An excellent debut novel! I absolutely loved the characters. Ellawyn is relatable, kind, and all-around someone I can imagine being friends with. Beckett is charming, thoughtful, and just perfect for Ellawyn. The other characters, though minor, add extra elements of emotion to the story. The small town vibe that makes up Quimby Grove is exactly what I needed from this book! The characters kept my heart in this book, but the drama and twists left my brain wanting more and more. There were a few inconsistencies in the story, hence the 4-star rating, but I am looking forward to reading more about this small town and from this author!

Wow! What a read this was. I really am at a loss for words but wanted to try and get my thoughts out while still fresh and I can’t even form a cohesive sentence without gushing about how great this story was.
This author draws you right in and you are taken through the emotional ups and downs and loops until you are trying to turn the page and there is no more pages left. I will be reading more by this author and cannot wait for the second in this series.

I’m always up for a best friend/little sister romance and then author throws some suspense in the mix, you know you will love it! She does an amazing job right from the beginning grabbing our interest and drawing you in quickly. The characters are easy to connect to and you love them from the start. This my first read by this author and I’m in lust with this book and can’t wait to read more of this amazing series.

Wow just wow I’m not even sure what to say because this book might have left me speechless. But here’s my thoughts, you you’re looking for a story to keep you on your toes and the edge of your seat but also give you all the emotions you could think of go one click this bad boy. From start to finish I had no idea how things would go and I loved every minute of it. The characters are complex and relatable, they simply pull you into a world you’ll find it hard to leave at the end. It’s well written and paced nicely, the characters will stay with well after you reach the end. Five huge stars and highly recommended!

The Mastermind is a great book. I loved reading it. The way the characters are developed and the way that past traumas brings them close. The need to protect and the yearning for something you can’t have. I really enjoyed reading this book and can not wait to read the rest of the series.

I absolutely loved Finding Starlight from the beginning. We start with the scene of Ellawyn escaping her abuser and running from all she’s known in hopes of a safer existence. She lands in Quimby Grove and soon discovers Starlight Books. The owner, Benji, and his grandson, Beckett, become a family to Ellawyn and allow her to become herself again. Unfortunately, Ellawyn soon attracts a stalker and she and Beckett work to keep her safe. This book covers many topics such as abuse, cancer, and death. I was not expecting so many tear jerking moments from this read. I’m excited for book 2 in the series.

Devils breath was such a good read! Cassius is AMAZING and he’s seriously the best. Sera has been dealt the life of crime. Her dad sucks and he’s money hungry. Sera has a tough decision to make..will it be her dad or the person she’s falling for? This book has suspense, crime and some spice! We all love spice lol at least I do. I give this book 5 stars because it kept me interested from the first page. And it was one of those books where you don’t realize how many pages you’ve read because it’s THAT good. First, I want to say, I love the main character’s name, Ellawyn! Shannon Nikole delivers a page-turning story in Finding Starlight. I was drawn in quickly from the very first page and couldn’t put it down. The story has romance, heartache, twists and turns, suspense, and drama all rolled into one. I did feel like some elements of the story were rushed while others were kind of left for the reader to draw their own conclusions. But, overall, Finding Starlight was a great start to a series. The main characters were well thought out, realistic, and relatable. I found myself wanting to transport myself to Quimby Grove to become friends with Ellawyn, Beckett, Benji, and Max! This book definitely contains some triggers such as domestic violence, stalking, assault, and terminal illness. But, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for something to stir up emotions; sadness, love, fear, anger. Finding Starlight has it all.

This book was great from beginning to end. I love the friendship Remi has had with his closest friends since they were so young. Those boys will always have each others backs. Remi has grown up to accomplish anything he put his Mind to no matter what it is. He’s a very rich man who still loves the simple things life has to offer. Remi has come back to his hometown for business and aside from Audri being there, so are so many other memories he may not want to remember. This book kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next. I highly recommend this book and am Glad to have stumbled across this author. Cannot wait for more!

This was a wonderful debut novel by the author! From the first page it hooked me in and I couldn’t stop reading until the final page. I found it a well written story with well-developed characters, and I absolutely love the name Ellawyn or Ellie for the main character. You could really relate to the characters in the story, they weren’t perfect and I thought the author did a fantastic job of show realistic reactions to the different events in the story. There was a nice balance of mystery, suspense, and romance throughout the storyline. The small town vibe felt spot on and it seems like such a wonderful place to visit. I loved the interactions between Ellie and Benji and how sweet they were together and it was a pleasant surprise at how steamy the relationship between Ellie and Beckett got. I am so excited to read the second novel coming out later this year!

