Ultimately, I am a sucker for romance novels, especially when the woman is a strong fierce female such as the ones found in this series. I do believe that communication is key and within these pages you’ll find that to be true as well.

I found the authors writing style to be quite immersive, enjoyed the plot and the want to stand out amongst those in her field of work. The ending will put a silly smile on your face too, I am sure. Well worth a read!

Part of the My Cowboy Series, this story centers around Hunter and Kennedy. Hunter grew up in a ranchers’ family as well as a legendary bull rider for a father but refuses to settle into the life he’s grown to know and instead pave his own way into playing football. On the other hand, as a young girl, Kennedy loved the game of football and was able to play within a boys league and after some disputes was no longer able to play. As she grew older, she paved her own way onto the platform of sports broadcasting, another predominantly male field. A chance meeting of Hunter and Kennedy will bring out warm feelings but could these feelings lead to harmful consequences.
Brooke May establishes such great characters to dominate her stories who are strong willed, focused, driven and in careers that center back to the cowboy way of life. Getting to know these new characters more in depth and seeing where this story takes us into their experiences makes this story such an enjoyable and quick read.

Brooke May’s books are always touch and go for me. Some I love and others I could pass on. This one seems to fall into the last category. There just doesn’t seem to be much to keep my interest. The connection between the two characters takes about thirty percent before they have a meet cute. Then another twenty percent until they are actually in each others orbit. There is a lot of info about his life before and meeting the team and she gives us the backstory on playing FB and how she can’t play now but can still be involved in it. I honestly did a lot of skimming and bypassing their inner thoughts. There is not a lot of conflict just a nice wholesome story.

Hunter doesn’t want to grow up to continue working his family’s ranch. He wants more, much more. He wants to play pro football if he can, but ranching isn’t for him. Kennedy also has a love for football, but as a girl, she learned that she wasn’t welcome in the sports world. But she is determined and though she can’t play, she finds a way into that world but no one can know the truth. Sparks fly between these two and they begin to build a relationship, but is it solid enough to survive the secrets?
This was such a fun read. I really enjoyed this book. You get drawn in and invested in the characters. You worry right along with them. The best books are the one’s that come to life and you feel like they are real people that you know, and not just characters in a story. That is what happens in this book and I am really excited to read the rest of the series.

She’s No Cowgirl (My Cowboy Series #5) by Brooke May

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. This is the first book in the My Cowboy Series that I’ve read. Each can be read as a standalone. She’s No Cowgirl is the fifth book in the My Cowboy Series.

Kennedy wants nothing more than to play football. She isn’t allowed to do so in school, but that doesn’t mean that she’s going to give up. What happens when she meets Hunter? The quote I chose for Kennedy is: “Why would I cut through downtown? I’m going to be leaving here in a couple of minutes.”

Hunter loves playing football. He doesn’t like working on his family ranch, but he does it every summer. This year is going to change everything he’s ever thought. The quote I chose for Hunter is:“I will and you try to not get into too much trouble. I mean it. Some of the stuff you pull can drive Dad crazy. I’d hate to see what happens when he finally does snap.”

Highly recommended for Western Romance lovers.

I cannot get enough of these books! The story line is great, the characters are wonderful and readers never want to put the book down. Each story is written with such detail that readers are sucked in left wanting more. The chemistry coming off the pages is electric! The characters compliment each other and while we have all read romance before, this is different!

This wonderful author never disappoints and this book is yet another example of her fantastic writing. The lead characters Hunter and Kennedy are wonderful. Kennedy is trying hard to be the absolute best she can be in a very male dominated field all while dealing with a slimy and very sneaky boss! Hunter is focused on his football and looking toward his future career. They definitely were not looking for each other but I think that makes finding love even more special right? This book can be read as a stand alone but I am definitely looking forward to reading more in this super fun series. The side characters have me intrigued and I want to know more about them as well.

Four Stars

She’s No Cowgirl is the fifth book in the My Cowboy series by Brooke May. This is the first book that I have read by this author, but definitely won’t be my last. This book can obviously be read as a standalone. Ms. May really brings the characters to life. I enjoyed the flow of the story. Hunter and Kennedy are following their dreams, when they have an accidental meeting. Will their chemistry be enough to keep them together, or will real world issues get in their way? This fun fast paced book was a great weekend read. I look forward to going back and reading the first four books in the series.

Have you ever read a story that just made you smile for no reason? That’s how I felt reading this book. It was sweet and beautiful. You have two people wanting to live a dream that others don’t see for them. But the beautiful part that dream is something they share. One has no time for love while the other holds a secret. I really enjoyed the characters. They fit together perfectly like puzzle pieces. The author definitely gets you a great story for you to fall in love with. I found myself investing in the happiness of Hunter and Kennedy. Even knowing it’s fiction I wanted the best for them. I recommend you read this story if you want something sweet in between the spicy.

