Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow Novel Book 5) by India Kells – Review by Carrie Reed

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow, #5)Dark Bastard by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 stars!

I love that this series is not based solely on romance, but that there is action and drama. It sucks to see the brothers all still fighting their father, he is seriously deranged! My heart broke in the beginning to learn how Ellie and Sam were both feeling about life, but seriously awesome twist that Sam happens to call Ellie’s phone instead of his brothers and a bond forms between them. I liked watching Sam and Ellie dealing with and surviving in Jamison’s home and being basically held prisoner. The bond between the brothers, even though they haven’t known each other long is beautiful. Watching Ellie and Sam fight their inner demons and come together is sweet. At the end we get a glimpse of the next story which is involving Lazarus, fantastic name, and I have been most excited to read his story!

Forged by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Book 3) by Amy McKinley Book – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

Forged by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops, #3)Forged by Secrets by Amy McKinley

I just can’t get enough of this author!! In Forged by Secrets, Melina tries extremely hard to avoid and keep her walls up when encountering a Navy SEALs “frenemy”, Ty. However, she knows she is so drawn to him, so when she is accused of treason the first person she thinks she could trust to help her is Ty. This is a pretty quick read and from the start has action. Once again, Amy McKinley does an amazing job of blending romance and action together to create this great read. Make sure this makes your list if you love falling for characters in a book!

Beneath the Surface (A Gray Ghost Novel, Book 3) Audio Book By Amy McKinley – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

This was my first audio book and I am very much in love. My new favorite author, Amy McKinley, is not only great at romance, but also suspense. Beneath the Surface is what I would call a great romantic suspense read. As in her other books, her writing puts you right into the action of the story. The story involves a Russian girl, Hannah, who is orphaned that has to survive a “school” that trains her to be a sleeper agent. She is one of the best, due to her harder personality, but does not always let on to that. She’s been “sleeping” for 9 years, in the US, where she works for the US government. In her life, she meets a man, by the name of Jack; her feelings for him scares her away for awhile till he comes to her “rescue”. The ups and downs of where her allegiance to countries lie and love for Jack keeps any reader completely engaged and makes you not want to put the book down. Hannah is a badass character that you can’t help fall in love with.

Brink of Denial (Sons of Sindicato #1)Brink of Denial by Cam Johns
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was a super wild ride all the way to the very last pages which totally blew me away! In sons of sindicato we get the story of Seth and Shaw and we get snippets of Dane and Mila. Brink of denial explored everything that makes them Dane and Mila together and apart. They are wild, forceful, aggressive, but madly in love! They have been their entire lives and we get their story in book #2. After that ending it will be a rough wait until book #3 is released!

Bound by Secrets by Amy McKinley (Deadly Isles Special Ops #2) – Review by Jules Herbert

Bound by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops, #2)Bound by Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bound by Secrets is the second book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series by Amy McKinley and it is another fantastic book from this wonderful Author. I highly recommend reading this series in order as there are elements to the story line that need the grounding start of the first book.

This time we follow Jaxon Hale, an ex navy seal who is helping out with the police department after leaving the navy and Kayla Kane, a book reviewer and freelance writer on the run from an abusive ex-boyfriend. Jaxon and Kayla were once friends and lovers as teens but heartbreak came their way completely changing everything for them. They still care very deeply for each other but the big question is Can they work past their shared heartbreak and come together even better than before while danger builds around them?

Jaxon and Kayla are wonderful characters full of heart. I hope you enjoy their story as much as I did. I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing action packed, heartfelt series!

Seductive Prey (Relentless #1)Seductive Prey by Vivian Fiano
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read from this author and she blew my mind. I love a good romantic thriller but she exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book in the Relentless Trilogy. I was glued to my seat when I started to read this book. I could not put this book down until I was done. These characters drew me into their story right in the beginning. It only took me a few hours to devour this incredible book. I can’t wait to read what she writes next.

Jordan Smith goes into the Army as a National Guard to get some of her education paid for. She wants to own her own dance studio one day. Jordan meets a hot soldier she can’t seem to stop thinking about. She goes through her training and now she is home. One day Jordan goes to work and she sees some guys trying to take things from the studio. Jordan makes them leave but she still calls the cops and she is in complete shock when her hot soldier is the cop that comes to help her. Jordan and Grant start to date but then the threats start to come. She is getting stalked but who could it be? Will Jordan and Grant find out who is doing this or will it be too late?

