Solstice Shadows: A VanOps ThrillerSolstice Shadows: A VanOps Thriller by Avanti Centrae
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have never read anything from Avanti Centrae prior to Solstice Shadows but I will definitely be back for more now! This book is one wild and adventurous ride the entire read. I love how this combines the thriller aspect with the adventure and sci-fi with a splash of romance to keep everyone interested at all times. This book certainly had my attention from page one and I read it well into the evening to finish it in one fell swoop. I just had to know how the characters would end up in the end and if there was going to be more soon on the horizon. I am excited to go back and read book one now of the VanOps thriller series. I can only imagine the adventure waiting there.

We meet Maggie, an Aikido black belt teacher as she discovers that someone has broken into her place and stolen a very important artifact. She is also in danger and things only speed up from there. She has to join forces with VanOps to help her retrieve the stolen item and ultimately end up saving the world. It is a lot of story but so worth the investment and I can’t say enough good about the world building we get in here too. You will feel as if you are right there with Maggie and the team as they traverse each adventurous task they find themselves in. Grab a copy today, you won’t be disappointed you did.

The Lightning Horse (Empire at Twilight #1) by N.L. Holmes

This is the second book I’ve read by Holmes and I’ve got to say this is another great read. Holmes has managed to capture my attention with this book and I can’t wait to read the next book of hers.

Tiwatipara, the charioteer, learns from a young age that life isn’t fair. He lost his mother due to child-birth and he lost his father due to an accident with the chariot.

Things are getting worse three years after the accident. Tiwatipara is not himself anymore. He’s ridden with guilt, blaming himself. Things do turn around for him. The quote I chose for Tiwatipara is: “Well, I’m quitting, too. He can’t treat us like that and expect us to do him favors.”

I highly recommend this as Crime book. It’s got twists and turns throughout.

When I first read the blurb for this book it sounded like a book I would really enjoy, I love a Navy SEAL story, there is just something about these characters and overall I enjoyed what I read. I will say that it is a book that is quite complex in its storyline so I wouldn’t say it was an easy read, I did have to re-read the beginning so I could fully understand what was going on but once I settled into the story it picked up in my opinion. There were quite a few things going on so I think you have to be prepared to be able to concentrate on what you are reading, it isn’t a book you can easily dip in and out of. The characters were good, they were well thought out and planned and the authors writing was pretty detailed, there was a good mystery running through the story which definitely had me keep turning the pages to find out what was going to happen. I don’t think there was as much romance in the story as I anticipated but it was definitely a good mystery!
I would like to read more from this author again in the future.

I absolutely LOVED this book!!! I almost passed it by when looking for a new book to read but I fell in love with the cover (something I rarely look at) and I am so glad that I picked it up! I was hooked from beginning to end. The authors writing was fantastic and a wonderful introduction to her as a new to me author! I cannot wait for read more from her. The descriptive language and writing the author uses is one of the best I have ever read, I could imagine every little detail she was talking about. I loved Valentina, she was such a great character to read about and following her on her journey was great. There were so many wonderful twists and turns in the story it really was exciting to read and I couldn’t put it down at all. It was great to read something so different and although I love romance I’m not a huge fantasy fan but this book was just amazing!
I 100% recommend this book to other readers and I cannot wait to read more from Ms Frost in the future!

When I first saw the title for this book I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but the synopsis sounded interesting so I thought that I would give it a try and I have to say I was quite captivated by what I read. I have read work by this author previously so I knew the writing would be good but I really enjoyed the characters. The way the author wove them together and their stories was really great, I felt like I really got to know them throughout the story. They were all different characters but I really liked all of them and they were believable as people, for me this really helped me connect with them. I liked that the book was really character orientated, it was about them more so than a story – this made the book really enjoyable and different to read.
Overall I really enjoyed this story and would absolutely recommend it to other readers.

Secure Desire (Chase Security Series Book 1) by R.L. Dunn – Review by Susan Mowdy

Secure Desire (Chase Security Series Book 1)Secure Desire by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Secure Desire is one action – packed romantic suspense novel. It gives you everything from action, violence, twists and turns, and everything you would want in this genre! Ian Chase is an Ex Navy SEAL and now head the Chase Group which is a billion dollar security firm. Imagine to his surprise when his brief encounter with a very engaged art historian that he had six years prior suddenly pops back into her life. Cassiopeia Ellis is no longer engaged and even though she suffers from amnesia, she remembers meeting Ian all those years ago. This is a good thing but it also scares the crap out of her. He has appeared in her life when someone out there wants her dead. This book had me at the edge of my seat THE WHOLE TIME! It was such a thrilling ride and I can’t wait to dive into book 2!

