There are plenty of twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what happens next. Have you ever wondered if you know your friends as well as you think you do? Where’s Allie and what secrets has she been hiding?Can Charlotte find her? I highly recommend this book and I also recommend reading the first book in this series if you haven’t already. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Wow! I just finished the amazing second book in the Ashes to Ashes series, “Less You Know” and it was crazy good! I LOVE mystery/thrillers and this book really delivered! Charlotte Ashe is back on the Garner case and this time she has help from Allie Brown, a woman Charlotte meets who has a way in with Garner. I don’t want to say much more because Rowena Holloway has woven a very intricate story and I don’t want to spoil a single thing! Most books I read like this, I can sort of guess how things will play out, but this time, I had no idea and I loved it! The twists were so good! Just do yourself a favor and make sure you have read the first book “Bad Things Happen.” But seriously, read this book series!! I can’t wait to read the final book, “From the Ashes!” I give “Less You Know” five obvious stars!!

Less You Know is the second book in Rowena Holloway’s Ashes to Ashes series. Charlotte is still hell bent on taking down corrupted tycoon Tyrone Garner, and airing out all his dirty laundry. But as Charlotte uncovers more about Tyrone, she digs her grave deeper and deeper. Before she buries herself she asks for help from her best friend Allie. But as things start to unfold and the secrets unravel, Allie vanishes; and Charlotte doesn’t know what to do.
I really enjoyed this second installment of Holloway’s Ashes to Ashes series. It was just as suspenseful as the first book. Equally as engaging and filled with more twists and turns. I could not put the book down, and was sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time. The writing was very captivating and well thought out. Everything was planned to the finest detail and executed perfectly. Highly recommend the series to anyone looking for a gripping suspense series.

Less You Know was a great 5 star read and book two in the Ashes to Ashes series.
This is a great psychological thriller that pulls you right in. You won’t want to stop until your done.

Charlotte is a very strong and determined woman. Once she gets on the trail of something or someone she doesn’t stop until she gets answers and Tyrone is the one she is focused on.

When Charlotte’s friend Allie disappears, she starts looking for her, as she’s searching she uncovers some secrets about Allie. What will happen when/if she learns the truth about both Allie and Tyrone?

I was pulled in once again by the author’s writing, I felt like I was right there with the characters. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. I love a good story that has me thinking the whole time and I was surprised with the ending as well. There are several twists and turns. The secondary characters were great. If you’re looking for a great psychological thriller I highly suggest this series/book. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Wow! The second book in this series and I loved it just as much as, if not more than, the first one! This can be read as a standalone however I would 100% recommend reading book 1 also. The story was an exciting, gripping read that I had a really hard time putting down. The twists and turns in the story are probably amongst some of the best I have ever read; just when I thought I knew what was going to happen there was another twist. The author absolutely kept me on my toes and on the edge of my seat with this read. The ending was brilliant! I loved that I couldn’t even begin to guess what was going to happen in the story, I felt like I was trying to solve it alongside reading it. The dual point of view meant I got information from different characters as I was trying to piece together just what had happened!
A fantastic, gripping read one that I absolutely recommend! I am certainly looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

I was surprisingly pleased with this book! I didn’t know what to expect but I’m so glad I read this book! Bad Things Happen is Book 1 in the Ashes to Ashes series by Rowena Holloway. This story follows Joey Baptiste, who is a professional football (Soccer) player that has witnessed a major crime. This story also follows Charlotte Ashe. She is a weather girl on television trying to become a true crime reporter. Charlotte gets lucky when Joey comes to her with this crime, but Charlotte has no idea what she’s getting into. Her job and life is on the line and Joey is trusting her with everything. Now it’s up to Charlotte to uncover the whole truth behind Joey’s story. Can she do it? I guess you will have to see! I did like the way that the author grabbed you and continued to keep you in suspense the whole time. To be truthful, it was a little bit difficult to keep track of the timeline. Other than that…I loved the characters and the well to be honest the British language! I truly do love books based in the U.K. Things tend to be a bit more forward and raw. The humor is hysterical and I loved how Charlotte is completely focused on her work and doing well at her job. She is determined to prove everyone wrong and prove that she can do the job! I love when the female lead is strong and learns to come into her own.

Bad Things Happen: Gripping Psychological Suspense (Ashes to Ashes Book 1) By Rowena Holloway. This is my first book by this author and I’m glad I gave it a try. While I had a bit of a time fully sinking into the story at first once it picked up a bit I couldn’t put it down. There’s definitely some moments that had me guessing and on the edge of my seat wondering what was coming next. It does a bit of jumping back and forth time wise but it never felt confusing to me. The characters are complex and compelling making for a very good read.I’m excited to read more from this author. I’m giving this book a four star review and recommend it.

