We follow Sully through his journey as a demon hunter. He meets Mick and agrees to help her find her friend. Through his search he finds out things about himself that were hidden. His chemistry with Mick is very natural and fluid. Lots of action!!!! All in all this was a great read. If your a fan of the supernatural I think you should give it a try.

The Son of Asmodeus by Barb Jones moved quickly through a complex storyline littered with angels, demons and secret pacts made ages ago. Sully is a loveable main character who had never waivered from what he considered his sacred duty to fight and kill demons- it is the holy task he was assigned from a very early age. Hundreds of years later, Sully is made aware of the deeper meaning of his purpose and embarks on a treacherous journey to learn more about his past, his purpose and his future as a demon hunter.

This is the first book I have read by Barb Jones, and it did not disappoint. The completely unique synopsis is what drew me in and had me interested. Page one, the prologue, “The Pact” had me hooked. A battle in the kingdom of heaven led by Lucifer, with a horde of demons, had killed countless angels in the throne room. An ultimatum by the Lord himself made Lucifer withdrawal only for him to send a second horde of demons. After using his flaming sword, the Archangel Michael broken by seeing the loss of his brothers and sisters has a plan to project the passage to heaven, to insure it never falls to demons again.
The Lord, Lucifer, and Raphael all agree to Michael’s plan, the pact, and agree to provide the demon prince Asmodeus by Lucifer, the archangel Jophiel by Michael and the prophet Elias by Raphael. The Pact requires a sacrifice by both kingdoms, Heaven, and Hell, and only those involved are to know the price that is paid to protect the passage. Michael calls upon Asmodeus and Jophiel ensuring that they agree that they are willing partners when Michael sees the spark between them, and his depths of his pact begins. Brother John 1329 was taught by his parents about hell and the truth of demons being fallen angels by his father and taught about heaven and the archangels by his mother. Went to the monastery at the age of 14, when he would ask about his purpose the monks would always tell him the same line. “You are a special child with a unique purpose, that had adopted parents that loved you.” As a powerful exorcists Brother John only had one demon child that he could never exorcise. But this time was different the demon child taunted Brother John, asking if he wanted to know who he truly was, and questioned the monks on how long they would keep him from his true purpose. After retaliating for the first time again the other monks when Brother John tried to exorcise him, he agrees to go with him to learn the truth. Nearly 700 years later John is still feeling guilty about what the demon child, Edward, his “brother” has told him. Becoming more devote in his religion his demon brother supported him until one day he disappeared leaving a unique blade, one like he had never seen before laying where his brother once slept.
Who is Brother John’s demon father? Did the child tell the truth? How is John connected to the Pact made all those years ago? The author does an amazing job building the story and the suspense, keeping you engaged and eager to keep turning the page to learn what will happen next. I hope the next part to this series will be announced soon. The world created, the characters and the story all keep you coming back for more.

This is an interesting, fast-paced paranormal read that includes angels, demons, and a lot in between. I really enjoyed the creative world building and unique spin the author took in this book.
Can an unknown demon hunter who is feared by both Angels and Demons be a protector? Sully is a lone demon hunter whose life takes a big turn when he meets Mick and agrees to help her find her friend. I really enjoyed their chemistry and how the characters played off each other. Will both Sully and Mick find their paths and be able to stay on them to complete their destiny or will all be lost? I think this is a nice start to a new series.

This is the first book in this series. Sully, the MMC, is the son of Asmodeus, a demon prince. He was raised by foster parents until he was sent to a monestary for his protection. He discovers his purpose and, along his way, meets Mick who’s friend is missing. He agrees to help the lovely bartender and their story takes you away. This was a great first book and I can’t wait for the second!

This is definitely an interesting and original read. I was captivated and pulled in this story full of angels, demons, danger, romance, self discovery, and array of characters. As I read on, I was intrigued by Sully’s journey to self discovery. When he met Mick so much more revealed about himself and about her. Sully has been a demon hunter for as long as he can remember and now that he’s finding out more about himself he has to change some of his ways of thinking. I can’t wait to read what comes next. I highly recommend this book.

John Sullivan is a man of many secrets. Some kept by choice and some from necessity.
Around 700 years ago, Brother John was the best and most powerful exorcist in the monastery. “He was a special child with a unique purpose, adopted by parents that loved him.”
Now, John, or Sully as he now goes by, is a demon hunter. And he’s on the lookout for the true secrets of his birth and why he has the abilities he does.
Mick is just a bartender Sully happened to run into one night, and that Sully offered to help her in finding her missing friend. Now, both their worlds will change.
This action packed exciting read was absolutely awesome, and hard to put down. I’m excited for the next installment, and I highly suggest you take a moment to read!!!

