Sweet Dreams by Claire (Capture the Light, #2)Sweet Dreams by Claire by Nanette Littlestone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I got this book first and then realized that there was a first book. I like when a series follows different characters, you can still read them out of order and it won’t mess you up too much. I ended up waiting to read this one until I finished the first book and I’m glad I did. The main character Claire is living in a small Irish town and working at the bakery that her family owns. She was injured as a child and not confident in herself and also has a lot of fears that she is avoiding in her life. She literally runs into Finn on her way to the castle to deliver cupcakes for a wedding. Finn, whose family used to own the castle, is riding his bike and runs into Claire. He takes her back to the castle to bake and she ends up coming up with an amazing recipe on the spot and bakes and is given the job to bake for the bride. Claire wants to try new things at the bakery but her mom is set in her ways. Finn is an American and sails all around the world. They collide and then take time to get to know each other. Claire has never felt that she would be worthy of a man looking at her and Finn is smitten. This story has baking, magic, Irish charm, and fun characters. I hope there are more in the series because there are so many other characters I would like to get to know better!

Sweet Dreams by Claire: A Heartwarming Irish Romance (Capture the Light, Book 2)Sweet Dreams by Claire: A Heartwarming Irish Romance by Nanette Littlestone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Claire is a woman who lives for baking sweet treats and flavour, so it is a good thing that she works in her family bakery, but her dream is to experiment more with flavours, however, the family bakery is very traditional. One day, Claire is asked to go up to the local castle and deliver some cupcakes for a clients wedding, although she thinks they are a little boring, she agrees and sets off on the long walk up the hill, unfortunately, a wayward cyclist foils that plan and squashes the box, but thankfully, Claire is given permission to use the resort kitchen to make some new ones and this leads on to a surprise invitation to the wedding itself.

As the days pass and the wedding grows closer, Claire is enveloped into the chaos that is Brigid Cleary and her family, including her dashing brother Finn, the man who is determined to take her out of her routine and explore the world around her. This completely unsettles Claire as she helps out with wedding dilemma’s, all while still working in the bakery, but when her past comes back to haunt her while spending time with her newfound friends, she has a feeling that it is going to spoil the connections she is fostering.

The only thing Claire did not plan for was a gift with some of the magic of Ireland crashing into her life as moonlight and emotion mix, but with the dawning of a new day, things come crashing down around Claire and she has to make the decision to either accept the new direction her life is going, or bow down to the traditional values she once adored, but are the consequences attached to each option too much? This is a sweet romance based in Claremore, Ireland where culture, magic, emotions and baking collide to lead you on a journey of romance, courage and creativity.

Sweet Dreams by Claire is the second book in the Capture the Light Series and is a Sweet Romance. This is a new author to me and I wasn’t real sure what to expect going in but I must say im definitely going to check out what other books they have. I’m a sucker for sweet romance/ small-town romance and this heartwarming story checked all the boxes. The characters are relatable developed and creative they make the story come to life and you feel like you are right there with them. The chemistry between the characters might be slow burning but man oh man. If you like Sweet Small-Town romance then I highly recommend reading this book. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Sweet Dreams by Claire (Capture the Light, #2)Sweet Dreams by Claire by Nanette Littlestone
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sweet Dreams by Claire is the 2nd book in the Capture the Light series by Nanette Littlestone. Still, I found that I could read it as a stand-alone novel as there are slight references to things that happened in the first book, but this book focuses on a new story with a new main character.
Claire helps her mum in the family bakery in Claremont, Ireland but is frustrated with her mum’s determinately traditional offerings and her reluctance to change. Claire has big dreams of expanding the range of the bakery into more decadent desserts but her mum won’t allow it.
An accident involving a bike and cupcakes where she meets Finn sets in motion a chain of events that will change Claire’s life in unexpected ways. Finn is the brother of Brigid, a character from the first book, whose wedding plays a large role in this book
This is a delightful small-town romance with family at the heart of it. Family dynamics play a part, as well as pre-wedding dramas, a touch of magical realism, and gaining the confidence to make choices that will affect Claire and her life moving forward.

This book is a must read for foodies and romance lovers! I couldn’t put it down. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this novel. The descriptions of the characters, setting, and food were exquisite. I could envision beautiful Ireland. I could taste the food while I read. The characters were genuine and loveable. I fell in love with Ireland and Claire and her friends. This is book 2 of a series, but I read it first and was able to enjoy it without reading book 1. Claire and Finn go through some rough times along their path. Will they reconcile by the end of the book? Read this book and find out. You won’t regret it.

I enjoyed reading this sweet romance story. This is a newer author for me which I enjoy their ability to pull me into the story from the start. A story where the characters will make you laugh in parts and a warm feeling in others. A story where the past comes to the present and leaves a question if it can be left behind. There is great growth as well as chemistry throughout the story which makes it easy to read. It is a fast paced, engaging story and one you don’t want to miss. This is a heartfelt story that is not only easy to read but hard to put down. The characters will keep you coming back for more. I enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it.