Alligators in the Trees was a great story following three different people who work or frequent Frank’s Coffee Shop. All are unique characters and the plot is extraordinarily detailed, and so very interesting. Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down until the end. I enjoyed meeting and following Tobias, Philip and Priscilla through their problems, decision making and life changing processes as they find a way to love their lives again. This story was a truly enjoyable adventure. Cynthia Hamilton did a great job with this book and I look forward to reading more books by her in the future.

It Comes from Within (House of Valdis Book 2) by Naomi Valkyrie

5 +++++ Stars

I must mention before anything else that this genre is NORMALLY not my chosen genre, but this author has taken this to a new level for me and I’m so invested in this whole story and in all of these characters to a point that I already want to go back and read all again. Real life didn’t exist while I read this book. It was leftovers for supper and less sleep than normal. Phenomenal job!!

There are a lot of people to keep track of in this book, a lot of moving parts to keep straight. What Miss Valkyrie did with the different chapters and the many different POV’s allowed me to connect to each character in a way that made this story that much better for me. I was so engrossed in every page that I did have to force myself to slow down so that I could keep everyone and everything compartmentalized. Once I did that and focussed on every word it was, simply put, completely amazing.

This part picks up a little bit after book 1 ended and I’m not going into too much of the storyline because I will not give away anything that will take away the enjoyment of experiencing this story except to say…I would NOT attempt reading this as a standalone, it wont work. You wont understand some of what happens or feel the impacts without book 1. I’ve sat and thought about who my favorite character is next to Xen of course and I can not come up with a favorite besides maybe Matt, he makes me smile. I just love the family feel and the loyalty portrayed in this story.

I can not wait for the next book in this series, the twist in this book was a complete game changer for me and the path Xen has decided to take could make things even more interesting.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in this series. Best to read the first one as this is a continuation from that. You have art with the first book and a political type mystery with this book. Karina ends up being a person of interest when a senator ends up dead while talking to her. Karina starts her own investigation into what’s going on with what happened with the senator. The political side wasn’t bad even though it didn’t hold my interest As Much. Book had plenty of action, suspense, and drama to keep my interest. Fast-paced and easy to read. Ellen knows how to Intrigue you!!!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When one night imprints in your mind and has never really forget it, but when a chance meeting with the same person stirs up those feelings again, do you go for it?

Ian is a ex-navy seal who has embarked on new horizons with new businesses, but when he meets a blast from his past, will he give love a chance or stay well away.

Cassie is trying to rebuild her life, after an attack she has been left with amnesia, until Ian comes into her life she remembers some of their history but this causes her to have anxiety of what will happen next.

This is the first book in this series and I thoroughly enjoyed the aspects of mystery, intrigue and interlaced with romance. The book held my attention throughout and was eager to race through to get the end on who was after Cassie and the reason. Cassie and Ian’s characters where well developed and the chemistry came through the story.

The story itself was well written and weaved through the suspense and mystery well. I really enjoyed the fresh plot as some of these ex military can be the same but this was a great twist on this genre. I definitely recommend this story and can’t wait to read the next installment.

House of Valdis Origins: Xenobia (House of Valdis #0) by Naomi Valkyrie is where the story really starts and is the prequel to The Rise of House Valdis book 1. It is a really, really quick read but that doesn’t mean that Naomi has not filled it to the brim with suspense, emotions and everything more. After reading this everything about the first book becomes so much more and gives us an insight we had not seen before. This intense read was easy to get lost in and was over before I knew it. I enjoyed the first book but this one was great, and Naomi is finding her niche and did such a great job of putting it all together.

Shattered is probably one of my favorite books I’ve read in the last few months. I absolutely love when a guy is so crazy over a girl in a book and it is so out of character for them.
This book gave the reader everything they could ever want. There was the the playboy who can have any girl he wants, then there’s initial attraction with someone there shouldn’t be.
I loved the characters and the storyline had me hooked from the very beginning.
Everyone has secrets. Olivia has had a rough time leading up to her arrival in NYC. Her and Gabe meet at an interview for a job where he will essentially be her boss. He has a few secrets that everyone tells him to tell Olivia about but ofcourse he doesn’t. What will happen when the truth comes out. Will she be able to forgive me? Will he even have a chance to tell her why he did what he did? Such a great read. Loved it and cannot wait for more!

