Sliding into Home (Playing for Keeps Book 3) by Lauren Fraser is a great contemporary romance

Kia Kamen, a single mother and tattoo artist, is now in control. Although it might be an illusion, it feels like a rather convincing one. Until Jeff Smith shows up by coincidence and reveals that everything was a lie. She is far from being in control of everything. Declare that, of course, he is the father.Jeff ‘Smitty’ Smith, the centerfielder for the San Diego Hawks, is accustomed to playing under pressure. He simply didn’t anticipate having to step up as a father. He might understand how to be a parent, but convincing Kia to take a risk on them is proving to be a little more difficult. Thank goodness he’s a competitive man who doesn’t understand the concept of quitting.

Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a unique romance series. The story really brings excitement into your life. I couldn’t put the book down. As the story progressed, i cant wait to continue the series with the last book.

Throwing the Curve (Playing for Keeps Book 2) by Lauren Fraser is a great sport/ romance.

Peyton Sharp takes great satisfaction in being a decent person and acting morally. How on earth did she get to be at a party with a married man, then? She wasn’t aware that he was married, but nonetheless. Evidently, despite having lived a long life, she was still a moron when it came to males. Ryan Graves, a standout pitcher, has been taught since he first picked up a glove the importance of being a good teammate. He never imagined that would include getting his dishonest teammate out of a problem. He steers clear of romance for a good reason. Now he’s pretending to date a lady who despises him. He was overly preoccupied with her and doubted everything he had held to be significant. He did not sign up for this, though.

Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a unique sports romance series. The story really brings excitement into your life. I couldn’t put the book down. As the story progressed, it made me glad I got the third one in the series.

Everything to Me (Playing for Keeps Book 1) by Lauren Fraser is a great romance story

Since she can remember, Kendall Graves has been in love with her brother’s buddy. Sadly, he has never had the same feelings towards her. She has only ever been his friend’s obnoxious younger sister before now. Pete Saunders, a professional baseball player, never considered that Kendall would persuade him to violate the bro code when he agreed to let her stay with him while she was in town. First rule: Never touch your friend’s or teammate’s sister. Rule 2 is covered in Rule 1. But compared to the awkward young sister he knew, this Kendall is very different. This Kendall is hot, stacked, and really intelligent. Anyone would be tempted by it. And it won’t damage him if his friend is unaware of it.

Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a unique sports romance series. The story really brings excitement into your life. I couldn’t put the book down. As the story progressed, it made me glad I got the second one to get started on it right away.

Sliding into Home: A Secret Baby Sports Romance (Playing for Keeps Book 3)Sliding into Home: A Secret Baby Sports Romance by Lauren Fraser
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book in the Playing for Keeps series. This is a sports romance. It can be read as a standalone even though it is part of a series. The author does an amazing job with the characters. They are so relatable they feel like they are your friends. This story is a second chance romance. It is an emotional story that is very heartwarming.

In this story we are with Jeff and Kia. Jeff and Kia have history. After a one night stand Kia was left with a remind in the form of her son. When she found out she was pregnant she tried to contact Jeff but couldn’t find him.
Fast forward 6 years and Kia has been finding her way. Working as a tattoo artist and raising her son Max alone. Things seem to be heading in the right direction finally. Until her one night stand comes back into her life and the secret of her sons dad is revealed.
Jeff has returned home and is now a coach of a baseball team. He can’t believe his luck when Kia appears. And even though he is shocked at first by the realisation he is a dad, he is determined to be the best and make up for the time he has lost.
The more time he spends with Max and Kia the more he falls in love with them both. His attraction to Kia never left and as their chemistry builds they both need to learn to navigate this new relationship and everything that involves.
Can their relationship work this time or will the pressured of Jeff’s job and the pressure of parenthood put to many obstacles in their way.
This is a fast paced story full of love, family drama, past hurts and jealousy. I loved the characters and little Max really brings the story together. I was totally invested in this couple and wanted them to get their happily ever after

