The Perfect Outcast
By Melissa O. Hansen

This complete novel is great for those wonderfully growing and changing teens, with a wild imagination. This is a fantasy for all ages as well, as I enjoyed this adventure.

Alina is a 17 year old that just wants what all of her classmates have. But her inner teen wants more. She is not pretty, she is not liked and she even has teachers who do not like her. A teen living in a perfect town. No sadness, no death and plenty of happy partiers. Perfect! Just not for Alina. She wants answers, she has many questions, and not even her caregiver will talk to her. So here is where it gets good, sit back and read on.

Melissa Hansen has quite the knowledge of those teens and young adults. Her story will not disappoint. I love her characters for this story. She gave it that realness teens are looking for. While this story is a YA Fantasy. I did enjoy reading it. It holds your interest and keeps you, the reader, wanting more. Take the leap and enjoy this story. I know I did!

Eternal Wanderings: The Continuing Journey of Kara O’Keefe
By Danielle Ackley-McPhail
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Eternal Wanderings: The Continuing Journey of Kara O’Keefe by Danielle Ackley-McPhail. It is a dark fantasy book that pulled me in from the beginning and I was hooked. I grew to care about the character of Kara O’Keefe. She is a young woman who has joined the Romani caravan. She tries to be accepted by the clan. She also is honoring a vow that she made. I found Kara to be a strong, independent, and caring young woman. What will happen when an ancient enemy brings danger to those in the clan? Read this book to find out. The author has done a wonderful job of world-building and it is very helpful that there is a glossary of terms in the book to help better explain some terms. Both the story and the characters come alive on the pages. There are some suspenseful moments as well as emotional ones. Some bonus stories are included. I enjoyed reading them and found them to be both exciting and entertaining. Don’t miss out on a wonderful story that you won’t want to put down until the final page.

The Crocodile Makes No Sound (Lord Hani Mysteries #2)The Crocodile Makes No Sound by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Crocodile Makes No Sound by N. L. Holmes a fascinating four-star read. This is number two in the Lord Hani Investigations and I have read them in order and enjoyed them this way, you could read them as sand-alone, but I would recommend reading them in order as they build and develop the characters and you add depth the more you read. I’m not normally one for a historical story, but this series has gripped me, and the cosy mystery aspect has great and the scene descriptions have been enthralling. The author has a great way of keeping you able to keep everything on track even when there are multiple characters all trying to but in and take part in the story, you can easily keep up. Bring on number three as I am eagerly waiting.

Dare Game (The Irish Garda Files Book 1)
By Melinda Colt
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Dare Game (The Irish Garda Files Book 1) by Melinda Colt. It is a mystery/crime story that has an amazing storyline and characters. One of the characters that I liked is Detective John O’Sullivan. His work at one crime scene expands when other crimes with the same MO are found all over the world. John is a man who when he gets a case, has a fierce determination to find the killer and bring them to justice. All while giving a sense of closure to the victim’s families. John is good at his job and is empathetic when he needs to be. Another wonderful character is Amber Reed. She is a mother who has learned that her teenage daughter has gotten caught up in a world of crime that John is trying to uncover. She is a mother who cares for her daughter and will do anything to keep her safe. Both John and Amber’s characters are well developed, and I found myself caring about them with each chapter that I read. I was rooting for John’s success in finding those who are part of a scheme that involves murder. The storyline is one that kept my interest all the way through. There is not a dull moment. The author has done an amazing job of weaving a tale that I just couldn’t put down until the final page. Don’t miss out on a suspenseful story that will have you reading far into the night. I highly recommend it.

Finding His ZenFinding His Zen by Tammy Mannersly
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a quick read and quick love. We meet Zenia (love that name) who meets her teenage crush. Problem is her sister steps up and claim she is dating the Olympic champion. So do toes get stepped on or does someone relent? I liked Seb. He seemed very down to earth and relatable. His agent however I thought was slimy and mean.

