A typical night of partying leaves Daniel Blair with far more than a hangover. His myriad of strange symptoms defy explanation, as does the blood on his pillow. And something is very wrong with his tongue.
Afraid he contracted a terrible unknown illness, Daniel seeks help. But his frantic search for answers takes a horrifying turn. Struck by violent impulses, and compelled by a cryptic voice in his head, he commits unspeakable acts. He struggles to fight back, but something is growing inside him, changing him, breaking his mind.
As his life spirals out of control, Daniel discovers the “invasion” of his body has a purpose more insidious and far-reaching than he could ever imagine. One Earth isn’t ready for—and might not survive.

Oh, Robert Rife, again, you have written a book that had me spitting coffee (my grandson wasn’t so appreciative of that). I so enjoyed this book. It’s weird, unique, original and just as good as the first two. I have waited so long for another book from you. Your science fiction is wonderful and I just started my husband on the first book. These are books that make you go hmm, and laugh. The characters are weird, that’s for sure. I enjoyed the flow of the story. Let’s just say that I will never buy house with a UFO under it, LOL. And watch out for the ladies in lab coats. (You have to read it to understand that one. I’ll be eagerly awaiting more.

This is my first book by this author, so I had no expectations going in. I enjoy science fiction books, so I thought I would give it a shot. I discovered in the first few chapters that it was not the book for me.
I’ll leave these quotes from the book here as to what set the tone and gave me a difficult reading experience: – …an exceedingly unlucky tribe of Gitchiegoomba Injuns, discovered part of the intact ship protruding from some faintly glowing rocks. Informed by their medicine man that it was a God, they immediately fell to worshipping it, making sacrifices… and consuming copious amounts of peyote. As was their custom. – Perchance the medicine man was a drooling idiot… – Descendants of these… Injuns later became known as Indians, and later, American Indians, and still later, Native Americans. Evolution at work… how progressive. – This esteemed scientist thinks racism is in all peoples. He’s right; it is. It’s as natural as thought; it’s the instinct of self-preservation. Neanderthals weren’t racist. Perhaps they were an early form of… Woke.
There are also several other slurs used in other parts of the story.
I understand that this story, in part, was meant to have an undertone of humor. I suppose this sense of humor just doesn’t vibe with mine.
I gave the book four stars because the overall story line and concept is creative and the actual story telling is good. I just wasn’t a fan of the general tone.

This book is a pleasant surprise. It has twist and turns around each corner. It keeps you intrigued until the very end. This isn’t just another run of the mill sci-fi romance books, it’s really good. It has a great story line with a lot of depth and gets you thinking about a lot of different things.
This is the second book from this author that I read. It’s actually the prequel to The WayDowns. This is definitely not my type of book, but I am determined to finish reading it. This basically tells us how there is a spaceship under a house, which everyone thinks is haunted. When really its just invaded by aliens. There are moments that I find that I can’t stop reading and then there are moments of not really want to read on. I am still currently reading this book so I can not give a full review. I am hoping to finish the book soon.

This is the first time I have read anything by this author. I really had a hard time getting into the story. I will tell you that some of the characters names are weird. Like Shank, Dr. Goust, El-vis, Shadow, Seevee. I think the main character’s name is Tonya, who wants to be basically in charge of Deck 19. However, there are other creatures that could be standing in her way so she has to figure out how to get there. Along the way she encounters the others and together they might be able to take control of the ship.

