If you haven’t read a Lois Wickstrom book before, know you will always go on some sort of adventure. This story follows three kids going on an adventure to find a time capsule to win a prize! One of the kids, Timmy, has to take care of a dog to help out a lady who is injured. Along the way, you’ll discover a lot of really cool things about Cody, the dog. This is a really great book for kids starting out reading chapter books. It is very easy to read and follow along with. I also enjoyed it as an adult.

This story was cute once you got into it, but it was a bit all over in the beginning. Give it a chance and get into it some and you will see that it all comes together! Timmy, Beth and Arthur are working on a science project in the woods. A lot of things are going on at once here. Beth is trying to get a soil sample, Arthur is writing a song, and Timmy is looking for a monster in the woods. When they’re heading back towards the well, they get a call about their teacher getting surgery and needing someone to watch over her dog. Her dog Cody can wag her tail in Morse code! How cool is that?! Super fun! At the same time their teacher lets them know about a hidden map to a 200 year old time capsule! There are clues on the map, but no X that marks the spot! Deciphering the clues will take time, but they only have a week! If they find it in time they get a $1000 reward, but what they don’t know is that it holds a 200 year old secret that someone wants kept quite! Danger follows them and they don’t even know it!! Follow these three in their adventure to find a town’s treasure. Super cute story and of course I’d recommend it! I’d say this book is good for any child ages 6-12.

Code Dog by Lois Wickstrom is an intriguing little children’s adventure chapter book. Unlike most of her other books this doesn’t contain any illustrations, but is original and imaginative as I would have expected from Ms. Wickstrom.
As I mentioned above, this is an intriguing adventure with plenty of mystery, action, investigation, suspense, sci-fi elements, a sprinkle of drama, high stakes, a time crunch, lessons, investigation, and a little danger.
When A 200year-old time capsule goes missing and an intriguing map falls into their hands, Timmy, Beth, and Arthur find themselves thrust into an adventure that non of them will soon forget. Add in a special dog named Cody who understands and uses morse code- and this story takes off. What happens makes for a fun read.
It is a much longer story than any of her picture books, so it’s great for reading a chapter or two before bedtime.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Lois Wickstrom!

An exciting children’s mystery read that is a fast paced and fun read. The characters are well written and easily relatable. Reading along with them it feels like the reader is part of the gang solving the mystery. A good story for young readers to get lost in or for reading aloud for bedtime.

It follows three young children named Arthur, Beth, and Timmy along with a dog named Cody as they try to solve a mystery. A 200 year old time capsule is gone from where it should be. If they find it in time they could win $1,000. Working together will the dynamic team find what is missing and earn the money?

Code Dog is a fun children’s Sci Fi adventure story where three friends decide to find a hidden secret. This 170-page adventure story is geared toward older children in elementary and middle school 8 – 12 years old.
Journey along with Timmy, Beth, and Arthur as they follow the clues to find a 200-year-old time capsule that is missing, and the time is running out. The three friends are on the case, but they aren’t the only ones.
This twisty tale has frozen maps, money on the line, science projects that are incomplete, songs are not written, and a dog who understands Morse code and surprising discoveries are made along the way.
Lois’s writing style is simple to follow and inviting, there are many good thing to learn along the way. Code dog is another unique and charming tale.

After reading House Valdis Origins: Xenobia I knew this was going to be a uniquely addicting series. The blend of science fiction and fantasy in the books makes everything feel new and exciting! From vampires to ghosts to aliens they all have a refreshing twist. Just like the series itself, completely unexpected and unpredictable! Xen is such an entertaining character to get to know and each page just flies by with fast paced action and intrigue! I would highly suggest reading these books in order (starting with the prequel) to understand and fully take in Naomi Valkyrie’s amazing world!

I never hesitate to pick up any work from this author because they always take me on such an unforgettable adventure! It was a phenomenal quick read for my day. I couldn’t believe how perfectly the author balanced the length of the book with the development of the plot and characters! I have read the prequel and the first book in the series, so I was ecstatic to pick this up and dive right in. I will say that it should not be read as a standalone or you will likely get quite confused with the storyline and characters. I usually have a difficult time with books that have more than two points of view, but this was an exception to the rule. It’s told from multiple points of view, and I absolutely loved it. Xenobia has such huge responsibilities while they try to make things better for the people she loves. I don’t want to give anything away, but the amount of unpredictability in this book is a major win for me! I am crossing my fingers that the author gives us more to this series. If you love dark, paranormal fantasy books, don’t pass this one up!

I highly recommend reading the first book prior to beginning this story, along with the short prequel House of Valdis Origins: Xenobia, as it gives you a comprehensive look into Xenobia’s former life. The author struck gold again with It Comes From Within. I felt like this story held up very strong alongside the previous book, which I also very much enjoyed. The creativity put into crafting this world of Xenobia and her friends held me captive from beginning to end. There are a lot of elements weaved into the story, which surely can appeal to many types with genre preferences. Xenobia has her hands full since she has taken over House Muerte without learning that a new blood den has been formed. She has Chiamaka’s request to give his conduit, Ezrah, her blood, and then his request for Xenobia to become his conduit. Matthew and Onyx are present in her room at all times, and their linking invades her mind constantly. Beyond this, Sybil has begun having visions of the victims of a vampire attack. Onyx goes undercover, bringing Sylvia with him so she can teleport if they get into a bind. When challenged to drink Sylvia’s blood, he discovers her addictive secret. Meanwhile, Audrey has been monitoring Emberly’s nightmares, and they have started a relationship. Emberly convinces Audrey to take her to the blood den. She has plans for the rogue vampires to go out in a blaze of glory.
Naomi Valkyrie’s It Comes From Within continues the tale of Xenobia’s struggle to remain a pacifist. She is afraid of her power, which she believes makes her a mass murderer. The exceptional detail and various character views add depth to the unpredictable plot. The suspense, witty remarks, and intrigue made this novel difficult to put down. I was able to envision every moment with vivid descriptions. I have read the previous books in the series, and they just keep getting better. There are no dull moments to be found on any page, and the book is, without a doubt, well worth a five-star rating.

