I was intrigued by the synopsis and pulled in by the beautiful cover. And fell face first into a story that unfolded and kept me riveted. Wow. The author does a beautiful job weaving this tale with relatable characters all around a relevant and timely topic in a sensitive poignant way. You can it walk away from this book without grappling with this very real issue. My heart was unprepared to be burdened by this issue but is ten times bigger for considering it due to this beautiful writing. Five stars!

The Walls Between Us: A Borderline Love Story by Kate McGahan is a complex and well written story that will have you completely devoted to the characters. I loved that the whole story was based in historical fact as it added a whole new depth to the story. I was drawn in by everything that was happening and could so easily imagine every single scene. This is the first book that I have read by this author but if this is an example of her work then it certainly won’t be the last. This is an amazing book and the author has done an incredible of creating such a memorable story. I loved this book from start to finish and could not recommend it more.

Joanne Patterson is a new author for me and after reading this book, I will definitely be in the lookout for more of her books. While this read is Book 2 in the Rebecca Steele Series I had no trouble what so ever following this read and absolutely loved following the characters storyline, but just for the experience and this authors great writing I will definitely be going back to read book 1. This book had me captivated from the very beginning, I loved following Becky’s journey in this read and how she deals with things that get thrown her way. You will be left wondering what will happen in the read with the twists and turns that get brought your way. I can’t wait to read more from this author and to see where else this author takes the rest of this series! I highly recommend this read and this author!

Rebecca Steele Finding The Dream (Rebecca Steele Series #2) by Joanne Patterson
This is the first book I’ve read by Patterson. As the second book in the Rebecca Steele Series it continues to follow the main character on her journey. This is a page turner and will get you hooked.
Rebecca, aka Becky, is a country singer. She keeps a friend at arms length, but things start to bring them closer. An accident causes her to lose her memories of her past. What happens when the past shows up? The quote I choose for Becky is: Let’s take Cassidy shopping and get her some new clothes to wear to the rodeo. Would she like to shop with us?”
Adam, aka Chance, is a rodeo performer. He’s been smitten with Becky since he came to town. He didn’t realize that four years later would bring them together. Can he handle Becky’s past? Can she handle his past? The quote I choose for Chance is: “You are one in a million, Becky Steele and I love you.”
I highly recommend this book for a romantic at heart. It kept me interested from beginning to end. I had a hard time putting it down and didn’t want it to end.

This is book 2 in the Rebecca Steele series. It follows on with Becky’s story and her career. I didn’t read the first book but this book was easy to get into and follow that I didn’t feel I missed anything by not reading the first book.
Its a lovely romance set in Nashville. The landscapes of country music and working and living on a ranch really bring the characters and their lives to life. The characters are really likeable and you cant help wanting them to succeed.

The walls between us: A Borderland Love Story is a historical love story seen through the utter devastation of a drug war.
The story was well written and engaging until the very end, the main two characters are brilliant and the way the author goes through the different cultures and stereotypes which are still in the fore thought today.
This is not normally the type of genre I read but reading the blurb and I instantly felt drawn to this story, the story delves into the world of drug cartels and the horrendous conditions. The story is told through the two main characters who have their own beliefs and opinions which is a great insight to these people’s lives.
If you’re looking for a thought provoking story with a great emotional rollercoaster this is the story for you. I really enjoyed and was drawn in from the first word to the last.

The Walls Between Us by Kate McGahan a far-away four-star read. This was my first by this author, and I don’t know if it would be my last, I enjoyed the writing and most of the characters, but some left me cold. I don’t know if it was just that there was so much going on that I missed something important, but I did feel like I was wondering a lot about why, I will likely read this one again and see if I figure it out as I know reading some of the other reviews it seems like a great story. It could be that I am losing something in translation as I’m not a native as I live on an island, so the issues faced aren’t any that I come across. Don’t let my words put you off, if this sounds like an interesting story do pick it up as it is well written for the most, I do think it’s my situational knowledge that let me down.

