In this book you can read as a standalone. This book leaves off on a big cliffhanger. This was easy to follow and understand. There were a couple of things wrong with the book. Such as things you don’t understand when explained or a reason for another character to do something just for the story to progress and move along. This book was good overall.

Destiny’s Daughter (Intimate and Unfiltered Memoirs) by Lynda Filler
This is the first book I’ve read by the author. This is a Memoir which means it’s about the author about the author. So I was very happy to see it from an actual person’s point of view.
Lynda sounds like a fun person to be around. Even if she reminds me of my grandmother. Something I haven’t felt in a long time. I got to enjoy life from an elders point although I can’t really see Lynda being as old as she is. I couldn’t choose a quote for her, but everything in this book is quote worthy.
Highly recommended for Inspirational Memoir lovers.
This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Unearthly Magik was a fantastic read. I really hope there is more as it left a little off on a cliffhanger. The author has gained a new fan within me.
Ava is contacted to get an important item. She goes on a search with her team for the item and it leads to several others. Each more dangerous than the last. Ava is getting beat each time. The quote I chose for Ava is: “You can tell him yourself. See this? You can’t escape, so don’t try. You can’t injure me, so don’t try unless you really want to piss me off. And if you give me any trouble, I swear I’ll break your legs and drag you around like a puppet and smile the entire time.”
Book 2 takes us further into the series and is just as amazing as book 1. We get a closer look at the academy. McKayla is a force this time around and with her fellow students they are in for some games that make a break for the academy. Action, magic, and soo much of the unexpected this time around. I loved every chapter this book helps and could not get enough of the journey within it!

This was my first read by this author & I was not disappointed! At first, I was concerned that it was going to be more along the lines of a tween/teenager read but I soon discovered I was wrong. I quickly found myself relating to Greer as a senior having to transition from a public school to a more exclusive “private” school. At first, as the reader, you find yourself feeling more and more sympathetic for Greer and her situation whilst developing a distaste for her soon-to-stepbrother Beckett. Don’t let this deter you! As the story develops, you begin to understand more about Beckett and his thought process per say. It is a mature read and definitely worth it for anyone who enjoys a well written contemporary romance.

Break the Darkness is a fast paced YA/Fantasy that once you start reading there’s no putting it down until you’ve finished. I’ve read other books by this author and her style of writing and attention to detail bring the story to live along with fully developed characters that make you feel as if you are right there with them. I truly enjoyed reading this book. Rei is nosy and has been told it will get her into trouble which it didn’t until she met Megan. Rei was super excited to be working for the school newspaper and never dreamed she’d be using investigative skills. Things aren’t always as they seem. What will happen when she realizes her family may be in danger? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading many more books by this author.

After much anticipation when this wonderful second installment hit my Kindle I had to stop what I was doing and read it immediately. This book was filled with amazing characters, a great plot, and enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat. Personally I would recommend reading the first installment just to get familiar with all of the characters and the back story, but trust me when I say that book two is just as good as the first. Personally I can’t wait to dig into book three and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Loved book 1 and book 2 did not disappoint! Ellie is a wonderful character and I adore her quirky ways. Book 2 we see as she hosts a cat show for her rescues and of course no show is complete without a murder a foot! I had my favorite blanket and my thinking cap to try and solve this feline mystery! Ellie and Detective Simon make a great team and the mystery was a great whodunit!

Reader’s Thoughts: This was my first time reading a novel written by T. Christensen and WOW, this one did not disappoint me. I sat down and read this in one afternoon. No matter how much I needed to get done, I just couldn’t put this one down. The characters were relatable in so many ways. The storyline was realistic portraying the “mean girls” as what I truly believe mean girls look like in today’s society. In the beginning I wanted to slap some sense into Beckett, he was such a jerk! Then I found myself silently yelling at Greer for allowing Beckett to act the way he did. I found Greer’s enthusiasm for her mother’s happiness touching. For a young teenage girl to be so concerned about her mother’s happiness made my heart sing. And David, he instantly won me over. His threats to Beckett made me shout out loud. I can’t wait to read more from this author. I would love to see novels written around the stories of the side characters: Lexi and Pepper and there stunning football stars.

