My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This author had me hooked from the first book in the Antipodes series, and I can’t believe that this installment is just as interesting and engaging! This is definitely a series that must be read in order because if you don’t, you will inevitably get lost without the detailed background. I was once again pulled into this story right away and it kept my attention through the last page. I had a very difficult time putting this book aside to do my real-world duties because I couldn’t stop thinking about what would happen next. Cait and Sera are in for the journey of their lives, but it will be an incredibly dangerous one. Pick this up and lose yourself in this captivating addition, you won’t regret it!

The 45th Parallel (The Latitude Series #1)The 45th Parallel by T.S. Simons
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Seraphine and Caitlyn are sisters in a post apocalyptic world where people aren’t nearly as important as what is required for survival – including what they want or how they feel about their duties. They were turned into immune children by a previous regime who had a goal to repopulate their communities – their own, Lewis, consists of a dome underwater – the dome protects the humans from the infected water all around them.

Sera and Cait are smart young women and have dreams and desires – but how will they manage to escape their fates when they’re surrounded by water they can’t touch and the Nexus which was shut down by their own parents 14 years ago. Well…sounds like the best bet is to restart the Nexus!

This book isn’t really my normal read, but I enjoyed the range of emotions the girls felt as they made a plan and executed it. They discover a lot about themselves along the way and find lots of trouble, too. When they enter the Nexus, they find themselves in new communities they didn’t even know existed, and find both similarities and differences between the new communities they continue to locate. Will they be able to find their way home? Will they be able to keep the communities safe while they do so?

This is book one in the latitude series. The journey of Caitlin and Seraphine is filled with danger, conflict and love as well as secrets that will be revealed. I appreciated the angst of becoming your own person while struggling to put the community first. It made the characters seem more alive on the page. I have enjoyed this series from the start. Each book holds its own dynamic and own unique feel. This story is of the daughters and their specific journey. Every step you feel like you are with them. Angst, drama, and a touch of love attached. Book 6 is just as amazing as the first 5.

The 45th Parallel (Antipodes, #6)The 45th Parallel by T.S. Simons
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book in the Antipodes series is different from the others as the min focus is not Cam and Freja like the previous books, however this by no means affected to quality of the author’s work. The story focuses on other characters who inhabit the same world – Caitlin and Seraphine. They are given a purpose however they are unhappy with the life that has been laid out for them so leave on their own adventure. The way this was written, much like the author’s previous books, is great. The writing flows so well and makes the world they have created more accessible and easier to navigate.
I was a little apprehensive that given my love for the characters in the previous books, I may find it difficult to relate and connect with the new characters in the same way, but I needn’t have worried. As usual the author delivered complex and compelling characters that you can’t help but get emotionally invested in.
Caitlin and Seraphine have a great dynamic and unfortunately experience their share of turmoil when they are forced to make difficult decisions which affect not only them, but the people they love. This doesn’t stop their personalities from shining through, making you fall in love with them.
I am so glad I gave this series a chance and will certainly keep my eye on this talented author for more!

Caitlin and Seraphine have grown up on the island of Lewis with their family, but they are not just your usual girls, they live under a dome which protects their families from the infected water which surrounds them, they just happen to be immune to the virus and are the future of humanity. The two girls are intelligent and are always getting themselves into some sort of trouble and the according punishments when they are caught, but all they want to do is escape their structured and calculated lives, they want their freedom and to forget their responsibilities, just like anyone their age would.

One day things haven’t exactly gone to plan for the two and so they decide to up sticks and leave in the middle of the night and escape the problems which they have caused, again, so they decide to use their technical skills to travel somewhere new. They have decided it is about time that the Nexus is reactivated, it has been a long time since anyone used it and for good reason, but now that they have figured out how to do it, they think that they are onto a good thing, but they didn’t bank on nature throwing a wrench in.

As they go through the Nexus, they realise that they are not where they expected they would be, they cannot understand what has happened, or even where they are, but they decide to explore and if they can, leave and travel over land to their final destination, but what they discover as they try to leave is more dangerous than anything they have could have imagined and they are in a whole new world of trouble. Can Cait and Sera figure out what has happened and what both the near and far future holds for them, or will it all come crashing down around them? This is an action packed epic sci-fi adventure where nothing is as it seems and twists and turns will keep you guessing throughout while discoveries are made and secrets are revealed in this unmissable and immersive world the author has created.

