This book had me glued to it from the beginning! I really liked Riley’s character. She followed the rules but deep down she wanted more for her life. Asher shows up in her community and turns her life upside down. This was definitely my kind of book and it left me needing more! I can’t wait to read the next book!

This is the third book in this thrilling series. I highly suggest that you read the series from book one or you will most likely get confused on some parts too. All in all it is a wonderfully written dark fantasy. It has great characters with elements of magic. I recommend.

Shadow's Fall (Shadowstalker Series Book 3)Shadow’s Fall by Natalie Johanson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rose Trewin finds herself as the newly appointed Chief of the magical Shademaker Clan while trying to control her magic. King Micah had set out to the south in order to capture Gerik, a powerful, evil mage; however, his plans are thwarted and Gerik escapes. When Rose finds out, she instantly knows that her top priority is to track down Gerik and put an end to his evil plans before he can destroy everything and everyone that she loves. As Rose leaves, the king returns to his kingdom only to find that a religious zealot group has turned his peaceful people into intolerant people. Both face their own struggles and trials. As they lean on each other for support, feelings begin to build between the two. Can they both conquer their different trials and find their way back to each other before it’s too late?

I enjoyed the continuation of this series. Rose has to find the courage to face her greatest tormentor and her greatest fear. Micah finds himself stuck between his heart and his duty to the crown. I feel like the author does an excellent job of describing their struggles and how they work through them. The storyline is still building, and I am looking forward to seeing how it all pans out. I am rooting for Rose and Micah!!

This was the third book in the series, and I wish I could say you could read this without reading the first books but alas I can not. This book started right off from where the second book left off. Highly suggest that you should start this series from the beginning so that there is more understanding with what is going on and having a little bit more back story to everything. But other then that I was able to read this book and not be totally lost or confused. This book is filled with magic, romance, drama, action, mystery, and so much more that really made this story as amazing and made me not want to put it down. The world building and story telling makes you really feel like you are in this story along with everyone else. I absolutely love Rose in the story her determination and strong will makes her a really amazing girl boss, while King Micah kind of gets a rude awaking when he goes to go home, and no one likes him. The adventure set out between these two was captivating and filled with twists and turns that I really was on the edge of my seat and couldn’t put it down till I finished it.

Shadow's Fall (Shadowstalker Series Book 3)Shadow’s Fall by Natalie Johanson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shadow’s Fall is Book Three in the Shadowstalker Series. Although it could possibly be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the other books in the series first. I started with the third book not realizing there were two other books prior to this one. I will be going back to read those ones and then rereading this one because it will make more sense knowing the full backstory. It is a YA fantasy story with action, suspense, mystery, intrigue, magic, drama, and danger. The story centers around the character of Rose who has become the newly appointed Chief of her clan. She is trying to deal with a lot of issues at once but at the top of her list is finding Gerik and stopping him from hurting anyone that she cares about. If anyone can possibly stop him, Rose can because she is smart, strong, fierce, and determined. As Rose sets off on her adventure King Micah returns to a world full of chaos and anger. He must try to find a way to turn things around and keep everyone happy. The two characters have their work cut out for them. The author creates a great story full of secrets, sacrifices, lies, magic, and adventure that keep you riveted until the end. Anxiously awaiting the next book in this series!

I haven’t read the first 2 books of this series but I’ll definitely be going back and reading those ASAP. And cliffhangers just make me want to pick up the next one! Shadows Fall (Shadowstalker Series Book 3) by Natalie Johanson – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur.