This would normally not be a book I would just pick up and read but I am so glad I did! Can you imagine waking up after being in cryogenic stasis for a thousand years? Shannon discovers this new world and expected to provide information, except she can’t remember things and she is full of questions. The characters are absolutely fantastic and the story telling is great. There is enough of everything to keep you turning the pages and interested. Highly Recommend!
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I enjoyed it. It was set in a post apocalyptic future where the earth was destroyed and the main character Shannon is awoken from a cryo sleep by an interesting alien male seeking answers she doesn’t have. There are twists and turns, drama, mystery and romance. I thought this book was interesting from the start and I will definitely pick up more by this author in the future! Happy Reading!
Unexpected Revival by E. L. Roux is the first book in the Revived series. An enthralling post apocalyptiv Sci-fi read that will absolutely snatch your attention and quickly become addicting! I could not get enough of this book, and with it being out of my usual genre, I fell in love with it immediately. The plot of the book itself really hooks you and keeps you asking questions all the way through to the end. I very much look forward to seeing where this author takes this series!
I enjoyed this book. I don’t normally read science fiction novels but this one caught my eye and sounded interesting so I decided to try it out and I was not disappointed. I really liked the twist in the story and found myself unable to put it down until I finished reading it. I do like stories that are about what the earth will be like in the possible future and I found this story intriguing. The story flows really well and and the author created a vibrant world for me to explore. I look forward to reading more from this author
I absolutely love reading stories in which certain concepts and themes are brought into new stories with their own twists. This novel was definitely one of them and I enjoyed it from the beginning. Shannon has been frozen for over a thousand years and she has been revived. With such a large gap of years missing, she is full of questions of what has happened to Earth. Certain things are withheld and she’s monitored as she rehabilitates to her new surroundings. Soon after her earthly departure, Earth gets attacked and then years after they start communicating and engaging with aliens who trade with one another. She also becomes acquainted with a male alien, D’lane and her curiosity gets the best of her of learning about him and starts developing feelings for him. Seeing where their relationship grows and coming to terms with many unknowns sums up this story in a nutshell!
I read a book by this author earlier this year, so when I came upon this one, I picked it up immediately. They deliver a compelling narrative that blends high-stakes adventure with rich character development. Shannon is our main character who came out of a cryogenic stasis, finds herself grappling with her forgotten past and looming threat of planetary annihilation. The tension between her and D’lane grows immensely and leaps off the pages. Both characters go through their own evolution, but Shannon’s is my favorite. She goes from a confused and vulnerable figure to a determined protagonist willing to confront her past. The plot twists are well-timed, keeping me on the edge of my seats as alliances shift and the threat of annihilation looms ever closer.
Overall, this was an engaging and thought-provoking read that blends sci-fi romance, adventure, and a touch of mystery. Fans of sci-fi will find themselves eagerly turning the pages, ready to uncover the secrets of the past and fate of the galaxy. I’m excited to see what else this author has in store for us!
This post apocalyptic romance was an intriguing read for me. Shannon who has been frozen for centuries is thawed out to answer some questions about her involvement in the destruction of Earth. The only problem is she can’t remember anything. She then meets the male alien D’lane and a romance forms between the two. Will Shannon ever get her memories back? Will their romance make it? Find out!
This book was good. This is the first book of the series. Shannon was in a cryogenic sleep, then something woke her up. She discovered that Earth has been destroyed. Comes across a male who also happens to be an alien, and she is attracted to him. D’lane has his own mission to needs to complete.
It’s an interesting story with unique characters. The flow is pretty smooth. There are a few parts to be smoothed out in the premise of the story but overall it’s okay.
This was a really good sci-fi romance. The author has done an incredible job of world building really bring world thousands of years in the future to know. Giving the reader a glimpse of what the future may possibly look like. This does have a romance element between our main character Shannon and alien called D’lane however there is so much more in this story. There are secrets, politics, dangers, and the threat of war against Earth to add to the story.
Shannon has been brought out of a Kyrogenic freeze thousands of years after her death. But why was she brought back? Finding herself in a time that she doesn’t know surrounded by people who aren’t human means Shannon has a lot to deal with. But that’s not all Shannon holds the secrets and information required to stop another attack on Earth but with her memories lost and not reappearing quickly will they be able to get the information they need before it’s too late? As well as finding love unexpectedly there is also enemies that Shannon isn’t aware existed. Can she survive the new world she finds herself in? And can she Shannon and D’lane work together to save this new world?
I really enjoyed this story. I was captivated from the beginning and I wasn’t able to put it down until I finished. I look forward to reading more from this author
I can confidently say that this book is unique. The characters are well developed and the plot is out of this world. Well, I guess the plot is kind of in this world with sprinkles of other worlds. There is no need to read the other two in this series before reading this one, but I cannot wait to go back and read the other two. I can only hope they’re as good as this one was.
This book was everything. It was funny, mysterious, sci-fi, tense, and heartfelt. This author has a way with words and I cannot wait to read more by them. The writing was great and the story was even better. I have not read such a unique read in a long time, if ever.

3 – 3.5 stars I’ve only read a couple of E. L. Roux’s books, but I like that we get a variety of genres. I really enjoyed “Unrequited Love,” the first book in the Magic and Heartache series, so I decided to explore more of this author’s work. That’s how I came across “Unexpected Revival,” the first book in the Revival series. It’s a sci-fi tale that spans new worlds, enemies, and aliens. This book captured my attention from the beginning and held it throughout.
Shannon finds her world turned upside down when she discovers she died over a millennium ago. This is not her world; her world was destroyed, so there’s that. She doesn’t know who she can trust or anything else about the place, so she has her work cut out for her. Well, that is if they survive.
I won’t give away any spoilers; you’ll just have to read it to discover what happens.
4.5 stars I really enjoy Robert’s writing, especially his irreverent black humour, and his latest book, The Waydowns, did not disappoint. It’s the third book in The Cool Thing Science Fiction series, but each book can be read on its own. The story is full of mayhem and madness, which I found delightful. It’s a unique blend of dark comedy, horror, sci-fi, and paranormal elements, with plenty of suspense and tension. I couldn’t put it down and didn’t want it to end. The tale is so unpredictable and wild that there’s no telling which way is up or down. It’s a disturbing, absurd, and thrilling ride that I highly recommend. Make sure to grab a copy and prepare for a zany walk into a nightmare of epic proportions. Beneath all the craziness, there’s a strong connection to the characters and their emotions, which ties everything together.