John Sullivan is a demon hunter. He is also the son of Asmodeus, a demon king. When he offers to help Mick, a bartender, find her friend, his world is turned upside down. He ends up leaving LA for Scotland in the quest trying to find Mick’s friend. However, he cannot trust anyone.
Opinion
What drew me in to this book is angels and demons. The fact that Sully is son to a demon made it much more interesting. While this is not normally the type of book I set out to read, I was not disappointed at all with it. The book had a nice flow to the story line and kept me coming back for more. This book kept my interest from the first chapter and I couldn’t put it down! The plot line of a demon hunter isn’t a cookie cutter book. The characters have depth and the plot has a unique twist that wasn’t expected of a typical demon hunter book. At times, it felt like I was in an episode of Supernatural. Interesting. At first I was kind of lost in the story, I want sure who was who and what was going on, but I finally clued in became engrossed. Sully handled his position as a demon hunter well, especially considering he gets all this life changing information dumped on him all at once. He finds out who is father and mother are and rekindles a relationship with his brother. The love interest, Mick, was a fun addition. Her parents “abandoned” her as well for the greater good of heaven and hell and when we find out who her father is, it make sense, her future with Sully. Throughout the story Sully is told who he can and can’t trust, and I was really just as confused as him about who was on his side. I was apprehensive about how I would like this book and now I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I enjoyed reading this paranormal story. This is my second book by this author which I enjoyed just as much if not more than the first. This is a well written story about a demon hunter who is feared by both walks of life. Without realizing his life is about to change when he meets Mick. This is where their story takes off and is hard to put down. They are great connectable characters that bring life to the story. They have great growth and chemistry throughout. They made the story easy and entertaining to read. I enjoyed how easy it was for them to pull me into their world and keep me engaged to the end. This is a shorter story but it is full of action and packs a punch. I really enjoyed reading this book and what the characters just added to the story. I highly recommend this book.

Wow. What a start to this new series. I was really gripped by this story and I couldn’t put it down. I loved how actioned packed it was and the mixture of heaven and hell and trying to find your place in the world really makes this a page turner.
The characters are really well written and because of this you feel invested in their stories.

John is a demon hunter. He used to be a monk but not he main focus is ridding the world of demons. Demons that humans aren’t even aware exist. Little is known of John’s upbringing or parentage but when those secrets are reveled it leaves him in a state of not knowing who he is anymore. When he’s spent his life vanquishing demons can he change his views?
Added to this story is the missing bartender and Mick who asks for John’s help in finding him. But things arent what they seem here as well which leads to move secrets and discoveries that neither John or Mick are aware off.

This story is action packed and full of twists and turns. You feel like you don’t know who to trust in this story which is exactly how John feels. When you are brought up to see either good or evil what do you do when your now told that there is a grey area and that you need to protect humans from angels as well as demons.

I really can’t wait to see where this series goes.

I was not sure what to expect after reading the synopsis and the intriguing cover and this was a very good read!! Angels, Demons, mystery, secrets and definite suspense!!

What does happen Sully discovers what is truly his birthright? Sully happens to be a demon hunter … from long ago from his days at a monastery to today…..but everything changes from what he knows today as he is asked to help find a missing co-worker from a bar from a woman named Mick. Trying to find a missing person plus new information comes to light that Sully discovers about his own past and path……this story was truly a roller coaster of a ride.

What destinies lye before both Sully and Mick? I am looking so forward to more in this series!!

I loved this book! Books like this are definitely a guilty pleasure for me. It’s funny because I’m not really religious, I don’t believe in a superior being, but every book of fiction that involves Heaven and Hell I have to read. Son of Asmodeus was no different. Oh can I also say I want more! I realized after so many pages that there’s no way this is wrapping up anytime soon, not even realizing it says book 1. The author kept me intrigued throughout. I didn’t even read the whole synopsis before jumping in.
Sully is written on a path of self discovery. He knows he’s immortal, he knows he’s pledged his loyalty to god, and that he kills demons. What more could there be to learn? Tons! And the author doesn’t short you on the twist and turns during that discovery. It’s not only a path to self discovery but also the purpose he serves to Heaven and Hell. I believe he’s still learning about that as this book comes to an end, which is why I want more.
Mick, a bartender, enlists Sully to find her friend, not realizing the world she was just about to enter. A word that she is a very significant piece of. A journey she doesn’t refuse to join despite trying to understand everything. The author writes about her well. In a way that anyone who discovers that much about themselves and those around them, would react the exact same way!
Why are Sully and Mick so important?
Well that you will just have to read and find out for yourself!
If you enjoy supernatural fiction, let alone supernatural fiction that involves Heaven/Hell, Lucifer, God, as well as Angels and Demons this book is for you!