I was not so sure when I picked up the first book in the Ashes to Ashes, Bad Things Happen, but once I finished it I knew I would be back for the rest of the books in the series. I was so excited when I saw the cover of Less You Know pop up on my new reads list that I dived in first and asked questions later… who am I kidding, the only question I asked is why did that end and when is the next one coming!?!? Rowena Holloway stuns us once again with a fantastic and true to title gripping suspenseful read. I felt as if I was on an up down ride of emotions that I couldn’t make much sense of from one moment to the next. Of course, this is a good thing when you go to get lost in a suspenseful thrilling book. Once again, Charlotte and her friend are the center of this story and we see them much as we did in the first book. Only this time we learn much more about their secrets and all that people tend to be hiding. Even when we think we know them the best. I absolutely loved it and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book! Thanks for the great read Ms. Holloway!

Bad Things Happen: Gripping Psychological Suspense is the first book in the Ashes to Ashes series by Rowena Holloway. This mystery/thriller is the first book I have read by Rowena Holloway, but definitely won’t be the last. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. This book had me hooked from the very first page and I just couldn’t put it down until the last. Charlotte Ashe is a local weather babe, trying to rise up in ranks to investigative reporter. Joey Baptist’s is a on the rise soccer player, who ran into some trouble. When Joey contacts Charlotte with a scoop and things start happening, Charlotte doesn’t know who she can trust as she investigates what really happened to Joey. This book had me on the edge of my seat with all the twists and turns. If you love a great mystery, I highly recommend this book.

Less You Know by Rowena Holloway is the second book in the Ashes to Ashes series. This can be read as a standalone and be enjoyed. I was excited to read this book because I enjoyed the first one in the series a lot. The character of Charlotte continues to grow but this also means she finds herself falling into some strange rabbit holes in her investigations. Lies and coverups are all over the place and it makes her question everything she knows. I enjoyed the writing because it kept the story at a good pace and I didn’t want to put the book down. The characters are interesting and add to the overall suspense and mystery. I look forward to more from Rowena Holloway in the future.

Less You Know by Rowena Holloway is the second book in the Ashes to Ashes series. This book is an enthralling as the first one. Centred around two best friends it explores the fact that we never really know people as well as we think we do.
This book absolutely grabbed my attention. I had to know what was going to happen; where had Allie gone? What secrets had she been hiding? Could Charlotte find her? Would Charlotte disappear next. I could feel my heart thumping at times as I was reading this book. It truly was edge of your seat type reading.
Rowena Holloway has such a gripping writing style. I am glad that I have discovered her work!

From the beginning, I felt like I had stepped onto a ride that didn’t stop until I had finished the final page. It made my heart beat faster and I had to remind myself to breathe. This story had me on the edge of my seat and wondering what was going to happen next. Charlotte Ashe is a woman who wants to uncover lies and expose those who tell them. She believes and wants to prove that Tyrone Garner is a fraud. Charlotte is someone that once she starts down a path, she is determined to get answers. She has a strong will. Allie is Charlotte’s friend and doesn’t shy away from helping her with her investigation. A little bit of spying sounds exciting. When Allie vanishes, Charlotte is desperate to find her. Will Charlotte find Allie? Is Allie still alive? Charlotte has now found herself going down a path in which more questions are being raised. Secrets about Allie are uncovered. Will Charlotte find out the complete truth about her friend? Is everything that she believes about Tyrone Garner the truth? Read this book to find out. Trying to put together what was happening and who was responsible was like working on a puzzle. There are characters whose motives and actions are questionable. Is Charlotte in danger? What a fantastic roller coaster! Literally, this book grabbed hold of me tightly with the first page. I was glued to my seat as I poured over every page attempting to figure out what was going on and who was responsible. The author establishes a very clear tone reinforced by the narration by two characters. Really enjoyed this thrilling whodunit. Definitely recommended reading!

This is an action, suspense-thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat until the last page. I enjoyed the twists and turns that just kept coming. Charlotte thought she was going to enjoy Christmas Day with her friend until her friend didn’t show up. What happened to Allie? Was there a link between her and the former football star? I enjoyed how determined to find the truth Charlotte was. She made the story for me. I highly recommend reading this book, find out what happened to Allie.

Bad Things Happen (Ashes to Ashes #1) by Rowena Holloway was a suspense thriller that had me holding my breath.