This book picks up when the new school year starts and Makayla is heading back to Grave Digger Academy! You definitely need to read the first book in the series to be able to follow the storyline. I’m a huge fan of this author and really enjoy her easy writing style. She always jumps right in to the story and grabs your attention right from the start. I love Makayla’s character and headmistress Meet. There are some unexpected plot twist that will keep you on your toes for sure! I really can’t wait to read book 3 to see where the author takes us on Makayla’s journey!

I will be honest. I really debated on picking up this novel due to it’s length. Typically, I try to read novels between 200-400 pages long, max, as usually they aren’t over done in the way of the tales woven, or the descriptiveness being overboard. I am very glad that I did pick this adventure up, and thoroughly enjoyed the historical dystopian feel that the author wove within it’s pages. It did take me a little while to really get into this story at the beginning, but once the ball got rolling, wow did it ever roll!
You can’t help but root for Leora, Roland, Aurora, and Leopold, this unlikely group come together to share their strength, beliefs, friendship, and wanton to get through what is to come. I absolutely love when folks of different classes come together to make things beautiful together, and this novel really did pull that one out of the hat. What a wonderful start to a very thorough series, not to mention intriguing. I cannot wait to follow this group into the next installment. You won’t be disappointed to put the time into this read!

Grave Digger Academy II by C. A. King is book two in the Grave Digger Academy series. It is time for Makayla to join her class for her second year. With all the happenings of last year, and the professor still out there, Makayla needs to be on her best behavior. The headmistress has agreed to allow her to speak to her friends under the guise that she and they participate in the inter-academy games. This forces them to learn to work together and put all their differences aside. Although they feel as thought that’s haven’t truly learned magic, that focus on their individual strengths and learn more about themselves. Unfortunately, something or someone stands in their way and the bad things tend to follow Makayla. Will her helpers be able to actually help? Will her friends bother to rescue her? All questions answered thankfully! I have to say I’m quite enjoying the fast paced storytelling. It’s fun and easy to read and makes for a quick dive into the paranormal.

I enjoyed getting to read the second book in this series and I am looking forward to reading the third book as well. I thought it did a great job in uncovering some of the mysteries that book 1 set up, while still leaving some mysteries for the third book to hopefully answer! At times, it did feel a bit rushed in parts, but I definitely enjoyed branching out to the other schools and meeting some other students as well. As always Makayla is a fantastic heroine, she is hard-working, but isn’t afraid to ask for help when she needs it, and has a ton of sass and attitude along with it. I loved her newest helper and thought character was extremely adorable and fit right in with her other two helpers. If you are a fan of paranormal YA books, this is definitely a series you don’t want to miss!

Grave Digger Academy II is the second book in the Grave Digger Academy series. Makayla and her classmates have returned to school and are in for a challenging year. There is competition between the academies and the Grave Digger Academy students are the underdogs. I enjoyed the further escapades of Makayla and the gang. They are learning more about their capabilities and growing into them. I also liked that there were interactions with students outside of their school. The teachers are enjoyable as well, and got a bit more time in this book. I enjoyed this book even more than the first and can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Huntress is a raw MC thriller and a great read. It is the second book in the OUTLAW series. This is one ride you do not want to miss. LAB SPILL book 2 in the unique and sarcastic series THE COOL TH ING SERIES. I love black humour and that is what Robert Rife is all about. I love the crazy unpredictable writing that is totally mayhem and madness. Robert makes no apologies which makes it all the better as you are sitting there laughing and gasping for air whilst simultaneously cringing on the inside maybe just a little.
It is satirical horror, sci fi, suspense and all that at its finest. I am wondering why it took this long to discover this little gem called Robert Rife. Anywho carryon! Make sure you grab a copy and prepared to be taken on a zany ride into the unknown. I was completely intrigued and enthralled and hoping there is another book I can get my hands on.
If you love a fast-paced and totally uncouth tale then this black humour read is for you.

