From the very first page, the author has you engaged in the story and you need to know what’s happening next. I like how each chapter has the point of view for the main characters, Finlay and Drake. The author has done a great job in creating the context for this particular topic, especially the ins and outs of this type of business. As you read, you get an actual feel for the environment, and the emotions the women and young ladies are feeling.

Okay, I devoured this book in a day. And I am normally a slow reader. I was hooked the entire time. Love all of the suspense and twists in the story as well as the romance. No spice, good banter between the characters, forced proximity trope.
Evie gets mistaken for another woman who a gang is after, but a British P.I saves her from a couple of the goons that try to grab her at the airport. They have to go through a lot to get the targets off their backs so Evie can go home. But they end up slowly falling for each other and saving each other many times, and Evie ends up not wanting to go home, and becomes very involved in the case. It was a great read and I can’t wait to read more from this author

This was a fast-paced suspense book. Right off the bat, I was sucked right in. The two girls bounced off each other and there our mystery starts. There’s lots of action, intrigue, mystery and a little bit of romance. I loved how spunky and feisty she is. This is a really great novel for a debut. She’s new to me and I can’t wait to read book 2. Fantastic writing that keeps you engaged the whole way through. The characters felt totally relatable. Father and son interactions, who hasn’t been there. I’ll be eagerly awaiting.

Shadowed Deception: A Psychological Suspense Thriller (Shadow Defense Security Series) by Mavery Ellscott. I love this series and I loved this book. Its the continuing story of Finlay, a investigative journalist, who is deep undercover working at a bar trying to get information on the trafficking going on. She is in Paris on assignment and Drake from Shadow Defense Security is there to check on her because he feels she may be in over her head. Drake is a former Navy Seal and now is a partner of Shadow Defense Security. Drake dislikes journalists a lot but Finlay is becoming a good pain. It doesn’t help with his growing attraction to her and the last thing he wants is a relationship especially with a journalist. Finlay promised a friend she met in Mexico that she would help her find her sister who had been kidnapped. Will Finlay be able to help her friend without getting herself in trouble. Read this fast paced thriller to find out!

This book was a really fun exhilarating read for me. I did not have a chance to read books one and two, however, this book did not cause me to read the other books to understand the storyline. Learning about Finlay and her role in this story as an investigator, while she worked with law enforcement was eye opening. The setting in Paris of human trafficking felt so real as the author depicts each scene, filling me with suspense for the next moment. One of the best things about a mystery is the amount of suspense in each moment or scene. This book had me on the edge of my toes and quickly sparked a vivid imagination for every scene in this Shadowed Deception: A Psychological Suspense Thriller (Shadow Defense Security Series) by Mavery Ellscott – Review by book. Shadowed Deception: A Psychological Suspense Thriller (Shadow Defense Security Book 3)

I went on quite the adventure while reading this book. So much happens with Finley and Drake.

Finley is a bad girl but in the best way. She will do what ever is necessary to help those that she cares about which is how she ended up in Paris and the mess she found herself in.

Drake is sent to get Finley home safe and sound, he has no clue how messed up of a situation she is in the middle of.

The twist at the end was so good it made me gasp out loud and may have startled my husband.

I really hope Seb is next and I know the perfect woman for him.

Shadowed Deception: A Psychological Suspense Thriller (Shadow Defense Security Book 3)Shadowed Deception: A Psychological Suspense Thriller by Mavery Ellscott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well Shadowed Deception is definitely an adventure. But not the fun type of adventure. The author brings us another challenge. Yet a budding attraction between two characters.
Finley is on assignment. Deep undercover at a nightclub trying to get as much information as possible. She knows about the trafficking but doesn’t know the details on where/how the women come in or are sold. She’s determined to find her friend’s sister as well as bring the ring down completely. Unfortunately it’s making her feel guilty for the innocents that will lose their jobs.
Drake dislikes journalists. Yet he’s in Paris chasing after the one journalist in his life that’s chasing a story. Finley is a piece of work, but she’s in so deep he has no choice but to get help from his team. as they gather information it’s becoming more apparent that Finley needs to stop because she’s going to end up in serious trouble. It also doesn’t help his growing feelings for her.
What will they do?
Do they succeed?
What connection does Finley’s father have to all this?
The author keeps the reader on a crazy ride. Keeps you turning the page. Keeps you asking questions that you hope don’t take too long to answer. With the dark sub plots just be mindful of what you’re getting yourself into. It’s really good book so it’s definitely worth it!