Oh my I wasn’t expecting so much of this series! I am so glad that I decided to read this post apocalyptic series even though it isn’t the norm for me. I did lose some sleep because I couldn’t wait to finish it. Quite a few times I fell asleep with the eBook in my hand, as I do most of my reading at night once my kiddos are in bed. Anyways, this series starts out with Cam. The first two books are in his point of view. The third book switches from his point of view to that of his wife’s (Freyja). Then books four and five are in her view. But book six is in Caitlin’s point of view. She is one of the children that grew up on Lewis. She and her sister Seraphine are fed up with their lives. As their lives have been calculated since before birth they long for something different. More adventure. They were created for the sole purpose of ensuring the survival of the human race. A virus in the water killed the world. The plants, the animals, and most of the humans. Scientist quickly came up with a plan to place biodomes around the world to try and save the human race (read more in book 1). There was a very lengthy test to pick candidates to live while everyone else perished. About 300 people were in each dome. Some domes connect, but that’s a whole thing (again read the rest of the series for all that craziness!) itself. Most domes were on the coast or on islands, but there were a few inland as well. Scientist resided in two of the domes, whereas the rest of the selected people were spread out in the other domes. Back to the girls. Being immune children who’s purpose is to save the human race, there is a lot of pressure on them. Ordered around and everything planned for them gets old fast. Being 21 with a special role to live up to, but what if you reject your sole purpose? You’ve been specifically designed for a reason, but you don’t care. Cait and Sera endanger not only themselves but everyone they love when they run off. Embarking on a very dangerous and yet thrilling journey, they reactivate the Nexus (read the other books for more info on that too!! Just read the set man!!) and discover new underwater worlds they never new existed. Will this journey end up killing one or both of them? What about their loved ones? Will they survive through these once again hard times. Dangerous people in a dangerous world that you know nothing about isn’t want these girls thought about, but now they must face that and more! They have opened up their home to invasion by struggling communities and they have to stay alive long enough to contact their family. Can they even get back home? What will they have to sacrifice in order to make it back? I can’t wait for the author to write more once rested! This is such a wonderful series!! If you read this set you HAVE to read it in order. You could read this one as a stand alone, BUT you get so much information in the others that you will probably kick yourself for it. Trust me, you want to read them all! I will be not so patiently waiting for more!!!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The 45th Parallel is a great continuation in the Antipodes Series. This book focuses more on the next generation of survivors, the children of the people chosen to live within the domes. Caitlin and Seraphina have lived their whole lives within the dome on Lewis, but long for adventure as they grow up. Adventure they find when they reactivate the antipodal point that allowed travel between communities. However, new communities are discovered, along with a whole new set of threats and dangers. This book had me on edge from the very beginning. Although this book could be read as a stand alone, I think the whole series is better read in order. There are so many characters, as well as so many different communities and backstories, that it would be difficult to understand any of the later books without first reading the books that came before. T. S. Simons is one of my new favorite authors! She has consistently delivered wonderful characters, full of life, and ones you can’t help but feel connected to, as well as surprisingly realistic worlds and settings. I can’t wait to read more from her!

I was so surprised and thrilled to hear that Simons has continued this series! This story focuses on Seraphine and Caitlin, two of the immune children against the infested waters. In the beginnings of their adulthood and feeling oppressed with how they have been living. As many of the adventures they have grown up hearing about, they are very eager to have one of their own and see what they find. They end up finding another underwater parallel that has been surviving on their own means as they also learn of other struggling communities. Through the emotional upheavals, they learn through this experience and bring them to the point of thinking whether they will be able to go back to their upbringing community or stay within this new one. To best understand the story, I highly recommend reading the previous books in the series and it will be so worth it!

The 45th Parallel is from the viewpoint of Freyja and Cam’s daughter, Caitlin. She is about to turn 21 and has a knack for mischief with her sister Seraphine. They are both special children with the ability to survive the protozoa including the infected water. Not surprisingly they are bored with their current lives and long for adventure. They want to travel the world as their parents have. When their travels don’t go as planned they may have bitten off more than they can chew.

