My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a fast paced, rather dark and intense thriller, which had me hooked from page one. A real page turner of a novel, the storyline focuses on the idea that a ‘killer gene’ can be passed down through the generations of a family. The main character, Troy Cullen comes from a very dysfunctional family which has kept him from, “the normal integration with society”. However, it’s the knowledge that his ex girlfriend Veronica is pregnant that causes Troy’s life, and mental state to spiral out of control. Whilst Troy plots to “do unto others as they have done unto him”, Veronica looks into his family’s past. Veronica is shocked when she finds the ‘killer gene’, in Troy’s family, and must decide what action to take, knowing that her unborn child could also carry this gene. Meanwhile, Troy’s plans result in an epic showdown! This is an emotional rollercoaster of a read, with an intriguing storyline which kept me gripped throughout. It can be difficult to read in places due to the sensitive issues raised, but I felt engaged with the main characters and immersed in the story.

When Krysta is kidnapped, Kasper does everything in his power to get her back.

Third in its series, Saving the Bellydancer is a likeable read that gives you the mystery, thrill, drama, and romance. Cutter and Zarifah are thrilled with the chemistry they have between them and when her ex storms in all bets are off. I enjoyed this read, enjoyed watching the story bloom and was pleased with the ending. Perfect read if you are trying to escape but not escape for days into a book!

I read this as a standalone—as with most series, it would probably be better to read the series in order, but I enjoyed the novel anyway. It’s full of suspense and thrilling moments, I couldn’t turn the pages quickly enough, and it really kept me on my toes the whole way through. A fun read.

This story was much darker than what I normally read. Overall, I enjoyed the book. It is an edge of your seat, fast paced book. The author jumps right into the story of the main character, without any preamble. This was my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more by him in the future.

This is a first book in a series about Hunter – a doctor and head of a hospital. It is a love story… one between Hunter and Selma. Both are afraid to get close because of past relationships gone wrong. But when Selma finds herself in a third world country alone, pregnant and sick – she hopes that Hunter will be there to help her. I enjoyed the story line – the one of helpers helping helpers and going against the odds for love/friendship. At times, I got distracted by the story line with the background stories. But all in all, a good romance read!

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up. I never hesitate to pick up this author’s books as I know that I am in for an adventure. This book is no different. This is a well written story where the author used details to make the story come to life. The characters pulled me into the story from the start. They took me on an adventure of new worlds and survival of a human race is at risk. I enjoyed watching the growth of the plot as well as the characters. It added to the enjoyment and entertainment of the story. This is a fast paced story that I found hard to put down. I enjoyed the adventure and I highly recommend this book.

This book is book three of the series. It can be read as a standalone but honestly book three is so good just start with one and work your way through. I need to go back and read the other two. This book pulled me in right from the start. I was so interested in the dynamics of the characters right from the jump.

Krysta has only truly loved one man her whole life. Too bad that went south really quick. To make matters worse, he’s her brothers best friend so not only does she have to keep it a secret, she still has to see him from time to time. Kasper knows he messed up all those years ago. That doesn’t change how he feels about Krysta and always has. Keeping the secret hasn’t been easy but as soon as some bad stuff goes down, his only option is to fess up. Can he get Krysta’s forgiveness or is all hope lost?

This book was intense. Quite the rollercoaster of emotions! I couldn’t put it down. I read it in one sitting. Definitely some suspense and mystery to keep you on your toes. I highly recommend giving this book a chance!

This book was a great read, but a long one. It had something much going on, it could have almost been two books in one. The characters were amazing and really thought out. Hunter Montgomery and Selma Bryant have their ups and downs, but in the end can they put those differences aside, and safe their patients. Will their past, be their demise? This is a must read to find out!

I struggled with getting into this book, not because it wasn’t well written or the characters were bad, quite the contrary. The flow of this book is not something I’m used to so it took me a few chapters to acclimate myself to it. There were also so many different characters and code names and storylines to keep up with that I found it possible to be easily confused from time to time.
While I did not hate this book, it wasn’t a favorite for me, but I would absolutely give this author another chance to see if it was just this particular book or her writing style in general that isn’t my forte.

What do you do when you fall for your best friends little sister? For Kasper, it’s have a hidden relationship until reality slaps him in the face at which point he breaks both their hearts, walking away. Six years later, Krysta
still hates Kasper for what he did. At least that’s what she claims.

When trouble comes for Krysta, the truth must come out, letting the chips fall where they may in order to save her. Kasper plans to fight for Krysta, prove to her she is it for him. His timing couldn’t be worse though. Will Krysta be able to forgive Kasper? Can she open her heart to him again? Or will.she continue down the path she had put herself on?

While this is the third book.in the series and is able to be read as a standalone which wish I had read them in order. The character carry over and the histories.hinted at would probably add the book. The story is easy to follow and you don’t need the background for the.story to flow well? Just a personal preference. The book is well written and I would suggest giving it a read.

This book has so much going on…and it was hard to put down. It is quite a long read, so be prepared!

