RELEASE (REWIND Series) by Rowan Shaw is a great romance series.
The entire setting of the romance book REWIND is France. This is a stand-alone narrative without a cliffhanger, even if it is a part of a series. This compilation of interconnected short stories features all of the REWIND series’ characters in a novel-like format.
Every page had you hanging on every sentence and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a very unique story with even compelling people. I loved seeing all my favorite character. The story really transports you into this world. I couldn’t put the book down.
I want to start off by saying this book wasn’t quite my cup of tea. It had too much descriptive romance for me. But on another note. It was very well written and it did have a great story line that weaved together well. I think if I would have read the other books first it might have made a little more sense quicker. The characters are very relatable and despite what they’ve been through they are making the best of it the best way they know how. If you love a lot of descriptive romance, relatable characters, a little suspense and action thrown in to the mix with an HEA then this is the book for you.

One of the characters uses they/them pronouns which threw me off a little as I am not used to reading it even though I hear it used daily. I found myself drawn into this world created by the author and finished the book in one sitting. I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series, but I am very interested in reading about the other character. There are a few things talked about that could be a trigger warning so read at your own risk.

View all my reviews

Originally when I decided to read this book, I thought I could read it as a stand alone but it is a much better idea to the series from the beginning to get better context and get to know characters. This book is built into short stories that are emotionally engaging and woven into a common thread amongst the characters. Warnings for triggers are given prior to warning readers of themes. Stories focus on different interwoven themes within queer romance and its ups and downs and obstacles they overcome. Through it all, readers can find some sense of hope and love. It is a beautiful reminder that in all challenges, we are able to overcome and become stronger in the end.

I’m just discovering this author in the last book series, Which means I totally have to totally go back to the start and read the rest, especially after seeing that this is basically like giving us a final glimpse of what happens with the other characters . so i was only a little lost but this book was nonetheless outstanding and i’m sad there’s no more after this but also happy because i get to start from the beginning how many people wish they can start their favorite book over like it was their first time 😂. This author’s writing is complex, and skillfully blends heartfelt romance with the complexities of personal growth and emotional healing. Also contributing to a narrative that feels both inclusive and relatable. And its ability to create a deeply emotional and authentic story makes it a noteworthy addition to LGBTQ+ literature.
This is the fifth book in the Rewind series. This is a unique read as it is short stories following on with the characters from each of the previous 4 book and how their lives have progressed. Did they all end up with their happy ever afters? It can be read on its own however I feel you would get more enjoyment from reading the previous books so you understand the struggles that each couple faced in the previous books. These stories are about finding love and relationships which some people may be against. Such as a poly, MM relationship and Bisexuality. These stories show how hard it is for people in these types of relationships and the discrimination and prejudice they can feel at times. One thing that comes across from every couple though is the love they feel for each other. You can’t help who you fall in love with and these stories prove that, and shows just how hard some people have to fight to be with who they love. All of the stories have angst, challenges and struggles as well as steamy romance through. There are also some trigger warnings in these stories so I would recommend checking them out before starting this book. These stories are brilliantly written and what underpins each one is love and acceptance which makes each story beautiful in its own right.
Having read the previous books in the series, I can say that this book is like one big epilogue. Technically, you could read it, and it would make a fairly complete story, but you wouldn’t feel as much of a connection to the characters. I highly recommend reading the others first.
This book gave me a bunch of conflicting feelings. There’s an author’s note at the beginning and it gives context for the stories contained within. Where the other books in the series give you more of the HEA vibes at the end, this book… it kind of ends bittersweet in some ways.
I won’t get into the details of what happens so as not to ruin it for other readers, but I will say, Mallory is not my favorite person. How could she???? And I know reality isn’t a fairytale ending, but dang. That part just made me sad for Eleanor. Point being, you have to be in the right headspace to absorb this book, because it edges on more real-to-life happenings.
That being said, the writing and stories are expertly executed. I think that’s why it’s so emotional. The point of art is to make you feel, and this book certain delivers.
RELEASE (REWIND Series) by Rowan Shaw . This is the end of this series with a set of stories that gives us a update on all the characters from the previous books in the series. I do recommend reading the others previously to get a better understanding of the characters. There is also a warning about the subject of suicide in this story. Its set 4 years in the future from the other books so its a sort of catch up on everyone. Adrien was the most heart wrenching of all. He has grown and I was thankful he had a great support system with Raphael and his sister Celeste. There are some truly heart wrenching scenes in this book and I would recommend reading the trigger warnings before reading. Its a very emotional read and I wasn’t sure going in I was going to be happy with this being the ending but I really enjoyed it and loved getting to see how everyone was doing!
This is the first book I have read by this author. I haven’t read the other books in this series. As I was reading, I did feel a little lost at times. I suggest reading the previous books before this one. However, the writing was really good. It had me intrigued throughout. After I finished reading, I found myself wanting to read the others in the series!
I loved being able to catch up with all of the characters and their families as well as seeing how far they have come since I was first introduced to each one.
A lot has happened over the years, but there is a lot that happens in this book. Each one has grown and changed in the best ways even if it took some longer than others.
Adrien broke my heart several times, but there is one that stands out more to me than the rest. I’m so glad he had both Raphael and his sister Celeste to support him and walk with him. I also think he is the one who grew the most over the course of this book.
I would love to see each one of these characters in the future but I also think this was the perfect way to say bye to them.
This book would be better enjoyed if you have the others since there is so much recall from the earlier books. But the intimate moments were not for the pearl clutches.

