Deadly Weapon (Jake Wolfe Book 5)
by Mark Nolan

What a great read!! I have been enjoying this series from the beginning. I love reading about the adventure that Jake and Cody find themselves on. This book is full of action, danger, suspense, twists and turns and so much more. I was happy to see that characters from the other books were brought to this one. It’s always a pleasure to read the pages that have Cody talking. I found myself on the edge of my seat throughout most of this book. The author is an exceptional writer that keeps me entertained and I find it impossible to put the book down until I finish it. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hero High:: Heartbreak Rebellion (Hero High Collections Book 2) by Mina Chara. I’m a sucker for box sets it’s just a great way to one be introduced to new authors and two have the books back to back. This series has completely pulled me in from the very beginning. The characters are complex and relatable, the storyline smooth and engaging. The author does a wonderful job of writing even the smallest of details out enough that the story comes alive for the readers. Each book takes you on an adventure you won’t be forgetting anytime soon. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. The characters are complex and pull you into their story world and you’ll have fun getting lost in the pages for a while. Four stars and highly recommended.

Until he finds himself on the ropes (literally) at a company retreat and the only person who can bring him in for a safe landing is his office frenemy, who seems as comfortable in a climbing harness as he used to be in an F-18.

At twenty-eight, Erin Hung was still living with her parents in Honolulu, so when her favorite cousin invited her to move to glittering Los Angeles, she made the leap. After four years, this late bloomer has blossomed. She owns her own condo in gorgeous Pasadena, has the love of a good male—her Shiba Inu, Atticus—and is the badass marketing manager for America’s #1 radio show. But she still has a lot to prove and is gunning for a promotion. She doesn’t have time for distractions, especially romantic ones…and there’s no way she’s interested in that cocky ex-fighter pilot who just got tapped as host. Unfortunately, working with Mr. Cockpit Cockypants is the only way to get her raise.

When work forces them together, it seems like the beginning of a new Cold War, or maybe Clint’s high-flying charm is just what Erin needs to see there’s more to life than just work.

Secure Again (Chase Security Series #2) by R.L. Dunn – Review by Rosanna Ingram

Secure Again (Chase Security Series Book 2)Secure Again by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow…there is a lot going on in this book and it is an amazing ride. While this book may be intimidating due to the amount of pages, I found myself flipping through them so fast and I arrived at the end of the story before I knew it. I was so engrossed in the story that I completely tuned out the world around me.

Martin, the CEO of Chase Security, is called home when his brother ends up in the hospital. Elizabeth is the doctor treating Martin’s brother. The two share a heartbroken past that they must face when they see each other again. This is not your typical second-chance romance, though. First, R.L. Dunn makes them work hard to move beyond the past and even have a chance at a future. Oh…and there’s the web of prisoner abuse and other crimes that they must unravel along the way.

This book was fast paced and action packed. I read it from cover to cover in one evening because I couldn’t put it down (I had to know how it was going to end!). There were twists and turns along the way which kept me fully invested until the end. I enjoyed the first book…but I loved this book! This series is amazing and I can’t wait to see what R.L. Dunn has in store next!

I love this second installment from the Chase Security series. I loved the non stop action that kept me on the edge of my seat. R.L Dunn is quite the storyteller and was able to tell so many sides of a story and I never got lost once. Dr. Elizabeth Reed is one of those strong female characters that you can’t help but love and Martin Bailey who will stop at nothing to bring to justice the person who has hurt the woman who has stomped on his heart and maybe win her?!?

I love this book and this author! I cannot wait for more!

I love picking up books and just knowing in your gut you are going to love every page. And this one definitely did that for me. I found myself anticipating what might happen, guessing how it would all unfold, and LOVING reading how the story proceeded. The main characters – fantastic, hilarious, real. I found myself laughing out loud quite a bit at the all too real scenarios in each chapter. I thoroughly enjoyed this romcom and will gladly pick it back up for another read very soon.

Wow I really enjoyed book 5 the Deadly weapon than the other books in this series. I have always liked Jake and Cody and how resilient they can be in minutes. These characters are amazing and the plot is intense.

Secure Again is the second book in R.L. Dunn’s Chase Security Series. Just like the first book in this series you are hooked from the first page and the authors words keep you hypnotized until the last page, even then you want to just jump to the next book to keep reading. This book is filled with action, romance, and mystery. You follow the characters Dr. Elizabeth Reed who is a trauma surgeon and Martin Bailey who is a former Navy SEAL but now the CEO of Chase Security International. These two have a past but is the love they once had still there? Will she get to the bottom of the issues at the prison? The author did an amazing job writing the storyline and book altogether. I cant wait to read Book 3 in this series.