Shadowed Deception: A Psychological Suspense Thriller (Shadow Defense Security Book 3)Shadowed Deception: A Psychological Suspense Thriller by Mavery Ellscott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shadowed Deception is the 3rd book in the Shadow Defense Security series, but the first I read. It was enjoyed without background knowledge but I could sense Drake and Finlay had a bit of a past that played into their behavior and attitude toward each other. The author did a good job providing enough information so I wasn’t frustrated or felt like I was missing anything.
The book has a good balance, being mostly mystery and investigative work, and a handful of romance scenes. I felt like there was quite a bit of a hanging to the ending. While it wrapped up the feelings between Drake and Finlay, the whole case they are investigating is still open and wasn’t all resolved. I hope it continues in another book, because if this is how the author planned to end things, I’m not thrilled.

I have read a few books from this author and she always keeps me on my toes. This is the sixth book of the amazing Critical Care series. I could be read as a stand alone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was so excited to get this book so I started it right away. I could not help but to fall for these characters. I didn’t put this book down until the end. I can’t wait to see what she will write about next.

Tim Holland is part of the amazing Chase Care team. He was in the Navy but now he is the faculty director. Tim loves his job so much he never thought about love. He is teamed up with a beautiful traveling nurse on his new assignment. Tim has feelings for Willow that he has never got before. His main goal is to find out who is tampering with chemotherapy drugs and not getting involved with another woman. Will Tim and Willow make a great team or will they be too different to work together?

By grabbing the wrong suitcase, she is mistaken by a Private Investigator as the person he is looking for. However, when the bad guys come after Evelyn, Patrick is the one to step in and protect her. Mistaken Identity is the first book in the London Detective Agency series by Stephanie R. Caffrey and what a great start to a series. When grad student Evelyn accidentally swaps bags with a stranger in an airport, she doesn’t expect her life to be in danger. Patrick is a private investigator who is on route to meet the stranger and mistakes Evelyn for her as she has the wrong bag. When the bad guys try to take Evelyn, Patrick steps in and saves the day. Although, the two certainly do not get on. As the story progresses the two get closer but danger is always round the corner. I really liked this book, it had good character development and a fast paced exciting story. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Shadowed Deception is the third book in the Shadow Defense Security Series. In this story, Finlay Giammarino is an investigative journalist tracking a human trafficking ring hoping to find a lead on her sister. When she comes to a dead end she turns to former Navy Seal Drake Reeves. Drake doesn’t like journalists but Finlay is desperate. By now the trademark adventure and intensity should be expected. Again, the chemistry is fun and palpable. This is a stand-alone book but you do get past characters that pop up and they are fun to see. Another page-turner.

Fade Into the Night (Philly Heat series, #5)Fade Into the Night by Becky Flade
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This series is like fine wine it ages we’ll with each addition 📚❣️😉

When you’re about to bring up your breakfast while reading you know you’re in for a treat ! I know it sounds a little twisted but when you’ve a visual mind and the writing is brilliant it’s inevitable!

Before I go any further I just must say how much I enjoy this descriptive writing style I can almost smell and taste the delicious coffee shop , I can see the elderly couple in the restaurant, I’ve formed a very vivid picture of the characters by
Becky’s descriptions of them … love it when I live a book like this , I get totally lost !

Noah is on the hunt for “Romeo” a killer that leaves rose petals and beautiful music but a grotesque scene behind and right now he’s in Philly but he’s changed his MO and something feels different …..

Sadie our undercover Land Rover driver zoots around on her line green Vespa looking more like a college youngster than the professional forensic artist that she is has crossed paths with Noah , it was a painful time in her life but she found comfort in Noah …..

Noah and Sadie are very comfortable around each other and Sadie is very perceptive of Noah’s character and I think that’s why they work well together

I’m not going to lie I had moments where I thought I’d loose my stomach content , my heart rate went sky high and I held in to the edge of my seat this was a brilliant read !
There’s was enough suspense and tension to keep me on my toes and not get totally lost in Sadie and Noah ( I can’t help it they’re amazing ) this was one of those reads that I wanted to shout about from street corner but held onto to that thought because orange isn’t my colour 🤣🙈

This book is the sixth in the series. Technically, it works as a stand alone book, however it would be more enjoyable within the series. If you’re a fan of Robin Cook, then this book is for you! The author has a similar style in this medical drama. We follow Tim Holland as he falls in love with Willow Colson and through a surprise medical diagnosis. The bad guys here are big pharma which is sadly believable. A downside was there were many characters to follow which would have been better if I read the other books, and there are explicit scenes. I enjoyed the story and finding out all the hidden secrets. Overall, a fun read!
