Taken By Surprise (The Marcy Series Book 7)Taken By Surprise by Linda Burson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is a continuation from book six. The series so far has been pretty good but this one is one that I couldn’t fully get into. I’m not sure if it was the distraction or if it was kind of slow but it was a good book. The characters as always are amazing. The author has great detail and a lot of great descriptions to make you feel like you were there. It’s a good read and still suggest to read with the whole series!

Taken By Surprise (The Marcy Series Book 7)Taken By Surprise by Linda Burson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Taken by Surprise is Book 7 in the March Series by Linda Burson. This series should be read in order because unfortunately, I did not read all the books leading up to this one and was kind of lost when certain things happened. Not knowing why or what happened to cause the characters tondo what they did.

The 3 main characters in the book are Marcy, Brad and Liam. They have an uncommon relationship which not many people know about.

I didn’t like how the 3 of them were always arguing and fighting over everything but, they always seem to make up and be happy again. This book kept me entertained with so much happening.

I have enjoyed reading a few books by this author and recommend reading this book if you have read the others leading up to book 7.

Taken By Surprise (The Marcy Series Book 7)Taken By Surprise by Linda Burson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Taken by Surprise the Marcy Series by Linda Burson is the seventh book in the series and picks up where the last one left up. I have really enjoyed reading this series and gotten to love the characters. The family dynamics is intriguing and complicated but it works for them and is ever evolving. Sometimes I want to smack some of them and in this one it was Brad, who sometimes I think he takes Marcy for granted and he keeps doing the same thing and being sorry. I am a little confused with Marcy and her strange behaviour, it really wasn’t explained so I hope we get it cleared up in the next installment. As usual Linda has written a story that grabs at you and reels you in as you journey along with these wonderful characters and their unique family and friends. There is lots of laughter and misunderstandings, love and secrets, friendships and miscommunication but for all that it is interesting and believable.

Now I am eagerly awaiting the next book.

Taken By Surprise (The Marcy Series #7) by Linda Burson – Review by Liz Vrchota

Taken By Surprise (The Marcy Series Book 7)Taken By Surprise by Linda Burson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Linda Burson has once more reeled me into the lives of Marcy, Brad, and Liam. Like I have said in my past reviews of this series, I normally get bored with series that are as large as this one. Taken by Surprise is the seventh installment. Even though this isn’t the conclusion, and appears to be far from it, I still keep coming back for more. These characters live with you long after you finish the novel. I can only imagine what it must be like for Linda Burson to live with these three and their supporting characters every single day.

Much like the last few novels, this one continues to divulge surprises that you never saw coming. Between weddings, love and its hardships, and everyday life obstacles, there is rarely a dull moment for the three. They continue to work on strengthening the relationship they have, regardless of how untraditional they may be they really believe they are doing the right thing for them, and I love that. Pick up Taken by Surprise after you have already read, in order, the previous six novels available in the series. You would not have a single clue what is going on if you were to just pick up here, and things would be quite confusing. I am anxious to see what life will throw these three in the next book to come,

Taken by Surprise (Marcy Series Book #7) by Linda Burson – Review by Angela Hayes

4 Stars

Taken by Surprise is the seventh book in the Marcy Series by Linda Burson. This story picks up from book six and has quite a lot going on between the covers that grabbed my attention. There are surprises, celebrations, birthdays, a wedding, hospital visits, stress, good news, unique family dynamics, past enemies, a little danger, discoveries, surprising developments, uncovering answers, emotions, romance, suspense, drama, tension… and more. Because this book/series has a continuing storyline that progresses from book to book- I really recommend reading the series in sequence, so you have all the information you need to make this a captivating reading experience and avoid any confusion.

I have really enjoyed following along as this series develops, each instalment adding more to the bigger picture that is being painted- keeping me intrigued and needing to know more, needing to see what happens next. The way the storyline has evolve is so clever, but it’s the way the characters have grown and developed over the course of the series that has made the biggest impression on me- they are not the same people we met at the beginning- especially Marcy, whose growth has impressed me the most. Also, the way their relationship/s evolved to where it is now has been wonderful to ‘watch’- Marcy, Brad and Liam have a complicated, unconventional family dynamics…. but it really seems to work for them- there is real love, understanding, patience, caring, romance and passion; as well as some more complex emotions/situations- such as tension, misunderstandings, and jealousy. But overall, they really do care for one another and make it all work. So, even though their situation is unconventional- Ms. Burson writes it in such a way that it is interesting, understandable, relatable and believable.

Another thing that continues to impress me with this series is that with so many instalments in the collection, and with more yet to come, it would be easy to assume that somewhere along the line the thread/storyline would lag, struggle, or lose momentum- but that is NOT the case with this series/book- as each instalment is able to hold its own, and enhances the overall storyline.

I thought after reading book #6 that this was probably going to be the last book in the series, but I am happy to find out that it isn’t- so now I can’t wait for book #8- “Extinguishing Emotions”!

Thank you, Ms. Burson!
