I didn’t read the first book in the series, but I had no problems getting to know Becky and her friends. You can feel the loyalty and love the characters have for each other. The lifelong friendship Becky has with Emily and how well they know each other is a important part of the story. So many of us wish we could have friends like that, who know you so well you don’t even have to say anything for them to know what you are feeling or thinking. It sure warmed my heart to read this and can’t wait to read the first book and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Do you have a dream of what you wanted to do? Did you achieve it? In this book, Becky is still on the path of finding her dream. She is handling everything that is happening in her life. She now lives in Tennessee on a ranch. She is going through the rodeo circuit and her music career is going up to new heights. Now things are going well, she is thrown a curveball that makes her think about what she should do. Can Becky hit the curveball out of the park or will she play it safe and let the ball go past her? Joanne Patterson is a talented author. I found her writing style is flowing and adventurous. It was written realistic enough that I found myself with Becky going through all of her adventures. I highly recommend this story for those who want a fun quick read.

Finding the Dream was the first book I’ve read by Joanne Patterson, from her stand alone, Rebecca Steele series. I never know what to expect when I read a standalone series, especially when I don’t read the books in sequential order. While I wish I had read book one first to get to know the characters a bit more in depth, this was still a great read. I enjoyed the characters and felt as though the storyline flowed well. Definitely a fun, fast paced book that I enjoyed reading on the lake. I look forward to reading more from Joanne Patterson.

The Matchmaker and The Marine is a sweet second chance small town romance that I couldn’t stop reading till I finished. There were moments where my heart ached for Melinda and Adam as they both suffered a loss. She lost her husband and decided to move and started a matchmaking business called “It’s just Coffee “. She wanted to help people find the kind of love she had with her husband. Adam is a retired Marine who absolutely stole my heart. These two meet at a wedding and become fast friends. The attraction is definitely there but both of them needed move on from there past. I could go on and on but I don’t want to give anything away. I highly recommend reading this Book. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

This is my first book by Lucinda Race, and it won’t be my last. Melinda is a Matchmaker and is able to bring people together to find everlasting love. Adam is a marine but after an attack he has been discharged. The characters are both flawed in different ways and the friendship and trust comes through the story and builds to a great ending. I loved Lucinda’s writing style and can’t wait to read more from her!

The Matchmaker and The Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance by Lucinda Race was a romantic and wholesome read. I loved Melinda and Adam’s chemistry. The Matchmaker and the Marine by Lucinda Race was a great example of why I love second chance romances. As my first book by this author, Melinda and Adam’s story was heartwarming and full of emotions that I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Both of these characters had an uphill battle to fight through and it was great to see how the right person can help fight those battles. I can’t wait to read more books from this small town and check out other books by this author.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I haven’t had the pleasure of reading a JOANNE PATTERSON novel before this one but I was glad that I gave the new to me author a chance. This book may have started a bit slow but for me it really took off once it did and actually left me reeling for a bit more at the end. I was not expecting the ending and I really do love books that can lead me on a bit and spin the whole thing around 360 quickly. It makes the book memorable and long lasting for me.

REBECCA STEELE FINDING THE DREAM is the second book in the REBECCA STEELE series from Joanne Patterson, but I was able to read it without the first one and enjoy it, although I will go back now and check out the one I missed. We find Rebecca as she is leaving the life she has known behind for a more fast and exciting one on the rodeo circuit. She stumbles into country music in the process and things seem to be going well for Rebecca until the twist you don’t see coming… you will have to read that for yourself, but this is one you don’t want to miss. The Matchmaker and The Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance by Lucinda Race – Review by Lianne Probert

The Matchmaker and The MarineThe Matchmaker and The Marine by Lucinda Race
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Matchmaker Melinda Phillips has devoted her life to helping others find love. Having tragically lost her husband, and childhood sweetheart, in a hit and run accident, Mel’s job is to help others find love like theirs.
Adam has heard a lot about the matchmaker that helped his friend find love. He’s interested in seeking her expertise, but when he falls for Mel can he make her see that she’s allowed to love again? And, can he trust her with his biggest secret?
When Mel hires Adam to work in her garden she gets to know him better, and a playful friendship takes shape. With Adam going on a string of unsuccessful dates the pair have plenty to keep them busy.

Mel and Adam are both such lovely characters you can’t help but wish them well. They both have a lot of baggage, but for me, this makes them more relatable and real. I was rooting for them to get the happy ending they deserve. I was keeping my fingers crossed that this second chance at love would work out for both of them. The story is easy to read, perfect for a cosy afternoon.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

5 years widowed
4 friends in love
3 boarders of ocean
2 second chances
1 gray striped Skye