It was so easy to fall in love with the characters in this book. Ellawyn had gone through so much, and she really had to stop and figure out how to take care of herself, at the same time she was learning how to let people back in. Beckett was such a gentlemen throughout the whole story, he never once pushed Ellie, but always made sure he was there for her. And of course we cant forget about Benji. He might have been my favorite. He took Ellie in when she first arrived to town, and of course introduced his grandson Beckett to her.
TW: domestic abuse, stalking
I think the recovery one has to go through when they are a victim of abuse is very difficult to understand let alone write about and i think that Shannon did a great job. She was able to showcase Ellie’s fear in a way that was understandable to someone who has never experienced abuse in their life. How to can be hard to move forward, but even when you do you might still have a set back from time to time. Its just one more thing to work through.
Will definitely be reading more from the author and I cant wait for Quimby Grove #2.

Romance with a thrilling twist This was brilliantly written. Remi and Audri are amazingly characters – well developed and with underlying flaws that made them so real and relatable. The story is multilayered with suspense and drama that kept me vested right until the end. Starts as a best friend’s sister romance but moves in to so much more. A strong first book in the series (can be read as a stand-alone) and I can’t wait to read more about the Waterfyre Men.

The Mastermind : A Brother’s Best Friend Romance (WaterFyre Rising Book 1)
I am once again amazed by a first time author and their debut. I was hooked from the very beginning and had a hard time putting it down. I dropped my kindle on my face a few times because I had to keep going.
This book had a little bit of everything and several twists that I didn’t come close to expecting which may have made me enjoy it that much more since so often books can be predictable.
Remington and Audri are more than perfect together. They had a lot to deal with, more than the normal couple to get to their moment.
The sparks were flying from my kindle as I read the beginning of Grayson’s house warming party, the description of the car was perfectly detailed and just wow.
There is so much more I could say but won’t since most of it pertains to certain pivotal moments. What I will say is be ready to be surprised, there is nothing typical about this book.
This is an author I will be looking forward to reading again in the future.

I love a story that draws you in. This is just that story. Remington is not only dangerous, he has a past that is about to catch up with him. Audri is also hiding secrets, yet she is up beat, creative as well as cautious. One is a sister, the other is her brother’s best friend. Neither one of them wants or desires a romance or the commitment that lies in the waiting.There you have it! No Spoilers! That is all I needed to read this suspenseful romance. The story is fast paced and keeps you reading until the very end. Leaving you wanting so much more from this author and this new series. Every emotion will be brought forth in this story. Just Know this is a must read. I can’t wait for the next in this series.

What a lovely feel good read. We follow Ellawyn as she leaves a very toxic and abusive relationship, not only leaving her ex behind but also her family. Quimby Grove is the little town that she stops at and Starlight is the name of the shop where she hides herself daily. Hiding, healing and finding another family in Benji, owner of Starlight. Beckett returns home to look after his grandfather. The relationship between him and Ellawyn is not always smooth but you find yourself following the path that the author lays for you. The characters are well written and grow with the story. I enjoyed following the tale of sadness, self-belief, heartache and making peace with the past and thankfully a happy ever after. I hope there is more from Quimby Grove.

Right from the very start of this fabulous book you are drawn straight into the lives of these wonderful characters this amazing author has created. I fell for Ellawyn, Beckett and sweet Benji right from their first appearances in the book. I knew their stories were not going to be easy ones but the entire time I lived in hope that the good would outweigh the bad in the end. For me it was one of those books where you are torn between wanting to read it as fast as you can because you just have to know what is going to happen and wanting to take your time with it because you don’t want it to end. I can’t wait to return to Quimby Grove to see what is next for this gorgeous little community and it friendly residents.

What an explosive and forbidden story. This is the first book that I have read from the author, and I was not disappointed. I was completely and utterly hooked on the book right from the beginning and loved every second about it. It’s very intriguing and the mystery really draws you in. The characters are what really makes the story come alive. The author has done an amazing job of creating the story. It is well written and the development throughout the book is amazing. I loved how she portrayed the characters and the journey they are on. I’m excited to see where the author takes the story as she continues the series.

