So, I picked up this book on a whim, needing something lighter than the dark stuff I have read recently and this book did not disappoint!! I read this book in one afternoon, being sick, I decided to use the day to be lazy and try to feel better. There are moments in this book that will anger you, frustrate you, and most of all make you laugh out loud. I love the chemistry between Jeff and Kia, then add Max into the mix and the family dynamic is just fantastic. What I did not realize when I started or even finished this book is that it is book 3 in a series. YAY I am going to check out the others too!!

Heath seems to have it all, a successful career as a baseball player but one thing is missing , someone to come home to …

It’s now off season for Heath and he’s got no real hobbies , most of team mates have families or better halves so he gets a little bored and lonely at this time and his sister , Hannah is about to have a baby , he’s about to become an uncle ❣️

Grace , a woman with heart , she’s not had it easy with her family but she’s not going to jet them get the better of her and she has a heart for animals so she already won me over 🐾❣️

Now Grace and Heath are no strangers to each other , their paths crossed with the bachelor auction which benefitted the animal shelter and she left a lasting impression on Heath but it seems it went both ways but Grace believes she’s beneath him and gives Heath a hard time in winning her over …

I loved watching Heath encourage Grace and he really got me going with his protective nature of Grace where her family was concerned , they really irked me I must be honest !

Besides and Heath and Grace my heart was stolen by our 4 legged sweetheart Maggie and I think she should get the award for match making ❣️🐾🤣

This was a real feel good read and just what my heart needed !

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers #9)Guarding the Crease by G.K. Brady
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

NHL Goaltender Wyatt Tompkins has burned his bridges with the Colorado Blizzards. He is trying to get back his career but is not holding out much hope. His reputation for being a bad boy who is a PR nightmare does not help. At an event he sees Serena Lamber the PR for the Colorado Blizzards, he expects a smile but instead is met with glares. What he doesn’t plan on that night is rescuing Serena from an attack and staying by her side. There is more to what he needs from Serena but he is not planning.

An unlikely alliance turns to a bit more between Wyatt and Serena. Wyatt is seeing his life and career in a new light. Getting a second chance at NHL, Wyatt is learning how to not be the I in team. Serena’s career is rocky too and she is trying to navigate the stormy waters while keeping her blossoming relationship with Wyatt under wraps. Can these two come together and build into something strong or are they too different to make it work?

I enjoyed this one, it was a bit of a surprise the way the story unfolded. I really liked Wyatt and Serena together. Had so many characters I was interested in reading about. I also liked the growth of Wyatt, he goes from being a bit of a tool to a very complex character who redefines who he is. Great read.

Guarding the Crease
By: G.K. Brady

This is another book in the Playmakers Series. I have read several, but not all of the series. I can say that each book functions as a standalone, however, I definitely have enjoyed each and every book I have read and will be going back to read the ones I have missed so far.
G.K. Brady has created main characters who are hockey players, but who have more depth to them than that. Wyatt is definitely one of those characters. In the beginning, it was hard to find anything good about Wyatt, he was one of the bad boys of hockey. But as Brady always does, Wyatt was written with so much depth and so many redeemable qualities found underneath his tough exterior. Additionally, she has created such a lovable character in Serena. Serena is the PR girl who can’t ever see herself falling for Wyatt – she is so responsible, where he is so … Not. Their interactions together and their banter is absolutely so enjoyable. I absolutely loved this story and recommend it to everyone!

As with all stories in this series it can be read as a standalone but I prefer to read them all in order.

Heath and Grace was one of my favorites of this series and I think it had to do with Maggie.

I love how the women while sensitive and have insecurities are also strong willed and stick up for themselves. I really enjoyed watching their story unfold.

