5 Stars Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes (Hot Flash Hookups Book 1) by Marika Ray and Sylvie Stewart
Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes is the first book in the Hot Flash Hookups series by two wonderful authors. This is a RomCom that I absolutely loved reading. The characters are relatable, developed and creative and made the story super fun to read. The chemistry between Roman and Olivia is off the charts. Oliva gets invited to a wedding of her ex-husband and her children decide to set her up with a fake date named. Roman so she didn’t have to go alone. Roman is a Hockey player who so good with Olivia . He shows her that even later in live one can find what they thought they were missing. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this wonderful duo.

This book is hands down the best book I have read this year. The fact that the male and female main characters were both over 40 with meddling young adult kids made this story even more realistic to me. Going through menopause myself at 49, I really connect with Olivia (Ollie). Marika Ray and Sylvie Stewart have teamed up and written what I think is a fabulous story.

Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes by authors Marika Ray and Sylvie Stewart- 5 out of 5 stars
This book was so well written, I had a hard time putting it down. I adore the main characters, Roman and Olivia, their banter throughout the book had me losing it and they are both so relatable. Olivia deals with menopause like a boss. Roman is making an effort to make up for all of those times he wasn’t there for his daughter. One thing is for sure, the heat and chemistry from these two was on point! I highly recommend.

Oh, my stars, this sure was funny! I can’t imagine having to attend my ex-husband’s wedding. But then again, my ex tied the knot the very day our divorce was final. I love how the main characters were both over forty. I mean, dating in your forties in nothing like dating in your twenties. Yup, it’s a veritable gold mine for book fodder.

This romance had me up all night as I read the entire story from cover to cover in the span of one night, it is that good! I was invested in Olivia, our main character, the divorced mom of two suffering from perimenopause, who just got invited to her ex-husband’s wedding to a much younger, gorgeous woman, on an island of all places! Olivia does not want to be caught dead at this wedding, let alone without a date. Unfortunately, her college-aged daughter has other plans for her mother, and works together with her best friend at college, and roommate, to set up her single dad with her friend’s single mom. Roman is a pro hockey player, close to retirement age, who has spent his life missing out on most of his daughter’s life activities due to all of the traveling a pro hockey player must do. Of course, he agreed to the plan of going on vacation with his daughter, even as her friend’s mom’s plus one, if that was what it took to spend quality time with his distanced college-aged daughter. What better combination than putting together a woman who is always experiencing hot flashes, with a pro hockey player who is used to working in the cold ice rink where he is constantly working up a sweat. Olivia needs fans around the clock in order to sleep, and Roman needs extra blankets to keep warm enough so he doesn’t freeze in the night. What happens when you put these two in a hotel room together for the weekend, with one bed?
This book was so well written, and the characters’ personalities were so opposite, it was awesome getting to read the story from each of the two main characters’ points of view as they struggled to survive the weekend together. I could feel the heat as these two kept admiring one another without the other being aware of the attraction between the two. It was quite hilarious knowing that each felt intimidated that the other was way above their game when in reality they were both very much single and interested in the other. I loved the setting in which this story takes place, showing how each character comes from such a different world, yet it goes to show that opposites most definitely attract. I am so excited to see the next book in the Hot Flashes series come out in 2024, if it’s anywhere close to this book, then it’s going to be a winner in my book! @Brandy Rymer 10/2023

Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes (Hot Flash Hookups Book 1) by Marika Ray (Author), Sylvie Stewart (Author) is an amazing Hockey RomCom. Olivia and Roman are a hilarious duo and so relatable. This was my first book by either of these authors but it definitely wont be my last. If you like Fake Dating, Hockey Romance, Romantic Comedy, and Vacation Fling you will love this. But my favorite thing about this book was that the FMC was not a young girl. It was so refreshing to have an older and more relatable female lead. 5 Stars!

