Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship (The Perfect Pairing Series Book 1) by Parker Fairchild – Review by Sheri Schrader

Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship (The Perfect Pairings Series Book 1)Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship by Parker Fairchild
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship is the first book in The Perfect Pairings Series. If you are needing a bit of romantic, holiday spirit this book just might help. Olivia decides to spend the holidays on a cruise instead of suffering through visiting her sister and her sister’s fiance. What happens after having dinner with Santa and Mrs. Claus changes Olivia’s life forever.
The story is cute and has a lot of fantasy, but fits the bill for a holiday romance. Imagine a Hallmark movie on a cruise ship. There are fun and quirky characters onboard and they add to the story. This was an unbelievable romance but a great getaway from the day-to-day rush of real life. I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Spoilsport (Pierce Brothers Book 2) by Belinda Williams – Review by Sheri Schrader

Spoilsport (Pierce Brothers, #2)Spoilsport by Belinda Williams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Spoilsport by Belinda Williams is the second book in the Pierce Brothers series. This can easily be read and enjoyed without having read the first book in the series. I was looking forward to this book after reading the first book where the characters of Nadia and Luke are introduced. Nadia is not interested in relationships and especially not love. She is snarky and wonderful with witty comments. Luke, a recently divorced father, can’t stop himself from thinking of this enticing woman. Will Luke crack through the tough shell Nadia has placed around herself?
I enjoyed this sweet romance and the characters are relatable. I like that there are contrasts in their personalities that create tension between the characters. This series has been fun and enjoyable. A nice getaway from the stresses of life. I look forward to reading more from this author in the near future.

Love’s Reverie by KG Fletcher is the second book in The Stardust Duet series. The first book in the series should be read first to get the full enjoyment of this story. Will the two be able to conquer any obstacles put before them?

Death under Palm TreesDeath under Palm Trees by Carmen Radtke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Death Under the Palm Trees: A Jack and Frances 1930s mystery by Carmen Radtke is the fourth book in the Jack and Frances Mysteries series. This is the first book I have read in this series, but I enjoyed it despite not having read the previous books. The book is a delightful cozy mystery set in 1930s Nice, France. It had the feel of classic mysteries written by Agatha Christie and others. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. The setting was luxurious and glamourous but with some less than honorable people. I liked the twists in the story and how Jack and Frances interact with each other. The dialogue is witty and clever. I will now read the previous books in this series and look forward to more from this author.

Cursed Luck (Broderick Coven, #5)Cursed Luck by A.J. Renee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cursed Luck by AJ Renee is the fifth book in the Broderick Coven series. This book can be read as a standalone, but I think it is best enjoyed if the series is read in order. There are recurring characters in the books. Cursed Luck focuses on Edward Broderick and Mia Hemlock. Edward likes being by himself. But, can he find a way to let Mia into his life?
I enjoyed the characters in this book and found them relatable. I also enjoy the paranormal aspects of brewing romance. It adds to the story and makes everything a bit more magical. Weep, Woman, WeepWeep, Woman, Weep by Maria DeBlassie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Weep Woman Weep, A Gothic Fairytale about Ancestral Hauntings by Maria DeBlassie, is an excellent novella. The story might be short, but there is so much jam-packed into it, but not in an overwhelming fashion. I enjoyed how DeBlassie took the story of La Llorona and created a story around it. The characters, setting, and background was full of details allowing my imagination to take over and visualize the story. I have read other books by this author but enjoyed this one the best so far. There are so many layers to the book, and I wanted to get to each one. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Love's Refrain (The Stardust Duet, #1)Love’s Refrain by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love’s Refrain: A Time Travel Romance by KG Fletcher is the first book in The Stardust Duet series. The book is a lovely romance involving time travel that kept me reading late into the night. Kat Monroe and pianist Phillip Gordon meet under unusual circumstances. Will they be able to overcome all the obstacles to find true love?
This is a beautifully written tale of two people destined for one another. The time travel element reminds me of Somewhere in Time or something similar. Unfortunately, I wanted the best for the characters and had difficulty putting down the book to get some sleep. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison is the first book in The Lochlann Feuds Book series. This is my first book by these authors, and I was not disappointed. Rowen is a strong and interesting princess character. I like that the story stays away from all the tropes typical in this genre. Instead, the story leads an interesting and original path. The story is a great read that I didn’t want to put down. Also, the story ends on a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Swindler’s Revenge (Karina Cardinal Mysteries Book 5) by Ellen Butler – Review by Sheri Schrader

Swindler's RevengeSwindler’s Revenge by Ellen Butler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Swindler’s Revenge by Ellen Butler is the fifth book in the Karina Cardinal series. First, I recommend reading the series to know Karina’s past escapades and the other characters that recur in the series. Karina seems to have things under control until the FBI shows up at her door looking for her ex, Mike Finnegan. Could Mike not be the upright FBI agent Karina thought he was? This story is a great addition to the series. I like that Karina finds herself in crazy situations but still finds her way through with the help of some talented individuals. I also like that this isn’t so intense and serious that it overwhelms the reader. The story has intensity but a nice amount of humor and a smidge of romance. I look forward to reading more in this series and from this author in the future.

The Girl and the Raven (The Girl and the Raven series) by Pauline Gruber – Review by Sheri Schrader

The Girl and The RavenThe Girl and The Raven by Pauline Gruber
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Girl and the Raven by Pauline Gruber is the first book in a new YA paranormal romance series, The Girl and the Raven. Lucy is the main character and she has just discovered more than she ever could imagine about herself and her family. I really like this flawed and likable character. She comes across as realistic because she does not react to what is going on with a wealth of teenage trope attitude. Instead, she is shocked, dismayed, intrigued, and curious. I like this is not another teen story following the same storyline of many other YA paranormal stories. I was curious as to where the story was leading and want to continue reading this series. The interactions between the different factions kept me curious and I really like the characters. They are well developed and focused on the story. I look forward to reading more from this author soon.

Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers Book 1) by Belinda Williams – Review by Sheri Schrader

Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers, #1)Mr. Nice Guy by Belinda Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mr. Nice Guy by Belinda Williams is the first book in the Pierce Brothers Book series. This is a cute, romantic read about Chelsea who has a knack for finding the awful, bad-boy boyfriend and her roommate is sick of the complaining. Chelsea doesn’t tend to give the nice guys a chance, but what happens when she does? This is a fun read that I didn’t put down until I was done. The characters of Chelsea and Tom are fun characters and I enjoyed their interactions. I also enjoyed that Tom is not a boring, nice guy but he has a frisky side also. What a way to play up just against the stereotype that if he is nice he doesn’t know how to be naughty. I enjoyed this series and look forward to reading more about the Pierce Brothers.

Georgia Clay (Southern Promises, #1)Georgia Clay by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Georgia Clay by KG Fletcher is the first book in the Southern Promises series. I really enjoyed reading the story of a romance between a country music writer and a career-minded woman. The two seem an unlikely pair but it develops from a long night of talking to a long-distance romance. Can Georgia Clay and Katie Parker make their differences work? I liked these characters because they are not just young, beautiful, and talented but still have a realness to them. There are struggles and moments of being unsure but the two matches each other well. I read through this quickly and did not want to put it down until I finished the story. I appreciate the author putting so much of herself into the book with her knowledge of the music business in Nashville to create a realistic and engaging read. I look forward to where this series goes next and reading more from this author soon.