Sliding into Home: A Secret Baby Sports Romance (Playing for Keeps Book 3)Sliding into Home: A Secret Baby Sports Romance by Lauren Fraser
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was so excited to get (Jeff) Smitty’s story, he is one of my favorite characters, due to how sweet he has been throughout the last two books in the Playing For Keeps series! Sliding into Home is all about Smitty finding out that six years ago he had a one-night stand with (Saskia) Kia which resulted in her unexpected pregnancy with Max, a little boy that Smitty met while volunteering at Peyton’s workplace. Peyton is Ryan’s girlfriend; we were introduced to their story in the previous book of this series. Kia runs into Smitty when she goes to the after-school program where the kids are learning how to play baseball by the team’s baseball players, including Smitty, Max’s favorite volunteer. Little did Smitty know that the hot mom would turn out to be Max’s mom and his one-night stand from six years ago. This book is an amazing feel-good story of how a family navigates this huge change in all of their lives. I absolutely love that each new book in this series brings us closer to the side characters, but still allows us to follow along with the prior character’s romances as they continue to grow and blossom. Each and every book has the best, happily ever after, it just warms my heart so much. I am so excited for the next book to come out, I am hoping that we will continue the theme of seeing more of the baseball players find their own romances, because I have fallen in love with so many of them. Be prepared to be hooked from the second you open to the first page of this series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lauren Fraser did it again with the second book in the Playing For Keeps series! I love that this next book in the series, Throwing the Curve, is all about Kendell’s big brother, Ryan Graves. We got to get to know Ryan, Kendell, and Pete in the first book when Pete and Kendell start a fiery romance between the two even though Pete was Ryan’s best friend growing up. This next book starts with us meeting Peyton who shows up at a party, where several of the team’s baseball players are celebrating, with Andy. Little did Peyton know that Andy is married with kids but makes it a regular occurrence to step out on his family to enjoy a fling. When Andy’s wife, Carmella, shows up to the party, Peyton gets a rude awakening, and to cover his butt, Andy tells his wife that Peyton is there with Ryan Graves. This little white lie builds as Andy tells the whole baseball team as well as the team’s PR that Ryan and Peyton are an item. This leads to the two to fake date, but will it lead to a budding romance for Ryan, or will he drop the lie and walk away, cause it’s not like Ryan is friends with Andy, he actually can’t stand the cheating jerk. You will not want to skip this next story in this amazing series, where we not only get to take a closer look into Ryan’s life but also get to follow along with Kendell and Pete as their romance continues to blossom in the background.

Everything to Me (Playing for Keeps Book 1)Everything to Me by Lauren Fraser
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lauren Fraser’s Playing for Keeps series is one of my favorite baseball romance series I have ever read! As someone who grew up playing baseball, I have always been a huge fan of watching major league baseball and love that this series is so realistic! Watching Kendell fantasize about her big brother, Ryan’s best friend, Pete, and pulling all her seductive tricks was just awesome. It is so fun watching these two navigate through the natural pull of sexual tension they have one for the other while trying to respect the friendship between Pete and Ryan, while still listening to the wants and needs of Kendell and Pete’s attraction to one another, will friendship win out or will it be the thrill of a relationship that had been long sought after since Kendell’s pre-teen years? The characters in this story are so realistic, they are excellently written that they could be about real people, that are trying to figure out what’s most important to them. I could not put this book down; I was cheering the whole time for these two characters to their heart’s and forget about everything else that didn’t matter. If you’re a fan of baseball and romance books, then this is the perfect mashup for you!

Guarding the Crease: An Opposites Attract Romance (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 9)Guarding the Crease: An Opposites Attract Romance by G.K. Brady
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wyatt is sent down the minors after being a PR nightmare for his pro hockey team. In trying to work his way back up the big leagues, he has to be on his best behavior. A night out with team owner’s son finds him in the hospital with woman whose life he terrorized as she was in charge of hockey PR. When he cashes in on an IOU for saving her that night, Wyatt and Serena start up quite an odd friendship. However, there is more at play here…his need to keep a clean image, her sneaky assistant, his uncontrollable mother, and the sliminess of her boss (and his son). The more time they spend together, the closer Wyatt and Serena get. But, as secrets come out, will these two be strong enough to withstand the storm?

I enjoyed these characters…as they balanced each other and evened each other out. I really enjoyed the supporting characters and how they were able to see the good in Wyatt when sometimes he couldn’t see it himself. Meanwhile, Serena had her own problems that Wyatt was able to support her through. They healed each other. It was a good story that I enjoyed reading!

Guarding the crease by G.K Brady is the 9th book in the Playmakers series, this is the first book I have read in this series but I will be going back to read the others as I really enjoyed this one. The story follows notorious hockey playboy Wyatt as he tries to make a comeback into his old team, and Serena, a PR professional who was previously responsible for cleaning up Wyatt’s messes. When Wyatt helps her out of a sticky situation and asks for a favour in return, the two end up developing an odd friendship. I really liked this book, I found the two main characters to be likable and felt myself wanting them to have a happy ending, I also hated a few of the supporting characters (in a good way) such as Wyatts mum and Serena’s slimy assistant that I found myself getting really engrossed into their predicaments. I hope that there are further books in this series so I can see them get their comeuppance.