Shadow's Fall (Shadowstalker Series Book 3)Shadow’s Fall by Natalie Johanson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rose Trewin is a Shadowstalker, a person with magic who can walk within and speak to the shadows, as well as those who dwell within them, she has a past which haunts her and a future which is full of responsibility she doesn’t know if she can handle, all she wanted to do was find the ruins she knew existed within the forest, but what she found instead was a clan of people like her, the Shademaker Clan. This clan of people have remained hidden from the outside world since the hunting of those who wielded magic, but now they have been found and are looking to the first Shadowstalker in years to become their Chief and although she is reluctant, Rose is determined to try and work with the Council, even if she doesn’t exactly trust them. King Micah Ellsworth has been trying to subdue an uprising in the southern part of his Kingdom, a group of chieftains who were led astray by a powerful mage, claiming to be a god, but now he has disappeared and the King is looking for answers, he wants to know where the mage Gerik is, but he knows that he has to shed blood to find this out.

When he has the information he is looking for, he agrees to return and try to negotiate something that will work for both parties, but until then, he has to return to his home and ensure that things are running smoothly, however, he also knows that he has to visit Rose on the way, he feels that their blossoming bond needs it and he realises that so does he, but he also needs to update Rose on the whereabouts of Gerik. As soon as they are near, Rose and Micah can sense their bond relaxing and so they welcome the others return, even if it is short lived, they both have news they need to share with the other and have time just to be in one another’s company again, as well as speaking to the Council. While Rose was waiting to Micah to arrive, strange things have been happening to the clan and the shadows hold the answers, but they are not the ones she hoped for and neither is the news that Micah brings about Gerik escaping because she knows that can only spell danger to herself and those she has just found, her family and the people who are now depending on her.

When the sojourn is over and King Micah returns home, it isn’t as welcoming as he expected, things have been happening while he was away in the south and not good things either, it seems that the idea of uprisings has started here as well, but this time it is a religious group who are stirring up trouble and the people are listening. The group are using the famine and other occurrences in the Kingdom as evidence that something is coming and this is making the King’s people uneasy, not to mention that they hate anyone with even an ounce of magic within them, the prejudices of old are returning and it is causing a divide, even the fact that King Micah is still unmarried is being used to this groups advantage, so he has to request Rose’s help to find Gerik while he tries to hold his kingdom together, but will this return to her past destroy the tenuous bonds she has built with those around her and will this cause her to lose what she feels is most precious to her? This is a fantasy adventure with magic, rebellion and shadows all around as one woman tries to save herself and those she loves without being consumed by darkness and losing herself in the process as you follow along her journey through a harsh environment until the end.

I’ve had quite positive experiences with the series in jumping in out of number and we are able to follow the story with minimal knowledge from the previous. I struggled a bit to get certain parts of this novel so it is advisable to start from the beginning of the series so you can gain the experience of it. The book has magic, drama, romance, etc. Main character, Rose, is a quest not knowing who to trust along the way. She must travel south to kill Gerick, a powerful mage who has escaped from the King. Rose really comes into her own as she starts with many unknowns and becomes determined in obstacles that lie in front of her. Great characters and elements of magic!

This is the third book in the Shadowstalker Series. The author does a wonderful job of describing the world and the characters are well written. The book has some darker moments, drama, magic, and so,e surprises! As a reader of many years, I always enjoy finding a new author or series that brings me the joy of connecting with the main characters, when it’s a series, we get to learn so much more of that world. This is a young adult series and I know I would have loved reading it back when I was a teen.

I wish I had paid more attention and read the first two books in the Shadowstalker Series. With not having the whole story it did make the book harder to read but is doable. You just miss a lot. It is a YA fantasy story full of adventure. The characters are great and everything runs real well together pulling you into the story. I definitely recommend reading the first two and then this one but a great series.

Shadows Fall is the third book in the series. I would definitely recommend reading them in order so you get a full understanding of what is happening. However, I didn’t do this and was still able to figure it all out and enjoy the story. This is a great YA fantasy story that is imaginative and well written. You are pulled straight into the story with ease and I could not wait to see what was going to happen.
The characters fit really well with the story. They were original and refreshing and I connected with them immediately. This is a new author to me and I can say for sure that the first thing I will be doing is going back to read the other books in the series.

