Emily Bybee delivers a gripping thriller that I really enjoyed.
Harper is an artist and computer science major just trying to live a normal life when she finds out that her brother Will, who is serving in the Delta Force, disappears. His last email to her is very suspicious, and before she knows it she is thrown into a world of government conspiracies, mercenaries and deep, dangerous secrets. Her only friend in digging down to the truth is her brother’s friend, Caleb.
The stakes are high and her odds to figure it out are low, but Harper is determined to get to the truth.
I would absolutely reccecomend this book to others. I picked it up at random due to its back jacket ; I can definitely say I was not disappointed. Bybee keeps her readers drawn in wanting to know what’s on the next page. I had a hard time putting it down. I enjoyed the storyline and thought the main characters were well written. I can’t wait to see what Byee comes up with next.

This novel is an intense adventure that uncovers a conspiracy with far-reaching fingers and deadly consequences. The trail leads from a greedy corporation right into the heart of Washington. I enjoyed the female lead character being a hacker and would have liked to see more of that. The art stuff was cool because I knew what the author was talking about. I liked the layers to the story.
This book was meant for me. I love conspiracy theories. She last heard from her brother via email and now he is missing. Harper decides to investigate. With Caleb’s her brother best friend and his coworker. He helps to find answers. Not letting their attraction to one another intervene in their mission to protect the world. Odds seem against them especially with mercenaries set to murder them.
This novel was everything I wanted; military, friends to lovers, and suspenseful. This was also very family oriented and I love a good book that is geared toward family. The main characters, Caleb and Harper, are both spunky and determined. Their personalities glow as they search for Will, Harper’s brother and Caleb’s best friend.
The only downside of this novel was I felt like there could have been more action. The plot was good, but it could have used a touch of surprise here and there. That is the only reason for 4 stars for me rather than 5. Otherwise it is a very quick read that will have you going “one more page” for hours on end.

I was drawn into The Taste of Treachery just from the cover art and title. I haven’t read anything by this author before, and didn’t really even read what the story was about. It was soooo good I didn’t want to put it down. I like that the character development was gradual and realistic. Both main characters Caleb and Harper were likeable. Harper has a history of anxiety and panic attacks, but is able to put them aside and be a baddy hero when needed. The ending tho, come on?! I was not happy with it at all- It didn’t provide the closure I needed.

Read this fast paced thriller to find out!
Harper is just trying to live her life , keep her nose clean and finish her studies as a computer science major and she’s a rather talented artist , talk about an all rounder ! Did I mention she’s a hacker 🤷♀️🥹
Her brother is serving the country , he’s a Drlta Force member and then he disappears 🤯but he sent her a mail and that’s where the plot thickens and keys just say not all conspiracy theories are theories , where there’s smoke there’s fire that’s for sure !
Caleb , hey brothers friend and fellow brother in atms is home recovering from s spinal injury and she turns to Caleb help find her brother and bring him home and I just want to add he’s more than easy on the eye 🥰🤣🙈
What really irked me is that most laughed her off because of her mental health history and while I hear their concerns I really felt their prejudice thank goodness for Caleb 🙏 also the things people will do for money and innocent lives have to pay the price makes my blood boil so this read isn’t so fictional because these things really do happen we just don’t hear of it, makes one think 🤔
I know they’re in for the fight if their lives but their hearts are also at stake and there was a good balance to keep me on my toes and my heart beating fast 🥰😉
Loved every minute of this read , be ready for a few twists though 🤔🥰

This gripping romantic suspense thriller kept me hooked throughout. Hacker and computer science major Harper finds herself in the middle of a government conspiracy. When her brother who is serving overseas in Delta Force disappears, she finds that as a college student with a history of mental health no one will listen to her. Her only hope is her brother’s best friend and fellow Delta Force operator Caleb. Together they enter a world of secrets, mercenaries and guns. Having discovered that a chemical company is willing to poison the world for profit they find their lives in danger. Meanwhile they try to ignore their growing attraction and the chemistry between them. This fast paced story has plenty of plot twists which kept me guessing. The chemistry between Harper and Caleb really came across in the narrative. I found myself immersed in the storyline and invested in the outcome of the characters. An enjoyable and engaging read.

What an incredible wide ride of a story this was, I couldn’t put it down and was consuming this book just as fast as I could breathe. This book gave just the right number of twists and turns that kept my attention and wanting more. This book plugged into a world of conspiracy theories, manipulation, thriller high-stakes, deception and mystery. Harper a strong-willed woman, filled with determination, starts to unravel the story behind what has happened to her brother. But will the government be able to keep their secrets to themselves or will it all come crashing down? This book was so intriguing and the twists in it really kept the mystery till the end. This was a gripping story, if you pick it up be prepared not to do anything but find out if Harper can solve this and get out of the situation.