When I first read the blurb for this story I was really intrigued, the author is new to me and whilst I will admit the cover isn’t one of the best I’ve seen I know not to take any notice of them and I am so glad I did. The story was beautifully written, the descriptive detail throughout was one of my favourite things about this book. I felt like I was really transported into the lives and worlds of these characters. The characters were well throughout and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about them. There was so much going on in the story that I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough to see what was going to happen. Even after finishing the story I was still thinking about what I had read and in my opinions it means that it was a really great read! I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

This story is told through two characters’ eyes and how different their opinions vary from life to politics. Circumstances allow both characters to see their situation at hand in different lights but I loved this book because all tied together from the characters to the scenes themselves. This allowed me to enjoy it that much more. The story itself is multifaceted in various ways that allow any and all readers to join in enjoying where the story takes them. I thoroughly enjoyed every part of this book as I find it educational from social, injustice and emotional facets but it all works out in the readers’ favor with the way it all makes a turn for the positive. One of the best educational and fascinating reads I’ve seen in a long time. Beautifully written by this great and compelling author.

Rebecca Steele Finding the Dream is book 2 in the series. I did not read book 1 but, that didn’t really affect my review. However, I may have liked the book more if I read book 1! I enjoyed reading this book. The characters were likable which makes it that much easier to read and enjoy a book. This was a quick sweet read about the life of Becky and some love along the way. I really liked reading about Chance and Becky. Every good book has some suspense and some twists to keep you entertained. I found myself trying to put the book down but saying, one more chapter first. You definitely don’t want to miss out on this book.

The Walls Between Us: A Borderland Love Story By Kate McGahan 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book The Walls Between Us: A Borderland Love Story by Kate McGahan. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and I found myself not able to put it down until I had read the final page. It is a book that tells a beautiful tale of love, different cultures, and includes characters that the author makes come alive with each chapter that I read. It is the characters, the differences in their lives, and how they interact that makes this story so powerful and hard to forget. My emotions went up and down the entire time I was reading this book. There are heartbreaking and heartwarming moments as well. The story is thought-provoking and challenges you to look at the stereotypes that are common in the world today. I enjoyed reading about what each of the characters brought to the book and found myself thinking about this story even after I had finished reading it. Don’t miss out on a wonderful story that will have you hooked from the beginning. I highly recommend reading it.

I enjoyed this historical-romance story about the wall and before what it is today. I found this story to be interesting and also heartwarming. There is much going on in this book but it is easy to read and follow. This is a well written story that the author used details that make you feel as if you are right there with the characters. I had no problems connecting with the characters as they took me on an emotional journey of two people who live on opposite sides of the wall. This is about a couple; an American and a Mexican. They are complete opposites but as the story grows they find that they have things in common as well as learn about the differences in each other. Their relationship grows into something heartfelt but is love strong enough to break down the wall? Will destiny play a part in what happens to these two? I highly recommend this book. This is my first book by this author, I am glad I picked it up and you will be too.

I struggle with this review. The story was ok but there is a lot of filler in the book and the writing seemed a bit boxy. That in turn led me to be bored and just easily could flip pages and not miss anything. The characters were ok as well. I had a few inconsistencies that I didn’t understand. The MC and her bff were retired but later but also working on career as rodeo queen/singer/ranch hand and then she seemed younger. It was a bit weird and too many mixed signals.
I liked Chance and the relationship he had with Rebecca. I could tell he liked her and was shy about it in the beginning. He was “All in” from the beginning. His secret identity was off in left field but it was used nicely in the story.
There is some mystery in the story as well. I didn’t read book 1 in the series and it made me wonder if this was carryover from that book. It was nicely done and was later in the book.
Overall this is an ok story. I was excited to read this based on others reviews. But I just couldn’t get into the characters or the story. Sorry.