As a nurse and a fan of the spirit world, I couldn’t download Kate MacInnis’ book Distant Heart Sounds fast enough. Kate MacInnis kicked off her Nurse Morgan series with a fantastic, fun read. While the book had a lot going on, the storyline never once felt forced or overwhelming. I enjoyed the book from start to finish and truly loved nurse Morgan. Devil's Claw: Logan Book 3 (The Logan McKenna Series)Devil’s Claw: Logan Book 3 by Valerie Davisson

Devil’s Claw is the third book in Valerie Davisson’s Logan McKenna series as well as the third book I’ve raad by this author. I’ve said it before but I will repeat myself again, I truly enjoy Logan as a strong female lead and this time around I enjoyed the inclusion of her daughter as well. While any of these books can be read as stand alone reads, I recommend reading in order. Not only does this allow for more character depth, the books really are worth it.
Valerie Davisson has a way of bringing real life issues to light while delivering a story that is filled with enough action and intrigue to keep you turning from first page to last. I truly look forward to more from this author… and more Logan McKenna. 4 out of 5 stars for sure!

DEADLY WEAPON (Jake Wolfe Book 5) by Mark Nolan – Review by Jana Teppih

Deadly Weapon (Jake Wolfe #5)Deadly Weapon by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Deadly Weapon is the fifth book in Mark Nolan’s Jake Wolfe series and Jake and Cody are back to save the world! They are in Alaska for some hard earned time out, fishing salmon and taking in the awesomeness that is Alaska. Jake has turned off the rest of the world so it is just him, Cody and his friend Tuktu … but obviously, like always, something goes wrong and their services are needed … this time to stop rouge operatives who are working on a weapon of mass destruction. You can read the story as a standalone as the writer gives us a story in its own rights in each of the books but as there are characters that you meet from story to story and you will want to be part of the journey that Jake and Cody are on then I suggest you start from the beginning … I promise you will fall in love with both Jake and Cody and even if you are not so fond of dogs, you dream of having a dog like Cody so in this story I am really excited about Cody’s puppies!
The story pulls you in from chapter 1 and you are thrown up in the air on a halo that takes you on one heck of a ride filled with action and danger and assassins while dodging hidden agendas and explosions … I love how the writer utilises the multiple POV’s as it helps us to go even deeper into the storyline, the extensive research he does for each of his Jake Wolfe books is mind blowing so that means every story I read I constantly keep pinching myself and I find myself wondering what if … Thank you for these tense suspense filled hours and I cannot wait to see what is next in store for Jake and Cody (and Sarah and Skye)!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is not my first book by India Kells but I would have to say that this is one of my favorites. India Kells puts a lot of heart and soul into her characters. They are fully developed and have unique qualities. She gives them such personable personalities. Take Liam, he is a cop and he wants to make his father pay for wrongdoings. Now there is only one who can help him and that is Sister Catriona. You read that right Sister Catriona, as in a nun title. Sister Catrionais great at numbers and he feels like she can help him. Then something happens that changes Liam’s feelings for Sister Catriona. You will have to read the book to see what happens.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you are looking to read a fun exciting short read, look no further this book is for you. In everything that is going on around us in the world, we need to find something to get lost in for a while. The story is a simple plot line. What makes this story great is the characters. The characters are adorable. Morgan is a nurse who does not believe in paranormal anything until she had a near-death experience. That opened her eyes to a lot of things. While she was skeptical at the beginning, she finally learns that she needs to be open to different things. She realizes that she in fact has feelings for a special doctor. This book has a little bit of everything, romance, humor, and mystery. I highly recommend this story as it will be a short fast read.