This was a good read. I like these kinds of reads. A bit of thriller/a bitg of mystery. I really found that I couldn’t put it down. The characters were very well-developed. The story was very good. Well written with a good flow. Just the right amount of twists and turns and they tied right back in. This is a really good story for mystery/thriller lovers.

Harper is a brilliant hacker who is trying to walk the straight and narrow as a computer science major and artist. She never saw herself as an environmental activist or conspiracy theory nut. But when her brother who is serving overseas in Delta Force disappears, the last email from him pulls her into a world of secrets, mercenaries, and guns. Guns aimed at her. No one wants to listen to the ravings of a college student, much less one with a mental health history of severe anxiety. Caleb, her older brother’s best friend and fellow Delta Force operator, home recovering from spinal surgery, is her only ally. Together they work to unravel the truth behind a government conspiracy and a chemical company willing to poison the world for profit. She must put aside the growing passion between her and Caleb to stop the evil plot before the mercenaries sent to kill them complete their mission.
Emily grew up loving to escape to the fantasy world in books. At the age of twelve, she began writing after having a series of extremely vivid dreams that begged to be made into a story. In high school and college Emily focused on science and graduated with a degree in environmental biology. After college she began writing again, but quickly realized she’d failed to take a single writing or grammar class. Luckily, she’s a quick learner. Emily now enjoys making up stories in genres from urban fantasy to romance to suspense and loves when she can add in a dash of science, just for fun.

Marcus and Barrington Laurier are two cousins from an extremely rich family, a family to whom appearances and reputation are king and anyone who they deem lower than them isn’t worth their time. Storm Canales is a childhood friend of the two cousins, coming from a different background, she is not rich, but her family have worked hard for what they have and from an early age, the three musketeers have had a deep connection and friendship until one night when everything changed.
At a black-tie event, Marcus and Barrington are decked out in their finest apparel and Storm is wearing a beautiful burgundy dress which every woman is jealous of, and every man wants, the same could be said for the two extremely handsome cousins who also turn every eye, especially when they decide to get some air in a secluded part of the balcony. When there, a decidedly heated interaction is on the verge of being both accepted and desired when an ill-timed interruption from another of the Laurier clan shows Storm exactly how she is seen by her best friend’s family, less than nothing and a gold digger to boot.
When Storm realises that her soon to be loves cannot stand up for her, she remains true to her name and leaves in a storm of disappointment and shame and without looking back, she heads out to a new start with the DEA and all that the position there can offer her. Marcus and Barrington are shocked and appalled by their family and do their best to make amends, even if Storm won’t accept them or communicate with them, they try to carry on with their lives.
Unfortunately for Storm, she becomes mixed up with a Colombian drug cartel and has to keep herself alive throughout an ordeal she wouldn’t wish on her worst enemy, until she is brought home a changed woman. Meanwhile, the cousins are worried about Storm, so when they hear she is home, they are determined to right the wrongs of the past and regain Storm’s love and trust, however, just as they are making progress, the past returns and Storm is thrust back into danger, but this time, she has two very capable men to help her, but will that be enough?
This is a spicy romance with dark undertones where three people come together to hope, love and heal from the past so that they can try and have a future, however, where there is light, darkness follows, and this darkness could rip this tenuous bond apart at the seams when dangerous intentions mix with heartwarming scenes in this gripping read.

An enjoyable and entertaining romantic suspense which kept me hooked throughout. Set in wild Wyoming, the author does a great job of bringing the setting vividly to life through the descriptive narrative. It’s here that confirmed bachelor, cowboy Hayden Goddard runs his family’s ranch, and where he is shot and left for dead. He wakes up to find that his life has been saved by Ruby Drake, who is on the run from her past and has moved to the countryside for a fresh start. When Ruby’s past catches up with her Hayden is determined to protect the women who saved his life, and who he’s falling in love with. I loved how the relationship between Ruby and Hayden developed and their spicy chemistry sizzled off the page. This was a cowboy romance with plenty of drama and action, as well as suspense and the storyline had me gripped.