This is the first book that I have read from the author, and I really enjoyed the read. Anyone who is really loves romance novels this is the book for you. You will not be disappointed with this read. It was a emotional and suspenseful read that kept my attention from start to finish. A woman looking to escape her past. A man returning to his roots. Dark, Spicy, Edge-of-Your-Seat Suspense…this book has it all. I was hooked from the blurb of the book and Lang Johnson just kept pulling me in. This is definitely not a book for the faint-of-heart. There are lies, betrayals, *spicy* times, love, hurt, anger, and so much more. I loved how Johnson developed Sera’s character and made her this total badass who knows want she wants and goes and gets it. She is smart, feisty, sexy, and knows how to use each of those to her advantage. Cassius is my favorite type of character…broken and flawed, but not ready to give up on the world yet. He’s kind and loving and is a genuinely good guy. I love the banter between Sera and Cassius as they are figuring each other out and what they mean to one another. Johnson’s plot development is also *chef’s kiss* amazing. It was a very fast-paced novel, but it never felt rushed. The drama and action sequences were done extremely well, as were the spicy portions of the book. Lang Johnson is definitely an author I will be putting on my To-Read list. I highly recommend this book!

Right from the first chapter, this book was dark and sultry and addictive. This isn’t your typical romance novel – it has drugs, murder, betrayal, secrets, lies, and pain. But it also has longing, attraction, lust, and love. All of the feelings in Devil’s Breath felt organic. It was not over-the-top cheesy, but it still showed an instant connection between Cassius and Sera that only kept building and deepening, even when that made everything more complicated. After all, nothing is easy when you are falling for someone you are meant to kill.

I’m pretty big on alpha male romances, and this one did not disappoint in that aspect, the fight for Remi to deny Audri the one thing he wants most, made my toes curl with anticipation the entire book. I love that the author made Audri soft and vulnerable, but strong willed and career minded at the same time. I love a strong male lead but I LOVE a stronger female MC. This book does all that an more, with a dash of suspense, due to hidden secrets and dark past to add spice to a book that could solely be a romance brings this book to a whole new level.
This is the first book from this series and from this author!! I’m very excited to explore the world she creates and to get to get to know all the WaterFyre men a lot better.

A beautiful story of growth and grief. Our story centers around Ellawyn, a woman trapped in a relationship that’s abusive, her escape from it, and how she learns to grow and heal from it. It’s about Benji, an old man with a beautiful soul who recognizes the battered yet beautiful soul in his bookstore every day, and the bond of kinship they form. It’s about Beckett, the driven man who comes home to the bookstore he loves to be with his grandfather, and the woman he discovers and is captivated by. These three characters interweave into a masterpiece that talks about grief in different forms and how we heal from it. There are some scenes that could definitely be triggering for survivors of abusive relationships, and deals with stalkers as well, so be prepared. This tale doesn’t pull its punches, but it doesn’t use them as the sole storyline either. This is a well written masterpiece that will only get better with each re-reading.

This book was really good, but it also wasn’t my favorite. I hate it, because I wanted to love it so much and it just fell short to me. I loved the characters, and the sexual tension was amazing. But what got to me was the internal monologue of both characters, and then the sex scenes just felt super awkward to me, and I just didn’t connect to the story like how I wanted to. The plot was amazing, and the whole video game idea was very interesting. I enjoyed this novel, I just didn’t love it and I hate that I didn’t because as stated above the story is great. I will definitely read the next installment of this standalone series though!

This is the fantastic first book in a series that looks like being a cracker. This is an author that was totally new to me but I was totally sold by the blurb. It sounded like it was exactly the type of book that I’d really enjoy. Sexy billionaire, brother’s best friend – what more do you need? Remington (Remi) Starke is a dark brooding sexy billionaire with the world at his feet. Audri Wu is his best friend Grayson’s little sister who is struggling to come to terms with events from her childhood that changed her life. This isn’t just a contemporary romance story. There is so much more to it. It has the added bonus of being a romantic suspense story with loads of drama, danger and intrigue that totally keep you gripped to the story wanting to know how the story will unravel. Let’s just say that the author has a few surprises that might just throw you. If you are a fan of the romance part of a story then I can assure you that this story is hot and steamy and does not lack at all in the romance stakes. I really loved this book and can’t wait to see what the author has in store for the other guys in the WaterFyre Rising world.

This book is book one of the series. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author but I was blown away!
Audri, despite being plagued with guilt, is the purest soul. She’s so sweet, determined, hard working. Remington is her older brothers best friend. He’s driven, intense, successful. As they spend more time together, it’s harder to ignore the chemistry. In the background, there are lots of secrets and a lot of suspense.
I could not get enough of this book! It has everything! I loved Audri’s character. She was very self-assured but also had moments of insecurity that was very relatable. Remi was so intense. The absolute definition of alpha with his inherent need to protect those close to him. I highly recommend!