This is the last book of the series. Definitely need to read the others to know what is going on. This book was good. It wraps up the other stories, I really loved that. It is set 3 years after the last book. I like how the author finished these relationships.
This is the fifth and final book in the series and I have not read a book quite like this before. I loved how the author gives the reader a bit of an update of the characters from the first four books. It really helped tie everything together and I am a sucker for finding out more about the characters from the other books. I highly recommend reading the other books in the series so you can fully understand what is happening. This is a collection of short stories about each of the other books. It doesn’t mix the characters in each story but it does tie them together in a way that makes it a very nice flowing book. There is the steam, romance, and there is still a little bit of drama. I can say that this book really just put a great closure on the series and really helped the reader stop wondering what happens to these amazing characters. It is set 3 years in the future from the last book. I just really love being able to see what is happening to the characters that I have fallen in love with through out the series. This is a must-read after you’ve read the rest of the series. If you happened to pick this book up first, please go back and read the rest of the series so you can fully understand what each character when through to be where they are in this book. This is a new author to me. I also did not read the rest of the series, only picked it up with the 5th book in the series. From what I could piece together, the 5th book is a mixture of the earlier books and a short story of each of the main characters a few years after the end of the first 4 books. I like to keep an open mind whenever reading books. This one can be a trigger for some so keep that in mind before deciding if you want to read it. To me it was a bit rough reading trying to figure out all the characters (again, I didn’t read the rest of the series). The parts I appreciated the author for writing us the use of he/she and they/them. I do my best to understand where people are coming from and this book made me understand things better. It was a bit of a tough read for me but I definitely learned something.
This one took me on a journey I did not expect. We catch up with the ever changing lives of the characters in this series. It is exciting, heartbreaking and thrilling all at the same time. We see characters from the past revisit in the future. Find out who is happy, looking for a change and missing old partners. The story is well written as it takes us through a year of these characters lives.

Release is the fifth anthology in the Rewind series, featuring a collection of short stories and serving as the culmination of the series. The anthology comes with a caution as it addresses biphobia, suicidal ideations, and depression. While it can be read as a stand-alone, it’s highly recommended to read the previous four books in the series before diving into this one. The finale brings together all our favourite characters from the earlier books. As always, Rowan excels in crafting beautifully written scenes and fully realized, authentic characters. This instalment turns up the spice and heat, making it a great choice for fans of racy storytelling. It’s important to remember that love is beautiful, and love is love, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or identity, as exemplified in this wonderful collection by Rowan. I’m eagerly anticipating what Rowan has in store for us next.
If, like me, you have ever wondered what happens to characters after their HEA, then this book is the one I would recommend. This book is a great collection of stories that revisits all of the character of the main series, three years after the final book. It provides us as readers a chance to glimpse at what they have been doing since we last read about them, and it is a very welcome view. Even though this is a collection of short stories, the book is just as well written as the main ones. It took no effort for me to reconnect with all of the characters and I enjoyed revisiting each and everyone of them. This is a great book and a great way to end the series.
This book is a collection of short stories that conclude things for all the characters from the previous books in this series. For me having not read the previous books it gave me a taste of the characters and the writers style etc BUT I highly recommend doing it the right way and start from the beginning people! Don’t be an idiot like me LOL You are going to love the characters and storylines so much you will want to know it all so just start from the very start!! I definitely am off to read them all!