A fun and enjoyable sports romance with a cowboy/cowgirl twist. Although book five in the ‘My Cowboy Series’ it can be read as a standalone story, however some of the characters do crossover. In ‘She’s No Cowgirl’, Hunter Masters does not want to continue with his families ranching legacy and has his own goal of playing American Football. Meanwhile Kennedy McGraw grew up in a man oriented world and was forced to put her football ambitions behind her. When Kennedy is given the opportunity to prove that women are just as capable as men in the world of sport she jumps at the chance. Kennedy and Hunter then meet by accident in the locker room and they both feel an instant attraction and chemistry between them. However, Hunter has always been too focused on football for relationships and Kennedy denies how she feels and keeps Hunter at a distance. Eventually the couple have to admit their feelings for each other but just as their relationship is developing an article by K.D. comes out declaring a secret which will cause a scandal. Hunter and Kennedy have to decide if they can trust each other and survive the potential scandal together or if it will tear them apart. I loved the main characters, Hunter and Kennedy and how their relationship developed during the story, their chemistry definitely came across in the narrative. This was an easy read and the storyline flowed well and the plot had enough going on in it to keep me happily turning the pages. I liked how the author included some more difficult themes such as the sexism that Kennedy suffered in the man dominated sports world and this added depth to the story. A great read which I thoroughly enjoyed and I am keen to read the rest of the books in this series now.

She’s No Cowgirl is the 5th book in the series but can definitely be read as a standalone.
This is the story of Hunter and Kennedy. Hunter is a sophomore football player. While his family owns a ranch, his dreams are bigger than spending day-in and day-out working the land. He would love to go pro playing football, but would settle for a career in the business world. Kennedy used to have a dream of playing football, but she learned early on that her options were limited because she was a girl. Instead, she has shifted her focus to being an amazing sports journalist. The only problem…she has to hide her identity because women are not taken seriously in this business.
An accidental run-in (literally) between Hunter and Kennedy has changed the course for both of them. Instead of focusing on school, football, and journalism, they are finding that they are focusing on each other. As they begin their relationship, Hunter can tell Kennedy is hiding something…he just can’t quite figure it out. Kennedy knows that her job could jeopardize everything they are building. What happens when it all comes out…can they move past it? Or will KD be the downfall of Hunter’s career?
I enjoyed both Hunter and Kennedy’s characters. They are both driven college students that don’t spend their free time partying and, instead, are trying to shape their futures. Their connection was instant and I could feel it through the pages. I enjoyed the story and am now going to go back and read the rest in the series.

I instantly fell in love with both characters and for separate reasons. Masters needed a getaway from the rough and tough lifestyle as he knew it and Kennedy is nothing like the leading ladies we often read about in books like these. I love that she’s a relatable tomboy but still a lady at heart. She’s capable of being a skirt but the cat and mouse chemistry between these two draw you near as seduction heats up. Their love is an unexpected gift in this book as we learn what rips them apart can bring them together. I love Brooke May’s writing and how she brings the world in her books together seamlessly.

She’s No Cowgirl is actually book 5 in the My Cowboy Series and thankfully can be read as a standalone. This story is about Hunter and Kennedy. The other books in this series follow other couples and I look forward to reading about them.

Hunter and Kennedy are sweet and fun. They are young adults in the early years of college. Instead of being party animals, they both are working hard towards their dreams, him the football star and her a sports journalist. Their love story is sweet and innocent with an added bonus of their love for sports…football in particular. However, just like in sports, there is a bad play in their love story. Kennedy and Hunter must decide if the play is a game ending play for their relationship or just a little time out.

This story is easy to follow and the characters are easy to read about. Kennedy is a strong female character. In fact, both Kennedy and Hunter are strong characters overall, both determined in their choice of careers and the path to get them to their dreams.

I enjoyed this story and will read from this author again.

I have read a few books from this author and she continues to surprise me with her writing. I love a good athlete romance but she exceeded my expectations with this book. This is the fifth book of the My cowboy series. This book can read as a stand alone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was so excited when I got this book I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I read this book straight through in a few hours. I can’t wait to see what this amazing author will write about next.

Hunter Masters doesn’t want to live his dad’s legacy as a rancher he wants to play football. He is ready to go back to school and play the sport he loves so much. Hunter has no time for girls until he meets the lovely Kennedy. He can’t help but to fall for her. She is smart, sweet, and beautiful but she is hiding something he can’t put his finger on. Will Hunter find the one he has been waiting for or is she just another girl that wants him for the fame?