Where Flowers Bloom by Nikki Vale- Review by Micalah Weatherholtz

Where Flowers BloomWhere Flowers Bloom by Nikki Vale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I honestly did not know what to expect from this book, I went into it not knowing what it would be about, even going back in the middle of reading to read the blurb still didn’t tell me what to really expect with the content of the book. Where flowers bloom is about so much more than a romance, well more than just one romance, and part of the story is set in a time where anything unconventional was not allowed. It’s so much more complex and full to the bursting with love but also a fair amount of pain, suffering, and hate. Kendyll has and continues to deal with so much in her life that I really felt for her. I did feel the ending was a bit rushed and slightly confusing but it didn’t detract from the story at all and your able to gather your own thoughts with the openness of the ending. This book had lots of twists, and turns to keep the reader interested, and so much mystery. I even laughed a time or two despite the serious, gut wrenching tone of the story. It’s descriptive to the point these places and people felt so real. It was a good, clean romance so nothing was to descriptive so it would appeal to most readers young and old. Where flowers bloom was my first book from Ms. Vale but it definitely won’t be my last.

“Love is, where flowers bloom.”

Night Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel Book 1) Audio Book by India Kells – Review by Caralee Loonat

Night Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel Book 1) Audio Book by India Kells
4 Stars!!!!

I have no listened to the audio book and I have to admit that it really does add to the book and experience.
The narrator does such a great job not only with different accents and voices but also with emotion and feeling
in the reading. I really find the choice of narrator a good choice. Sometimes it can be a toss whether or
not audio will add but in this case it definitely did. I really enjoyed this second reading of the book
and as in most cases found new things that I had overlooked when reading the normal book.

I have read another series by this author and I have to say that I was not let down with this new
series. I really like the author’s style and find her plot very original. I also like how the characters
just really come to life and just seem to jump off of the page.

I like how there is drama and intrigue along with romance. All the elements are very balanced and the
book really just flows. I was not able to put it down. I really like how Orla works with the vigilanty and
how their connection blooms. I like how there is a crime element to the romance and that both genres
really blend together to a great start to a series. I will read more from this author in the future and this
series.

Twisted SecretsTwisted Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5/5 Stars

Twisted Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops #1) by Amy McKinley

I’ve read several books by McKinley. This one is better than the last, but then again I say that about all her books. If you love romance with a hint of danger then this is your book.

Riley is a grad student who works at a coffee shop. She is dating her advisor, but things go south when she finds out a secret. She then finds herself attracted to Seal. The quote I chose for Riley is: “Since my stomach seems to be eating itself, that’s probably a good idea.”

Xander is injured and when he’s released he’s mad. He finds something out and is trying to piece together the last mission. His gut is telling him something wasn’t quite right. He meets Riley and things change drastically. The quote I chose for Xander is: “I’ve got it. If you can take my bag, we’re good to go.”

Highly recommended for Romantic Suspense lovers.

Secure Boxed Set: Chase Security Series Books 1-3 by R.L. Dunn – Review by Amanda Kimble

Secure Boxed Set (Chase Security #1-3)Secure Boxed Set by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5/5 Stars

Secure Boxed Set: Chase Security Series Books 1-3 by R.L. Dunn

Secure Desire (Chase Security Series #1)

Dunn has a way with bringing characters to life. This was a fantastic read and can’t wait for book 2. This is the first book in the Chase Security Series and my first read by the author.

Cassiopeia Ellis, Cassie, has lost her entire family and now people are coming after her. Something happened to her six years ago and she remembers bits and pieces. The quote I choose for Cassie is: “I promise you’re not. Life is too short, and there are tons of things to be afraid of. One thing I am very sure about is I’m not afraid of you.”

Ian Chase runs a high-end business. He met Cassie six years ago, but when he runs into her again he knows he has to have her. He wants to know everything about her, but things are tough in the beginning. The quote I choose for Ian is: “Some other tidbits? I know you prefer tea over coffee. Your favorite snack is gelato. I know you have a passion for high heels. Your favorite scent is honeysuckle. I know you love art—even pig art. You crinkle your nose when you’re thinking. Christian calls you ‘bunny’ because you used to have big ponytails that looked like bunny ears. You are a capable, brave woman, the strongest woman I ever met. I know I want to spend my life getting to learn everything about you and making you happy. When you are well enough, I want to take you to my bed and love you like you deserve to be loved.”

Secure Again (Chase Security Series #2)

The second book I’ve read and definitely not the last. This is the second book in the Chase Security Series, but it can be read as a stand alone. Dunn has a way of bringing you into the book.

Martin is the leading male in this book, but Ian makes an appearance. Going back to his hometown changes everything for him. Not expecting to rekindle the romance from his past. The quote I chose for Martin is: “Thank you, everyone. Those words are too few for all you are doing. I have some news for all of you. Today I made a life decision: I’ve adopted the infant injured in the trailer park fire. Lola Wyatt will be Lola Bailey by morning. In advance, I thank all her new aunts and uncles for being a part of her life. Second happy news: I plan to ask Elizabeth Reed to marry me the second she wakes up.”