Overall it made me smile. Plus there is that first kiss….so hot! Really first kisses are my favorite to read and this one is pretty good. This is enjoyable.

The Guard: A Soppranaturale Series: Book 2The Guard: A Soppranaturale Series: Book 2 by Ashley Pagano
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is an awesome second book. It’s not too often that a second equals or is better than the first. This is one special book because it does that! It is a continuation of book 1 and tells how things are since winning the Gauntlet. Each of the characters is moved forward personally but they also grow together. I loved seeing each of them and their powers.

Do you like action, romance, paranormals? Yes, Yes, Yes?..Me too! This has all that and more! This is full of wonderful characters. I loved wondering what Ommily and Link would do next, who they would run into and what kind of paranormal they were. Or maybe they were human.

Overall I really loved this! Excellent idea (hotel) for the story. The characters are fun, sassy and annoying. They even made me tear up! I would love to see more of these characters anytime!

I would highly recommend reading The Gauntlet (book 1) before reading this. There are a few overlapping stories as well as the first time Ommily comes to the hotel.

Via Mari was raised in both the United States and United Kingdom and travels extensively. As a child she spent uncountable hours traveling and always enjoyed reading to pass the time, and this pattern has continued in her adult life. In fact, you can still find her curled up in an overstuffed chair when the wood fire is crackling and popping, reading a page-turning novel until the early hours of the morning, especially during the harsh winters of the Midwestern United States, or engrossed in a book as she travels from place to place researching for her own novels or attending conferences.

Via’s inspiration to publish stemmed from research as she began writing love scenes for her own novels. It became apparent there seemed to be a cultural divide between what people believed was normal or vanilla sexual behavior and that which people considered BDSM, and she felt compelled enough to write about the differences, similarities, and extreme feelings and levels of trust individuals in dominant and submissive relationships must have, and the desires that are at the heart of these relationships.

Via has been partnered for a multitude of years with her soulmate and when not writing, enjoys spending time with their family, including an adorable fur-baby, gardening, or walking for exercise in town or around a big city to research her next novel.

True Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #4)True Bastard by India Kells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

True Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #4) by India Kells was a good 4 star read and can be read as a stand alone.

Liam was injured on the job and is still working on bringing his father down, along with his brothers. Knowing that they need some additional help, we meet Catriona. As soon as Liam meets her there are some instant sparks. There is only one problem, Catriona is a nun.

Will she be able to help Liam? Can Liam stay away from Catriona and keep it professional?

These two have similar childhoods, Catriona was an orphan raised by nuns and Liam was raised by his uncle. There is so much going on, you are on the edge of your seat. The author does a great job with her writing. We get suspense, danger, romance and so much more.

Overall this was a great read. All of the characters added a great element to the story. If you’re looking for a great read that pulls you in, 1-click and get started today. I will warn that there is a scene that could be a trigger for some. I look forward to reading more from this series and author.

Murder mystery meets ancient Egypt again in this second novel in the Lord Hani series by Holmes. I love the level of detail she provides in these novels and ate up every word. I will immediately start by saying for me I’m not sure I would have connected to the story without having first read the previous book in the series. That said, this book was an easy read. The storyline in general was very emotional, maybe more than I anticipated. You anticipate explicit scenes to be part of this book just from the synopsis. However, that aside, the emotional struggle was what really connected. A quick and easy read that definitely was set up to continue in a third book.

This is the second story in the Lord Hani Mysteries by N.L. Holmes. The story has historical fiction, mysteries, and cozy mysteries. I found myself turning the pages quicker than the previous one. The story had some elements for only a certain character. This was well written so that I did not get confused but it enhanced the storylines. The characters were fully developed and true to the time period for what it was written in. The attention to detail in not only the storyline but in the character details as well. If you love history and mysteries, you will enjoy this story as well. I highly recommend reading the first book as well to get the full enjoyment of the Lord Hani series.