Sliding into Home is the third book in the Playing for Keeps Series. This is a Sports Romance that once I started reading I couldn’t put it down till I finished. Although this can be read as a standalone I do suggest reading this series in order as some of characters crossover plus they are just as good as this one. This is Kia and Jeff’s story, he’s a professional baseball player and he lives and breathes the game. She is a single mom who is a tattoo artist barely scrapping by. Things are going ok until she comes face to face with her one night stand from several years back. These two have attraction and there is definitely chemistry between them. Kia has a secret that is fixing to change Jeff’s life . I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

This book is book 3 of this series, but absolutely can be read as a standalone, but I’ve enjoyed all 3 of them and would definitely recommend them.

Six years ago, Saskia and Jeff had a one night stand that created their son, Max. Saskia wanted to tell Jeff, but by the time she found out she was pregnant, Jeff had disappeared. When she meets Max’s baseball coach for t-ball, she is surprised to find Jeff is the man that her son has been telling her so much about. Jeff is surprised to see Saskia again after so long, and even more surprised to learn that he has a son he didn’t know about. While the pair get to know each other, and Jeff gets to know his son, there are many things to sort out, including how to make their relationship work for the long haul.

With some steamy scenes, an adorable kid, and a guaranteed happily ever after, this is a great book, and a quick read. I didn’t want to put it down!

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers #9)Guarding the Crease by G.K. Brady
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wyatt Tompkins is in a slump, using his status as a NHL Goalie just a little too much so when his antics are no longer fun and hindering his career he spirals into a slump. With no team anymore and not knowing what he can do to bring him back into the NHL he decides to go out and have a drink with his cousin, Noah. That night changes his life forever.

Serena Lambert has her career on the incline, PR Director of one of the top NHL teams wanting her savvy skills to take her higher until one night she is thrown into the path of the most infamous hockey player she has ever met but as she gets to know him, he starts to work his way into her heart.

When Wyatt asks Serena to help him improve his image, she is reluctant at first but over time the chemistry and attraction is too much to ignore but when two personalities are that different can they find the line in the sand to be together.

I loved this story and another great addition to the series, although this is part of the series you can easily read this as a standalone book.

I must admit when you first meet Wyatt you do think what a complete waste of space, he has caused this on himself and he needs to grow up, but as they story moves along you understand and get to see the real person inside and grow to love him, I know but you do. Serena is a brilliant sassy, independent strong woman, who takes no nonsense from him and calls him on his behaviour which is brilliant to read.

The story was well written, and the main characters really drive the story along which enhanced the reading experience and I was frantically diving in to finish and see what happens in the end. I can’t wait to read more in this series and by this author.

This is book 2 in the Ladies of the Links series however it can be read as a stand-alone. This is a second chance romance between Christy and Ryan. It’s very cute and quick. Christy has struggled for 6 years to be a good mom to her twin girls with the help of her very talented (and psychic bff) before running into Ryan again. They quickly realize the feelings are still there but don’t want to rush into anything since the girls are there to consider. Cute humor, sweet moments and adorable 5 year old twins make this a super adorable read!

I read this as a stand-alone and felt pretty comfortable right away, though this author held my attention from the first page so I’m sure I’ll be going back to the first book now! I enjoyed the small-town feel of this book with the added sports, drama, and steam to make it extra interesting. Though there were a couple of moments the story kind of stalled out for me, I enjoyed it overall and will be continuing the series. I will definitely be on the lookout for this author more in the future. Give it a chance and you’ll fall in love with the characters!

Ladies of the Links #2 is part of the Ladies of the Links Series. It is a Sports Romance story that centers around the characters of Christy and Ryan. Christy’s job as pool manger allows her to spend extra time with her twin girls. As a single mother she loves being able to work while also being able to raise her children in a safe environment. When the club gets a new member by the name of Ryan, Christy’s life suddenly becomes very complicated. There is a chance that Ryan could expose the secret that she has been hiding for years. Especially since Ryan becomes suspicious when he looks at the twin girls who not only bare striking similarities to himself, but each girl bares his namesake. He quickly realizes that this must be more than pure coincidence and suspects that he is the father to the twin girls. This was an interesting storyline and I had to continue reading to see what would happen to Christy and Ryan. I became very invested in their lives, in their backstory, and in their future. I needed answers to all the questions that came to mind. What will become of Christy if her secret is revealed? What will Ryan think of her? Will she ever be able to live down the gossip? Would Christy and Ryan rekindle whatever it was that they once had? I enjoyed how the story flowed almost as though it was written as a diary, and I was getting inside someone’s most personal thoughts and feelings. I highly recommend!