My first read by this author, I didn’t know what I was getting into, but I took that chance and man did it ever pay off. A dark look into London’s football, drugs, secrets and a deadly tip that puts our MC in danger, this read hooked me, and pulled me into the game.

As much as I was absorbed into this book, I will say that the start was a little too info-dumpy. I get that a setting needs to be set, but sometimes holding info back will add to the story instead of just unloading and hoping the reader will stay with you. Also with all that info, I had a time sifting through it, and keeping the facts straight. But once I got pass that, this story dug it’s dark claws in and I got lost in this thriller.

Overall this book is an engaging, entertaining read that will have you guessing, lead astray, and wondering what’s up and what’s down. Paired with an multi layered plot and complex well rounded characters, this book will take you on a dark ride, have you on the edge of your seat and leave you shocked.

So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval that you will not be able to put this book down.

Rowena Holloway’s Bad Things Happen is the first book in the Ashes to Ashes series. This gripping psychological suspense was a thrilling page-turning read. The element of suspense was expertly timed keeping me fully engaged within the story. The details that were embedded into the story were rich and well thought through. Charlotte’s character shone in this story with her ambitions to move out of where she was presently in life. However, things don’t always play out the way you would anticipate and that is absolutely the case for Charlotte when Joey comes into her life and changes everything. The unknown was riveting to read in this story and seeing where it took the characters within the story.

Bad Things Happen was a great 5 star read and book one in the Ashes to Ashes series.

This is Charlotte and Joey’s story and it was a thrilling, mystery about a secret that Joey, a football player shares with Charlotte. Charlotte is a reporter looking for her big break and when Joey took a chance on her she knows she is on the verge of getting what she wants.

Loyalty and truth? No freaking way. There is no loyalty. And in this life there is only one truth. Everybody lies.

Charlotte is determined to get that secret from Joey, but things take a very dangerous twist. Now that Joey is gone, will Charlotte solve the mystery behind Joey’s death before anyone else gets hurt? Who can she trust?

The story is told in alternating POV going from past to present which helped with understanding the story and being pulled right in. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. I really liked the secondary characters. The author does a great job with her writing and pulls you right in. If you’re looking for a good suspense with mystery, twists and turns this is a read for you.

Bad Things Happen by Rowena Holloway is the first book in the Ashes to Ashes series. It is an intriguing and exciting book that will keep you on your toes.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I loved how she developed the story all the way along. She wasn’t scared to twist the story round in a direction you wouldn’t necessarily see coming.
I loved that the story jumped back and forth in time. It added to the suspense of what was happening
This book is a great way to start a new series and for me was a brilliant introduction to a talented new author.

Bad Things Happen by Rowena Holloway is what the title says “A Gripping Psychological Suspense” story. Rowena Holloway does an amazing job keeping the mystery going through out the story. This story is a dark thriller with suspense, secrets, truth, twists, and turns. Holloway makes sure that you have all the information you need to understand the story fully. There are times when I just wanted to close my eyes and get lost into my “happy world” because I was fearful for what was coming. Then BAM!!!! A twisty turn comes and makes me reread what I had just read because I missed the turn to her twist. I would allow time to read this book in one sitting as it moves at a good pace, and for me at least, I wanted to finish to see how everything came together.

A great read about wanting more to life . Charlotte Ashe is a weather girl on TV, not content with life. Dreaming of a career in journalism, she is over the moon when a rare opportunity lands in her lap. Despite everyone doubting her, she follows up a lead from her source, Joey. When he turns up dead, Charlotte realizes there is more to the football club than it seems. Can she uncover the truth before its too late?
A great read. Well developed plot. Well developed characters like Charlotte ambitious and standing up for herself but kind underneath or Joey trying to protect the ones he loves and do the right thing. Great cast of supporting characters like the full of life Maddie or the kind Tam or the annoying Piers.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel with the lights over the water and London bridge lit up as urban but also beautiful in their own way. And with all the traffic being busy and full of life but making up the character of London. Or the colourful nature of the wine bar and its homely feel contrasting the hospital white walls and emptiness that was beautifully written. The theme of wanting more to life and stuck in a career that doesn’t excite them was emotive and perfectly written.
The switch of perspectives between chapters worked well to display both sides of the story and was easy to follow. The use of the past and foreboding later on was a great idea to show what happened and for the events to unfold. Also to draw out the suspense as you kept reading to find out what happened stretched over chapters. I also liked the times and dates with the title chapters for a sense of time passing quickly and fast paced action. The only issue I would raise is that it felt slow to start the action despite the fast paced nature of these chapter titles. There was also some repetition in places especially concerning Charlotte’s relationship troubles and if this was resolved it would be five stars. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.