She’s No Cowgirl is a sports romance book and boy do I love these books!!!! I could not put this book down from the very beginning.
The characters pull you in immediately and you can not but fall in love with the romance and what will happen in the next aspect of this storyline. The chemistry between Hunter and Kennedy is great and you can not help but push for them to have their happy ever after… but will it be in the cards for them or will drama and secrets hinder that journey??? This is definitely a must read!!! And I personally can not wait to read more from this wonderful author.

She’s No Cowgirl by Brooke May was a great 5 star read.
I was pulled in right from the beginning.

From a young age Kennedy was into sports, she was so determined that she even played one year of tackle football. She wasn’t allowed to return to football so she has decided to take a different journey that will allow her to be fully involved in the sports world. Another role that is usually ruled by men, she is determined to prove women can do just as good as men. I love her character so much.

Hunter’s family is in ranching, he is a college football player during the school year. He wants more for himself other than taking over the family business. When Hunter meets Kennedy you can feel the sparks fly and chemistry come off the pages. These two have so much in common with sports and have the same goals.

Will they both be successful in their goals? Can they have a HEA?

Overall I really enjoyed this couple and their story. All of the secondary characters were great. If you’re looking for a read that pulls you right in this is the book for you. The author does a great job with her writing and pulls you right in. 1-click and get started today. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Brooke May is a go-to author for me, I have read numerous books by this author and each book hooks me within minutes and this one is no different. I was hooked with this storyline and these characters made this book was it is, entertaining, easy to read, captivating and a read you could read all over again. I absolutely loved Kennedy & Hunter’s connection, I loved watching them grow throughout the read and seeing how they begin to where they end up. The connection that grows between them brings true chemistry when they are together, and I loved seeing that grow. I couldn’t help but route for these two characters, with the all the emotions that you go through with young love, from the drama, and ups and downs that comes with it you couldn’t help but hope these two would come through the other side. I loved diving into this read, you will not be disappointed in picking this read up! I highly recommend this read and this author!

I haven’t read the rest of the books in the series and would say this can definitely be read as a stand alone book.

I really enjoyed this book, it’s an entertaining, light-hearted read. It has a wonderful storyline that was a different take on the usual sporting romance themes.
The thing that made this story stand out for me was the characters. The female lead is strong, passionate, and isn’t afraid to chase her dreams. The chemistry between Kennedy and Hunter really kept me hooked. It wasn’t always smooth sailing for these guys, there’s plenty of challenges and drama that they faced throughout, but I was really rooting for them.

This story is a sports romance story. The characters are fully developed and enjoyable. The storyline is engaging. This story has romance, sports, drama, and of course some shady nonsense going on. Kennedy shows that she is a strong female who can prove that she can do anything a man can do. Hunter is out to show that there is more to being a rancher than people think. Will Kennedy and Hunter come together at some point? Can each one prove to the other their idea of what their roles are? I love watching the relationships grow. I can see myself in this story. Sports romances are a must read usually for me, throw in Brooke May as the author and I am there. I loved She’s No Cowgirl, the fifth book in the My Cowboy Series. Kennedy is a kick butt and take names lead female character. She does her best to fit in in a man’s world and truly wants to play football with the best of them. Unfortunately, or fortunate depending on how you look at it, she doesn’t find her niche quite like she does with writing sports. This brings Hunter into her life and these two are fabulous. I loved the push pull and the way things read so realistically. I felt as if I should be their own cheerleading section at times and found myself giggling at several points. Brooke May’s book was a great contemporary romance which was an easy, quick read. The dual perspectives from both love interest, Kennedy and Hunter were amazing in developing the characters, from their feeling for each other to their love of football. While this book was football orientated due to Hunter playing football in college and Kennedy being a sports reporter, this book could be enjoyed by everyone.
I loved that Brooke May did not shy away from serious topics such as career pressure and Kennedy experiencing sexism in her work and due to her love of sports.
Additionally, Brooke May highlights an important message throughout the book about following your dreams and never giving up despite all obstacles.

5 stars!
I love romance stories centering around sports, and this one was even better because the female lead is a tough and independent woman, trying to succeed in fields where men usually dominate. At first I didn’t know what to expect with the first few chapters, it seemed like Kennedy was going to go on to play football, but because of men dominating the scene she was cast aside. So she does something else she is passionate about which is sports journalism. When the two meet and end up together, I love it, I love everything about their relationship and how Hunter loves Kennedy that much more because of the fact that she is not your average girl. I had a feeling something was about to go down since Kennedy is writing for the paper and here comes the sleazy Jonathan. I liked how he tried to turn it all back around on Kennedy in front of others, made me hate him so much more. I highly recommend this book, it has drama, romance and sports. Perfect read for me.

The story itself is entertaining too. With romance and scandal it made for a fun read and the whole way through I really wanted the characters to find a way to make their relationship work.