This was a lovely book. It’s definitely a quirky romance novel but it’s also relatable. Claire has major insecurities and she’s living her mom’s dream. This novel wasn’t just about her falling in love but discovering herself and I really enjoyed that aspect. I got so involved in the story I was shouting out at Claire’s mother and at Finn the entire book lol. Highly recommend.

Sweet Dreams by Claire is a fun, light-hearted read that had my attention and my heart right from the start. Claire is lovable and so relatable! While the story takes place in Ireland, it feels like it’s a familiar town that everyone knows thanks to the great writing of Nanette Littlestone. Finn and Brigid are two more of the many wonderful characters that you get to know, and love, along the way. The magic and the Irish legends woven into the story provide yet another fantastic component to the story. This book had me wanting to visit Ireland, hungry for lots of bakery items, and craving salted caramels! Lots of sweet dreams for me after reading this book!

This is the second book in the Capture the Light Series. It is the first that I have read though and it most definitely reads as a standalone. There is some character overlap it seems but it most definitely does not take away from this story.
This story features Claire and Finn. Who are incredibly well written characters and well developed. I do have to say that the author also does a fantastic job in describing the settings of Ireland and the Bakery so vividly that you feel as if you are right in the midst of it.
This is an absolutely sweet and wonderful story with such a fantastic plot and characters. I definitely recommend picking up this book so that you can be swept up in Claire and Finn’s story as well.

Sweet Dreams by Claire (Capture the Light Series) by Nanette Littlestone. This is such a sweet contemporary romance. Its the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone! Its the story of Claire who has grown up in her parents bakery. She is older now and ready to branch out on her own but her mother won’t let her. Claire feels like her mom & dad’s bakery is just plain and she wants to branch out on her own with new and different stuff. She is also dealing with local resident Brigid’s wedding and her demands. In the meantime she also meets Finn who is Brigid’s sister and they have wild chemistry. The more time Claire spends with Finn the more they come to care about each other. Claire wants to be more adventuresome and live her life the way she wants but she also feels tied to her parents. With Finn only being in town for the wedding what will become of his relationship with Claire? Such a fun romance to start out the new year!

Sweet Dreams by Claire: A Small Town Feel-Good Delicious Irish Romance (Capture the Light, Book 2)

This was a sweet and enjoyable introduction to Ms. Littlestone and her writing. I got lost in the story and had to be reminded to put it down.

Claire made the Mama in me want to hold and encourage her to follow all of her dreams. She has such an amazing talent in the kitchen and I hated to see her talents stiffled. Thankfully she has her Grandmother there for support and love and to guide her where she needs to be.

Finn is in a similar situation as Claire with having his dreams dismissed by his parent. He meets Claire while there for his sister’s wedding.

They have fun, get in trouble and fall for one another. He is so good for her, he grounds her and helps her let loose and heal.

This can be read as a standalone, but there is information and details in the first book that would be helpful to know. I will go back to read the first one and keep and eye out any new books.

This story isn’t set in a fast pace but slow and takes you through the motions. A wonderfully thought of story with tinges of magic, love, and adventure. Claire has never been adventurous after a childhood trauma but everything changes with a cake delivery. She gains new friends, a tall handsome stranger, pain, and even learns to overcome. A wonderful story of how life can go for anyone and the steps to overcome. Will Claire’s life turn around?

What a wonderful read to start off my 2024 reading journey! I really enjoyed this book; it was easy to read with really lovely characters who were likeable and relatable. I read this story in one sitting as I was so engaged in everything that was going on. I’ve not read anything by this author previously so I will definitely be on the lookout for more of her books to read. The authors wonderful descriptive language really did make me feel like I was right there in Ireland in a bakery at times!
Although this is book 2 in the series, I read it perfectly well as a standalone but having met some of the characters now I would definitely like to read book one and learn more about them.
I really liked Claire, she is that kind of character that draws you in and you kind of wish she was real as you know she would be a great friend to have. I admired her determination to be what she wanted regardless of her mother wish for a predictable life! She wanted to go after her dreams.
Finn was a great character too and I loved this connection these two seemed to have. They had a great genuine chemistry and I was rooting for them from the beginning!

A wonderful tale of longing for something that’s just out of your reach. Everything is spinning out of control for Claire and she’s at her wits end. A beautiful love story that takes place in Ireland. A American who’s just out of reach, a haunting past that keeps Claire from taking a big step, and a bakery that’s been in the family for years. Clair is ready for a change but is the world ready for her big changes? This book is all about taking chances, heartbreak and finding love.

Sweet Dreams by Claire (Capture the Light, #2)Sweet Dreams by Claire by Nanette Littlestone
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sweet Dreams by Claire is the second instalment of Nanette Littlestone’s Capture the Light series, and it follows Claire and Finn. Claire is passionate about baking, she wants to open her own bakery and create things made of wildly different ingredients and flavours, but she’s currently working in her parents bakery which is limited to items she deems vanilla and simple. Finn is a sailor, he’s adventurous, never stays in one place or with one person for too long. They meet, and have a bigger impact on each other than either of them expected. Claire steps out of her comfort zone, and Finn sees what he wants for the first time. It’s a cute and inspiring small town romance. It’s hard to choose a favourite or least favourite character because everyone in the book has their flaws and perfections. Claire puts everyone else’s needs before her own, but she lets her insecurities get in the way of growing relationships. Finn is kind, courageous, adventurous, but can sometimes come across as selfish. I recommend this book because it’s a sweet story about two people who never really thought they’d find love, but they do. It’s also inspiring when it comes to Claire’s condition, her insecurities around it, and her overcoming her fears. ‘There’s a lemon tang of surprise and a spicy heat, mixed with a cinnamon wind and a salty breeze that says, “You’re here; I found you.”’

