This was an absolutely fun read.
I was laughing throughout the book just imagining what was happening and how someone could get themselves involved in trouble at every turn. No matter how hard she tried Sophie could not keep her nose out of this crime and it seemed that she was proving that curiosity is not always a good thing.
Sophie’s character, and all of the others as well, was so fun and easy to associate with as normal everyday person and someone that I would love to hang out with, can’t wait for the next book.

Wow, this was my first book by R. Weir and the first book I have read from the Jarvis Mann Detective series and now I want to get all of them. I did not realize this was book number 8 in the series but it really didn’t matter, there was enough backstory when it was needed that I was not missing anything I needed to know.

Jarvis is a PI he keeps unfolding this mystery right before your eyes. Every twist and turn in this book has another lead to follow, along with a bunch of really unsavory people.

Mann in the Crossfire is a page turner that kept me reading until the very end.

I love when you can find a book by an author you haven’t read before and then want to read more because of their writing. R. Weir will be an author I watch from now on to make sure I don’t miss a new book.

Sophie Parker returns and there’s another mystery in town when her couponing friend and club member is found dead! Found in the middle of mystery again, Sophie is determined to figure out who could have killed her friend. Could it have been her nemesis?

This cozy mystery, Death of a Coupon Queen, by Jenna Harte is another hit in my book! This is a light-hearted, fun mystery read. Harte does an amazing job developing characters and storyline. This story kept me entertained, made me laugh, and had me turning the pages until the mystery was solved! I love this one as much as the first and can’t wait for the next Sophie Parker mystery!

Death of a Coupon Queen is the second book in the series, Sophie Parker Mystery. It can be a stand-alone book but you may want to read book one to get the subtle details found in the first book. I love psychological murder thriller books but I am starting to like the simple cozy mystery genre. Jenna Harte is an amazing storyteller. Her attention to detail is what makes this story fun and interesting. The characters are fun-loving and personal. Sophie has a mentor who is a coupon queen who just happens to be killed with her shears. I highly recommend this story for a nice book to curl up, get lost, and leave everything behind.

This is an enjoyable and engaging cozy mystery with a great main character in our heroine, Sophie Parker. Sophie is trying to just live a normal life whilst making ends meet, her relationship with her difficult great-aunt has improved and she’s now dating a airplane repo man, AJ. She’s also working part time at the library telling fairy tales, but then she discovers that her coupon tutor and mentor has been murderer. Having already had a close call with murder herself she is reluctant to get involved but is soon back in sleuthing mode once her curiosity gets the better of her. However this new investigation puts not only her career and her relationship at risk but also her life. This is a fun lighthearted read with a gripping storyline and plenty of plot twists that kept me hooked and guessing as to the identity of the murderer. I didn’t realise it was the second book in the series and I read it happily as a standalone story, however I am keen to read the first book as their are references about Sophie’s previous case which had me intrigued.

Cozy mystery is one of my favorite genres. Usually set in a small town, with a heroine being a sleuth, gossip, action, humor and murder – they are usually huge hits with me. Sophie Parker is happy with her part time job trading coupons until she finds out her coupon mentor is dead and she gets tangled in the mystery. She then puts her romance and her job aside and takes it on her head to solve the mystery despite the disapproval of her boyfriend. Will she be able to find the murderer? It is a fun read, and I finished it in one sitting. A great book.

Death of a Coupon QueenDeath of a Coupon Queen by Jenna Harte
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

‘Death of a Coupon Queen’ by Jenna Harte follows Sophie Parker as she finds herself entangled in the murder of Marla Naylor, the reigning ‘coupon queen’ of Jefferson Grove. Harte strikes a great balance between quirkiness and intrigue- what may seem like a wacky premise is perfectly blended with the peculiar events surrounding Marla’s death to form its own new take of the quintessential ‘who dun’ it.’ It is a mystery that the audience will be eagerly turning the pages of the book to see the next piece of the puzzle Sophie finds in her efforts to find the truth.

The bizarreness of a small-town coupon group suddenly with a corpse at their doorstep unsurprisingly gives rise to its own set of compelling and lovable characters. Harte breathes life into her expertly crafted cast- so much so they could be real people. At the end of the book, I felt like I had been living in the tight-knit community of Jefferson Grove- like I could go to the infamous Booty Burgo and pound a few drinks with Junior Junior Mason, the resident landscaper, or peruse the local fair to have a bite of Aunt Rose’s acclaimed huckleberry pie. Having such a vivid set of potential players to the murderous scheme makes the mystery all the more juicier as you try to figure out who on earth killed Marla and for what possible reason.

