Savage (Ash Park Series Book 10) by Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Samantha Jayne Grubey

Savage: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 10)Savage: An Ash Park Novel by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So I really liked this book and for the most part, it can be read as a standalone which I did. There was only a few times I was like whattt but I’m sure once I go back and read the rest of the series (which I will be doing) because I was hella invested in this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I can’t wait to read more. I really liked the characters and the story. I really liked some of the dark themes we had running through this book. If you like mystery, suspense, or psychological thrillers this is the book for you.

Auctioned (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 3) by Via Mari – Review by Samantha Jayne Grubey

Auctioned (Billionaire Bodyguards, #3)Auctioned by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Billionaire and Dark mafia you can bet your chickens that I was there for this book. I love those two tropes and once I read the description I was a goner. So this is the 3rd book in the series but can be read as a standalone all this book made me want to do is go back and read the rest of the series because your girl is intrigued.

I really liked the characters. Bryanna is the niece of a rich socialite and becomes caught up in a sex trafficking ring. As you can imagine the stakes are high and it does keep it very interesting and tense. Damian is part of the elite group of Billionaire bodyguards, when he is tasked to find Bryanna and he’s up for the challenge.

I really enjoyed reading this and I will be going to read the rest of the series by this author. Really enjoyed.

So one of my favourite tropes is when we get to see writers and authors in books and I just love seeing their process and their struggles and I love it!
I really liked Alex and Penny’s relationship the story was really good it kept me hooked. What I wasn’t so keen on was the fact it was all in Alex’s POV which didn’t expect took me a second to get into it.
Really enjoyed the camping and the book!

Hacker (The Mercenaries Series) by Nadine Travers – Review by Samantha Jayne Grubey

Hacker (The Mercenaries, #2)Hacker by Raven White
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So this is the first book I’ve read by this author and I read this as a standalone which although it’s number two in a series it can be read as a standalone. So usually I have an issue with standalone that I feel like there’s a huge gap missing as I didn’t read the first book but this book didn’t suffer from that at all which I was thankful for.
I really enjoyed the plot and the characters, the story kept me interested and hooked and I couldn’t wait to finish it. The book has some humour which was good in the moments we needed and romance and steamy moments. Really enjoyed this.

Price of a Rose: A Beauty & Beast Tale (Historical Fantasy Fairytale Retellings Book 2)Price of a Rose: A Beauty & Beast Tale by Byrd Nash
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So I really enjoyed the first book in this series so I was excited to start the second one especially as it’s beauty and the beast and that is my favourite fairytale so high expectations. Maybe that’s where I went wrong though having high expectations.
It was good but it just wasn’t amazing.
The dad loses a game of cards and as the story goes he trades his daughter away for a rose to the beast. His daughter take charge of their own fates. Lily becomes the housekeeper at the manor and Poppy beigns reading magic books and becomes his secrety. Rose then begins to work magic in his garden. She is going to be the key to unravel the curse that is on him.
Although as we all know it’s never simple.
If you enjoy retellings and fairytales and magic and little bit of historical romance this is your book.

I really enjoyed this book the series does keep getting better. I loved this friend to lovers romance. At times I thought Erica was really selfish the amount of times she let Gage down but other than that I really liked her. I really enjoyed the writing and I love the worlds that Carrie creates. I can’t wait to read more from her.

Allison is a medium, healer and psychic and also afraid of ghosts after having a traumatic experience. She’s been betrayed by people and anyone with money cannot be trusted.
Logan has his own demons, but he also is an empath only he doesn’t know it yet. He doesn’t trust his visions and they stop him from trying to live his life.
Immediate attraction pulls them together both have issues that they need to overcome. They have great chemistry and if you like broken characters finding their happy ending this story is for you.
I really liked Carrie’s writing and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book because I love her series.

What she doesn’t count on is finding out her father had a double life a life that she is to also drawn into an elite secret organisation. The series is really enjoyable I liked being able to read them all at once and not have to wait for the next one. It was really enjoyable if you like fantasy I recommend it highly.

This was one of my favourite retellings so far! The way she writes this story is magical and I loved it. I can’t wait for the rest of the series to come, it was a good story. I really liked that we have the regency period and it has the full beautiful ball gowns, chivalry, and proper etiquette. Melinda was a really interesting character and I love the interactions she has with other characters. It’s certainly a good story and when fairy blood meets tall, dark, and handsome you know it’s going to be good! Really enjoyed the book can’t wait to see where it’s going to go in the series.

Crave (Clark Family Series) by Evelyn Sola – Review by Samantha Jayne Grubey

Crave (Clark Family Series Book 1)Crave by Evelyn Sola
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I have really mixed feelings where this book is concerned. I really like Jake and Sandy but I felt like Tracy had a bit too much focus on in this book. It felt like some scenes dragged to the point where they could have been left out in the book. At times Sandy felt way too judgemental that did at times make me want to punch her. At times I felt the secondary characters were more the main characters which probably shouldn’t have happened.

The story was full of angst, family drama, some humour, and sizzle. Overall it was an okay read for me. I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it either. Loved some of the story the characters were okay.

Broken Circle (Gray Ghost #1)Broken Circle by Amy McKinley
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed the narrator telling the story and found her voice very soothing and I enjoyed her telling the story. I really didn’t like Alex as a character thought he was a bit of a wanker, especially how he reacted to something (don’t want to say because of spoilers). I really liked the plot and enjoyed the story. There were times through this book where I was like I really couldn’t care what happened to these characters and then I was like oh my god this got better. I really enjoyed where the story went, the twists and turns. I really enjoyed the writing. I loved the letter bit at the end that hit me in the feels.