The Matchmaker and the Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance, is a beautiful, slow-burn tale of healing hearts, self-forgiveness, and second chances. Lucinda Race has written such relatable and heartfelt characters in Melinda Phillips and Adam Bell. The realness of their doubt and grief; how even the smartest and most logical people can see they are not acting rationally, due to fears, losses, and regrets. Wanting so desperately to find happiness again, yet still not able to find the hope or strength to change course. You don’t have to be Marine to understand and sympathize with Adam’s trepidation of opening up. You don’t have to be a widow to feel Melinda’s loss of her husband so acutely.
It would have been easy to stay on the path life throws you on. It would have been far less scary to not at least try at a second chance of love, more freeing to stay jaded and guarded. But to have missed out on your happily ever after would have been far more painful than living in your darkened past.
You won’t regret taking this journey with Mel and Adam….after all. Timing is everything!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The matchmaker and the marine was a great book that was well written with great characters.
The two main characters have their own issues.
Melinda moved to Chester to start a new life after losing her husband and facing memories everywhere in her home. It was to much for her to handle. In Chester she has become a very successful matchmaker who gets referral and referral from the many HEA’s she has played a part in creating.
Adam is in Chester staying with a friend who is like a brother. They have been best friends for many years. Adam is at a wedding when he runs into Melinda. They start to talk about how they both know the couple and become quick friends. Adam hires Melinda to be his matchmaker but things don’t go very smooth for him. He’s ex military with many emotional and some physical scars. Adam not only hires Melinda but she also hires him to do some work in her yard. The chemistry is amazing between these two main characters throughout the book but is it enough? What happens when a secret is exposed that isn’t ready to be told?
I thought this was a really great book and look forward to many more from this author. This is definitely a book you do not want to miss out on!

The Matchmaker and The MarineThe Matchmaker and The Marine by Lucinda Race
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a small town, second chance at love romance story by Lucinda Race, and is a sweet and inspiring read which took me on a rollercoaster of emotions whilst reading it. Widowed matchmaker Melinda Phillips wants everyone to experience the kind of love she had with her husband and sadly lost. However Melinda has vowed never to date again, and meanwhile handsome Marine Adam Bell has sworn to hide his handicap forever. Adam was injured whilst serving in the Marines and had his leg amputated which is a constant reminder of his war years. Melinda’s job is matching up perfect couples and her business is thriving and she is in demand. Adam’s girlfriend rejected him following his amputation and now he is determined to protect his heart fiercely. The two meet when Melinda trips over at a client’s wedding right into the arms of a sexy Marine, Adam. Following Adams chivalrous rescue whilst at a friend’s wedding he suddenly wonders if he’s given up on love too soon and signs up for Melinda’s services. Melinda discovers that Adam’s ideal candidate is actually herself and the pair start to date and soon their relationship is blossoming. However Adam still believes that his hidden disfigurement will come between them. Melinda and Adam must overcome their traumatic pasts and take a chance at love and happiness for a second time.
I loved the main characters, both Adam and Melinda were realistic and relatable, you could tell that they both had traumatic pasts and that their fear for the future was real. The chemistry between them sizzled off the page and I was cheering both on to their happy ever after.

Rebecca Steele Finding the Dream by Joanne Patterson a dreamy five-star read. This is number two in the Rebecca Steele series but they can all be read as stand-alone as I haven’t read number one and don’t feel like I’ve missed anything, but I do plan on going back and checking Chasing the dream as I enjoyed the style. This was one of those stories that will show you aspects of life that you don’t see, inspire us to take a chance. There are so many wonderful characters in this story, Becky herself obviously but secondary characters who brought the story alive. I also loved how the romance was sweet and honest, it added something to the story.

This is a story to two broken people who just happen to be at the same place at the same time. This sweet story of finding love after being hurt. Melinda is a widow who just happens to be a matchmaker. She lost her love and does not think she will find another one. Adam is a Marine who loses his leg and because of that, his girlfriend walks out on him. Can he ever find love again? Lucinda Race does a wonderful capturing of the pain Melinda and Adam have gone through in their life so far. The characters are relatable and realistic. The storyline is a sweet story. Can two people ever fall in love again? I highly recommend this story because of the simplistic love story.

What a great book! I loved this story so much. We all have something no matter how big or small it may seem to others, that cause us to keep it to only those we know won’t judge you or pressure you etc.
Melinda is a business owner of “It’s Just Coffee” matchmaking service and she’s got a pretty great track record with it. We learn a lot about her in this book and my heart broke for her.
Adam, what a guy! I won’t give much away about him but he was so sweet, yet tough and new in town. He and Melinda become close as she helps him get matched up with potential dates, and he helps her by building in her backyard garden area.
Secrets have a way of showing themselves even if you’re not ready to air them out.
This was done so well. Highly recommend.

This is such a beautiful romance story. There is an inspirational feel to this book. Safe for all YA through adults, and such a comfort book.

Becky Steele is back and her life has taken a 360 turn around. Music, horses and the cowboy life. Life is different, but so much better. But let’s not forget about Chance and Cassidy. Is this really what Becky wants? Bet you’re as surprised as I am.

Joanne Patterson has written this beautiful story. Her book is smooth reading, well written and loaded with goodness. Add in the twist and read how Becky works through it. I fell in love with the characters in this story as well as the animal’s. But most of all I fell in love with this author. I’m looking for more! Well Done Joanne Paterson.

