The last poetry book I read before this was one of Shel Silverstein’s when I was a kid. I remember running the gamut of mostly positive emotions with laughter as a common reaction. I say that to say, I don’t normally read much poetry, but I’m really glad I picked this book up! These poems took me on a journey, seeing inside the author’s soul as they bear it to the world. With the variety of emotions as well as the illustrations and the page design, I really enjoyed these! Based on the color theme – even without reading the title – I had a general idea of what side of the emotional spectrum each poem would be, which just made the reading experience even better! If you like poetry, I would absolutely recommend this book!

Battling Beckett by T. Christensen – Review by M Policicchio

Battling Beckett: A Contemporary Step Brother RomanceBattling Beckett: A Contemporary Step Brother Romance by T. Christensen

It has been Beckett Dawson and his dad since his mom left when Beckett was 4. His dad always said that women were traitorous and usually out for his money. Beckett knew this was the case when his dad brought the Smith women into his life. The mom was just after his dad’s millions, and the daughter was probably no better. That is Beckett’s mission to prove to himself and his dad. But there just seems to be something about Greer that Beckett can’t shake, can’t figure out.

Greer Smith is used to being invisible, lost in a sea of high schoolers. Moving in with her mother’s fiance has made sure that is no longer possible. A new school for her senior year, living with the quarterback who hates her, and being thrust into a world of privilege has left Greer floundering. Greer tries to balance her independence, her growing attraction for Beckett, and her old friends as her new life takes some twists and turns.

Sssooooooooooooooooooooo, I thought this was going to be another typical bully romance, but Nope, nunuhn, no way! I stayed up way too late reading one night slash early morning because I didn’t want to put it down. This book is fantastic. The story grabs you and keeps you guessing. This might not be a straight dual POV, but I LOVE how you get both Greer and Beckett’s sides. I hope that this is not the end for these two characters. Can we get them in college or in a companion story??? Please!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, fantastic, wonderful, outstanding book.