Oh my goodness, what a story!! Rowena Holloway has woven an intricate and fascinating thriller in “Bad Things Happen!” Charlotte Ashe is a determined woman, she came to London to make her big break and has been stuck as a weather girl for too long. So when she meets local footballer Joey Baptiste, she jumps at the chance to tell his story. Like Charlotte, just when I thought I had this story figured out, I was thrown for a loop and oh boy was it a good one! This story was by no means predictable, which I love! Sometimes, I read a mystery/thriller and can figure out the bad guy in no time, but this story really keeps you on the edge of your seat and guessing until the very end! There was a quality to the story I didn’t love and it has to do with Joey. However, overall this was a fantastic read and I can’t wait to dig into the sequel “Less You Know!” So, I give “Bad Things Happen” five stars!

Bad Things Happen by Rowena Holloway is the first book in the Ashes to Ashes series, it’s also my first book by this author. I will admit that I had a hard time getting into this story, there were so many storylines going on that it almost felt as if it was a second or third book of the series and not the first. However, Rowena provided both past and present moments which helped make the pieces all fall together and they helped me feel more invested in the characters.

Even though I had a harder time in the beginning I still ended up highly enjoying the many suspenseful moments as they kept me intrigued and wanting to continue reading in order to see how it would all play out. As I kept reading, I found myself more and more intrigued and captivated with every twist and turn and every new shocking detail which was added to the storyline.

I’m looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Bad Things Happen is the first book in the Ashes to Ashes series. This story is left open to pick up in book two.

I have to say, I’m not a huge fan of sports so I was a little concerned that I wouldn’t like this book, but it actually had me sucked in from the beginning. It isn’t sports heavy and focuses more on the mystery and intrigue aspects. I found the first-person story line for Joey an interesting choice considering what happens to him. One thing I found interesting is that a lot of the characters you kind of have a love/hate relationship with. They’ve all got something that makes you cringe a little bit, but also parts of them that make you love them in some way or other, at least most of them. There were a couple characters that were just…evil. I am interested to see how things play out in the next book.

Bad Things Happen: Gripping Psychological Suspense is the first book in Rowena Holloway’s Ashes to Ashes series. Charlotte never thought she’d be willing to kill someone for a story, but when her informant ends up dead under mysterious circumstances, Charlotte might just end up doing that or end up dead herself.
The book definitely took its time to ease you into the suspense, but once it had you in its clutches it did not let go. I found the start of the novel to be a little clunky; it dumped a lot of information and some of it was poorly explained. I spent a lot of time trying to understand the relevance of certain side plots and characters. As well as the various characters and their motivations. Eventually it did all make sense, and I found myself enjoying the book a lot more. But it took a hot minute to get there.
This book will definitely leave you on the edge of your seat, and have you reeling after all the twists and turns. Overall I gave this book 3/5 stars and look forward to reading the second book Less you Know, in Holloway’s Ashes to Ashes series.

Bad Things Happen: Gripping Psychological Suspense (Ashes to Ashes Book 1) ​by Rowena Holloway is full of dark secrets and fraught with danger. This psychological thriller will have you on the edge of your seat while the suspense keeps you on your toes. The story often goes back in time but does so little by little just giving you a hint of a little bit more until the whole truth is revealed and boy does it have some twists.

Charlotte Ashe is a weather girl working in London. When a hint of a story is thrown her way, little did she know that it would come with deadly consequences, secrets and lies, painful truths and so many cover ups that she would never be the same. With so many players uncovering the truth from the lies, before it’s too late may just be her undoing.

I look forward to see where the story goes next.

Bad Things Happen was such a gripping read and one that I really found difficult to put down, this is also the first book that I have read by this author. I was really taken with her writing style, she kept the book exciting and gripping the whole way through and she definitely threw in some great twists and turns too. The characters were complex and had a great depth to them. The storyline was well thought out and had a great pace to it. I loved the way the author chose to write the story and it was not confusing at all, it made the story interesting and unique to read.
I can’t wait to read the next book in the series – I hope it is as exciting, gripping and dark as this one was!!!

BAD THINGS HAPPEN A gripping psychological thriller by Rowena Holloway

Four Stars

Bad Things Happen sounded like a new movie hitting theaters. Charlotte is looking for the story that will make or break her career. That story just happens to figure some dangerous players. This story was so thrilling. I couldn’t get enough of how well the author wrote this story. Joey is on the run but time seems to be catching up to him. So many secrets and lies. The characters had grown with the story and the author gave us a thrilling ride.