The highlight of the book, however, is our resident town sleuth Sophie Parker, who often somehow unwittingly finds herself embroiled in deadly plots such as this one. A quick, sharp and bright young woman, Sophie’s endeavours to uncover the next clue is a delight to read about and a sense of camaraderie arises when you learn new things in tandem with her. Beyond her search for answers however, getting to track Sophie’s development throughout the story is a boon. As trickles of her past are revealed as the story progresses, her actions in the present are coloured by this context and readers are given a greater appreciation when she manages to break free of the shackles binding her. Whether it be in regards to her sweet relationship with AJ ‘Flyboy’ Devlin or her tumultuous rivalry with Vivie Danner, the strides Sophie makes to step out of the shadow of her family’s reputation is worth it alone to pick this story up.

All-in-all if you’re in the mood for a captivating spin on a murder mystery that’s set against a bizarre but welcoming backdrop of a coupon-group of all things, then Harte’s ‘Death of a Coupon Queen’ will satiate this desire and then some.

Great cozy mystery! We meet Sophie, whom lives with her great Aunt Rose, working part time at a library and as a bartender, is a suspect when she goes over to her “coupon” mentor Marla’s house, whom winds up dead. With twists along the way, Sophie tries to find out whom would commit this crime. There are so many questions on “Who Done It”. Can I just say that Aunt Rose is the best! This book is entertaining, fun, light with a twist of mystery all wrapped into a great story! Highly recommended!

Cozy mysteries are often one of the favorite comfort genres. Small town feel, characters almost out of Mayberry, gossip, drama, murder and a dash of humor make this a great lighthearted read if you want to try to figure out who took out the Coupon Queen. Marla is found dead in her living room. Who did it? Sophie Parker finds her dead body and gets embroiled in the mystery. She puts romance, her jobs and other items at risk while she does this. Oh, she gets pulled into love triangles of two sisters and a garden that holds secrets. I just can’t say much about the book because you have to read it. It’s so funny and a great read. The characters are very memorable. Aunt Rose and Carl,, Vive and Tracy, Ellie. You have to visit this town. Highly recommend.

I love, love, loved this book! I really wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was but gosh was I surprised. I couldn’t put it down. I am a self-proclaimed “coupon queen” so this just made me laugh so much even though it’s a mystery. I have never read a book by this author before but apparently this is the second book in this series, so I am going to go back and read the previous book. Not that it is necessary to understand this book. It’s not. I just want to read it for the story. I found that the characters, especially the main character, are so relatable. I could envision so many of my friends and even some family members in their places. I highly recommend picking this book up to read. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Sophie Parker is back, she is happily living with her Aunt, even if she is a bit gruff and likes things done her own way, she is working her two part time jobs and still going to her couponing club every week, other than that, she is getting to know her boyfriend between his trips away from town with his airplane repossessions. Just as she thinks that her life is moving forward and getting into a place where it could even improve, she goes to see one of the coupon queens in the group for some extra help and guidance when she turns up and the house is too quiet. As she goes round to the back door and tries to find the woman who lives there, she sees something in the house, so worried as she is when she doesn’t get an answer, she manages to get inside and proceeds to call 911 to report what she has found. When the local police turn up to interview her, she isn’t surprised to see a familiar face, just as they aren’t surprised it is her who has made the call.

As she explains what she found, which was her friend with her coupon shears poking out of her neck in a pool of blood, the police ask her if anything is missing from the house, after that has been dealt with, she is allowed to return home where she can hand her clothes over to the deputy who will escort her. All Sophie can thing about was the gruesome scene and what her aunt and boyfriend will say when she tells them what has happened, she doesn’t have to wait long to find out. As the case progresses, Sophie tries to maintain her normal life, however, in a small town, nothing stays quiet for long and trouble again, just seems to find her.

Will the police be able to find out who has killed the coupon queen and why, or will Sophie be drawn into trying to solve the mystery herself like last time? This is a small town mystery with more questions than answers throughout, there is intrigue, danger and a little romance along the way which will keep you hooked until you too find out the solution to the who, what, where and why.

This was a really fun story. I was gripped from the  beginning until the end. I couldn’t put it down as I wanted to know who was responsible for the murder. There are so many twists and turns and suspects that when you think you have it figured out the author throws another curve ball and it all changes.

Sophie always seems to find herself in trouble. In the last book she was a suspect in a murder and in this book she returns as a witness to a murder.

When Sophie finds her friend Marla murdered in her home the hunt is on for the killer. However things aren’t straight forward and trouble comes knocking on Sophie door again. As Sophie plays detective to find out the truth she puts her own life in danger as she gets too close to the truth.