Christy does a terrific job as the pool manager and enjoys spending time with the kids throughout the summer months to make sure that all activities are enjoyable and safe. She enjoys spending more time with her daughters because she is a single mother of twins. She receives the surprise of her life from the club’s newest member.

This was a great read…..this is Book 2 in this series and this is my first book reading from this author. I will definitely be circling back and adding Book 1 to my TBR and already looking forward to what this author has in store next!

The story gave me all the feels that I love about sports romance….second chances, friendship, banter, secrets and sizzle. I loved the characters in this book and I was definitely rooting for Christy and Ryan.

When Christy is faced with a new member of the club she works as a pool manager..she finds she is faced with none other than Ryan, her high school sweetheart that left her broken a few years ago. Ryan never stopped loving Christy….looking for a second chance to reconnect. Will Christy’s secret tear them apart again more than ever?

I definitely would recommend this read and find out!! Great story.

Not only do I love Bree Kraemer but also the premise that made me laugh at how cute it is that I had to get it.

Heath Bailey is a professional baseball player with a lot of loving friends and family. His team also won a championship. The only thing he does not have is the attention of the girl that he likes.

In his efforts to see her, he adopts a dog from the local shelter.

Grace Dyer, the woman that Heath is trying to get the attention of, was not a big fan of him when they first met. She helped organize an event at the animal shelter and thought Heath to be cocky and arrogant. Seeing him again, her view on him has changed but she doesn’t believe that a relationship between them would work.

With this hilarious premise, how could I not read it? I knew I was going to be in for a treat and I was not disappointed. The meddling family aspect was great and the relationship between Grace and Heath just made me swoon.

This part of a sports romance series. I do not read this series much, though I do enjoy them whenever I do. Books do not have to be read in order, however, after reading this, I plan on reading the previous books.

Guarding the Crease is the ninth book in The Playmakers series by G.K. Brady. It is a contemporary sports (hockey) romance with opposites attract, drama, angst, family, friendship, teammates, banter, humour, emotion, sweet details, character growth and development, and finding love unexpectedly.
I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy this book to begin with because from what I thought I remembered of Wyatt from previous books, I hadn’t particularly liked him- so I was worried that I would hate him and his book. But, surprisingly, he won me over.
This is a bit of a slow-burn story that I had a little trouble settling into to begin with. I found parts felt like they were too slow, and made the story feel like it was lagging/dragging. But once I found ‘my groove’ and the pace picked up a bit, I enjoyed the ride. I have missed a few books in this series between this the last instalment I had read, so I might need to go back and catch up before continuing with any new additions.

Thank you, G.K. Brady!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Guarding The Crease is Book Ten in The Playmaker Series. It is a steamy sports romance that centers around the characters of Wyatt and Serena. Wyatt is a famous NHL goaltender who is a bit self-centered, egotistical, and used to getting his own way. Along comes Serena, a tough cookie in her own rights who is fierce, smart, strong, and determined. As PR Director of the Colorado Blizzard’s, she needs to be driven and not put up with any flack. She also knows Wyatt’s reputation so when he needs her help, she does not expect to empathize with him or his situation. However, as the two start to spend time together she sees another side to him. Serena now sees why Wyatt acts the way he does and before long the two are falling hard for each other.

This book was well written with an interesting storyline and great characters. Wyatt initially comes across as a bad boy, and an unlovable jerk. As his story unfolds, we see the reasons behind his behavior and start to see another side of him. Serena is to credit for some of his changes because she does not put up with his irresponsible behavior. She is tough as nails, strong, feisty, and did not back down from any challenge. It was easy to root for Wyatt to wise up and change his ways because of the love of a good woman. I wanted Serena to be the one he realized was going to be there for him and not give up on him. This book was full of angst, drama, hope, second chances, passion, and love.