Rebecca Steele Finding The Dream is the 2nd book in the Rebecca Steele Series by Joanne Patterson. I had not read the first book in this series, in fact, it’s the first time I had read anything by this author, but I was able to follow the story fine and didn’t feel that I was missing any relevant information. Rebecca, or Becky as she’s known is now making a name for herself in the country music scene and is enjoying life living and helping out on the ranch and her friendship with Chance is developing into something more. As always the path to true love never runs smoothly and Becky and Chance face a few bumps in the road, but that makes for a more enjoyable reading experience. It would be boring if everything was perfect. I loved both Becky and Chance’s characters. Becky is energetic and spirited but very loving and loyal to her friends and all who are close to her. Chance is a sweet, hardworking, cowboy who would do everything possible to make Becky happy. I did take a little bit to get really into this story but overall I did enjoy it very much. The overall storyline is good although in parts I did feel that it could have been more descriptive. The book is quite short and I think it could have been padded out a little more. Some events were over very quickly and could have been added to. Although short, I did enjoy what I read.

Rebecca Steele Finding the Dream by Joanne Patterson is the second book in the Rebecca Steele series and my first book by this author. I am a sucker for a book that takes place in any part of my home state. That might have drawn me to the book but Joanne’s writing and great characters are what had me flipping the pages.
Great storyline, really like the little twist. As this is standalone, I can’t wait to go back and read the first book just to get to know Rebecca Steele a little better. Can’t wait to see what Rebecca’s next adventure going to be.

There are two sides to a border. In this story one side is American, one side is Mexican. There are two sides to the desert. Sarah sees it as a heaven, Benito sees it as a hell. She is a budding attorney from New York; he is a photojournalist fleeing the Mexican drug cartel. Destiny brings the two together in the Mexico-Arizona borderlands of the Sonoran Desert.
Follow the romance of soulmates Sarah and Benito as they learn from their striking similarities and discover their diverse cultural differences. Witness the humble Mexican woman who inspires change in a Vietnam veteran vigilante through the power of unconditional love. Listen to the retired Jewish professor from New York who moves to a western ranch and creatively helps the underprivileged in Nogales, south of the border wall. Through a series of synchronistic events, the paths and stories of these people intersect and destiny rules the direction that their lives take.
After 9-11 things changed dramatically at the border. This story is historic fiction, covering the simpler times before the border wall became such an issue and brings us forward into the present day. The people in this inspirational story live on the edge of a political, manmade borderline. A line that crosses through cities and homelands. A line that divides those who are prejudiced from one another but also a line that divides those who love. We discover that a border wall is just one kind of wall. There are political walls of injustice, emotional walls of defensiveness and social walls of discrimination. Join us as we watch the walls come tumbling down when one prioritizes the power of love, compassion and acceptance. We may not be able to open our borders, but we can open our minds and hearts. Let “The Walls Between Us” open yours! Based on a true story.

With her best friend, Emily in tow, Becky lives at a horse ranch where she’s content until powers higher than herself force her to put a lot in perspective for her new life. I loved reading the morals this story leads up to from love lessons to lessons on life. I love characters that can brave a lot of storms and come out on top. This was a beautiful read.

I didn’t read the first book in the series, but I had no problems getting to know Becky and her friends. You can feel the loyalty and love the characters have for each other. The lifelong friendship Becky has with Emily and how well they know each other is a important part of the story. So many of us wish we could have friends like that, who know you so well you don’t even have to say anything for them to know what you are feeling or thinking. It sure warmed my heart to read this and can’t wait to read the first book and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Do you have a dream of what you wanted to do? Did you achieve it? In this book, Becky is still on the path of finding her dream. She is handling everything that is happening in her life. She now lives in Tennessee on a ranch. She is going through the rodeo circuit and her music career is going up to new heights. Now things are going well, she is thrown a curveball that makes her think about what she should do. Can Becky hit the curveball out of the park or will she play it safe and let the ball go past her? Joanne Patterson is a talented author. I found her writing style is flowing and adventurous. It was written realistic enough that I found myself with Becky going through all of her adventures. I highly recommend this story for those who want a fun quick read.

Finding the Dream was the first book I’ve read by Joanne Patterson, from her stand alone, Rebecca Steele series. I never know what to expect when I read a standalone series, especially when I don’t read the books in sequential order. While I wish I had read book one first to get to know the characters a bit more in depth, this was still a great read. I enjoyed the characters and felt as though the storyline flowed well. Definitely a fun, fast paced book that I enjoyed reading on the lake. I look forward to reading more from Joanne Patterson.