Born to Die is the second book in the McIntire County book series and another great romantic suspense/mystery from Winter Austin. This book is its own case/story but we do meet Cassy and Boyce in Book one, Atonement, which is the story of Cassy’s sister, Nicolette, and Con. We hear a continuance from book one of their life over the past two years but we get plenty of suspense, twists, and turns concerning Boyce and Cassy. Cassy and Boyce have a history and a bitter one at that because she got hurt and he ran away when she needed him the most claiming his job would get in the way and ruin a case they were building on his mother. So struggling with her own mental health and PTSD she is shocked to find him re-entering her life to aid a murder/bank robbery case in McIntire County. Can she find it in her head to solve this case, and in her heart to trust him again? Winter has written another winning novel in my book.

My sunshine. The bringer of light in my dark, dark world. Holy broody, dark, possessive, strong man, Batman. The Golden Garza gets all five stars from me. I truly enjoyed reading Tripp and Sunny’s story, his dark monster, and her warm sunshine. This can be read as a stand-alone as each story is an individual one but there are elements in each book that connect them and would make more sense if they were read in order. Each of these books thankfully has a happy, satisfying ending, and no cliffhangers! You will need to schedule a big chunk of time once you have started this book. I started The Golden Garza and lost and entire day because I just could not stop reading or pull myself away from it. Honestly, this is a wonderful, spicy book/series with a great storyline that will pull you in and not let go. Do yourself a favor and give this book and this series a chance!

“Didn’t you know?” “Love is madness.” Once you start to read True Garza and get into Trueman and Londons story you will be immersed and unable to come up for air until you have devoured every last page. I can attest to feeling that way throughout the 24 hours it took me to read this, I just couldn’t stop! I appreciated the real life struggles that True suffered with because as someone who has also been given a diagnosis of ADHD it can be as debilitating and difficult to control as he describes in this book. It takes so much work all the time, being cognizant of what is expected of you, and to ‘try’ to be normal and not speak as Guy in this book states like “tripping over a bunch of wires.” I liked that this book was spicy but that wasn’t the sole focus, there was plenty to follow and love in the interesting storyline as well. This was a fabulous 5 star read and I loved it and the entire Red Cage series so far!

I have read many books by this author as she is one of my top ten and this book was once again a great read. I love how she is able to bring the characters to life. I find that the characters begin to grow and evolve throughout the story and that adds to the feeling as though I am right there in the heart of the action. I also love how she is able to balance out the drama and romance making such a well rounded book. I find that the characters have a real electric chemistry and I really look forward to reading more from this author and this series. I really do highly recommend this author.

As their relationship develops so does the danger to Katerina and Chase wants nothing more than to keep her safe! What a wonderful start to this series! This very talented author never ever disappoints with her creative and captivating storylines, amazing characters and steamy love scenes. From the very first page I was hooked on Katerina and Chase and what was to unfold for them. I am looking forward to reading more about them as soon as I can!

This is the first book I have read from this author and she now has a new fan. I love a good slow burn romance but this story exceeded all my expectations. These characters drew me into their story right from the beginning. I loved how you got to read both of their points of views. I could not put this book down until the end. It only took me a few hours to devour this amazing story.
Kylee Parker is a really good police officer in Philadelphia. She loves her job putting the bad guys away. Kylee goes to a call and finds herself arresting her high school crush, Jayson Donovan. She knows he is one of the bad guys but she can’t help the feelings she has for him. Kylee and Jayson get to know each other again and they find out they do care for one another. They better be careful because when you know a bad guy there are more to follow. Will Kylee and Jayson find love or will the past destroy it? Review @heatherbass