I struggled a little in the beginning. I found the first chapter or two of this book hard to gel with what the author was describing and to visualise the story, but once things clicked I was hooked and needed to see what happened. It may have made more sense if I had read the first two in the series, although once past the start the book is fine as a stand alone.
We follow Rose (chief of the Shadwmaker Clan) and the magic wielders as the shadows return magic to the world. Not only is the struggle with the wielderes but also with the populace as a whole. She hunts for those from her past to help find peace in the present.
King Micah and the war in the South as Roses anchor has his own battles to wage that have little to do with the war.
The world building, both the physical realm and the shadow world are linked and described in depth, the characters all continue to grow and evolve as the world around them changes.
Avery well written book that I thoroughly enjoyed once I was further than the third chapter.
I am ready for more from this author. If you like in depth fantasy and journeys this is the book for you .
I read Shadow’s Fall without reading the prior books in the series. While I don’t feel I really missed out on a lot of information, I am sure reading the others first would have made things a bit more smooth as far as the storyline and understanding how the characters were connected. Natalie Johanson does an amazing job weaving a descriptive, intriguing, and original story. I could see the world in which the story takes place and feel what the characters were feeling. The characters were so original, likeable, and believable. The added elements of magic, danger, romance, and darkness only enhanced the book’s entertainment. I was kept on the edge of my seat more than once waiting to see what would happen next. Shadow’s Fall is Young Adult fiction but is just as entertaining for older individuals who enjoy a great fantasy read.

Shadow’s Fall is the third book in the Shadowstalker series by Natalie Johanson. The first being Shadow’s voice and second is Shadow’s past. I made the mistake of reading this one first so i was a little lost, but have no doubt I will be going back to read the first two then will most likely reread this one. This is my first time reading a book by this author and even though I started on this one I was still super impressed with her writing style and loved this imaginative story. It was a dark fantasy book with strong emotions, magic, crazy good action, romance, and many secrets. I really enjoyed Rose. She was a real Kick ass, take names later kind a girl and I lovvvve it
I already can’t wait to read the next installment of this Shadowstalker series after being left with this cliffhanger 😣

Shadow's Fall (Shadowstalker Series Book 3)Shadow’s Fall by Natalie Johanson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rose, being the newly appointed Chief of her clan, is still trying to figure things out. Her new position of authority, her powers, being reunited with her mother that abandoned her at a young age, and the tether to King Micah. On top of all of that, Gerik, (who I am assuming is the big bad in the previous books) alluded the King and his troops in search of a myth deep in the desert. When Rose finds out, she instantly decides to find Gerik and stop him. She is not going to let him hurt anyone else she cares about. With a crash course on how to travel in the shadows, she sets off.

Meanwhile, King Micah travels home and does not get the welcome he was looking for. Instead of being welcomed with praise and opened arms, he is welcomed by citizens being angry at one thing or another and a group of religious people who hate all magic users. Micah has to figure out how to make everyone happy.

This book is the third book in the Shadowstalker series and although I read it as a stand alone, I highly suggest going back and reading the first two. The book seems to be starting off right after the previous one so I was a bit lost with who’s who and what’s what. Fortunately the book is detailed enough that the book was still enjoyable without reading the previous books. The author does a good job in world building and at times felt like I was there. As the book goes on, it becomes packed with action and excitement. Get prepared to fall in love with the series and impatiently wait for the next installment to come out.