Unexpected Revival by E.L. Roux is sci-fi romance set in a post-apocalyptic future. We meet Shannon who has just awoken to unfamiliar surroundings after spending far too long in cryogenic stasis. With the destruction of Earth a millennium ago, and a new threat looming, there are questions that only she can answer, if only she could remember. Throw in an intimidating, yet intriguing alien male, corporate entities, politics, trust factors, high stakes, danger, chemistry, drama, mystery, and tension- and Shannon is about to embark on an epic adventure, as well as finding love against all odds. Happy Reading…
The Waydowns is the third book in The Cool Thing Science Fiction Series by Robert Rife. This third instalment of this madcap romp of a series turned out to be my favourite (so far)… Mr. Rife has outdone himself here with his unique blend of paranormal, sci-fi, suspense, horror, and dark humour…. Then throw in some action, dramatic developments, creativity, imagination, originality, aliens, spaceships, ‘zombie’, and more- and this story really takes off. Again, Mr. Rife proves to be a fantastic storyteller- easily ensnaring his readers in his web of words, holding them in the palm of his hand all the way through till the end. Well worth the read!

When Shannon realizes the only person she can truly trust is D’lane she has to rely on instinct and hopefully they will end up with the same goal in mind. Will Shannon succeed in saving the planet? Read this fast paced Sci Fi Romance to find out!
From the minute I read the blurb, this book gave me Demolition Man vibes, which I absolutely loved. The premise of this story was great. Waking up years in the future and having to jump into action made of an exciting story. There was so much packed into this book, it really keeps you hooked from start to finish. I thought the connection between the characters was great. It was strong from the moment they met and meant you became invested in them. This is a well written story by an author I really enjoy. I would suggest this is a book worth reading.
This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed reading. I enjoyed this author’s writing style and his ability to pull me into the story from the start. This is a well written story about what happens when you buy a house that has a UFO underneath and a mad scientist. This has been described as a soap opera in hell. I enjoyed the creativeness of the characters and what they add to the story. I also enjoyed watching their growth throughout the story. This is a fast paced, hard to put down story and one you don’t want to miss. I found this book easy and entertaining to read. I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to seeing what is next for this author. I highly recommend this book.

I didn’t realize this was the third book of a series, but it literally didn’t matter! This is such a unique read and has a great combination of comedy and horror and suspense mixed all into one. I highly recommend if you’re looking for something a little different than your normal read. It will keep your attention and have you wanting to know more. I feel like I have to read the first two now! Thoroughly enjoyed!

An engaged couple buy a home with a UFO beneath. Not their best move. The saucer still has residents. So does the house.
“EXQUISITE HOUSE! Exquisite? Let me tell you how exquisite it is. We got a mad scientist about to perform Hoodoo on our, not exactly human, friend, who is dyin’ on account of ghosts. Ghosts of children from his, not exactly alive, wife. It’s a soap opera from hell, and we ain’t even moved in! Did I leave anything out?”
She failed to mention the starship buried beneath this exquisite house. Why bother?
Robert Rife loves dark comedy, science fiction and horror. The more twisted, strange, irreverent, and weird it is… the better. Just like he is. And he thrived for years in the same legalized thievery as his ethics bereft protagonist. Plus, having been married and divorced twice, he’s been told tons about NOT being human. Yes, tons. He could write a book. This scribbling reptile is a great dad, failed husband, and all-around horse’s butt. He lives on an island. Under a rock. Only Santa and large women of dubious character are allowed to visit. Santa often skips.

Bookbub – Unexpected Revival (Revived Series) by E.L. Roux
Dying a thousand years ago was the easy part.
Stopping a planetary annihilation? That might just kill her again.
The cat-like alien blocking her exit was the first clue Shannon had that something wasn’t right. Discovering she’d was freshly thawed from cryogenic stasis was her second. When the corporation that revived her wants answers about how she played a part in the destruction of earth over a millennium ago, she’s more than willing to respond. The only problem is she doesn’t remember how.
He was everything she wanted, but nothing like what she was used to…
Out of balance in this new era, Shannon turns to D’lane, the other out-of-place being in her new sphere of existence. Now slightly less terrifying, the intimidated alien male is shifting from a close friend to something more. A relationship she’d be more willing to explore if he wasn’t dead set on fulfilling his destiny, at the cost of destroying everything they’d built.
She wanted it all, but she’d have to save the galaxy to keep it…
With another planetary annihilation on the horizon, it’ll take everything Shannon and D’lane have to work together and unearth new information on how to stop the impending battle. With enemies hiding everywhere, they’ll have to learn to rely on each other to survive what’s coming for them, because not everyone wants to stop the attack.

Like any amazing story it all starts with a book. Andrea finds in it the library and it sparks her desire to find Atlantis. She never knew what she would find there but a trip through a doorway at the bottom of the ocean brings her to new friends, her mates, and a tournament she just has to win. This book is so unique and so fun with the perfect amount of steaminess. I knew right away that I would have to read the other books in this series. I love the relationships between the characters, they are so well written. Andrea is a great female lead as is written with so much strength. I really enjoyed this story.
