Saratoga Roan by Bree Lewandowski – Review by Lucy Vincent

Saratoga RoanSaratoga Roan by Bree M. Lewandowski
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There is NOTHING like a story with romance, horses, and healing in it. Saratoga Roan is one of the best ranching stories I’ve ever read, and if you enjoy Amanda Cabot’s Texas Dreams books, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this one too! Rhett is a hard-working man keeping the family horse ranch running, when out of the blue, his first love returns to the ranch. Cassandra, hoping to re-spark the relationship, wonders if it might be too late. With a medical complication thrown in the mix, who knows how their story will unfold?

Sarah Andrews is one smart cookie. She’s a top-notch attorney, educated at Stanford and freshly fired from one the best legal firms in Indiana. Her love/win record is 0-3 and as she approaches her thirtieth birthday, she decides she needs a quiet, safe place to regroup. She decides to go home to Dodd.

But Dodd, Indiana is far from safe once she comes face-to-face with Richland Conrad Cooper. Rich and Sarah go way back to high school. Rich was teen-girl kryptonite—athletic, charming…persuasive—and Sarah was not immune. She fell hard, certain she’d found true love. But it turned out to be nothing more than the first of her love tries and fails.

She thought time had shored up her defenses, but one look at Rich makes her heart do flip flops. It’s like the moment where unrequited love gets a do-over, the only problem is…Rich doesn’t remember who the hell she is.

That hurt, and no matter how hard Rich tries to make up for that initial faux pas, Sarah won’t forget. She has learned—if a guy steals your heart, breaking his is quid pro quo.

Only when Rich is served with a custody challenge of his two daughters does Sarah call a truce. Working together, Rich can’t help but totally fall for her. She’s cold and rude, forcefully pointing out their differences and his flaws every chance she gets. But the heart wants what the heart wants, so Rich tries even harder to convince her she isn’t meant for any other guy, but him.

Second Chances by Roux Cantrell – Review by Jenni Bishop

Second ChancesSecond Chances by Roux Cantrell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Second Chances by Roux Cantrell is a story all about getting a second chance at both life and love. This is my first story by this author and it totally broke my heart for what the main character went through but I absolutely loved this story. Roux’s writing style is easy and flows well making you feel every step of the way and the characters are so life like that you will fall in love with them. You will feel a myriad of emotions whilst reading this book. You will find yourself laughing and crying, frustrated and yet hopeful.

Frankie had great friends and life she was happy with until one day turned into a nightmare that she couldn’t wake up from. That one tragic day that changed her life forever. It would be the day she had to fight to survive. The day when she would be broken.

Gauge is a broken man who is fighting his own demons. Demons he can’t keep at bay. Demons that haunt him day and night. Demons that stop him from having a normal life.

Will these two be able to connect? Will the demons keep them from finding what they truly want?

You will find yourself getting lost in this story and hoping for a HEA. Even after finishing this story I was finding myself still thinking about them, the emotions definitely pack a punch. This is one book you do not want to miss and you will kick yourself if you don’t. I can’t wait to read the next one. Hopefully there is a next one!

Change of Heart (Second Chances 1) by Jennifer L. Allen – Review by Jenni Bishop

Change of Heart (Second Chances 1)Change of Heart by Jennifer L. Allen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Change of Heart is the first book in the Second Chances series and it is a lovely read. It is a romantic story but it has its twists and turns and fair share of heartache, that may or may not require tissues.

Casey and Decker have been best friends ever since he walked in and declared they would be at the tender age of six. Unfortunately Casey always had a hard time in high school and that changed things. She always knew she loved Decker but did he feel the same way? The two have been inseparable all their lives, until Casey moves away to college and breaks both their hearts.

Decker knew Casey would be his best friend and he stated as much when he first went to her aid. He may have been six but her knew. When she moved he didn’t know why but three years later she is back and he is determined he will find out. Whilst harbouring his resentment Decker confronts decides it’s time to Casey but one look tells him things are not right. What secrets is Casey hiding?

Can these two reconcile their friendship and return it to what it once was? Will Casey open up to Decker and tell him how she has felt and her reasons for leaving? Will Casey reveal the secrets she is harbouring? Can Decker handle the truth behind the secrets? Could he forgive her if he knew? Can Decker make Casey see what is important in their lives? Will Casey finally let him in and give them a chance of a future?

At times I found myself wanting to shake Casey and her stubbornness but at the same time found myself wanting to hold on to her. Decker is sweet and loving and willing to fight for something he feels he should have fought for three years earlier. I was rooting for Decker the whole way. Jennifer has written a book that was sweet and yet sad, frustrating and yet sometimes funny. You will find yourself falling in love with the characters.