I don’t even know where to begin with this book! This was the perfect book for me since I have always been obsessed with element bending stories such as Fate: The Winx Saga and Avatar: The Last Airbender. This was the perfect adult version of those two stories, the chemistry between the characters was almost as good as the story itself!
A fantastic paranormal romance, I highly suggest that everyone who loves fantasy read this book. The characters of Levi and Brooke are expertly written, I love watching both of the characters grow as the story continues. I can’t wait to see what comes next in the series!

This book is the follow up to the first in the Cool Thing series and it is just as add and different and strangely captivating as the first book. This is nothing like anything I had ever read before. It is strange and fun, mysterious and intriguing. It is one of those books that I couldn’t look away from once I started. This isn’t a book I would usually read but, having read the first, I knew I just had to see what the author would do next. This is an odd but great book that I thoroughly enjoyed.

This is a great second chance romance that is fun and entertaining to read. This is the kind of book that is perfect for those lazy afternoons designed specifically for reading books. The story was good, although a little slow paced at times, and I enjoyed getting to know the characters. The book is light-hearted and fun, with just enough mystery in to keep things interesting. This is a new author to me and I enjoyed experiencing the writing style. I connected with the characters and though that overall this aw as great book. I had seen someone post on social media about how people are so interested in wild plots that they’ll settle on subpar writing. I wish I remembered the person that stated that because I would hand her a copy of River Witch. The writing in this book was so rich with descriptive language and a strong vocabulary. I felt the imagery was vivid and honestly consider this book a literary work of art. This author is fairly new to me, as is the idea of historical fantasy but as I said above the writing was so beautifully crafted I was sucked in immediately. The characters had depth and I loved that the story followed Hester through time. I am trying to keep my review vague and full of spoilers but this was the perfect reading material as I shift from my summer reading list and into thoughts of fall and “witchery.”

Kate McWilliams brings to life the story of Ellie and Raf. Ellie is living her dream, running her jewelry shop in a quiet town. Raf has a past, which he keeps hidden from his friends. I did not realize when I read it that it was part of a series, but it was written so well, that it didn’t matter that I hadn’t read the others. Jake is the first book in the Billionaire Blind Dates Series. This was my first time reading any of this author’s work and it certainly won’t be the last. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the others in this series. This book takes blind dates to a whole new level. First you fill out a huge questionnaire on the app, then you get to meet your match in a blind date – at the blind date restaurant, totally in the dark! Yep, you share a meal with the person but you can’t actually see them. Jake and his 4 billionaire friends decide that this is the way that each of them should try to find their significant other, each will pick dates for the others and it’s Jake’s turn to go first. I really loved Jake and Lauren’s story. They already know each other as Lauren is the PA of one of the 5 guys – Cade. They have no idea of this though and totally hit it off. It’s very much an opposites attract story. Jake is a billionaire who is tired of women who only want him for his money. Lauren is living paycheck to paycheck and is worried that Jake will think she’s after his money but it makes no difference to her at all. She’d still like him if he was penniless. I really enjoyed the camaraderie between the 5 billionaires and can’t wait to see what the author has in store for the other 4 guys.

King</a><br/> My rating: <a href=”https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4996628246″>4 of 5 stars</a><br /><br /> This is a new author to me, and I admit it took me a couple of days to get into the story (maybe due to timing more than anything else) but once I got to grips with the reasoning behind Makaylas dislike with being sent to Grave Digger Academy instead of one of the other better thought of academies in the paranormal academy system, I fell hard into the story. There is a distinct building of character and plot which holds you in their world.<br />Makayla is a seventh born to a witch family, this in itself is a thing of myth, as well as being the only girl this continues to follow the myth. First years of school are not allowed access to areas or town, they have not been taught the art of the Grave Digger, but Makayla and her counterparts (as friends is a too strong description) are determined to find their own way. We discover as we wave through the story that there are secrets a few generations ago and this along with magical jewellery, is Makayla the one to bring back to force the art of Necromancy. Once the first years have found their familiars Makayla stands out even more. Add to the intrigue the seemingly forgettable Griffin and possible Tutor turner evil Professor Wooly.<br />I cannot wait for the next in the series as I know I will enjoy reading how the story continues.<br /> <br/><br/> <a href=”https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/34425105-tracy”>View all my reviews</a>