This was extremely cute and a great read for Christmas! It’s packed full of Christmas and baking but we also a cosy little mystery with magic and matchmaking which of course is happening in the best season. The festive spirit is suddenly gone when things begin to disappear and it’s Joanie’s reputation at risk. This was a really sweet and interesting story it kept me hooked and really engaged in reading and overall it was just so good! A shorter book but nevertheless done really well still!

So the story focuses around marital abuse and at times my heart broke when I was listening to this it was so gut-wrenching. From very early on you know exactly what it is going g to be happening in this book. I feel like the author handled it really well and respectively and sensitively too. I really like that the author tackled these topics and it was written really well.

The narrators of the audiobook did a fantastic job with this story and really brought it to life and also handled it with such care.

High Heels And MistletoeHigh Heels And Mistletoe by C.A. King

It’s a good Christmas themed romance by C.A. King. I really enjoyed her Wendigo Forest so was excited to start this. I really liked the characters in the book and you can’t help but root for Julietta when she begins to learn the joy of Christmas and Luke thinking he’s found what’s been missing in his life.
A curveball is thrown and I loved watching this two dance around each other, building their relationship and them growing together. It was so cute and sweet and I loved it!
Like its everything you want in a Christmas story, romance and magic you can’t help but love.
This is another great Christmas read and is really getting me in the mood for Christmas!

At Last (The Adams Brothers BOOK 1) by Mindy McKinley – Review by Samantha Jayne Grubey

At Last (Adams Brothers, #1)At Last by Mindy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the author’s debut novel and I really enjoyed it. The romance was hot and steamy and so cute. I really liked the main characters, Lola although fabulous really didn’t have any self-confidence at the beginning of the book when it came to singing at least. She was really committed to her students. Dom is her work colleague and he has a reputation as the heartbreaker and obviously hot.
I really liked how the story unfolded with the side plots adding so much more interest and intrigue. The writing is really easy to read and I found it very enjoyable and didn’t have to think too much which is also great. I always love a book where I don’t have to think much.
I will definitely look forward to more from this author!

This was adorably cute! I really liked reading this book and quite honestly it’s the perfect way to start those Christmas reads which I know I will be binge-reading over the next few months! I really liked the story and I really enjoyed the characters. The book was quick-paced but not too fast and it didn’t feel rushed at all which is great.

The way Rowan and Jeremy begin to connect is so cute and adorable and I fell in love with their characters and it was cute. I liked them both resisting until giving in to each other it’s one of my favourite things in these kind of books. They try to resist and always fail!

Really enjoyed it!

Grosse Pointe by Natalie Barnes – Review by Samantha Jayne Grubey

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So once I got used to the writing in this book it got a lot easier to follow that being said the author stays very true (I believe) to the time period that she is writing in. The book is action-packed and fast-paced and I loved the description in the book and how it didn’t slow the action down either. I really liked the scene with Brek and his mum that was really cute.

I really loved Finn! I kind of loved him more than Brek but he was a great character and I really loved his relationship with Hazel, weirdly more than I did with Brek and Gabriella. Regardless though still loved them but Finn and Hazel have my heart.

Honestly, some of this book is so tense and it did get me on the edge of my seat. This was a different kinda book for me and I’m glad I took the chance to read it. Also that ending… I don’t want to say anymore because spoilers. Let’s just say I was slapped in the face…

Love On The Ropes (Love In Action Book 1) by Aviva Vaughn – Review by Samantha Jayne Grubey

Love On The Ropes (Love in Action, #1)Love On The Ropes by Aviva Vaughn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So I have not read the Beckoned series before this and just like it says it is a standalone you don’t feel like you miss anything from not reading the original series which I love because there’s a few times where I’ve read standalone and been completely clueless because of what happened in the previous book/serious.

I love the frenemies to lovers trope it is one of my favourites mainly because I always love the banter between the two characters, Erin and Clint did not disappoint they gave me some banter worthy scenes and I loved it!

I really like Clint he is hilarious especially with his internal monologue for himself, the fact he knows he teases and annoys Erin and recognises that he still wants her, like the kind of get in that bedroom wanting you and I like that he doesn’t hide it all that way. He’s very charming and charismatic, although not all that great about expressing those feelings he has.

Erin I’m on the fence of how I feel about her, I like her character but she’s also kind of annoying at the same time, strangely. Although once Clint starts opening up to her I like her a little bit more she doesn’t seem so judgy. So other than the judgyness of her I really like her character.

Although we stan Fern! I love him! He’s super supportive!

I like how much we go into the climbing scene this book teaching me things I didn’t even know, although that scene kind of gave me chills between CLint and Erin. The sexual tension between these characters, honestly the tension comes pouring off the page. The fact they both want each other but really don’t say it at the beginning makes me really frustrated I just want them to talk to each other and be honest how they feel. Damn the drama that happened in this book the cabin and the woods (I have to admit reminds me of a certain horror movie that did the cabin in the woods, not the actual thing that happened but the name).

I really enjoyed this story and the plot of the story, I will definitely be interested in reading some more of this author’s work, it was a really cute enjoyable read! I liked the characters and the story kept me reading!