DEADLY WEAPON (Jake Wolfe Book 5) by Mark Nolan – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Deadly Weapon (Jake Wolfe #5)Deadly Weapon by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Deadly Weapon is the fifth action-packed adventure in Mark Nolan’s Jake Wolfe series. Jake is a former marine who can’t seem to sit still (or in this case, fish in peace) without getting roped into some top secret, high stakes mission. His service dog, Cody, is also a former marine and his training makes him an indispensable part of the team.
The plot of Deadly Weapon centres around a biological weapon involving a deadly and highly contagious virus. So if you’re looking for a book that will take your mind off COVID-19, this ain’t it. But it’s a good story and for me being very aware of the damage a virus like that can do and how slow the process is to find a vaccine enhanced the tension and urgency of the story.
I really like Cody, the dog. He’s very characterful and loveable! I particularly like the scenes that are from Cody’s point of view (the whole story uses third person over-the-shoulder narration, moving occasionally between different perspectives). From Cody’s perspective, we encounter the world primarily through scent and are reminded of his loyalty and drive to carry out his orders.
In Deadly Weapon, we get to visit some great places including Alaska and Hawaii. In amongst the action, it’s lovely to get a sense of different scenery (and food!).
For me, this is a five star book. I’d recommend this to dog people who enjoy fast-paced action! If you’re particularly after a virus-themed story this works fine as a standalone, but it’s an enjoyable series so why not check out the other books as well!

Rose of Anzio – Moonlight (Volume 1): a WWII Epic Love Story by Alexa Kang is a gripping and effortless tale of two people trying to make sense out of their chaotic world. I found this book to be highly detailed and so well written that I was instantly hooked by it.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I have to say I loved every bit of it. I always do enjoy a well written war story and this has to be one of the best that I have read. I really felt like you connected the characters and felt their experiences with them.
The author has done an amazing job of portraying what it must have been like during war time America and exploring the emotions that must have been felt at the time. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book and I am so excited to read the next in the series!

Distant Heart Sounds (A Nurse Morgan Series #1) by Kate MacInnis

This is the first book by the author that I’ve read, but I will be on the lookout for others. MacInnes has done a phenomenal job with this.

Morgan, a nurse, is now able to see things she hasn’t been able to before. Thanks to a near-death experience she knows she has roommates. The quote I chose for Morgan is: “No, it’s actually good logic. Who’s to say? Maybe I need to do more research.”

Caleb, a new doctor in town, meets a fantastic nurse. He invites her out after having a chat with her. They have something in common. They can see auras. The quote I chose for Caleb is: “You won’t believe this, but it’s almost 5:30 p.m. Would you like to go to a local place and have an early dinner? We’ve eaten so much junk today, I genuinely need some solid food to balance all the bad. How does that sound?”

Highly recommended for paranormal romance lovers.

Remember My Name (Remember My Name Series Book 1) by Laurencia Hoffman – Review by Kerry Carr

Remember My NameRemember My Name by Laurencia Hoffman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow this was a story I wasn’t expecting but I really enjoyed. It was an emotional roller coaster.

Shane has suffered in his life, from abuse at the hands of his father to the heartbreak of his first love and other losses and heartbreak in between. All this has turned Shane into a cold, hard person who is happier pushing people away than confiding in them.

When he bumps into his first love Callen again they want to rekindle their failed relationship but with Shane holding so many secrets and being so hard to get close to will Callen be able to break down his walls and boundaries or will the constant coldness end up pushing Callen away for good.

Its a strong emotional story and shows that secrets and heartbreak can cause a person to change. It also shows that sometimes keeping secrets isn’t the right way to deal with things.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed the second book in the Soppranaturale Series by Ashley Pagano. I don’t usually read this particular genre but I really liked book 1 and the authors writing I felt was really engaging and enjoyable to read. Again I was quickly absorbed into what I was reading; the author’s descriptive language makes for great world building. The characters are very creative and I liked reading about them. I enjoyed following Link and Ommily again in this story, they definitely had some obstacles to face this time – I loved reading about them! The story does have quite a few layers to it which made it more exciting to read, I found myself easily lost in what I was reading!
I think this book definitely needs to be read after book 1 to fully understand everything going on. I definitely recommend this series!!

I was not aware this was the fourth book until i picked it up, but it was still great nonetheless! I have never been a big fan of sci-fi adventures but i absolutely gobbled this one up in one sitting! Michelle Diener weaves a fast paced tale with all sorts of emotional rollar coasters with everything from betrayal, to adventure, all just all around drama! I certainly loved this book, and I will definitely go back to read the first three and i recommend you do too! I can not wait to see more from this author!

Distant Heart Sounds (Nurse Morgan Series Book 1) by Kate MacInnis – Review by Tehreem Tahir

Distant Heart SoundsDistant Heart Sounds by Kate MacInnis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is about a woman called Morgan who gains an odd ability to see ghosts after she undergoes a brain surgery.