After losing his partner, Dr. Hunter Montgomery throws himself head-first into his job. When a face from his past enters his operating room, he is comforted by seeing Dr. Selma Bryant. They easily fall into a comfortable rhythm of working together. After a couple of years, they begin dating. But, when Selma runs into her abusive ex, she runs away by taking a humanitarian mission overseas. What happens next is something that had every ounce of my attention. An infectious disease begins spreading, it becomes apparent that something isn’t right and Hunter and his team will needs to get to the bottom of it before more people die. The virus begins to infect those around them, and both Selma and Hunter are forced to confront their pasts. Can they survive the virus? Can they survive against those working to keep them apart?

I enjoyed Hunter and Selma’s characters. They are both hard working and wanting to do whatever they can to help those around them. Once they get past the issue that drove them apart before Selma left…you can see that they will do anything to protect each other. However, some people are working against them at every turn. This book had so much going on…from secret military/medical missions, to bioterrorism, to vengeful exes, and there was even some romance. Overall, a good story that I found myself engrossed in until the end.

I went back and forth if I wanted to read Chat Room with a View. I liked the synopsis, but it also sounded kinda creepy. I ended up giving it a try, because I kept coming back to it… I had a hard time getting into this book. I really liked the plot of the story, but I felt it was a little much. It got pretty dark and twisted in places, so a little of a warning on that for readers who are iffy. I also felt like there was too much psychological issues… like every main character seemed to have something…. off… about them- paranoid, dangerous, killer, bipolar, schizophrenic, depressed, something. Not all are clearly identified, but the author did a wonderful job giving us a view into their feelings and actions, which I was happy about. It gave more detail and depth to the book. The bark started dark, and seemed to get worse and worse… It was like watching an episode of Law and Order SVU mixed with 13 reasons why. There was just so much trauma and bad things going on. I did like how it addressed the nature vs nurture topic, and whether some things are learned behaviors, or genetic. Makes you think and wonder…

Fear Inc.: Volume ThreeFear Inc.: Volume Three by Melinda Valentine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read by Melinda Valentine, the title had me intrigued so I thought I would give it a try after reading the synopsis. While this is technically the third book in the Fear Inc series I wasn’t confused or lost on anything. Each book is a standalone but the characters from Volume one and two are both in this book. This is a dual perspective book, from Krysta and Kasper. Krysta is the younger sister of Paxton “Tank” from book two, seven years ago she and Kasper started a secret relationship that ended when she revealed to him that she was pregnant with his child. Kasper is Tank’s best friend, they both work for Max from book one, at Fear Incorporated.
The book starts with a flashback to six years earlier, she was happier than ever with Kasper but after a week finally had to tell him she was pregnant but was hopeful. Kasper being known as a lady’s man reacted very badly to being told he was going to be a father, leaving Krysta no choice but to walk away from the relationship. Because of Tank and Kasper’s friendship they remained in each other’s orbits. After a traumatic even in which Krysta saves the lives of her brother and Cori, his girlfriend, she struggles in her healing journey. She’s been dating Bentley, an overall good guy, but he doesn’t give her butterflies in her stomach or make her smile when he calls. After Krysta shows up at Fear Inc to visit her brother Kasper later sees her at a restaurant getting lunch with her ex from high school, forcing himself to stay civil he confronts them forcing them to say goodbye. Following Krysta to the parking lot he can’t stop himself as he walks up to her kissing her pouring the past six years of longing into the kiss. Even after all this time she is still the only woman he has ever truly loved and he decides in that moment that he will do whatever it takes to get a second chance with her, a real one this time no hiding it and no secrets.
What happened to their baby? How will Kasper react to finding out Krysta is seeing someone? Will they ever get their second chance? The world the author creates was wonderful, but the characters were amazing. The characters feel so real that when they hurt you can feel their pain leaping off the pages. At only 148 pages this book was a great weekend read and I look forward to going back and learning about Max and Paxton’s stories in volume one and two.

After six long years will Kasper and Krysta get their happily ever after? When Krysta was a teenager she fell in love with her brothers best friend. Rather than ruin a good friendship they kept their relationship secret. After seeing the love of his life be thrown into the back of a van, Kasper knew it was time to fess up to what she truly meant to him. I enjoyed this book and was able to read it in one sitting. This is the fourth book in the series. I unfortunately did not read the rest of the series when I picked out this book. However, I had no problem getting sucked into the story and getting to know the characters. I’m sure it would have been even better to read the whole series in order but sometimes it just doesn’t happen. The author writes in a way that you can feel like you’re in the locations described in the book. All of the characters in the family and the author’s world building creates a story you can’t get enough of.

I really enjoyed getting to know Tripp who has a secret love for Soleil, his younger sister’s best friend. But things aren’t so easy when Soleil wants nothing to do with him. When Soleil need help to find out the truth about her past and requests help from Red Cage, it brings some dangerous consequences that Tripp and his family’s business help work through for Soleil.

I can’t lie, this was a hard one for me. At first anyways. I am part of my local fire department as an EMR and all the medical stuff just felt very real. I cried every time I read 3 sentences at about 17% of the book. I didn’t know if I could get past it. But I pushed past it and I ended up really enjoying the storyline and the complexity of the characters. I laughed as well as cried, rejoiced with the wins and got angry when the sinister plans came to light. I will be reading more and I highly recommend!