Tradition rules the bakery where Claire has basically grown up. Set in Claremore, Ireland, Claire wants nothing more than to bake to her hearts content. She longs to own her own bakery where she can create the items that she loves most. Her life is safe and mostly content until Finn steps in the picture. He does his best to get Claire out of her comfort zone and into his arms.

This is great second book in the Capture the Light Series. It is the first book I have read and I really enjoyed it. In fact I plan on going back and reading the first book in the series as I really enjoyed the author writing and story telling.

This is a sweet romance but with elements of family drama, as well as a journey of discovery for our main character Claire.
She is such a likeable character. She loves her job in the family bakery and she really wants to branch out on her own but the thing holding her back is her mother and family commitment.
So she stays working hard at the family business.
Until a wedding changes her outlook on life. At the wedding she meets the brides brother Flynn. With their attraction being instant Flynn encourages Claire to take a chance. Flynn will only be around for a week so could she live adventurous and take the opportunity for a little adventure of her own? However things arent going to be so simple as just throwing caution to the wind and taking a risk. With secrets that are threatening to be revealed Claire could be risking it all.

This book is definately a journey of self discovery as she learns more about herself, what she really wants to do with her life and she discovers just how amazing love can be.

I was completely invested in Claire and Flynn’s story. The author sets it in a beautiful landscape of Ireland which made it even more of a romantic and magical feel. I really can’t wait to read more from this series and this author

Sweet Dreams By Claire is the second book in the Capture the Light series by Nanette Littlestone. This is the first book that I have read by this author, so I really wasn’t sure of what to expect from her writing- but do I love a sweet romance, and this promised to deliver that- so I one-clicked a copy and set off to explore.
This is a touching romance with magical realism, a little drama, family dynamics, baking, intriguing characters, emotion, a small-town setting, a mysterious antique brooch, feelgood moments, tender touches, sweet developments, and delightful details – which is all set against the picturesque backdrop of the Emerald Isle.
I loved meeting Claire and following along on her journey of discovery- self-discovery, discovering love, and more. Finn is such a great character- he’s arrived for his sister’s wedding, and the connection between him and Claire made the story quite romantic. They do have their challenges though- which the author cleverly wove into the story- adding a touch of drama and adding even more interest.
I will definitely be going back to read Book #1 (For the Love of Brigid) and finding out what happened there (it’s Brigid’s wedding in this book that brings Claire and Finn together) before continuing with the rest of this series.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Nanette Littlestone!

Sweet Dreams by Claire (Capture the Light, #2)Sweet Dreams by Claire by Nanette Littlestone

This was an enjoyable, sweet Irish romance which kept me happily turning the pages. The author whisks us away to the small town of Claremore in Ireland, where the residents of the town are friendly, if slightly nosy, and the town has a magical feel to it. Claire Francis works in her family’s bakery, but she now longs to open her own shop and make her dreams come true. However, her mother is not ready to retire, and won’t let Claire explore her creative side as she’s very traditional. Claire has other things to deal with when she gets embroiled in pre-wedding dramas, ahead of Brigid Cleary’s wedding. However, its Brigid’s brother Finn who is on her mind, as he gets her to question her safe and uneventful life and pushes her to take a chance on the attraction they feel for each other. Unfortunately, he is only in town for the wedding and spends the rest of his time on the water, which Claire is terrified of. As the couple grow closer Claire has a secret from her past which she can’t escape. Just as she fears she will never have both love and success a magical gift helps her to unlock the path to her dreams. This was a lovely, heartwarming romance with an opposites attract theme which had me engaged throughout. I loved the main characters, both Claire and Finn are likeable and relatable, and their chemistry came across in the story. The setting was brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative and I loved the storyline with its touch of magic. It definitely had the feel-good factor and I look forward to returning to Claremore soon!

Sweet Dreams is an enchanting tale that takes us to the mysterious and magical Emerald Isle. Just reading the story transported me back to my wonderful holiday many years ago. I really enjoyed the writing style the attention to detail Nanette put in because I could feel, smell and taste it all as though I was standing right there.
This love story is engaging, and I loved the sense of humour in the writing it has all the makings of a good Hall Mark movie.
The characters really are charming the character development is spot on. We get to catch up with characters from previous books to.
This feel-good story has dramatic turns, pre-wedding dilemmas, ancient legends, secrets, magical gifts, dreams, hopes, wants and unexpected love. What more could you hope for, and Nanette has delivered.
It was a quick read but an enjoyable read. I only wish it was a little longer.