The Matchmaker and The Marine is a sweet second chance small town romance that I couldn’t stop reading till I finished. There were moments where my heart ached for Melinda and Adam as they both suffered a loss. She lost her husband and decided to move and started a matchmaking business called “It’s just Coffee “. She wanted to help people find the kind of love she had with her husband. Adam is a retired Marine who absolutely stole my heart. These two meet at a wedding and become fast friends. The attraction is definitely there but both of them needed move on from there past. I could go on and on but I don’t want to give anything away. I highly recommend reading this Book. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

This is my first book by Lucinda Race, and it won’t be my last. Melinda is a Matchmaker and is able to bring people together to find everlasting love. Adam is a marine but after an attack he has been discharged. The characters are both flawed in different ways and the friendship and trust comes through the story and builds to a great ending. I loved Lucinda’s writing style and can’t wait to read more from her!

The Matchmaker and The Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance by Lucinda Race was a romantic and wholesome read. I loved Melinda and Adam’s chemistry. Both seemed like independent and self sufficient individuals. That air and none of the games was super refreshing. I enjoyed the pacing and thought the story was well thought out. I had fun reading this in one go over the holiday weekend.

The Matchmaker and the Marine by Lucinda Race was a great example of why I love second chance romances. As my first book by this author, Melinda and Adam’s story was heartwarming and full of emotions that I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Both of these characters had an uphill battle to fight through and it was great to see how the right person can help fight those battles. I can’t wait to read more books from this small town and check out other books by this author.

I haven’t had the pleasure of reading a JOANNE PATTERSON novel before this one but I was glad that I gave the new to me author a chance. This book may have started a bit slow but for me it really took off once it did and actually left me reeling for a bit more at the end. I was not expecting the ending and I really do love books that can lead me on a bit and spin the whole thing around 360 quickly. It makes the book memorable and long lasting for me.
REBECCA STEELE FINDING THE DREAM is the second book in the REBECCA STEELE series from Joanne Patterson, but I was able to read it without the first one and enjoy it, although I will go back now and check out the one I missed. We find Rebecca as she is leaving the life she has known behind for a more fast and exciting one on the rodeo circuit. She stumbles into country music in the process and things seem to be going well for Rebecca until the twist you don’t see coming… you will have to read that for yourself, but this is one you don’t want to miss. Matchmaker Melinda Phillips has devoted her life to helping others find love. Having tragically lost her husband, and childhood sweetheart, in a hit and run accident, Mel’s job is to help others find love like theirs. Adam has heard a lot about the matchmaker that helped his friend find love. He’s interested in seeking her expertise, but when he falls for Mel can he make her see that she’s allowed to love again? And, can he trust her with his biggest secret? When Mel hires Adam to work in her garden she gets to know him better, and a playful friendship takes shape. With Adam going on a string of unsuccessful dates the pair have plenty to keep them busy.
Mel and Adam are both such lovely characters you can’t help but wish them well. They both have a lot of baggage, but for me, this makes them more relatable and real. I was rooting for them to get the happy ending they deserve. I was keeping my fingers crossed that this second chance at love would work out for both of them. The story is easy to read, perfect for a cosy afternoon.

5 years widowed 4 friends in love 3 boarders of ocean 2 second chances 1 gray striped Skye
The Matchmaker and the Marine: A Second Chance Small-Town Romance, is a beautiful, slow-burn tale of healing hearts, self-forgiveness, and second chances. Lucinda Race has written such relatable and heartfelt characters in Melinda Phillips and Adam Bell. The realness of their doubt and grief; how even the smartest and most logical people can see they are not acting rationally, due to fears, losses, and regrets. Wanting so desperately to find happiness again, yet still not able to find the hope or strength to change course. You don’t have to be Marine to understand and sympathize with Adam’s trepidation of opening up. You don’t have to be a widow to feel Melinda’s loss of her husband so acutely. It would have been easy to stay on the path life throws you on. It would have been far less scary to not at least try at a second chance of love, more freeing to stay jaded and guarded. But to have missed out on your happily ever after would have been far more painful than living in your darkened past. You won’t regret taking this journey with Mel and Adam….after all. Timing is everything!