Straight for the Kill (Benoit and Dayne Mystery Book 3) by Winter Austin. OMG. I loved this book and I think I may have a new favorite author! I have loved every book in this series and while I recommend reading them in order they can be read as stand alone books. This is the story of Elizabeth Benoit who is fairly new at being a Sheriff but not new at the Sheriff’s department. Deputy Lila Dayne is a deputy sheriff and she and the sheriff work well together. When a new murder happens and it brings back bad memories of a few cold cases they have Deputy Payne and Sheriff Benoit take notice. One of those cold cases was the murder of Sheriff Benoit’s best friend who is also the sister of one of Benoit’s Deputies. This new case is causing a lot of bad memories to come to light and the previous sheriff is tied to them all. Can Sheriff Benoit solve this case before more innocent people die and can she finally put away the old sheriff. Cleaning up the Sheriff’s department is her goal but if she can solve murders at the same time that’s even better. Be prepared to read this book in one sitting, its that good!

Crimes from a quarter-century ago come full circle. It becomes a battle of vengeance versus justice, as both heroes and anti-heroes race against time. This has its crazy good moments and its not so good moments. I liked the idea of the story but the delivery left me with a lot of thoughts. I struggled to stay focused in the middle and actually keep reading after that. There are so many times I thought “what is wrong with these characters?” because they keep starting sentences telling someone information then just run away after the first few words. Does the Sheriff even know this town and its occupants? Why is a Deputy running the show and telling the higher ups what to do and how to act? Some of this one I understood but not her mean streak, secrets and just overall pushiness to her senior officers and others. The ending felt like the author was going for too much shock factor and trying to tie loose ends up that just don’t make sense. I did mention good moments and those were the beginning while trying to figure out the original murder. I thought this book is going to be good! The ending also brought action, suspense and drama that really picked the pace back up.

Overall this is an okay story. It held my interest for a bit but mostly I just wanted it to end. I have not read the other books in this series. Maybe that would have helped with some of the actions of the characters.

Fear Inc: Volume 3 by Melinda Valentine – Review by Jessica Stone

So if you cannot tell by the title this is book number 3 in an ongoing motorcycle MC romance series. It’s the first novel I’ve read from this author but I do believe now I will be going back to read the first two, but I don’t personally feel like you have to read the first two books to enjoy this one. There are characters brought in from previous books who spark intrigue but nothing to confusing.

Krysta is young and dumb and in love with her older brothers best friend, recipe for disaster right? They try and try but as all good things, somethings got to give, thus a steamy relationship begins between Krysta and Kasper. But as the going get tough, the tough(Kasper) get gong, when Krysta unexpectedly gets pregnant, young dumb and in love, Kasper drops her like a sack of potatoes, breaking not only her heart but her trust.

Fast forward 6 years in the future, Krystas finally moved on, though never able to forgive or forget her heated past with Kasper she’s engaged and … happy….
As life progress and Kasper has grown he’s finally ready to be the man for Krysta that he couldn’t be all those years ago, which is great for him, but Krysta is not so easy to forgive the hurt she suffered from him. Will she ever be able to? Can they have a relationship or will life, her brother and the MC come between what always been simmering between them.

I feel like this book focuses a lot on Krysta and jaspers relation ship but there is a little action/drama between them and a rival family who have cause issues in the past that throws a little fun twist in there. I love the macho, I won’t let anyone hurt you, protector vibes.

I think that the chemistry between the characters was fantastic, Krysta is a wonderful intelligence, strong willed FMC with a head on her shoulders and the brains to not only know she deserves better but demand it.
Kasper… started off as kind of a dingus in my book, he really dropped the ball with his whole, I’m not meant to be a dad, can’t own up to his choices/consequences thing and when he first started to “pursue”, admit feelings for Krysta again I was not in his corner, but as the story progressed, he redeemed himself and I now approve.

Wonderful read, it’s steamy, fun, playful, heavy at times, has a side of action, there’s more than a few gasp worthy moments, 100% worth a quick read. This author knows what she’s doing, 10/10 would recommend this series if you’re new to MC romance type books, this will suck you in!

This is not my first book by this author but it has just become one of my favorites. I have enjoyed this author’s books from the first one I picked up. This is a well written story where a young female is killed in the same manner as a previous female. On top of that Elizabeth’s sister turns up missing. This is where the story picks up and takes off. The suspense and twists and turns are like no other. They had me turning pages fast just to see what would happen next. This is a fast paced story that is not only hard to put down but one you don’t want to miss. The characters are relatable and brought so much to the story. I really enjoyed this suspenseful mystery. Chatroom with a View is a story with a ton of twists and turns. The main storyline is about Troy and the idea that he inherited a gene that makes him evil like his father and grandfather. The story starts out with a grisly scene in a cabin in the woods. It then morphs into Troy getting revenge on two girls who bullied him in high school while a psycho girl falls for him and is intent on making him belong to her. Through it all, he has a great friend in Stitch who helps him through many unfortunate events. This book is a litte far fetched and at times seems like there is just too much going on, but overall the story line is interesting and the characters are well developed.
