First Fire (The Guardians Series Book #0.5) by S. Lawrence – Review by Angela Hayes

First Fire (The Guardians, #0,5)First Fire by S. Lawrence
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

First Fire is the first book in The Guardians series by S. Lawrence. It is a fantasy with some mythological aspects to the tale. The author does a great job of adding uniqueness and individuality to the entire story. This novella is the first book that I have read by S. Lawrence, and I am happy to say that it won’t be the last. The story is engrossing, well written and fun. It is a very quick and easy read, but never felt rushed or cut short in any way, like some other novellas seem to. The characters are interesting and fully realised, with wonderful backstories and unique personalities. The story is emotive, with just enough drama and action to be engaging, and to keep me turning the pages to find out what was happening.
We meet Ylva, who is the daughter of a goddess and a berserker- and Asger, who is a berserker warrior, whom the gods have selected to become the first ‘Guardian’. We follow the story and the characters as they hurdle training, ritual, obligations, and love- while learning to control new found powers.
There’s a lot going on in this short story and I enjoyed reading it all. I look forward to more from S. Lawrence in the future.

Thank you, S. Lawrence!

A Single Girl’s Guide to Paris by Raven Gale – Review by Angela Hayes

A Single Girl's Guide to ParisA Single Girl’s Guide to Paris by Raven Gale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Single Girl’s Guide to Paris is the first book in the Single girl series by Raven Gale (S. Lawrence). It is an erotic romance, with a little adventure to keep things interesting. The story is sexy, fun, and entertaining. I love the synopsis of the story- a single girl’s traveling adventures, which she then uses to write her travel blog, who meets Mr. tall, tattooed and hunky with a dark/dangerous vibe. He has his own reasons for traveling, which we also get to follow over the course of the story. This book essentially has two storylines which blend together into a great read.
I do wish the book was a just a little bit longer, as some of the paragraphs were a little rushed, and at times felt cut short. I still really enjoyed the story and am really looking forward to reading the rest of the series- but I did feel that this story may have suffered just a little in the author’s attempt to confine it to a novella.
The characters are so likeable and interesting. They drew me in immediately and had me clamoring for more. Their chemistry was nothing short of electric and they certainly had the ‘sizzle ‘factor! I loved Ember, and Carter is just drool-worthy. It is such a great premise, and with just a little tweaking, this story could be soar to a red hot 10 star read!
I am intrigued with what the author has coming up next, as we follow Ember to Venice! Bring on Book #2!

Thank you, Ms. Gale!

First Fire: The First Guardian Novella (The Guardian Series) by S. Lawrence – Review by Jenni Bishop

First Fire (The Guardians, #0,5)First Fire by S. Lawrence
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First Fire: The First Guardian Novella (The Guardian Series) by S. Lawrence takes us to the magical world where Norse Gods, Celtic Goddesses and Viking Warriors abound and magic is strong. First Fire is the prequel to the The Guardian Series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is well written and full of action, war, sorrow and a love so deep you don’t know who you are without your other half. I love that S Lawrence has written her story that is full of mythology and the paranormal. It is a short read but a good read. Before you know it the story has ended and you are left wanting more. I also love that the story was written in multiple points of view which adds an extra element to the story.

I am anxiously awaiting the next book!
