her old family. During this process, the two of them find out that they actually have come to care for each other, which completely surprises Nico since he never thought he would marry. Are the two of them able to take down the New York family and find the love Mia never thought she would have?
I have already said it, I loved this book in the series. Once again, the author always knows how to blend love, loyalty, protection, and strong characters into an amazing romance story. Mia is great. While she may have been sheltered, she still grew up in the mafia life and could kick some major ass. She is extremely cunning and a strong character. Nico, just like the rest of the Chicago family mafia men, is amazing. He is a calm present, but deadly. Nico is also low key caring, protective, but also a lover who values honesty and freedom. He never takes that freedom away from Mia, even when he is not trusting her fully. The two of them did not have much banter because of their circumstances, but the author progressed their story so well, the love just shown through the whole story. If you have not read any of these mafia books yet, you are missing out.

Truth or Kill (Twisted Legends Collection Book 1) by A.C. Kramer – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

Truth or Kill (Twisted Legends Collection, #2)Truth or Kill by A.C. Kramer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Truth or Kill is a dark romance about a girl named Sydney who finds herself, during spring break, at a retreat with one of her teammates. However, she is confused about why she was asked to come, they were not really friends and her teammate and the people she associates with are heirs to a tech company. She comes to find out that every heir or heiress to the company is here for a “team building” seminar. During the seminar they are introduced to a game called “Truth or Kill”. Sidney doesn’t understand why she needs to be a part of it, but it forced to play this game. During all of this she meets a manager of the resort, Kage. She sees him as similar to her, but senses he is different too. She finds a little bit of solace in him as the game is started and many of the participants’ truths are surfacing, which are not very becoming. Sydney finds herself in many unpredictable scenes with either Kage or the heirs/heiresses during the stay. She quickly starts to put the pieces together about what could possibly be going on and she comes to realize she has to play or she will not make it to the end. She is smart and witty and with the “help” of Kage finds a way to fight. Throughout the “game” she starts to have feelings for this dark and dangerous man, Kage. Will he keep her, help her, or possibly kill her? Will she save herself?
I really enjoyed this dark romance. I felt that as I read I was solving a puzzle, which is one of my favorite things to do. As for the characters, Sydney was amazing as a leading woman. She was vulnerable, but mostly brutally honest and strong minded. As someone who can get into the dark romances and bullying scenarios, I really loved Kage. I think what was refreshing about him is the honesty factor his character brought. He was brutal, dangerous, smart, cunning, but also never hid those things from Sydney. She knew what she was getting herself into, for the most part when it came to Kage, and still chose to trust him. I also love how you saw his development, he never became less dark, but he did allow some light in. There were some trigger warnings: knife play, choking, and guns.

Collateral Damage (Mafia Elite Series Book 6) by Amy McKinley – Review by Jessica Stone

This is the first book I’ve read from this author or in this series, there are multiple books that come before this one but you do not have to have previously read those to understand this story. This story, Collateral damage, follows Hayley and Trey.

Trey still reeling from the death of his previous girlfriend meets Hayley prior to this book but chooses to walk away having not healed from his loss.
Months later Hayley gets kidnapped, and Trey is asked by Hayley’s step father Allen,(who sits on the board of the hospital Trey works at and Hayley’s mom owns)to find and save Hayley from whatever fate awaits her, Trey will do anything to get Hayley back.

After some crazy twist and turns Hayley and Trey end up in a twisted web of lies and secrets that just might tear them apart or worse one of them could wind up dead.

A very slow burn, friends to lovers, mafia romance, with just the right amount of action. I can’t wait to read more in this series. It introduces you to many faces who have their own books in the series and if they are as good as this one I’ll be on the edge of my seat the entire time.

No Way Out by Amy McKinley was such a great read! It was so intense and filled with suspense I had a really hard time putting it down when it was time to go to sleep. This action-packed story will keep you interested throughout the whole book. You’ll be rooting from some characters, while dislike/hating others, and wondering about some more. No Way Out (Mafia Elite, #1)No Way Out by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amy McKinley is my favorite author right now!! Everything she writes is just amazing. She has a way to write a story that is just relatable, steamy, and just gives you all the feels. No Way Out is a mafia romance between Max and Liliana, two opposing mafia families. Liliana, at the beginning, is a pawn in her father’s mafia ways, but Max eventually comes to her rescue. Max is a son of a mob boss, who was thought to have died. Both characters have been betrayed by their families, but find it among themselves to unite together, safeguard each other, and find true love through the craziness of their mafia lives. I cannot wait till this October when the next book comes out!!!

Moonlit Kiss (A Venice Romance)Moonlit Kiss by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After reading this book, I am dying to return to Venice, just like Gianna. This book was a true romantic story of how past and present days collide. It made you believe, in not only true love, but second chances. As an artist myself, I truly enjoyed every aspect of this book from learning the history of the city, superstitions of the locals, and could just picture the gorgeous art that is about the city. I fell in love with these characters through Amy’s writing and felt that I was witnessing it all, like I was there. This was the first of her books that I read and cannot wait to go back and read ALL of her others!!