This is the final book in the ‘Rewind Series’, which consists of five LGQBT romances. Set three years after the final book, this anthology of short stories looks at what happened after the characters achieved their HEA’s. I liked how each of the short stories intertwine making it read like a novel. I would definitely recommend reading all four previous books in this enjoyable and engaging series before picking this one up. As per the rest of the books in the series there are trigger warnings to bear in mind. I thoroughly enjoyed ‘catching up’ with all the characters from throughout the series.

This was an incredible anthology of short stories in part of the Rewind series! I did not read the previous books first, so I do feel that I missed a bit of the experience that the author intended. Somehow even after skipping those, the author made these characters still shine bright for me! I am absolutely going back to pick up the first four and get filled in on all of the characters and their stories. The romance contained within this book is refreshing as it breaks out of your typical ‘boy meets girl’ kind of routine. I love the inclusivity of each story and found myself fully invested in the characters right away. The author graciously included trigger warnings so that no one is caught off-guard by any of the content which I greatly appreciate. If you are looking for a fast-paced LGQBT Romance to get lost in, look no further than this magnificent read!
Release is the fifth and final book in this series. I recommend reading the previous books to get to know the characters better and where they been. Plus they are just as good as this one. This is a fast paced collection of short stories that tells us how the each characters journey ends. I truly enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend reading this book to see for yourself what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

This is the fifth and final installment to this series. I highly suggest reading the previous books in this series to see where the characters have been and to enhance your enjoyment of this author. This is a collection of short stories that will tell you how the characters end their journeys. It is a great final installment and I for one am sad to see this series end. I enjoy the characters and what they bring to the story. They are connectable and relatable. I had no problems picturing myself with these characters. I enjoyed watching their growth and attraction which made the story easy and entertaining to read. This is a fast paced, hard to put down story and one you don’t want to miss. I really enjoyed this series and this book. I highly recommend this book. I look forward to seeing what is next for this author.
Release is the fifth and final book in the Rewind Series by Rowan Shaw. It is the crowning conclusion to this emotionally charged series. This is an anthology of shorter stories which are tied together by the characters and common thread/s, which get tied up at the end. The book is set 3 years after the conclusion of Rebound (Book #4) ended, and for me, it felt like an extended epilogue to the characters stories that we’ve read in the previous books. Catching up with characters we know and love, while meeting a few new ones who add their own stamp on the stories/series. Release comes with a strong Trigger Warning, so if you have any concerns, you really should check them out before diving in- but it is the author’s hope that by including these topics and struggles, that they instead help make you feel seen and understood. This is a ‘queer’ romance series, as it includes MM romance, Bisexuality, poly, etc- bringing plenty of angst, drama, challenges, and struggles along the way. But interwoven through it all is the connection, love, acceptance, diversity, hope, and belonging that we all crave. As with all Rowan Shaw’s books, it pulled me in right from the beginning. The story is quite emotive- it is so well written that the characters and situations were completely ‘real’ and believable. And as I have said previously- Ms. Shaw certainly knows how to tell a great story- writing a complex, thought-provoking, moving, and memorable stories. The Series Contains: -REWIND (Book #1) – Florian & Enzo -RETURN (Book #2) – Adrien & Raphael -REVIVE (Book #3) – Patrick & Brandon -REBOUND (Book #4) – Noah -RELEASE (Book #5) – Anthology
A fantastic way to cap off the series! Happy Reading…