If you are looking for a delightfully fun Rom-Com with humor, great characters, romance and spice, then please grab this book.
Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes by Marika Ray and Sylvie Stewart follow fun loving Olivia and her fake date, the hunky Roman. They were thrown together because her kids knew she needed a date to her ex husband’s wedding!
I’m a sucker for the fake relationship trope and this one sure did deliver. The chemistry between the two was palpable but it was how well rounded and fun they were that really drew me in. They are both going through a change that makes them realize that they arent getting any younger . The authors did an amazing job at helping them navigate this while still keeping the humor. I can’t wait to continue the series.

I absolutely loved Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes. This book was such a great read from beginning to end. I loved how Olivia just doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her. She’s a middle aged divorced woman about to go to her ex husbands destination wedding. She doesn’t want to go but her daughter tells her she has to go. Her daughter Holly brings her roommate from college Hannah. The girls decide they will get someone to be Olivia’s pretend boyfriend for the wedding and Hannah decides to call her dad who hasnt exactly been a great dad to her thru the years. Roman decides to go but isn’t prepared for all things Olivia. She shows up in Belize and is nothing short of a hot mess. When she spots Roman and realizes he’s her fake boyfriend, she thinks about him getting his own room so she doesn’t need to share a bed with him. I loved Roman from the very beginning. Both Roman and Olivia have grown children who think they can parent their parents. Over the course of a week in Belize Roman and Olivia become close but that week is over before neither is ready for it to be over. With Roman being a professional hockey player in Tampa and Olivia being a successful business woman in North Carolina, there’s no way for either of them to bring up their feelings without getting heartbroken. Will one of them take the leap and voice their feelings or will they just say good bye with hopes to maybe run into eachother when they visit their daughters at school? Definitely loved Olivia and her don’t care attitude and Roman….he is the perfect guy. He has no problems voicing his opinions and he is isn’t scared of Olivia even with her hot flashes and attitude. Definitely enjoyed this read.

Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes is the first book in the new Hot Flash Hookups series by Marika Ray and Sylvie Stewart. This is a fun contemporary romantic comedy with a fake dating element, OWYM, holiday hookup, forced proximity, only one bed, meddling family, reverse age gap, menopausal mischief, chemistry, funny quips, banter, one-liners, antics, family dynamics, drama, emotion, angst, and wonderful characters. When Olivia has to attend the wedding of her ex-husband, her meddling children organise a ’fake date’ for her. Roman isn’t what she expected at all. A pro hockey player with more than just his looks and hockey skills going for him. What happens makes for a really fun and memorable read. The story was so entertaining, and I enjoyed every second between these covers. These two authors have come up with a magic recipe here and I can’t wait to continue this madcap romp of a series. Bring on Book #2.I really recommend this book, and I can’t wait to continue with the series. Happy Reading!

This was a great 5 star read. I love these two authors together. I had several LOL moments and I can relate to the hot flashes. Olivia quickly became a favorite character for me and Roman wowza. Roman was perfect for Olivia, I loved the bantering between them and the things Olivia would sass back to him. You could feel the connection between these two coming off the pages. The authors pull you in with their writing and you feel like you’re right there with the characters. All of the characters added a great element to the story. I can’t wait to read more from this series and the authors. 1-click and get started today.

This was a fun and quick read! Olivia has been invited to her ex husband’s wedding in Belize. She is feeling frumpy with twenty extra pounds, not very confident, and also perimenopausal. But she decides to go to support her kids. Holly, her daughter and Hannah, her new college roommate, think it is a good idea to set her up with a fake date for the wedding week. Roman, Hannah’s dad, is a professional hockey player and the oldest player in the league. He would do anything for Hannah since he has been absent for a lot of her childhood while on the road, so he says yes. The week in Belize is amazing, the walks, the sunsets, the laughter, and even the romance. I loved the characters, I loved the idea and story line, I loved the location, and I didn’t want it to end! It was nice to read a romance book where the characters were not in their twenties and have lived some life. I devoured this book in a day and will now be looking up the rest of the books written by these authors!

Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes (Hot Flash Hookups Book 1) by Marika Ray and Sylvie Stewart. This book is hilarious and I could relate with the hot flashes 100%. Its the story of Olivia who is going thru Perimenopause and has been invited to her Ex’s destination wedding. She can’t go single without looking like a loser so her daughter sets her up with her friends dad. Its just supposed to be a pretend date though. Roman is a a professional hockey player and will do anything in his power to make his daughter happy so when she asks him to pretend to be her best friends date he’s all for it. He has issues with women in his past so he’s not looking for a relationship so this will be easy. Or so he thinks! The more time they spend together and the more chaos they find sparks fly between them. This is such a funny, romance about a 40 something woman and all the challenges that age brings. I laughed out loud several times!

This book is everything you could want from a fake romance story. And for me, it was made even better by the fact that that main character was aliggtly older. The whole book was full of laughter. It was entertaining, fun and had two great characters. Sylvie Stewart is an author I am very familiar with however, Marika Ray is a new author me. Reading her work in a collaboration like this is a great introduction. Their combines writing style pulled me into the story effortlessly and I already know I will be reading more. What a great start to a new series. Bring on Book 2!

This is the first book in this new series for these authors. What a great start it is and I look forward to seeing what is next in this series. This is a well written story that is full of romance and steam. If you enjoy reading a single dad, hockey player romance story, this book is for you. The characters pulled me in from the start. They are connectable and I enjoyed watching their growth and chemistry. Their story is what happens when a hockey player and a fake date come together into something they never see coming. This is a fast paced story that is hard to put down. An easy romance story to read that is engaging and one that kept me turning pages to the end. I really enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it.

This is a very cute romantic comedy that will have you swooning for the MMC and commiserating with the FMC all while laughing out loud. Olivia has been invited to her ex-husband’s wedding (to a much younger woman) and her kids decide to set her up on a fake date with aging hockey star, Roman, so that she doesn’t have to attend the event (in Belize, no less) alone. We get to follow along between Olivia and Roman (it’s a dual perspective…YAY!) from beginning, middle, and end as the adventure happens. It’s a super cute story and I love the way the authors work together to create a seamless tale of life, love, and happily-ever-after.

This is one of the funniest rom-com’s I’ve read this year. They had me laughing so hard. Roman is the kind of man many of us that are perimenopausal or post-menopausal want. He was taking her to the spa and doing all these nice things and he loves his daughter. He’s my kind of man, especially in a hot flash. I loved the story. I loved the characters. Evie is a beautiful bff to have. She had her back. Great book and I enjoyed every minute of it. I cannot wait for the next one.

Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes is a steamy Romantic Comedy and the first book in the Hot Flash Hookups series by two wonderful authors Marika Ray & Sylvie Stewart. I love that older women and life changes are being written about and these two do it so well. I found myself laughing out loud at the banter between all the characters. It had me eagerly turning the pages as we journey along to one woman’s plight and a new chapter in her life. What could be more fun than menopause, a wedding, a tropical island, a fake sexy date, and some flirty and sexy times. It certainly wasn’t on her radar. The heat is definitely turned up in this feel-good tale. The story is well paced, and the characters are well developed, honest and very realistic that I could totally relate to. It is told in several POV’s, which I love. It is a little quirky and the characters will find their way into your heart. Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes is funny and full of witty banter and will definitely leave you with a light heart and a smile on your face. If you are looking for a great story full of drama, romance, love and laughter then look no further.

He’s a hot, shirtless hockey player…and he’s my fake date for my ex-husband’s wedding. Talk about a hot flash to beat all hot flashes.
The wedding bells are ringing and my ex-husband is the groom! When my grown kids hook me up with a fake date to my ex-hubby’s tropical island nuptials, I expect sun, sand, and plenty of fruity cocktails—not steamy nights with a shirtless pro hockey player!
Roman might be all swagger on the ice, but this growly, egotistical male model of perfection has a soft side too. While I battle dresses made for twenty-somethings, awkward run-ins with my ex, and unwelcome hot flashes, Roman is there to distract me with flirty compliments, stay up late with me when I can’t sleep, and make me feel vibrant and ageless.
As good as it feels, none of this is real, and Roman is way out of my league. Who’s going to believe this gorgeous, famous, muscle-bound athlete would ever date a scatterbrained, hot-flashing, insomniac nerd with twenty stubborn extra pounds around the middle?
But as the big day approaches, we grow closer. Wedding activities lead to beach walks at sunset, and his oh-so-talented fingers twist my hormones up in a whole new way. Gazing into Roman’s eyes, I start to wonder if he could be my shot at a real happily ever after.
That’s the thing about vacations, though; at some point, you need to return to reality.