She has changed the direction of her life and little does she know but there are more changes to come. Does she take this new opportunity or continue the life she is enjoying? I hadn’t read the first book in the series but really enjoyed the characters and story in this book. Becky is a strong but sweet individual who can inspire someone to follow their dreams. I read this story quickly and enjoyed there were a few twists to keep me on my toes. I also enjoyed that the story doesn’t get saccharine sweet as some inspirational stories do. The characters are well rounded and interesting. I look forward to grabbing more books in the future by this author.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

We first meet Becky Steele in ‘Rebecca Steele Chasing a Dream’, but although this is the second book in the ‘Rebecca Steele Series’ it can be read as a standalone story. I read it having not read the previous book and I thoroughly enjoyed it and then had to read the first book as well having fallen in love with Becky.
Becky now rides horses and lives on a ranch outside Nashville, her life is definitely different to when she was flying on airplanes. Becky is not only making her name for herself within her country music career but she is also taking the Tennessee rodeo circuit by storm. Best friend Emily is by her side sharing Becky’s new adventure with her. Just as Becky decides that she is happier than she’s ever been and is determined to enjoy her new life, out of the blue she is thrown a curve, a big one. Knowing that the decisions she makes will not only effect her life but those closest to her Becky need to decide whether she will take a chance.
I love Becky as a character as she has such a friendly, loving personality and is also independent and courageous and she is not afraid to go for what she wants in life. I found her relatable as a character and like that she shows her vulnerability at times, especially when she has to face her fears. Emily is a great best friend and I love the dialogue between the two of them. The storyline had plenty to keep me turning the pages, drama, suspense, romance and intrigue along with enough twists and turns that kept me guessing. I was cheering Becky on throughout this story as she worked toward attaining and living her dreams.

Rebecca Steele is a upcoming Country Star, come on the adventure and see what happens next.

I loved this is story it was just a sweet felt coming of age story as Becky’s career in both music and the rodeo takes off she is navigated through the pit falls, surprises and good friends she meets along the way. When she is dealt a curve ball will she be able to overcome this and more forward.

I had not read the first story but feel that this can be read as a standalone story, you find Becky a well rounded woman who finds she has to overcome a fear and loved how you follow her through the book as though you are part of the story. I think the story was well written and the character where well developed. This is the first story I have read by this author and would love to read more.

The Matchmaker and The Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance by Lucinda Race is a beautifully written romance novel that I didn’t want to end! Melinda Phillips is the town matchmaker who has a great track record, many of her couples have ended up marrying each other. However, she has sworn never to date again after losing her husband so she strives to find true love for her clients. That is until she encounters the most handsome Marine at a client’s wedding. Adam Bell is a retired Marine due to an injury he got while serving. Not only did he end up losing his leg but his girlfriend couldn’t cope with his new norm and left him. Adam can’t help but feel that if he lets anyone know his secret they will take pity on him. As a friendship begins between Melinda and Adam, they can’t help but wonder if they are each other’s second chance at happiness. This novel was so refreshing to read. The friendship that was created between Melinda and Adam was so innocent and sweet yet such a struggle. They learned to accept the past and move forward with their new lives. It was such a heartwarming novel to read that I truly didn’t want it to end. This was a romance novel that wasn’t full of sexy scenes and dirty talk, and honestly, I didn’t miss it one bit.

Matchmaker Melinda is exceptional at her job in the town of Chester where she’s coupled almost everybody around. As a widower, she aspires to help everyone find the love she’s experienced with her late husband. She’s protecting her own heart by being one and done with marriage after the loss.
Adam is a retired marine who has great pain from the war and his heart is no exception to being bruised and battered so he strives to protect it. Melinda opens a part of him he’d thought had died and brightens his outlook on life.
Melinda hires the marine as a carpenter to create a pergola in her backyard while he’s now open to what services she provides but there’s a friendship developing between the two. The only problem is will they bypass their past to create a future together?
This story was sweet in the best ways. I loved how their chemistry was natural. Great characters with steamy and romantic interests made this book an easy read which I could not put down. This book makes you believe in love again and shows it’s okay to put your heart on the table for love.

What a sweet story! I loved how Adam was the epitome of a Marine. He was well mannered, respectful, honorable and is still a Marine though he’s retired. As someone who works with a lot of military I was happy to see she got that part right.

Melinda is enjoying her new life as a Matchmaker. She had no idea when she went to the wedding of one of her couples that her life is going to change for the better.

This was an incredibly sweet story between Adam and Melinda. They both have scars and are learning to live their new lives. I really enjoyed this story and would love to see more of the Matchmaker’s successful couples.

Rebecca Steele Finding the Dream is the second book in the Rebecca Steele series by Joanne Patterson. Even though this is the second book in the series, it could be read as a standalone. But having said that, I think I would have maybe enjoyed the story if I had followed Rebecca right from the beginning and read book one before starting this story. Finding the Dream is a sweet contemporary western romance, with plenty of touching and heart-warming moments.
We follow Rebecca through the rodeo circuit, and watch as her music career continues to climb. Then, just when all the stars seem to be aligned, life throws her a bit of a curve-ball, and decisions will need to be made which will change everything.
A sweet read!

Thank you, Joanne Patterson!