For Kia Kamen, seeing Jeff “Smitty” Smith again changes everything. Five years ago she had a one night stand with Jeff and that night had her raising her son for the last five years without being able to locate his dad. Now he is the coach of her son’s baseball team.

Jeff cannot believe he is a dad and that he missed the first five years. He has every intention of being part of Max’s life and Kia is wonderful, feelings for her begin to arise again and as they explore what they have it is a bit of a roller coaster ride because the feelings they both share for one another is intense. This new couple have to figure out what they are building while being mindful of the fact that every decision for the future has to be the right move for Max.

Max is a hoot, he brought a lot of laughter to the story. What I really liked about this book is that their relationship has hiccups and they are believable ones. I enjoyed this book a lot.

This story is all about the redemption of the main character and his relationship with a certain individual. For me, Wyatt is the one that really made this story. Guarding the Crease is a slow burn sports romance tale where opposites attract.
There is a lot of character development in this book. The Playmakers sports series is full of bad boys. Just what everyone wants.
This is Wyatt and Serena’s story.
NHL goaltender is a bad boy and does what he wants, and he is about to lose it all. It seems he is about to eat humble pie in a big way. When I was first reading Wyatt, I thought I am not going to like him and it’s true I didn’t. BUT over time I enjoyed watching the cocky no care man take a good long look at himself. As the layers unfolded and he changed his ways it was hard not to liked him. Who knew beneath that wild veneer there was a complex man with a good heart.
Serena’s the strong, sassy and savvy PR with skills and the last thing she wants or needs is to be around him. A kick in the pants, some tough love and she would be on her way. Wrong! Turns out there may have been something worth saving. She just had to find it first. Serena was a tough cookie I was on the fence about her, but we soon found our way together.
At times I found things a little predictable and had me wanting more but I did enjoy the story. It has an engaging plot, and I did enjoy the witty humour, banter and antics as well as the flirtation between the MC’s.
If you really like sports romance, then give this book a try.

This was a grand slam of a story, no pun intended. As with the first two books, this was an easy, fast, and enjoyable read! The author creates likable characters and Heath and Grace are no exception.

The attraction between Heath and Grace is undeniable. Heath, for a superstar athlete, is such a worm and genuine character and I loved seeing a softer side to a very “manly” character. Grace has a heart of gold but doesn’t feel “good enough.” Can Heath break down her walls?

I’ve loved this series and the flow to her stories. This one has it all, sweetness, tension, steam, and wonderful characters and storyline!

I loved this one for so many reasons: Colorado, Denver, mentions place I know off and have been. Oh my goodness, the sparks between these two had me chuckling even though the way they came together was a serious matter. Serena gets attacked outside a fundraiser by a douc bag and Wyatt is her hero. The problem is that he’s her PR nightmare. These two had me rolling. They were attracted by didn’t want to go there because of prior history. Well, because of their history, Serena felt it wouldn’t work. Didn’t see that on who the attacker was, Serena needed Wyatt to help her resolve the problem at work. Wyatt needed her help getting his mom off his back. Oh yeah, and he wanted back on the team. They have misadventures, drama, and other items as the story goes on. I love the way this author writes. You are drawn in and totally engaged right from the start. It is a quick read. The characters are totally easy to relate to. A fun romance that should be on every romance TBR list.

This book is book three of the series. It can be read as a standalone but you don’t want to miss this series.

Heath has everything he could want. Except someone to share his life with. Of course there is one person he’d like to get to know more but she’s not his biggest fan. Another meeting between Heath and Grace may just change her mind though. Not sure that a relationship could work between them, Grace tries to push him from her mind. What will happen between these two?

This is such a good book. Much like all the other books by Bree Kraemer that I’ve read. You won’t be disappointed. It’s well written and the characters are great. You won’t want to put it down!