This is a book I enjoyed reading. This was a fast paced story full of action, danger, romance, and wonderful characters. This book can be read as a standalone but I think you should read them all because I have and I think they are all great reads. The author kept me captivated with the twists and turns and attention to detail. I liked how the relationship progressed between Loyda and Big Al. Will they be able to find out who is behind the mass disappearances? I very much enjoy this author’s writing style. I recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this much more than I expected. The story is wonderful and hits all the right spots. The characters are larger than life. I had a love/dislike relationship with them over the course of the book. Loyda causes a lot of problems for Alexander and his crew always pushing forward.

I love listening to Alexander’s thoughts pertaining to Loyda. He is very wiley in how he goes about getting her. He also has a happy go lucky attitude. He seems cool calm and collected but underneath his wheels are spinning. Looking for other avenues. This is one guy to keep an eye on.

I loved the nod to the other book in the series. I hoped because Big Al is the brother of Toni we would see them. Wish granted!

Overall an excellent story. This author is able to weave characters that I come to care about. I can’t wait for more from her.

I was anxious to read the story as we saw just a little bit of these characters in Gabe’s book. Sadly, I really struggled with the connection between these three characters. It was hard to *feel* that they really felt anything for each other besides sexual attraction. I wish maybe we could’ve had some snippets of them growing up together so you could see that they had more than just a sexual connection with each other.

The story definitely got better once we were past the second half. There was some action going on and other stuff happening which was nice to read. Sorry people, but I just got tired of any time that two or three of these characters were in a space together it immediately went to sex every single time. More character building would make this a more palatable book in my opinion. The author did a good job with Hunters character and his issues.

This is a great family and I did enjoy Gabe’s book. I can easily feel the affection that the family has with each other. The remaining siblings could be great books in the future. I look forward to reading more about this Rhodes family.

That Incredible Kiss by Tamara Ferguson is the third book in the Kissed by Fate series. This is a brilliant example of a well written, romantic story that has everything in it you could want. The author has done an amazing job of leading you to believe you know what the story is going to be about only to surprise you as you get further into the story.
I loved the relationship between Ashley and Brian as well. It was so sweet to watch it developed throughout the story and I couldn’t help but get behind them. I found that I read this book pretty quickly because I became so immersed in it I completely lost track of time and ended up reading it all in one sitting.
This is a great addition to the series and another book by this author that I have thoroughly enjoyed.

This book is one steamy and emotional read! I was so ready for book two of the Rhodes Family series from Lisa Wood as soon as I finished Shattered, book one. I personally would recommend that you read the first book before jumping into this one because it really sets you up and gives you the background of these amazing characters. The emotional side of this read really tugs at the heartstrings as you wait in anticipation for the next steamy scene, and this book has plenty of those to keep the reader fanning themselves most of the time. I love how it is written in a way that is believable and not overstretched or exaggerated, something I struggle with when reading about throuples because I personally live in one myself. You can tell the author has respect for the lifestyle and that makes a huge difference for me as a reader. I cannot wait to see what will come next for the Rhodes family, I am sure it will be one I cannot put down either!

Rock Star on the Verge (Rogue Series Book 9) by Lara Ward Cosio – Review by Kerry Baker

Rock Star on the Verge (Rogue Series #9)Rock Star on the Verge by Lara Ward Cosio
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rock Star on the Verge by Lara Ward Cosio is the 9th book in the Rogue series. This book can be read as a standalone book and is a fantastic addition to the series. These characters all feel so familiar now that picking up a new one of these books is so easy. It takes absolutely no thinking about to become a part of their story once again.
I love the whole coming of age theme that ran through this book, especially considering it was done from two different types of people – one of whom was “coming of age” in a completely different want to what you would usually think of. I thought the journey that both Conor and Donal go on was a powerful one that you couldn’t help but connect with.
This author always does such a great job of creating lasting and in depth stories and this book is just another example of that. From the moment I picked it up I enjoyed it and it was one of those books that I had to finish all in one go. A brilliant book and an amazing series.