A well written story, which has elements of dark fantasy and romance. Valentina is a fighter, who works hard for her living. After the disappearance of her parents, her brother’s drinking habits gets her family into trouble. The man she has given her heart to, leaves her behind to travel the world.
One night, unable to bear her brother’s tantrums, she escapes the house and seeks asylum in a wealthy man’s house. Everything seems to be going well for her there, little does she know that there is magic around the house.
And when a darker force rises in the town, she ventures to stop it.
Nisse, the other protagonist has a soft corner on Valentina and when he finds her missing in the mansion, he sets off in a quest to find her.
In the backdrop, there is a war raging between dwarves and the humans. Will Valentina and Nisse be able to bring back peace between them? This forms the crux of the story.
It is a breezy read with elements of fantasy, magic, suspense and romance. The narration happens in the point of view from multiple characters, which makes the book more interesting.
I really enjoyed this book!

This is a full length novel, and can be read as a standalone. I for one will be looking for book 2. This book is for those 18 and older due to the adult theme. A spectacular start to this Romantic Suspense Series.

This is Cassie and Ian’s story. Cassie is probably the strongest heroine I have ever read about. She is Amazing. She works with the FBI, specializing in stolen art. She really knows her stuff when it comes to protecting herself from her creep of a boss. He is working her last nerve, this could be dangerous. But only time will tell. Ian Chase, Wow he has been smitten but is trying with everything he has not for fall for Cassie. He is professional and puts his job first. But I know he would like to…. Well you will just have to read the book to find out what he really wants to do. He is a strong character in this story. You can’t help but fall in love with him

R.L. Dunn! WOW this book is intense! Starting with the first page. It is a fast read only because you can’t set it down until you have read the last page. R.L. Dunn has the perfect characters for this book. You will either love them or hate them. There is no middle of the road here. There are also no spoilers. You will have to read it to believe it. I just know I want to be like Cassie, and have Ian as a close friend. Well Done R. L. Dunn! I can’t wait to read the next book in this series…

This is the first and only book I’ve read by the author up until last week sometime. The book is a quick read but it’s a beautiful read. Autumn peaked my interest from the first chapter and continued to hold my interest till the last chapter. I loved what she offered herself as a woman and what she offered Liam as a love interest but even better, what they offered one another as they continue through the book getting better acquainted. The whole book has this mystery as we unravel Autumn’s past but it was worth the read as I couldn’t tear myself away. The whole book took my interest and wouldn’t let go. This was a brilliant read! Secure Desire (Chase Security Series Book 1)Secure Desire by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Secure Desire is the opening move of Chase Security Series by R.L. Dunn. It is my first read by this writer and as I was feeling for some action packed romance then I decided to take a chance on the series (I love series as it gives me hope for more great books to come … add to this the family aspect and I am more than willing to take the chance).
Secure Desire gives us plenty of mystery, murder, violence, hidden agendas, clandestine ops, family, friendship, explosive chemistry and so much more! The first brother up is Ian Chase who is an ex-Navy SEAL heading a billion dollar venture capital and private security empire with a global reach. Six years earlier he met briefly a beautiful art historian Cassiopeia Ellis. He remembers her but he ‘let her go’ as at the time she was engaged … now, meeting her again, she is working for the FBI and a free agent (not engaged or married) … Add to this the fact that Cassie remembers meeting Ian but not much else from that night except the intense nightmares that she is haunted by. Their chemistry is explosive but she is a bit hesitant as she does not remember much of that night and is concerned he would not want to have anything to do with her if her secrets come out …
The writer takes us on a mad rollercoaster ride and I suggest you hold on tight to your seat and take notes as there are many characters and who knows how many of them we will encounter when we get to the next book (which I already have downloaded and waiting for me!)! Come along and join the chase and you will not regret the hours you’ll spend with Ian and Cassie and co!

This book is mystery, suspenseful, and action-packed. I am a huge fan of the author’s as the descriptions take hold of you and don’t loosen its grip. You follow Petrovsky in this book that seems like a twisted horror movie. As the detectives lead you down the race to save their captain, your head will be spinning just as much as theirs do in this thriller. The author knows how to string the reader along to seek justice for the victims as much as partners Jackson and Petrovsky. I love how original every book in this series is and as a fan of criminal stories, this one had me hooked from the first chapter. Great and heroic characters with a great balance of action along the way.

Witches, angels, demons and reapers. In this book a reaper decides to take a vacation. Well all hell breaks loose, literally. The story is hilarious and with a twist towards the end, I believe that this book is well worth the read.

Can a chance meeting of people change the outlook of people? In this book, there are three people who meet and it changes their life. In a big city like New York, strangers meet and it was fate. Cynthia Hamilton’s story-line is engaging. I was interested to see three strangers meet together and what fate has in store for them. Her characters are engaging and easy to follow. I feel as if I was right there in the story with them. I found myself having many emotions while reading this story. I highly recommend reading this story but will caution you may want to set enough time to read it in one sitting.