I really enjoyed this book! It was really realistic and the majority of Morgan’s responses were how an ordinary person would react with ghosts and other traumatic things occurring, which I really appreciated! I really liked the writing style and I loved Savannah, the best friend, as well as the other people who worked at the hospital she worked at.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to read something paranormal but doesn’t want to be scared! It’s not a horror or thriller so it’s more accessible, in my opinion, to a wide variety of readers. The last chapter was slightly rushed, in my opinion, and although I was satisfied with the ending, I did want more. Although, it is the first in a series so maybe that’s why it stops where it does.

I think it’s fair to say I don’t even bother reading the synopsis for the books now by Ms Ferguson, I just grab it and settle down for what I know is going to be a wonderful read and as expected this was just that. I love how even after so many great stories everyone feels so new, nothing is repeated, no storyline is the same and every character is unique but they are always likeable and relatable.
Ashley and Brian’s story was heart-warming to read, a perfect second chance romance. When they reunited after some time apart I could just tell that they were prefect for each other, their connection was sweet and genuine. I was definitely lost in their story and was rooting for them the whole way through.
As always I highly recommend this and any book by this author, I am never disappointed by her writing and would definitely urge people who haven’t picked up on of her many books to do so!!

Rock Star on the Verge (Rogue Series Book 9) by Lara Ward Cosio – Review by Katie Matthews

Rock Star on the Verge (Rogue Series #9)Rock Star on the Verge by Lara Ward Cosio
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was so excited to see a new release from this author and addition to this fantastic series, I have loved every single book, the whole series has been an emotional rollercoaster and I love the second generation coming through now with their own stories.
I loved this book, reading about Conor again was just amazing – I loved him from the start and still do now and reading about him alongside Donal and their journey was brilliant. I was hooked from beginning to end; Lara Ward Cosio puts so much into her writing, the detail, and the explanations everything. I loved the connection that Conor and Donal had both at a junction in their lives – it was great to see them coming together to help each other out.
I am gutted that this this final book in the series but all good things must come to an end and I think she has definitely outdone herself with this conclusion. I honestly recommend this story and series so much – I have loved it from beginning to end!

Secure Heart (Chase Security Series #3) by R.L. Dunn – Review by Laura Furuta

Secure Heart (Chase Security Series Book 3)Secure Heart by R.L. Dunn

Secure Heart (Chase Security Series #3)
By R.L. Dunn
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Secure Heart (Chase Security Series #3) by R.L. Dunn. It is a story that once I started, I was hooked. I love the characters of Julian “Smooth” Dupart and Holly Dupree Morrison. Julian is a man who has taken the helm at Chase Securities branch in San Diego. He has discovered problems that include substandard care of patients. He is a man who works hard and because of the past doesn’t easily let anyone into his heart. Then he meets Holly. Holly is an amazing singer whose whole life revolves around her music and her daughter, Sadie. She has found herself in need of a security team. She then meets Julian. Both Julian and Holly find themselves in the path of danger. Will those who wish them harm be caught? Will Julian let Holly and Sadie into his heart? Read this book to find out. I love that Holly is a strong and independent woman. She also realizes when she needs help and finds herself putting more and more trust in Julian. I grew to care about Julian, Holly, and Sadie with each chapter that I read. I wanted them to find happiness. This story had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. There are also romantic moments. The author does an amazing job of writing a story with characters that come alive and that you can root for their success. Don’t miss out on this wonderful book. You won’t be able to put it down.

Rescued by Valan (The Pirates of Barra: Highland Raiders) by Jennifer Siddoway – Review by Carrie Reed

Rescued by Valan (The Pirates of Barra: Highland Raiders, #2)Rescued by Valan by Jennifer Siddoway
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 stars!

Such a fun read. I really enjoyed this story and the period that was portrayed. The characters were all really nicely written and the storyline flowed nicely, I was never bored and couldn’t stop reading. I always feel sad for characters that have arranged marriages, some cases it works out nicely, but in Bridget’s case it did not. I was devastated for her when her ship was seized by pirates and they killed off the entire crew except her, and then she gets rescued by the wonderful Valan. You can tell throughout the story that there is real chemistry between Valan and Bridget. Bridget is so sweet to fall in love with Valan only to leave him to fulfill her promise to her clan to marry the laird Rodrick. I liked the the evil that was placed in this story in the form of the greedy Rodrick. Fighting through some trials together, find out if Bridget and Valan can truly be together. The ending was sweet, steamy, and surprising. This is my first book by this author and after reading this one, I can’t wait to see what else Mrs. Siddoway has to offer.