Shadow’s Fall is the third book in the Shadowstalker series by Natalie Johanson. I have come into this series a little late, starting on the third instalment instead of the first- as when I purchased a copy I hadn’t realised this was Book #3 in an ongoing series. I really wish that I had noticed that before embarking on this adventure because I think knowing what happened previously would have made this an even better read. So having said that, I will be going back and reading the previous two books before continuing on with any new instalments in the series.
I highly recommend that you don’t do what I did by jumping into the series on this instalment. Take the time and go back to the beginning and find out what happens there before diving in here. I think knowing what happens previously will definitely enhance your reading experience of this book, and the series as a whole.
This is a bit of an epic YA fantasy with magic, action, romance, drama, danger, emotion, intrigue, mystery, secrets, discoveries, challenges, surprising developments, and sacrifice.
This is a well-woven story with plenty of texture, depth, and layers that are cleverly crafted into an engrossing read. The world-building is immersive and the characters are engaging- making for a great read.
This instalment ends on a cliffhanger- so everything is set to continue in Book #4—- Bring it on!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Natalie Johanson!

Shadow’s Fall is the third book in the YA Shadowstalker series. I had started reading this book before I realised it was the third book in the series, so I stopped and went back and made sure to read the first two books, Shadow’s Voice and Shadow’s Past. They follow on from each other, so I was glad that I did.
Natalie’s writing is imaginative and thrilling and it’s easy to see why she won first place in the Firebird’s Book Awards.
The Shadowstalker is a slightly dark magical fantasy series, and it is that darkness that gives the story that much more edge. It is a testament to Natalie’s writing and world building skills that I enjoyed this story and the others so much as I am not usually a lover of YA stories.
I really enjoyed the MC Rose, she is a well-developed character that is strong, sassy, tough and kickarse and does not apologise for who she is.
Rose’s past raises its ugly head when she is forced to hunt one who is intent on destroying everything she loves. Will that darkness be her undoing once again?
If you like something a little dark, something a little mysterious, something a little thrilling then jump in because this story did not disappoint.

This is the third book in the Shadowstalker series. I initially started this book without reading the previous two but went back to read the previous books before finishing it. I would recommend that you read the first two books prior to starting this one to get a clearer picture of the characters and the ongoing story.
This was an enjoyable young adult fantasy. It was well-written; everything links together nicely between the books and within this one. The writing style was easy to follow and sets up the twists in a satisfying way. I also enjoyed the way the characters, character developments and growing relationships were written.
I’m hoping another book is released soon as I need to know what happens next!

This is the 3rd book in the Shadowstalker series. I do highly recommend reading theses book from the beginning so that you get a complete picture of the story, the characters and how they are entwined. The author has done an amazing job with this series. It is a magical adventure, full of danger, secrets, lies and connections i did not see coming. The characters are well written and both Rose and King Micah have their own battles they have to resolve as well as trying to work out their unique connection and what it all means.
This story is full of moving parts and people so I definately recommend reading this series in order to get the full enjoyment. Reading it is like watching the characters playing a game of strategy but they don’t know who they are against or what their enemies are capable of which makes it harder to see the twists and turns coming.
One thing for sure both Rose and King Micah have to make sacrifices to protect the people under their care but how big a sacrifice will surprise them both.
This book ends on a cliff hanger so I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.
If you enjoy stories of multi layered lands, magic, danger, adventure, secrets and ancient clans then I definately suggest falling into this series.

A fairly entertaining fantasy novel. I came into it here in the middle. I found it to contain lots of drama and adventure. Everyone seems to be adjusting to new roles. The writing is well-done. I was pulled in right from the beginning with King Micah surveying the battlefields and the opposing forces. From their, it only got better. I will have to go back and read it from the beginning. I found the protagonist to be strong and trying to overcome a lot. It was a very well-done read.

This is the third book in the series and there is a lot going on. Rose and Micah have so much to figure out with their clans and lands as well as each other. Fantasy author Natalie Johanson lives in the beautiful mountain valley of Utah with her two cats, Watson and Holmes, and her adorable wife. She spends far too much time staring out of windows, drinking tea, and buying books she’ll never have the time to read.

Her debut novel, Shadow’s Voice, became an award-winning book, followed quickly by Shadow’s Past. The award-winning series, The Shadowstalker, continues to grow and monopolize much of her time and focus; not that she had much to begin with.
