This is a fantastic take on a fairy tale. It definitely is a new spin on the tale of King Midas. This story shows Branka and her journey from being a servant to having exceptional powers. All because she meets a leprechaun. This story was absolutely enchanting and I enjoyed every second of it. In general I do not like stories that feature magical elements, however, I definitely love a good fairy tale that reminds me of the stories I heard as a child. This definitely reminded me of those stories and I highly recommend picking this book up!

This book was a good one. It had a very old Fairytale vibe but still had originality and I enjoyed it. The author had a good writing style and the main characters were enjoyable. I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future! Happy Reading!

This story is definitely a conglomeration of multiple fairy tales, but they all have a way of tying together. It starts as a Rumplestilskin-esque story, following the tale of a servant who basically gets held hostage by the king. It has really good flow, and can be knocked out in an hour or two if you’re a faster reader.

The beginning does bring you into the story with a tale and there is always a moral to the story. The characters are wonderful and unique. I like how there are several fairy tales in one book. As you’re reading this novel, you will seem like you’re living in that time period.

This is a love story. It is also a new take on the tale of King Midas. It’s a cautionary tale about yearning for what you think you lack. There is magic, so much magic, and the author seems to be saying that true magic lies in contentment. And, of course, the strongest magic of all is that of true love.

This was a beautifully written fantasy adventure. It is a young adult story however I enjoyed it just as much. It is full of magic, mischief, forbidden love, danger and adventure around every corner. I loved the way the old saying “be careful what you wish for” comes into play in a big way in this story. The story itself is unique however the author uses parts of other stories and tales which to me make it even more magical.
The story focuses around a orphaned maid who as the story progress we learn is not all she seems. When she finds a magical creature which could give her what she needs to be free of her life as a servant she feels hope for the future. However, things don’t go as she imagined and when other find out about her gift it leads her on a adventure to escape the wish she thought she wanted. With so many elements and characters it is a fast paced magical read that I wasn’t able to put down until I completed the story. I can’t wait to read this to my neices who i know will adore it.

Tears Into Gold by Cori Cooper. This is a great fantasy read. Its the story of Branka a orphaned scullery maid who is in love with boy who she knows will never love her back. She is a maid for the Lord and Lady Fitzgerald at their manor. The boy that Branka loves is out of her social class and it would be frowned upon if not forbidden. Since Branka can’t have the boy she loves she wishes for her and Momma Cook’s freedom but when you wish for something it often comes at a price. When Branka makes her wish and becomes a magical being. As this magical being she has powers she never dreamed of. This fun book is a slow burn romance with magic, fantasy and fairy tales all entwined. I read this book in one sitting because I could not put it down!

This book was quite interesting. Branka is a scullery maid and all she wants is freedom for her and Mama Cook. She is able to get this wish, but at what cost? Ontop of all of this, she is in love with a boy who is above her station and it is forbidden. This book had me in from the get go and had a whole variety’s worth of classical stories rolled into one story. I absolutely loved it. I’m going to have my daughter who is 11 and I know she will love something like this! I can’t wait to read other books by this author!

Cori Cooper Tears Into Gold features Branka and her journey from being a servant in the Fitzgerald House to a magical being with exceptional power. One early morning, Branka was digging potatoes from the field for the daily meals when she found a leprechaun. Patrick “Paddy” Godfrey McDoodle offered her anything she wanted, as any fae creatures were not free to leave without doing so. Branka wanted Mama Cook and her freedom to no longer be servants. To do this she asked for a detailed outline of what her request was. She wanted the ability to change any inanimate object into gold, but it could not belong to her, be a living thing, or hurt anyone. Paddy agreed, but added that the ability would only work with heartfelt tears. Then the leprechaun disappears. Chaos is quick to ensue and Branka must face several ordeals. Somehow the king learned Branka could change items into gold and she was taken from the Fitzgerald home. Throughout the following months, Branka thinks of Oskar Fitzgerald and Mama Cook.
This is a slow-burn romance story. I found some popular children’s stories infused, such as Little Red Riding Hood, The Sword IN the Stone, The Princess and the Pea, and The Troll on The Bridge. The characters were altered, and the tales were used to describe some scenes and brought back memories from my youth. This is a short, entertaining book that I recommend to anyone who enjoys magical stories with well-developed characters.