It is so nice to catch up with all the characters from the Rewind series, like a “where are they now” update. My heart aches so much for Adrien and his sister Celeste, their mother is really something, and Adrien struggles so much especially when forced to see her face to face. On the other hand it breaks me that Raphael is struggling emotionally with Adrien and Raphael wanting things Adrien doesn’t. Their brief relationship with Mallory and Eleanor is hot! Enzo is still self conscious about Florian’s relationship with Raphael but, anyone can see how in love Florian is with Enzo. Florian’s mom is a real piece of work as well trying to pull the grandparent card to see Maelis. The rights grandparents have in France are so different than what I grew up with so, I was happy to see Florian gathering all the evidence needed to make sure she does not win. Noah, Yohan and Charlotte still seem to be in a beautiful place together and thriving with their little family. In the end I am happy to see everything working out, not as I expected but, I am satisfied with how everyone’s relationships turned out.
This book is the “what happens after the happily ever after”. Short stories used to bring us back into a world of love, hate, acceptance and closed-mindedness. Not a perfect world but this author puts the emphasis on the love and acceptance these characters have for each other and their friends.
I really enjoyed catching up with all the characters from the previous books. It was like checking social media to see what’s new with our friends. The steamy parts weren’t so bad either as long as you like consensual, breathtaking, fulfilling sex.
Recommended for those that have read and enjoyed the rest of the series.
Rowan is the queer (bisexual) author of REWIND, a romance series set entirely in her home country, France.
Her writing is own voices when it comes to bisexuality, queerness, and French culture. Addicted to reading and writing, you can usually find her with a book in her hands or sitting in front of my computer, typing while listening to music from the 80s.
This is one of my favorite series of this year. I absolutely loved all of the stories in this series. This set contains Rewind, Return, Revive, and Rebound. I want to let the readers know that this is a M/M series that takes place in France. Once I started this series I could not stop. I could not get enough of these characters. I devoured these books in only a couple of weeks.

Wow, This series has some great characters and a great storyline that flow together nicely to the next book. The writing style really brings some depth to the books. I couldn’t put them down. I like that the stories are coming from the characters. It was nice to read about the LGBTQ Community and see the struggles they deal with in relationships as well. I enjoyed the french setting and how the stories opened my eyes to the LGBTQ community even more.

Rewind series is the debut novel by Rowan Shaw. If you are like me and love a really good romance in the LGTBQ community then this series is for you. This series takes place in Paris, France and each book you follow a different couple. As these books can be read as a standalone; I highly recommend reading in order do to interconnected characters.
Rowan’s writing was so truthful and emotional that I wanted to fight alongside these characters. You will be on a roller-coaster of emotions from Rewind to Rebound.

The Rewind boxed set puts Rowan Shaw’s entire series all in one easy grab. The series starts with Rewind. This is a wonderful story of two men reconnecting. Enzo is deaf but has not let this get in his way. He is a strong man who has had his heart broken. Florian had his life under control until he has his life torn apart by love. The characters are well written. I liked despite challenges the men are strong but not to the point of being unbearable. The story is good also. I wanted the best for both Enzo and Florian. The story of a second chance at love and how we all deserve the chance is good. The secondary characters were interesting and were a nice complement to the main characters. They helped the main characters to tell the story but did not take away from them. The series continues with Return. I enjoyed the first book in the series and was interested in what would happen in this book. This can be read as a standalone and enjoyed because the story is contained. Raphaël Diop is a student living in Paris looking for affordable housing. Adrien Dupuis has a room available in his apartment. The two do not have much in common and live very separate lives. Will their relationship change? The characters are well written and I enjoyed learning about them. Also, the secondary characters added to the story and did not take away from the story of Adrien and Raphaël. This is a bisexual romance and if this is not a comfortable theme this might not be the book for you. I believe that if you can read this story you will enjoy this book and get to know Raphaël and Adrien better. Revive is the third in this great series. Brandon is a recently divorced father who is grappling with his sexuality. Patrick is single and does not think he is relationship material. What happens when the two hook up one evening? This is a good story dealing not only with a fledgling relationship. I also liked Brandon is dealing with his bisexuality and the prejudice he comes across. This is dealing with realistic topics and handles it well. Rebound rounds out this series. Some of the characters are coming full circle and returning in this book. There are characters which reoccur and having the background is helpful. The characters are very well written and they tell a story which could be battered and treated poorly with love and respect. There are polyamorous relationships and they are told wonderfully and explained from all parts of the relationship. Rowan Shaw makes the characters easy to relate to which leaves you wanting the best for all parties. I really enjoyed this book as well as the others in the series.