Having read Ales fair in love and war I couldn’t wait to get my grubby little hands on Smooth Hoperator ❣️📚
What is there not to love about our Sunny girl !? First off she’s a librarian ! She’s quirky and peculiar! She even crochets little goats 🐐 and she loves her grandpa Duke ❣️the only thing I could fault her for perhaps is the fact that she’s wasting her time on Sebastian when Carter , a perfect speciMAN is right under her nose …
So Carter picked up on irregularities and he didn’t like what was going down and when he starts ruffling feathers he gets threatened so he decided to go off the grid and heads home and spends a lot of time in the library and the family brewery .
Carter gets Duke on board with his theory and Sunny gets on board as well and in return Carter will do things to get Sebastian to notice Sunny but this guy is a real chop so I think she just needs to forget him and move onto Carter 🥰
It was good to catch up with old friends and skunky pets and dirty old birds 🤣I laughed hard so many times and found myself quoting bits I read to any willing ear ❣️📚there was also a bit of suspense and romance and really just a fun read where characters become friends ❣️📚

It took a little bit for me to get into this story, I blame it on my family interrupting my reading time every other word, but once I got into I really enjoyed this book. While this is book 2, you don’t need to read book 1 but if you want a little more details on some things mentioned in this book I would read in order.
This did overlap with events in book 1 but was to be expected with the nature of events taking place. I really loved Sunny, she reminded me of me, unable to say no, a people pleaser and loves her family. Carter was quiet but I enjoyed what we did learn of him along the way. But my favorite person was Duke he tied this all together and made for some laughs. I cannot wait for the next one!

I loved this book! This is the second book in this series but can be read as a stand alone. It takes place AFTER book 1, follows the story line of different but adjacent characters, and any information you need is given to you. If you’re the type of person who like to follow characters throughout a series, this book is for you! I was excited to hop into this one and figure out what was going on from the first book. This store is cute and light hearted and captures the story of a mysterious guy with a good heart. The characters are so relatable and its a very easy read!

Smooth Hoperator: A Fake-Relationship Romance (Love on Tap Book 2)
These Brooks brothers can’t be more different from one another. They each have their endearing qualities and Carter’s superpower is being a broody and quiet guy with an amazing awareness of right and wrong.
Sunny is the eternal optimist who refuses to see the bad in anyone and also will do anything to help people out to her detriment. She gets taken advantage of though I don’t think she felt that way because she loves to help any and every one.
There is such an interesting cast of characters in this book. Duke the paranoid old man, Sebastian the granola hippy next door and Mia the best friend just to name a few.
There are so many laughs throughout the book and a happy ending. Definitely what I have come to expect from Ms. Stewart. I’m really looking forward to the most entertaining Brooks brother, Miller. I have a feeling I won’t be able to put it down.
I loved this book and love the series. Ms. Stewart has a way to suck you in to the story in the best way.

I am totally in love with this series and this talented, creative author! The Brooks family is qwerky, 100% relatable and real. They all weave their way into your heart so easily. This second book of the series is mainly about Carter and Sunny but you still have glimpses of the rest of the family. If you haven’t actually read book 1 don’t worry there is nothing stopping you from reading this book and fully enjoying it but I say read them all! I can’t wait for more from the Love on Tap series. I just know there is so much more fun to be had with these wonderful characters.

Another wonderful story in this series! Not as fun and funny as the first but still a good one. I love the family and all their quirks and of course I cant wait for Miller’s story as he seems the most rambunctious and entertaining of the three boys. Carter is more stoic and serious but his little librarian has all the stuff he is missing including but not limited to the outrageous octogenarian. I think I would have liked this more with less political entanglements as that seemed to pull out the more serious stuff.
Overall this is a cute story with fun sprinkled throughout. I look forward to Miller’s story and seeing what he has gotten into this time.