I love this sports romance that gave me all the feels that I love with hockey, spicy romance, family drama, secrets and second chances. I was super excited to get my hands book and it definitely did not disappoint

Serena is a PR Rep for a hockey team..she worked so hard to get where she is at in her career….she is all business when it comes her PR skills and takes her job very seriously. When Serena finds herself in a bit of trouble one night, the one person who came to her rescue at first wished it was not Wyatt Tompkins.. she knows all about him and his off ice shenanigans..and they are not pretty.

Wyatt is a hot shot goalie for a professional hockey team..who is just totally about himself and his inflated ego. The feeling that everyone owes him….but when all of his off ice issues that become a PR nightmare, Wyatt is on the outside looking in and off the team. When Wyatt rescues Serena from an attacked, Wyatt is totally attached right from the beginning to Serena…..but as Wyatt and Serena get to know each other on all levels…..the sizzle happens….

Serena and Wyatt both battle different issues that keep happening. Wyatt battling his way back to playing hockey, keep a clean persona and battle a unruly mother…while Serena battles to keep her job daily over a belittling boss, his shady son and a sneaky assistant. Will Serena and Wyatt be able to stick together when things start falling apart when secrets come out?

Smitty and Kia are both strong willed and fiercely protective. Sometimes, too much is simply too much though. When forced to step back and see what the other sees they may have a fighting chance of happily ever after. Sliding into Home was raw, spicy, and an emotional rollercoaster. Lauren Fraser knows how to dial up the heat, and she did not disappoint!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve read a few sports/baseball romances recently, and Sliding into Home is one of the better ones. The author wrote a wonderful story about two people given a chance to get to know one another & have a redo on life together.
Jeff and Kia have been given a second chance, however it’s not just the two of them anymore. Max is an important part of the equation and all their decisions are made with his happiness in mind.
But where does that lead them?
This is not the first book I’ve read in this series but it’s probably my favorite. Though I do look forward to when the author gives us Gonzo’s story. He makes a good secondary character, but his story has lots of potential.
I’m a sucker for a good sports romance, especially baseball. I love baseball and reading and when the two come together it usually leads to a smile throughout the whole book.
I look forward to more books by this author. They definitely make for some good entertainment.

This is the third installment in this series and they just keep getting better and better with each one! I loved the flow of this one! It is subtle and still hits all the marks. Each of the characters are special in their own right. Kia is a single mom who has made a strong life for herself and her child. Respectable job and wonderful ethics! Smitty is a down to earth player who gets the shock of his life. He takes it in stride and comes out on top. Really they both are just wonderful but not so much that they have some growth in their character. I completely fell into both these characters and enjoyed their emotions right along with them.

I really enjoy all the fun times with Smitty’s baseball brothers! The things they do for him which is also for Max just made me smile! Then there is Max…perfect antics and comments for a young one. He made me smile big numerous times.

Overall another smash hit from this series. This is one of my favorite series! I eagerly look forward to more….maybe Brandon? Or Gonzo?

This is the seventh book in the Nashville Assassins Series, however, it can definitely be read as a standalone. I have read some, but not all of the series and am definitely going to go back and read the ones I have missed after reading this one. I forgot how much I enjoy this series.
This book features Dimitri who is a very talented hockey player. He just wants to play hockey for his dad’s team, the Nashville Assassins. He is in Nashville and ready to accomplish that goal. He lived his life in Russia but definitely kept his eye on the prize.
Austen is ready to lead the Assassins minor league farm team. However she ends up crossing paths with Dimitri.
Dimitri and Austen are very well written characters. They both have a good banter about them and this also was a well written, almost forbidden potential tryst. I loved their banter and the fact that Dimitri believed that their crossing and meeting was fate. I do love this series and the hockey team aspect is something I have truly enjoyed in this series. I definitely recommend this for a good sports romance that is fun to read!

Dimitri is descended from Assassins history with his father playing for them, now Dimitri wants to join the iconic team which means moving the family from Russian back to the United States. All though he loves his family when it is suggested he stay within the players apartments he jumps at the chance to relax on his own and think about hockey.

Austen has been sent by her grandfather to shadow the GM Shellie at the Assassins so she can gain the knowledge and confidence to run the farm team her grandfather has just purchased. Austen is really enjoying her first day when a conversation between her and Shellie has the GM offering her a place in the Players Apartments save going back and forwards while she is shadowing. Austen is thrilled and once settled into the apartment, although one night when a stranger breaks in and she attacks him and his xbox the realisation that the apartment has been doubled booked starts to make sense.