Broken Circle (A Gray Ghost Novel, Book 1) AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Bobbi Wagner

I enjoyed listening to this audio.  The narrator pulled me in with tone of voice.  The narrator kept it engaging and made me want to listen to more.  This is a fun, entertaining, suspenseful story to listen to, I can’t wait for the next one.  The characters in this book are lovable and connectable.  This story is about betrayal, misconceptions and seeing things for what they are. This is the story of Liv. She seems to have the best marriage to those looking in from the outside.   She overhears one of his phone conversations but what she doesn’t realize is how it will change her life from that point forward. Will she get to see another side of Alex she didn’t realize existed? He wants nothing more than to protect her but what will happen when he puts her in danger? Will this be a second chance for them or will they need to fear for their lives? All of the characters make this story flow into an action packed story. I highly recommend this audio.  I am glad I picked it up and so will you be

Grumbler’s Ride: Satan’s Devils MC San Diego #2 by Manda Mellett – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur

Grumbler's Ride (Satan's Devils MC San Diego #2)Grumbler’s Ride by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a book for those over 18 only due to it’s graphic nature.

This is another fantastic installment of the Satan’s Devils MC series, this one is again based in San Diego and this one is Grumbler’s story, Grumbler is a man full of tattoos and his bike is his pride and joy, he has customised it completely and is always looking to improve it, but it is known in the club as his old lady!

We begin the story with Grumbler going for another tattoo in the club’s shop, he had a patch of skin to fill and now it is done, he has a skull smoking a cigarette as a tribute to his friend Smoker who has recently passed away and is really happy with the result. He reminisces about Smoker, as he leaves the shop and as he is walking towards his motorcycle, he thinks about how he spends his money on her and the crash he recently had which damaged it and broke his leg in the process and how it is still paining him now. He hears someone shouting as he is preparing to drive off and doesn’t realise it is at him, until he takes his helmet off and sees someone running towards him. It turns out that his bike has caught the eye of a photographer and he wants to take some pictures of it, he introduces himself as Devon Starr and uses flattery to try and get Grumbler to agree to let him do the photos, at first, Grumbler is wary and thinks that it may be too good to be true, but pride takes over when he thinks that it could be used on a motorcycle magazine or book and as he hashes out a deal with Devon, he is told that it would be for the cover of an MC romance novel and that his bike is the focus, not him, but he is thinking about how doing nothing and getting paid for it sounds like a good idea, so he gives Devon his number and that is the end of that.

When we next see Grumbler, it is in church where they are discussing the club businesses and how they are doing financially, as well as other business around the other club chapters around the country, this flows as usual and decisions are made, it leads to Grumbler reminiscing about the club’s past and the troubles they had, as well as troubles with another chapter, as well the members within the chapter they had trouble with. It also leads him to reminisce more about how a fellow member Niran had to help him with his role as Sergeant At Arms, as well as becoming close when he helped him to recover from his injuries, with his experience with living with an injured leg as Niran had lost one of his. He talks to Niran after church has finished and discusses the stock check and that he is trying to get the other members to log when they take anything out, but that they aren’t inclined to do it, to which they have a laugh about it. Grumbler goes to have a drink at the club bar as the club gets louder and the girls start to settle into the evenings activities, he looks around and thinks about how they are all sexy, but too young for him. He is propositioned by one of the girls, but decided to pass as he is feeling his age and isn’t as interested as he used to be in his younger days, he also thinks some more about his younger days, Smoker and how his Prez had found his old lady, he decides to go for a ride to get out of his own head before an early night.

The next day, he gets up early and goes down for some breakfast and conversation, he talks about the club’s Prez and his old lady looking for a house and how he will miss it when they go, mainly because her cooking has improved the standard of the food in the clubhouse. He discusses his plan for the day and decides to go to the harley store to see if there is anything new for his bike, when he gets a message from the photographer asking if he is free at three that afternoon to do the photoshoot, he agrees and then heads off with Niran to the store where they drink coffee, have a chat with the other customers and but what they want. As Niran leaves in one direction, Grumbler heads back to the club for a bite to eat before heading out to the photoshoot, he is the first to get there, followed by a young lady and her mum, the photographer and finally the male model. As the shoot is happening, Grumbler ends up talking to Mary who is the girl’s mum, they both shout when the models do something they don’t like and they bond a bit over it, soon enough the shoot ends and as all the parties say goodbye, they think nothing more about it until Grumbler finds out a couple of months later that the photographs have been used, but he hasn’t received his payment and this is where the story really gets going.

As Grumbler and Mary get back into contact with each other, they realise something is a bit fishy, but what they are getting themselves into, nobody was expecting or prepared for and what they find leads their paths to intertwine in a surprising way. What will the future hold for the two and will it all end in misery? The only way to find out is to read along and see!

Ink’s Devil: Satan’s Devils MC Colorado Chapter #5 by Manda Mellett. Once again this author shows me why I read everything she offers readers. Again I found myself up well into the night hook to every word written. This book can be read as a stand-alone but I do highly recommend all the others. Ok I’m pretty sure I’ve become a broken record but these main characters may just be my favorite ones yet. They completely had me drawn into their world. They are so well developed I couldn’t help but root for them and wish I wasn’t just reading about them. The storyline is well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. This author has a smooth writing style that hooks you from page one. I’m so excited to see where we’re taken next. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!