Can Sophie find out who the killer is before she becomes the next victim? Is the killer someone who is known to Sophie and to Marla? How do all the characters mix and fit together? And can Sophie stay out of trouble long enough to rebuild her life?

Death of a Coupon Queen is the second book in the Sophie Parker Mystery series by new-to-me author, Jenna Harte. I love a cozy mystery, so when I saw this pop up on my recommended book list, I one-clicked, no questions asked. What I found was a an intriguing, well written story, with endearing and somewhat quirky characters.
I realised as I started reading, that this is the second book in the series- and even though it can be read as a standalone, I was intrigued by several references in the story which had happened previously (Book #1)- so I will definitely be going back and reading the first book before snapping up Book when it releases.
So if you love a good cozy mystery, with clever touches, some drama, and action- then you will definitely want to grab yourself a copy of ‘Death of a Coupon Queen’.
Happy reading!

Thank you, Jenna Harte.

I through the book itself was a quick and easy read. I didn’t find it to be too mysterious but I quite liked that about it. It felt like I engaged more with the whole book instead of just becoming invested in the whodunit side of things.

I am one who loves anything of a mystery. People who know the real me know I am in fact a Sherlock Holmes at heart so when I came across this cozy mystery I just had to pick it up and see how the mystery unfolds!

Sophie the the lead in this book, was a wonderful character. She was very strong and I would dare say she could hold her own ground no matter what life throws at her. She is caught in this mystery we have before our hands, when there was a murder of her loving coupon club…which was also in her very own home! Questions arose. Why? how? when?

Sophie wanted answers and she was going to stop at nothing to get those answers. She was very much a girl with a “nothing will stop me now attitude” and strong willed and I loved how she pretty much lead the book. She didn’t back down even when things got really well trouble some or dangerous. She had a secret passion it seemed to get to the bottom of the truth, and to be honest she was rather good at getting the information as the book and plot continued! She truly was an admirable character and I love it when authors portray the skills a female can bring in these sort of situations 🙂

Sophie had to undergo a lot. There was a lot of characters and all seemed to basically be suspects. She had to go through a lot of stuff such as ambitions and could she absolutely trust them? But the main question was up in the air my dear friends, why did the murderer commit the crime? What did they seek to gain from this violent act?

As the story continued I will be honest, I was pretty sure who the murderer was, but what got me was the inner reason to why they did it. I was a bit surprised to that striking conclusion. Needless to say that was a good surprise. It made the book so much more complex and addictive. Though it already was right from the start for me!

All in all, really enjoyed reading this! And to my delight discovered its from a series, so I will defiantly be going back to read the others in the series. This book was great to sit in with my drink of hot coca and relax and get lost in the mystery beforehand!

Highly recommend, if your like me who is a sleuth at heart you will not be disappointed in the least. The author has a great writing method, the book was east to follow, very easy strokes to get to know the characters, and most defiantly very easy to get sucked into and turn those pages like your life depended on it!

Again loved it! Thank you this wonderful author for such a wonderful mystery that I truly enjoyed reading 🙂

Sophie Parker finds herself caught in the middle of a mystery after discovering her coupon group friend murdered in her home. After initially being cleared of being a suspect in the murder, Sophie keeps getting dragged into the mystery through unfortunate circumstances she finds herself in, whether it’s her own curiosity or kindness to others. Despite her best efforts to stay out of trouble, Sophie finds herself caught up in unraveling the mystery as she encounters a variety of potential suspects and risks losing her jobs and possibly her life.

I loved the way the author weaved the story around the quirky characters and totally left me guessing the motive and the murderer until the very end. I found it to be an entertaining whodunit with a bit of sweetness and sass mixed in. Sophie getting unwittingly caught in the cross-hairs of trouble despite her best efforts to stay out of it, along with her kindness and resilience, made her the quiet kind of heroine that doesn’t need false bravado or rescuing; this is my favorite kind of strength in lead female characters. Read this one without having read the first book, so I’m kind of excited to read more about Sophie Parker and the other characters, and looking forward to reading subsequent titles in the series.

A quirky who-dunnit with a comedic edge.
Very well written and easy to read with a FMC that will have you equal parts laughing and frustrated. This is the first book that I have read from this author and I didn’t realise going in that this was the second book in a series. There is enough backstory interwoven into this that I didn’t feel lost but I will definitely be going back and reading the first book. The little town is described perfectly that I could picture all the places and the mystery was not too predictable.
Highly recommend this series.