As the story goes on Austen and Dimitri start to have a flow of living together and thus there relationship grows move and they start having feelings for each other. Can Austen overcome her past and can Dimitri prove he is worth his spot in the team.

I loved this story and although I have read some of the series but not all it can also be read as a stand alone book. I loved the interaction of the two main characters and the differences in there backgrounds added a depth to both characters. Austen’s character was heart breaking to read about her background and history but the way the soft side of Dimitri came over was lovely to read and be a part of.

The story is well written and flows beautifully through the ups and downs of these two brilliant characters, the chemistry which jumps off the page enhances the story and drives you along to read what will happen next. I can wait to go back and read some of the stories I have missed and look forward to the next book in the series.

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 9) by G.K. Brady

Guarding the Crease is book nine of The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances. This is a Sports Romance/ Opposites Attract Romance that started out a bit slow and felt draggy in places but once I got about three chapters in things started to get better. I’ve read several other books by this author but I think I’ve missed a couple in this series. I’m definitely going to check out which ones I’ve not read. Wyatt is kind of a jerk at times and I really didn’t care much for him at first . He definitely grew on me. Serena came across kind of snobbish to me at first but the more I read it started to make sense why she came across that way. Wyatt is in self destruction mode and Serena works PR for his ex Hockey team. He is on a self journey of redemption and figuring out who he is and where he fits in. She finds herself in a situation and Wyatt comes to her rescue. Can she help him? These are completely the opposite of one another but can they move past it? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. If you like Sports Romance then this is definitely up your alley. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

This is book 7 in the Assassins next Generation and my first book! That being said, while there is of course connections to previous books, I did not feel like I was missing anything coming in at book 7. The struggles Dimitri and Austen face independently while at the same time supporting each other was great! Their relationship developing throughout was wonderfully built and the comedy relief is hilarious. I will definitely be backtracking to read the other books in this series before the next comes out!

A new to me author, this book is number seven in a series and yet I had no problem understanding the plot and figuring out the players and who they were married/involved with. I know this story and series follows the players but I find it hard to not want/hope that the sisters of Austens also get their stories told.
with that being said, this book in itself is freaking HOT! Dimitry and Austen are a must read. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute spent with them.

His dreams are about to come true now that he’s stepped foor back in Nashville. I only wish I’d read the other six books prior to this story of Dimitri and Austen!

Austin’s discovering her strength and abilities after coming out of a horrific season in life. She survived and is now in a season that lends to her flourishing and getting a happily ever after.

Dimitri is returning to the NHL after playing hockey in Russia. There are some hard feelings on the GM’s behalf thus causing some tension but not as steamy as the tension between him and Austen.

Throughout this journey, the two learn about themselves, one another…they fight feelings and they fight for one another. They fight for their happily ever after despite that plot twist.

Now, to add the others to my TBR and get started reading more of this Assassin’s hockey world.

This book happens to be the first book I read by this author. The story sucked me in from the start. It can be hard when you’re reading a book in a series but I had no problems figuring out the characters. I especially love Austen’s character! What a strong woman to have not only saved herself but also her 4 sisters! I really enjoyed Dimitri’s personality and work ethic. Even though he came in knowing he had to prove himself to get on the Nashville Assassins team, he made sure to be on the ice early and stayed late. Between Austen and Dimitri and how they become friends and moving along to be more then friends with love, some frustration, and openness, really spoke to me.
I hope I can read more books in this series and others by this author in the near future.

I went into this book not knowing it was part of a series. But that is on me! However, despite being slightly confused as I could tell events have happened prior to this book, it did not take away from the fact that it was a fun read! This was a fun hockey romance read about Austen and Dimitri. Their back and forth jests really help carry their emotions and their feelings!

Heavy Shot (Nashville Assassins: Next Generation) by Toni Aleo – Review by Brittany Angel

Heavy Shot (Nashville Assassins: Next Generation #7)Heavy Shot by Toni Aleo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was my very first hockey romance, and I may be a fan for life now. When Dimitri and Austen find themselves in an unfortunate situation, they decide to make the best of it as they can. What then ensues is some of the funniest banter I’ve read in a while. Their relationship slowly goes from strangers to friends to lovers in the best way. By then end, you can’t help but cheer them on in their love for one another. I plan to add the rest of this series to my TBR because I need to know what happens with the other characters in this!
