Competing with the Star by Krysten Lindsay Hager – Review by Crystal Davidson

Competing with the StarCompeting with the Star by Krysten Lindsay Hager
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Competing with the Star by Krysten Lindsay Hager is the second book in the series. This book is a continuation of the first one, which tells the story of Hadley- a young girl who is new to her town and school, and adjusts to fit in. Her next door neighbor is a TV star who is seemingly her friend, but as the story unfolds Hadley begins to wonder is she really her friend? Hadley experiences many ups and downs while settling into the next chapter of her life, and she learns who her friends are, and who is just pretending. This story was an excellent read that I would recommend for all ages. The plot is realistic and the characters are very easy to relate to, and many of them are extremely likable. I give this book. 5 stars and I’m anxious to read what’s coming next!

Apocalypse NOPE!! by Deidre Huesmann-Review by Jerricka Brown

Apocalypse NOPE!!Apocalypse NOPE!! by Deidre Huesmann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was positively amazing. I am a fan of young adult/teen books and this one is now in my top ten of favorites. I love how the characters all flowed together and each one still stood out alone. I also love the LGBTQIA+ factor in it also. It is really a great work of art for teens who need to see more representation and know that they are not alone.

Winging It (Destiny Rules Series Book 1) Lisa Gail Green – Review by Emily Walsh

Winging It (Destiny Rules Series Book 1)Winging It
By: Lisa Gail Green
My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Winging It (Destiny Rules Series Book 1) Lisa Gail Green was a fast moving hooking read, that left me wanting more.

Wow, like wow, I am beyond impressed with this fresh, unique, original read that I can’t even progress right now. I don’t normally read YA books with a male MC, I’m glade I took that change because I would have missed out on probably of the best reads of the year so far. Now true there are some typical YA cliché and tropes, but they were done in a way that wasn’t over powering or annoying. It was weird, because I found myself enjoying the story more with those nods. The plot was on point, witty and fun, like you can sense the danger and the urgency, but with Zach voicing the story, it had this snarky tone that just draws you in and hooks you. I loved pretty much everything about this book, and the twists and turns, man, this book keeps you on your toes.

Overall if you haven’t guessed, this book gets my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval. Trust me, you need this book in your life.

Happy Reading

Shortcuts (Singularities) by Amy Bearce – Review by Emily Walsh

Shortcuts (Singularities)Shortcuts
By: Amy Bearce
My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shortcuts (Singularities) by Amy Bearce was a hooking fun, engaging, well crafted and just, made me fall back in love with YA.

My first read by this author,. and I have to say I am going to be adding her to my watch list. This book is fresh, different and just had this wicket vibe to it. It had things I love about YA, and it has the things I wish other YA series had. It felt almost real, even with the powers. Man I’m having a time trying to get out how special this book is. On a technical side, this book is as I said, well crafted. The writing is smooth, connecting and it draws you in. The detail was spot on, and I felt at times I was watching a movie, I just got completely lost in this book. The characters, not just the MC, are loveable, realistic, and properly some of the best I’ve read about this year.

If anything you need to give this book a chance, and if you were like me and falling out of love with YA, this book will drawn you back in rekindle a new love. This book broke the mold, and it gets my super high recommendation, and my golden stamp of approval.

Happy Reading

Destiny. Is it chosen by you, or for you? At seventeen, Gemma thought she knew the answer. Then life, and destiny, got in the way.
Gemma and her friends only want to finish high school and get on with their lives. But these friends share unusual characteristics that nobody else possesses. They dismiss them as quirks of nature until an otherworldly encounter at a local park reveal the four are marked as The Chosen.
When the friends realize who and what they are, they must enlighten themselves to the truth of our shared human history. It is not what we’ve all been taught, or what we believe. European royalty and their relentless quest for the most precious of jewels, World Wars and the re-drawing of maps, nothing is as it has always appeared. The history books have lied.
The Chosen must find the precious lost Orbs before time runs out. Their adventure will pit them against powerful forces and dangerous foes to fulfill their destiny and save humanity.
Can the future of humanity be trusted to four teenagers, even four extraordinary ones? For fans of the Librarians TV series and Harry Potter’s search for the Horcruxes.