I’m a pretty basic person when I choose books to read- and often solely choose them on the title. This series seemed more serious for me when i chose it and phew- I was wrong. I’m often reminded by good stories and novels why I shouldn’t choose them solely on a title or cover. (I usually choose books with the word mate or love or something equally romantic and gushy.) This was a juicy book- with my favorite supernatural elements: demons, angels, and demon hunters? Oh my! The characters were delicious and complex and just wonderful to read about. There was plenty of action to keep me interested and engaged- once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down! I’m so excited for future developments, not only in the storyline, but with the characters as well! I’m eager for the next in the series.

Son of Asmodeus (Heaven and Hell #1) by Barb Jones

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Son of Asmodeus is the first book in the Heaven and Hell Series. Son of Asmodeus was a fantastic read. I loved every minute of it.

John found out what he was over seven hundred years ago. Now he hunts demons so they can’t hurt others. He gets a call that freaks him out and goes to a bar before the meeting to have a drink. There he meets Mick the bartender. The quote I chose for John is: “This represents your friend. Tell Asteroth to leave me the f*** alone. And whatever the bartender is in here, do not touch her either. She’s off limits to your mind. Mick’s a cute girl, the innocent human that she is. Feel me, friend?”

Mick is working the bar when a guy comes in. She gives him a bottle on the house before taking care of the others. She lets Sully know that her co-worker never showed up. The quote I chose for Mick is: “He’s been working here longer than me, so he trained me for this job. But as we worked, we became friends. I gave him the nickname ‘Ace’ because he’s always loved the idea of flying a plane. He should’ve been a pilot or something, but life didn’t deal him those cards. He’s tall, dark, and handsome. The usual for a bartender– just kidding. We’re friends and I just know something’s wrong. I can’t explain it. It’s not like him to not text me or anything for more than a day. We’re close. That’s why I’d be grateful if you could find him.”

Highly recommended for Paranormal Occult lovers.

This book really surprised me. Demons, Angels, and humans and world destruction.

Sully, The Demon Hunter, has fought demons for as long as he can remember. He grew up with adoptive parents whom he loved dearly. At the age of 13, he was sent to a monastery for his protection. He was destined for so much. As the story unwinds and you follow his journey of self discovery, you find yourself wanting to know just as much as he does. It is not an easy journey by any means. He is the son of Asmodeus, a prince of Hell and with that comes danger at every turn.

Can he complete the quest he was born to complete? This was a good read and ket me reading so see what was going to happen and who was on his side and who would betray him.

This was a great start to a new supernatural/paranormal book series. It was nonstop action all the way to the last page; I couldn’t stop until I finished the story. This story had it all, secret agencies, demons, angels, a prophet, and a man just trying to figure out his place in the world that he has survived in for centuries. There are so many more secrets to be unraveled; I can’t wait to read the next book to find out what happens. Sully is a fantastic leading character and I can’t wait to learn more about Mick. I am intrigued to learn more about Sully’s brother Edward and what his future in the tale holds. The story is well written and full of action and adventure with wonderful characters that you will want to follow until their journey’s end.

This is the first book I have read by Barb Jones. I was pleasantly surprised. Anything supernatural is what I gravitate towards, including angels and demons. This book did not disappoint. The characters are very complex and there is a lot of history. Sully is a lone demon hunter, with a past he needs to uncover. He doesn’t know who he is. Grab this book and travel along with Sully as he wrestles with secrets finally revealed. Very good supernatural book about angels and demons, without being overly religious.

John Sullivan (Sully) has always been different. At just the age of 13 he joined the monastery and became the demon hunter he is today. Starting off as an exorcist. One day a child that they thought was possessed entered the monastery, The demon kept calling John his brother. He baited John to follow him to find out why he is so different from others.

Seven hundred years later, John now goes by Sully but still hunts demons. He is sent on a mission by a bartender named Mick to find a missing co-worker and it sets off a whole slew of things. Sully finds out about his birthright. He is the son of a demon named Asmodeus. Little do they know that he is so much more than just that.

Mick is also so much more than just a basic human being. Mick and Sully will have to work together to stop an incoming war between heaven and hell.

This book was non-stop from start to finish. Action was everywhere. Once one fight ends, another starts. Between the demons trying to kill Sully and an organization claiming to be working with the church trying to take him, he has no time to rest. It made the book hard to put down. It also ended nicely with a cliffhanger to leave room for much much more.