Ritual Obsession (Blood Obsession #1) by R.L. Dunn
This is another fantastic read by the author. This is the first book in a new series. Ritual Obsession is a fantastic read and I can’t wait for more. This is the first book in the Blood Obsession Series.
Bobbi is new to the team and has to make an impression on her partner. She impresses her so now she should be good. Right? Well not really. Now there’s someone out there killing girls that look like her. The quote I chose for Bobbi is: “I also bet there are a lot of things I have to learn. I’m looking forward to new experiences.”
Max is a police vet and has been with the station for 15 years. He notices Bobbi on her first day and can’t seem to get her off his mind. The problem is there is now someone killing girls. What makes matters worse is she doesn’t listen to him. The quote I chose for Max is: “Bobbi, I’m sorry. Look, about three years ago, I ended a serious relationship. We were engaged. Carole was very special to me. Friday night when I got home from the bar with Dave, there was a message from her on my machine. She’s back in town. Carole called me early yesterday and asked me to come over for lunch. I went to her apartment for lunch, and a lot of old emotions came to the surface. I thought she was the only person in the whole world for me. Our relationship ended badly. There were a lot of accusations and unkind words, and we never really ended it. We’d both made mistakes. When I saw her again, I realized she was my past. I went and sat on the beach to contemplate my future.”
Undeniable is a BDSM themed romance between Arley and Kurt (some spoilers). Arley and Kurt grew up as neighbors, but he is five years older and her brother’s best friend, while growing up. After the death of her father, Arley’s brother started to change, becoming more secretive and abusive; Kurt was always there though to soften the blow. They decided after her brother beat her up for the last time, it was time for them to move back to their motherland, Puerto Rico. Next thing you know, fifteen years have gone by and everyone is living their own lives. However, while Arley is living in Tennessee, as a teacher, she is attacked and kidnapped to join a sex traffick ring. Luckily, she is rescued, but has to hide out, which she does in Florida with a childhood friend. Little did she know Kurt, the boy she loved but could never have, was back living in Florida. After all her trauma, she wanted to get back to some resemblance of normal and get a job as a bartender at a BDSM club. Kurt happens to be a part owner of this club and their journey begins. He continues to be her protector as a group of men are trying to find and claim her, but during this protection their attraction grows and he brings her little by little into his world. While I enjoyed this book I was surprised that there was more plot than BDSM. I really did fall in love with these characters. Arley is a strong, intelligent, curious, submissive woman (and I say that in a positive way). She mentally gets through all the crazy that happens by leaning on others and being open to different possibilities. Kurt, made a great dom in this scenario. He is a retired Marine who is a true protector. He is open with his feelings, doesn’t deal with the bullshit, is patient, and shows his caring side often. Even though, as you read, you can tell and hear the dominance in his “voice”, he knows the boundaries that people are capable of. He made Arley feel safe, loved, protected, and sexy as hell. Their relationship was truly enjoyable to watch as it deepened.

“There are some who can live without wild things, and there are those who cannot.” -Aldo Leopold
This book, Devils Breath, really surprised me with how much I really enjoyed it. I think we have all come to expect the same storylines from romance novels no matter what genre they fall into. This was a romantic suspense, femme fatale type romance. Devils Breath was fresh and new for me and I was pulled into the book immediately. Cover to cover Cassius, Sera, and Raine kept me on the edge of my seat. It was a wild thrill ride from start to finish and the ending was great. I really like the main characters from the start. Sera’s journey within herself, from caged, monstrous, ice queen, with ultimate control, made by her father, to the warm, welcoming, emotional woman she really was just looking for someone to show her what love really means was pretty powerful after everything she’d had to endure her entire life. Cassius with his stoicism, and endless patience but ruthlessness when needed made him very endearing to me as a reader. No one in real life is perfect, everyone is fighting some type of battle we know nothing about. The author made the characters so real and human I felt like they could jump off the page. There were even a few times in the book that made me laugh and giggle while reading it. The author’s ability to stitch all of that together was flawless and everything came together very well. 5 thumbs up for Devils Breath. I would definitely recommend giving it a try especially if your tired of that same old romance troupe.

Devil’s Breath is a suspense romance about an assassin named Sera and her mark, Cassius. Sera grew up poor with an abusive father after her mother died from drugs. Sera’s biggest weakness is satisfying her father, no matter what. Her father and a couple of associates want to invest in a “gems” company. This “gems” company is actually a way to sell drugs under the radar due to Sera’s brilliant chemistry mind. However, while she is a millionaire, they need a backer, that is where Cassius comes in. Cassius is one of the associate’s brothers, who hates him and wants revenge on the family he was disowned from. What they all didn’t count on was Cassius’ crazy smart brain and the fact that Sera’s tough exterior could have a flaw. Will Cassius figure out the plan before he loses his life? Will Sera’s tough exterior faulter for anyone besides her father? A game of cat and mouse is a good one! I enjoyed this book a lot. It always helps when you have a badass female lead who is an assassin with daddy issues. You get to see her transformation throughout the book and give you hope that people might be able to do and be better. However, her daddy issues did make me want to slap her at times. The two characters together had great banter, which I thrive off of. However, Cassius, oh my, he was my favorite character in the book. He was adventurous, charming, down to earth, and understanding. How he treated the people around him, especially Sera, just made you melt! He was a broken but honest, lovable, really good man that you just couldn’t help falling in love with.

I really enjoyed this book! This is only the third mafia book I have read and I was not a fan until I read this author. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. It has a happy ending, which I prefer. There was also a nice little twist at the end that I was not expecting at all. I would totally recommend this book.