This is the second book in the Love on Tap series, which focuses on Sunny and Carter. This can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend going back to read the first one, it’s great.
This is another brilliant book in the series, I love it just as much as the first! Once again, this is one I knew I’d love but it still exceeded my expectations. The humour is great, and the story is well-written and the characters well-constructed. The characters feel real and are relatable as they leap off the pages and their chemistry is perfect.
Another series to add to my favourites list, I love it so much and cannot wait for the next book in the series!

This is the first in the Love on Tap series which focuses on Hollis and Cash. After reading the blurb I was already sure I’d love it, it seemed right up my street and humorous as a bonus. It was so much better than I expected!
The story was well-constructed and fun – the pranks and love/hate relationship were entertaining and made their chemistry leap off the pages. The characters were well-written and felt believable, I could almost see them as real friends.
Hollis was the sunshine and Cash the grumps, but together they’re perfection. Honestly, their chemistry and personalities complimented each other so well, I could rave about the pair all day.
This was a brilliant start to the series and will certainly leave you wanting more, as it has done with me.
I look forward to discovering more from this author!

Carter had a successful career in politics mapped out for him ever since High School and his first debate, but over the past year he has slowly become disillusion with the whole thing on Capitol Hill. When he discovers his mentor may have sold herself out for money and while trying to understand the dilemma he is in, he overhears a conversation that turns his whole world upside down and has him leaving DC and returning home to hide.
Once at home, he picks up his job with his brother in the Brewery as Brew master all while trying to investigate into what he overheard, but as this is becoming more and more dangerous he needs to be more careful, but researching at the library is becoming more difficult but when the Librarian decides to make him her pet project things are going to turn out ugly and dangerous.
Sunshine has always wanted to be a Librarian, she loves the facts and knowledge that is uncovered under her walls and when she spots a homeless man coming in every couple of weeks, she takes it upon herself to help him with what ever addiction he has, but as time goes on Sunny is drawn into a world of espionage, cover ups and danger, can she survive a) the bad guys and b) the attraction of the stranger in the Library.
Can Carter keep Sunny safe and his family, all while exposing the corruption on Capitol Hill.
Oh my, I love, love, love this author and this story is no different. This is a stand alone story regarding Carter and Sunny and is part of the Love on Tap Series. Carter in the first book was the brooding brother who sneaked around the brewery and not really interacting with anyone, so reading him in this book was a great insight into him as a person. Sunny was just the most brilliant sidekick to him with her optimistic outlook on life against the grey and pessimistic world of Carter where brilliant to read.
I can also appreciate the quirky characters as in Duke, Sunny’s grandfather and Knuckles the spy were hilarious to read and brought a light hearted feel to the story. As always Miller’s antics brought a smile and overall I loved all the secondary characters which just embrace the story and make it what it is.
There are some many questions which I hope are answered in the next books, like does Miller find out who’s following him? Does Gina and Duke have a thing going on? and what’s Lynne up to at college as there has to be a story there.
Thank you for the enjoyment and entertainment of all your stories and look forward to reading the next book and books lol.

This is second book in the Love on Tap series. And I really enjoy these books. Even though it is part of a series it can be read as a standalone. However after reading one you will definately want to read more. The author does a great job with the characters making them relatable and also likeable. Their personalities really jump off the pages. This is the story of Sunny and Carter. This is definstely an opposite attracts story as Sunny and Carter couldn’t be more different if they tired. Sunny is a happy soul. She always looks on the brightside of life. Her personality and love of life shines through in her choice of clothing. Sunny works as a librarian and definately sounds like someone I would like to be friends with. Carter returns home after leaving his political career. Carter seems like the brooding type and when he meets Sunny she is definately not his type. However as they spend more time together their relationship starts to progress and grow and Carter soon realises that Sunny is exactly what he needs to bring some sunshine back into his life again.
This is a slow burn romance with some parts that will make you laugh at the antics they get up to. You can feel their feelings grow as the story progresses and their connection is so strong you can’t help but read to see if they actually get together. What happens with the fake relationship between Carter and Sunny starts to feel more real than either of them thought it would.