I chose to review book 2 as it is my favorite.
In this book you will find suspense, a little twist and a whole lot of forbidden love. They can be a standalone but best to read the series from the beginning.

Zoe Somersby has taken her job to the limit. Her specialty is translating many languages, under cover. But she does not let on so, she can hear what is needed. To keep her boss safe. Be his ears during his business dealings. Learning everything could come to a halt. After all she did sign a contract stating she could not get involved with the boss personally!

Archer Blackwood is the CEO of his own company, extremely good looking but, he is cold and ruthless. Loaded with money Archer is in control of everything. He has hired Zoe, the one and only woman that has gotten under his skin. He has no time for falling in love?

India Kells is an exciting new author for me. She sucked right into her book. This story was filled with all kinds of angst and twists. Her characters will make you fall in love with them, well some of them anyway. Others will just keep you wondering when they will get to meet Karma. Now that she has a boxed set I can read them again all together. A must if you love re reading the series as I do. So feel free to get started with this series. I will be out here waiting for her next series.

This is a full length novel. You will find this to be a Romantic Suspense story.

Melissa and Pyro are the main characters in this book. It is their story!
Melissa is a strong independent woman. Never thought she would ever find her true mate. Let alone find him in The Satan’s Devils motorcycle club. Pyro was never going to settle down. He is (shhhh) the sweetest man ever. He takes Melissa as a friend and her protector. Life is an unexpected adventure. He soon finds himself, questioning himself. No Spoilers!

Manda Mellett has done it again. Her story picks up where she left off in chapter # 3. Please stop here if you have not read #1- #3. While you can read this as a standalone, you really should try to read the others first. You will find this book well written and fast paced. A true page turner loaded with action and a really unique romance. I truly have enjoyed Manda Mellett’s motorcycle stories. This one being my favorite, although I say that after each book. Well done Manda Mellett! I’ll be waiting for #5.

Rogue Wave (The Inland Seas Series Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Robin Rankin

Rogue Wave (The Inland Seas #2)Rogue Wave by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rouge Wave by Gwyn McNamee is the second book in the Inland Seas Series
She has a way of grabbing you from the very beginning of the story and takes you on an amazing journey with her characters. I have yet to be disappointed with anything I have read by Ms. McNamee and I have been fortunate enough to read most of what she has written to date.

Cutter is the guy you see walking down the street towards you and you either find yourself crossing to the other side or doing everything possible to make sure he didn’t notice you. He is angry (justifiably so) and his anger is visible.

Valentina is awesome. She’s tough and not afraid of Cutter or calling him out on his bull. She is a great person to match up against him and they do go toe to toe a few times.

Great book two to the series and I can’t wait for the next one!

Book 3

☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
Let’s just say, Fire and Ice and some music. That’s what you will find in this story. Okay maybe some romance too. Make sure you read book 1 and 2 first.

Ari Moore is all grown up in this saga. He has taken his band to the top. He still is fascinated with fires and makes it part of his show. He is very talented and loved as well as hated. His new marketing consultant, Bella Wahlberg is a strong willed firecracker, that fears fire. Can these two opposite come together, and make this tour a hit? Can they grown together, and trust each other ?

Michele Sims has done it again, and written another page turner. She has also kept her story flowing. As it picks up where Book 2 left off. I love how she describes her characters as well as continues to grow the family as well. Such a fun exciting hot story. Nicely done Michele Sims! I’m looking forward to reading more from you!

In the small town of Golden Trail, PA, the Fallen Eagles MC isn’t just any group of veterans. They’re patrons of the community, the protectors of veterans and townsfolk alike, and a motley group of world military-trained men and women. And their small town and the Philadelphia area aren’t afraid to call on the varied skills of this rough and ready crew to help out on a case or two.

Summer brought us blackmail.
Winter will bring us murder.

With a Philly-based serial murderer on the loose, and the most recent victim a member of their small town, the Fallen Eagles MC will deal with one of the hardest cases they’ve ever encountered.

Davis “Eagle” Landon has given a lot for his country—an eye, a leg, time with his kids. He’s retired now and as the owner of several small businesses and the founder and President of the Fallen Eagles MC, this former Texan has his roots firmly planted. He’s ready to settle down again, and only one woman will do.

Winter is different. A bit of a loner. Quiet. Sarcastic. She’s also the owner of the one and only full-service salon in Golden Trail and has an amazingly supportive family and a close-knit group of friends who love her for the odd woman she’s molded herself into. She still feels like there’s something missing, though. As the youngest Markham, she’s seen the many struggles her older sisters have endured, and as much as the prospect scares her, she wants a love that is all her own. The problem? Nosy sisters, a murderer killing women who fit her description, and the guy she loves is a good twelve years older and way out of her league.

Eagle and Winter have a tough road ahead, but what these two are about to realize is that not even death can separate two souls who are written in the stars.