This book was so much better than I could have hoped for! Such a wonderfully unexpected fairytale! I found myself not being able to put Tears Into Gold down for more than a minute! I kept picking it back up just dying to know what happened next! I was hooked by the first page and immediately encapsulated by the story that Drake tells! I loved the morals that Cooper includes! The pacing is also absolutely perfect! Cooper makes sure that her story is fast paced without feeling rushed! Her imagery and attention to detail is also pure gold. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more books by Ms. Cooper in the future! I highly recommend this wonderful story!

4 stars Tears Into Gold is a Teen & Young Adult Fairy Tale & Folklore adaptation aimed for those aged 8 to 18 years. But people of all ages will enjoy it too. I have read and enjoyed a lot of Cor’s books and was excited to see what this book was all about. This whimsical tale is original and fun and entertaining. Cori has cleverly woven several fairy tales together to create a magical mishmash tale. It is a story where class and station matter. A tale of forbidden love. The characters are beautifully written, and the storyline is intriguing. It is easy to imagine this world that Cori has created and brought to life. This is a must read for those that like a story that is full of magic, dreams, fantasy, wishes, wants, hopes, a twist or two and much more. But it is a place where the old adage is ‘be careful what you wish for’ holds true. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

This was a wonderful and magical story full of whimsy and surprise. I love books with a fairy tale feel and this story did not disappoint! It felt like several fairy tales all woven together to create an imaginative story. I thought the author did a wonderful job of creating characters that you really care about and came together to create a fabulous story. Branka was a wonderful heroine who just wants love and freedom and discovers why you have to be careful what you wish for. The ending definitely had a twist I did not see coming and it was a tale I was not able to put down until the final page. This was definitely a unique story and I look forward to reading more from the author.

This was a wonderfully written novel with an intriguing storyline which kept me captivated throughout. The main character Branka is an orphaned scullery maid, who works for Lord and Lady Fitzgerald at their manor House. Branka is in love with a boy who she knows can never love her back, and so feeling like her life is hopeless she wishes for freedom. However, in Branka’s world GOLD is freedom and she soon discovers why people should be careful what they wish for. This story has a whimsical fairytale feel to it and seemed to be a mix of different fairytales. Branka is a likeable and relatable young girl, and I felt immersed in her world due to the detailed descriptive narrative which brought the fantasy world to life. An enjoyable and engaging read, and one which I recommend all ages reading.

Tears Into Gold is a fantasy fairy book designed for children from the ages of eight to eighteen years old. It is a fun, whimsical read full of magic, fantasy, dreams, and wishes. This is an entertaining book that reads much like a fairytale within a fairytale. The storyline centers around a young girl named Branka who is in love with someone she knows she can never truly have. The boy she loves is out of her social class and a relationship between them would be strictly forbidden. The one thing that Branka wishes for is to have freedom but that wish could come at a price. This was an interesting read that was far different from any other book that I have ever read. Clever, entertaining, and unique. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Tears Into Gold by Cori Cooper is an original and fun fantasy story that has a definite fairytale feel to it. I got the ‘vibe’ of several well-known and loved fairytales from this story, such as Cinderella, Rumpelstiltskin, and the Emperor’s New Clothes. It gave the story an extra element of intrigue and mystery that I really loved. I have read and enjoyed all of Ms. Cooper’s books, and this was no exception. I Can’t wait to see what she does next. Happy reading!

This is such an interesting and unique book. It is a mix of different stories combined together in a way that creates a new and refreshing book. I was pulled into this story right from the start and really enjoyed how the author weaved everything together. The book had some fantastic characters. The way they all tied into the stories and the interactions between them were a joy to read. I thought they each added something to the book. I also enjoyed the fact that this book felt so different from other books that I have read by this author. This was a really great book and I would certainly recommend it.

She’s an orphaned scullery maid working at the manor house of Lord and Lady Fitzgerald, in love with a boy who can never love her back. More than anything, she wishes for freedom. And in Branka’s world, GOLD is freedom. There’s a reason people should be careful what they wish for.
Cori Cooper lives in the magical Arizona Mountains, which she’s pretty convinced is the setting for all the fairy tales.
Besides writing stories, she adores hanging out with her family, playing board games, hiking and baking, baking, baking. Like Cat’s family, she’s positive Cinnamon Rolls fix everything.