Rose of Anzio – Moonlight (Volume 1): a WWII Epic Love Story by Alexa Kang – Review by Liz Vrchota

Moonlight (Rose of Anzio, #1)Moonlight by Alexa Kang
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I won’t lie this is not normally my genre, historical romance, but once I saw it was a WWII era read I knew I would love it. I really have a penchant for this historical time period in our world and all these different angles and aspects of it. I will say this was quite a unique point of view and I enjoyed that departure from the typical story told around this time. Alexa Kang was also a new author to me so I am delighted that now I have a new author to discover more after having finished this one.

Rose of Anzio – Moonlight is the first book in the Rose of Anzio series by Alexa Kang. This is definitely one of those reads that appears to set us up for the rest of the series. It is more informational and really makes the reader fall in love with Tessa Graham, our main character. We find her as she is moved to Chicago out of fear for her safety in England during the war. There she must learn an entirely new way of life and find her role amongst the people she is surrounded by. The story shows a really good span of things that a girl could experience as she comes of age in a trying and scary time for the world. I very much cannot wait to see how her story progresses with the next book in the series.

Wild Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel Book 3) by India Kells – Review by Naomi McDonald

Wild BastardWild Bastard by India Kells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wild Bastard is a great second chance romance with a kick. Isabel is a strong, smart, self-made woman. I loved her character. Getting to know Kai was interesting, but I will say that of the brothers so far, I connected with Kai’s backstory the least – which is odd because I usually connect to military characters pretty strongly. It might be because we didn’t really get to see how his past affects him to the extent that we see it with Archer and Aleksei. It’s mentioned a couple of times, but we don’t see the intense emotional toll so it feels superficial.
One thing I loved about the story is that Isabel chose to hang onto a piece of her past and used it strategically. Her relationship with her mother regarding that piece is awesome.
Overall, this is an amazing, intense story that will grab a hold of you and won’t let go.

Melissa O. Hansen has really written a lovely novel here. I was not sure what to expect since I hadn’t read anything by her previously, but this book was one I look forward to visiting again and sharing with my teenage daughter as well. This book has not only a wonderful storyline with fab characters, it has some really good points to be seen and made about people and personal growth. We are not all perfect or if we are we are perfect in our own ways and for different reasons. I felt like that was such a strong point throughout but it didn’t read lecture like or difficult it had the perfect flow to engage the reader and teach. This book brings us the story of Alina, a young woman stuck in the middle of a confusing time and world. She will get in your head and make you think as you enjoy the magic of her story. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!

I loved the reappearance of the two neighbor characters. The odd pairing adds a little comic relief when they bicker with each other. The complexity of Archer’s character is excellent. The fight scene in the club shows his demons a bit. Cold Bastard is an excellent reading adventure. It’ll keep you turning the pages.

I have been such a fan of the Rogue Series by Lara Ward Cosio from the very beginning, and this one just took first place as my favorite. Rock Star on the Verge is such a beautiful and well written story with so much emotion and deep heartfelt scenes that you can’t hardly put it down from page one until the very end.

I was so ready for Conor Quinn’s story after meeting him in an early installment in the series and so this was one I was connected to before I even picked up the book. This is truly a journey you will take, a road trip to beautiful places, as Conor travels on motorcycle with the Rogue groups bassist. Together they help Conor find his love and his story that he wants to tell with his music. The added layer of romance with Conor’s wife was a sweet and refreshing spin on the romance factor. I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end and I am so excited to see what we will get next from Lara Ward Cosio!

True Bastard is the fourth book in the Dark Sparrow series You could probably read this as a standalone, but you’ll enjoy it more with the backstory from the other books in the series.

I have to say, I relate to the opening in chapter one where Liam feels like meeting Catriona is a cosmic joke. I have felt that way many times in my life. Things seem to line up perfectly, and then the universe lowers the boom. I felt for the guy, lol.

This story is everything you would expect from this author – great chemistry between the characters, adventure, angst, and romance. Once you start reading, you’ll stay up all night just to finish it!