Elizabeth, Beth, is a doctor who finds that guards are abusing the prisoners. When a cop is shot and she tends to him; she finds that it’s the younger brother of Martin. Not sure how things are going to go she faces the Bailey family. The quote I chose for Beth is: “That is a bleed. Eric, Patrick, recheck the CT. What vessel does it look like to you? There are multiple layers of collateral circulation from previous injuries. He follows his own book.”

Secure Heart (Chase Security Series #3)

Another great read by Dunn! This is part of the Chase Security Series, but can be read as a stand alone. Dunn has a skill of making you fall in love.

Julian is missing his wife and takes to the bottle. His family doesn’t know and his friends help him out. When he’s moved closer to family he finds himself falling. The quote I chose for Julian is: “I’m the hard a**, Julian Dupart. You two were hired to replace one person: Mia Donnelly. According to your resumes, each of you hold all the specific requirements to meet the conditions of this job on your own. You received huge salary bumps and countless perks. I walked down to your office with the intentions of getting to know you and discussing the issues concerning the branch. Instead, two blivets greeted me with attitude and boredom, wasting time playing games. Both of you are on notice. Go home now, and tomorrow, return with a new attitude and work ethic if you want to continue being employed by this organization. OUT!”

Holly is a single mom who isn’t happy. She finds that her kid is sick and wants to help. Things get tough and she isn’t sure who to turn to. The quote I chose for Holly is: “Well, Momma , I guess it’s my time to take over your business.”

Highly recommended for Romantic Suspense lovers.

Wow another series off to a great start. I have read many of this author’s MC series and this is yet again another great start to introducing us to yet another chapter. The characters just jump off of the page and are very realistic. I like how the author is able to bring in just enough drama and intrigue and mix in romance.

I like how Lost and Patsy are in a way each other’s saviour. It really is a lovely romance even though it is wrought at the beginning with danger. I like how the Satan’s Devils are able to keep everyone safe. I like though how this series ties into the other, and how there is a nice little cliffe hanger at the end. I am so intrigued to find out how this little intrigue will tie into the series and how things will begin to unfold. I cannot wait to read more from this author and this series.

This author has truly captured my attention and I just can’t help but keep coming back for more and it’s delivered amazingly each time. The characters pulled me in and took me on quite the ride. Each character is described in a lot of details and you can picture things as they happen and I love a book that comes to life before my eyes. Each character brings something unique to the storyline and you can’t help but feel a connection. It’s a well written story and it’s paced nicely even with a lot going on, never felt lost or confused. I’m giving this story a five star review and highly recommend it!

Amy's Santa (Satan's Devils MC Second Generation #1)Amy’s Santa by Manda Mellett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Amy’s Santa is the first book I’ve read by this author and I enjoyed the book. I wasn’t sure exactly what was going to happen after reading about when Amy has no choice but to leave the compound and flee to Phoenix.
Amy and Drew were always attached at the hip growing up. Unfortunately, there were to many years between them so they were unable to bring their relationship past friendship. As the years went on the feelings were there for both of them but that didn’t matter.
When Amy walks in to catch Drew in a compromising position, she knows she need to get away…far away! She decided to go away to school and become a nurse. Now she is coming home for the holidays and brings one of her good friends home with her. Amy doesn’t know where should would be today if it weren’t for Xander. He saved her….rescued her when she needed him to. She knows by going home to spend time with her dad and the rest of the MC family is going to be hard. She is a shell of the person they know her to be. She’s carrying a secret and she is afraid if anyone finds out her secret they will blame her.
Xander is cornered by Amy’s dad Heart ( Amy’s Dad ) and has no choice but to come clean and tell him what the problem with Amy is all about.
Will Amy’s dad understand what happened and stand behind his little girl?
What will happen when Drew and Amy see each other. Will seeing Amy light a fire under him? Will Drew finally settle down or with the club president remain single?
I thought this was a good book. I’m not a fan of MC books because I can’t deal with trying to remember who is who but this book wasn’t so hard.

I found that I as glued to the pages as I couldn’t wait to find out how the book was going to unfold. There is just the right bit of intrigue and drama to balance out the romance.

I really like how Neve and Enya’s story unfolded. There really wasn’t any predictable bit to this book and that is what really makes it great. I like how the author builds up the world around the characters. I really look forward to reading more from this series and author as I cannot wait to see how the actual adult theme park turns out.