It Comes From Within is Book Two in The House Valdis Series. It is a polyamorous urban sci fi fantasy filled with action, danger, mystery, suspense, secrets, lies, drama, romance, friendship, vampires, shifters, aliens, magic, and paranormal. This book picks up where the first book left off, so I highly recommend reading Book One first. It will introduce you to the characters as well as give you each of their backstories. Xenobia is struggling with her new leadership as she tries to merge House Valdis with the former House Muerte. The stakes are high and the merging of the two houses comes with a great deal of responsibility that she does not feel prepared for. As if that is not enough, Xenobia is faced with a new enemy, the White queen, who is determined to create her own den of vampires and become ruler at all costs. The story is told from the POV of numerous characters which enables the reader a deeper understanding of each of them. A fast paced, action-packed, rollercoaster ride that leaves you breathless in anticipation of the next book. This author never fails to deliver a fantastic story!

It Comes From Within is the second book of theHouse Valdis. I HIGHLY suggest you go check out the first book and also the prequel before reading this on, that way you have a full understanding of what’s happening and how Xenobia started out. This one takes place six months after the last book. This is also told from Multiple perspectives which is awesome so you know just how everyone’s feeling and thinking throughout the whole book. Gotta love that, so you are not left saying “i wonder what so and so was thinking right now”. But man i didn’t think this storyline couldn’t get any better than the last I was wrong lol. Naomi Valkyrie writing and world building is fanfreakingtastic. Like I swear this had me in a chokehold until the end.like i had a lot to do today but i kinda blew that off to finish reading this book 😂 oops. I really hope there will be more from this series, until then i will be going to check out some of her other books. 🥰

Having read and enjoyed the previous books in this series I was looking forward to being back with Xenobia and co and I was not disappointed. The storyline continues and it is six months since Xenobia took over and the stress of the House Valdis expansion is starting to show. Xen is determined to show the former House Muerte members that she is not at all like their former Master. However, her good intentions have lead to insurrection, and an unsanctioned blood den is discovered, along with an unexpected enemy being revealed. This leads Xen to reminisce but her memories can either haunt her or give her the solution she needs for victory. Once again I was transported into the urban fantasy/paranormal world of the House Valdis, and the descriptive narrative brings the setting vividly to life. I love the quirky and unique characters and I enjoy the multiple POV’s as it makes me feel engaged with all the characters. The LGBTQ relationship dynamics add to the story and the fast paced, exciting plot kept me hooked throughout.

This is the prequel to what looks to be an amazing series. When you first dive into this book you aren’t sure what to expect. I know I wasn’t sure. I however, learned vey quickly that this is a fast paced book and it is super easy to read. The way the author describes things makes it easy to understand the world that she is creating. It allows you to really visualize every little detail. You will get caught up in the life of Xenobia. She is an amazing character that has so many things going on and she goes with her gut instinct. It is amazing to see her navigate her way through things. I was caught up in this story from the start and it is such a quick read that I can’t wait to read book 1 in this series. I am glad that I read this before book 1, because I am bringing all of this knowledge with me to the next book. If you like Sci-Fi you will love this amazing world and characters that have been created. If you aren’t a Sci-Fi fan, like myself, you will still really like this book because there is more to than just Sci-Fi. I highly suggest reading this series because if this prequel is this good the other books in the series have to be amazing.

This is the start of an amazing series. The prequel is a must, before this one if you really want to be able to understand things from the beginning of the book. That said if you haven’t read that, you will still be able to understand what is going on, it will just take a little longer. My suggestion is to read the prequel first and then read this one. You won’t be disappointed. This book is a quick read and sucks you into this amazing world. The vivid imagery is insane in this book. You can actually picture everything and everyone very clearly. I am not a Sci-Fi fan at all but this author makes it easy to read and I actually really enjoyed reading it. The paranormal characters and the twists in the love story help move this book along. You will start it and finish it without even knowing any time has passed. Does the saving a young girl, help the main character with her cause or does it hinder it. That is what I kept asking myself with this book. I love when everything starts to be pieced together. This book I feel ended to quickly but am thankful that there is a continuation that I can read.

This is the second book in the series but technically the third if you read the prequel. This book continues the saga of what the other books started and the vivid imagery that the author describes things really allows for you to be able to picture everything. This book is well written and sucks you in from the beginning. If you haven’t read the other books that is fine, you will be a little lost but the book definitely makes up for it and you won’t really notice. However, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t read all of the books. You won’t be disappointed if you do. The characters are really strong and make this story everything it needs to be. I normally am not a fan of sci-fi but this reader makes me want to be one so badly. I feel like I am just fan-girling with this author at this point. If you want to be swept away into a different realm and meat amazing characters this series is for you. I will add that this book does leave you on a cliff hanger that you won’t see coming because you will be so engrossed into the book. Makes waiting for the next one hard.