I enjoyed this new addition to the Antipodes Series. It is nice to learn how all the characters are doing after 14 years later. Cait’s point of view is that of a young adult trying to find her place in the world. I highly recommend reading this series!

In the next installment of Antipodes, Caitlin and Seraphine are sisters who were created to be immune to the deadly protozoa that has ravaged the earth. Now adults, they struggle to find a place where they feel like they belong. Between causing men to get into a fight over one of them and illegally travelling between communities, the sisters are on a downward spiral. When they reactivate the Nexus to explore other communities, their luck only gets worse. When they meant to land on August Island, they land on an unknown community. A community they later find to be hostile. The hostile community finds them, and they are captured. Will Caitlin and Seraphine be able to escape? Do they ever get back to their family? Pick up a copy of The 45th Parallel and follow the sisters through peril.
T.S. Simons does not disappoint. I loved this book just as much as the others. The characters and their feelings are relatable. You can feel right along with them and envision their struggles and journey. I highly suggest reading the other books in the series prior to reading this one, although you could probably get by with just reading this one. T.S. Simons does a good job at providing the reader with necessary information from previous installments, but you will be missing some of the backstory.
The Antipodes series has an amazing storyline, full of interesting events and relatable characters. The 45th Parallel is no different. If you are looking for a story full of twists, turns, mystery, thrill, and romance, pick up a copy of Antipodes today.

I love this series! This is the 6th book in the Antipodes series. I highly recommend reading the others, first. This would be a fine read by itself, but the entire experience is the recommended experience. Caitlin and Seraphine are sick and tired of doing whatever it is that they are told, and long to branch out and see different places, and do different things. They long to make their own decisions about their lives, so they set out on a journey that will challenge them. There is action, emotion, and great characters and development. This dystopian sci-fi adventure is not unimaginable in this day-and-age. It kept me glued to my seat and turning those pages! If you haven’t read any of this series, be prepared to dive in and spend some time. 5 stars.

The 45th Parallel (Antipodes, #6)The 45th Parallel by T.S. Simons
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The 45th Parallel is the sixth book in the Antipodes Series. This book follows many of the children of the individuals from the first five books in the series, but the main focus is on Caitlin and Seraphine. They were born with a specific goal in mind of repopulating the community and keep it immune from disease. Cait and Sera have been told all of their lives that is their destiny to do so but they want more from life than to breed and populate the community. They want adventure and choose to reactivate the Nexus in search of new communities and to see what else is out there. In doing so they get more than they bargained for and are suddenly swept up in events beyond their wildest imagination.

Cait and Sera find themselves in an underwater community where strict rules are in place to prevent overpopulation. The community is ruled with an iron fist and outsiders are forbidden. Cait and Sera do their best to remain hidden until they are able to travel back but one small mistake ends with them getting caught. Will they be able to escape back to the safety of their own community before it is too late?

This book was fantastic and I enjoyed how the author chose to tell the story of the children from the inhabitants of the community of Lewis. The characters were lovable, and the setting was an interesting spin to the story. Cait and Sera were strong willed, independent, feisty, and smart young ladies. All traits that they clearly inherited from their parents. The underwater community was a fascinating aspect to the story, and I enjoyed reading about how it worked. This entire series is a must read and I highly recommend it! You will find mystery, action, suspense, intrigue, love, romance, loss, and even murder. I highly recommend!

I was super excited with book #6 in this series….it is a fantastic set and I highly recommend reading this series right from the beginning. This book continues the story and pick up with Caitlin and Seraphine, whom was adventure and excitement in life.

Caitlin and Seraphine are more groomed to have a specific role…that role is to populate the community especially to help with immunities from diseases. The ladies want more than this in their life. When they decide that there is more and want adventure, the decision to reactive the Nexus laid before them bring them into a whirlwind of danger, drama and some romance…..this had me at the edge of seat to what happens next!!

The 45th Parallel (Antipodes, #6)The 45th Parallel by T.S. Simons
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The 45th Parallel is the sixth book in the Antipodes series. I would highly recommend starting at the first book in the series (Antipodes) and reading in order to get to know the large cast of characters and vast setting that has built up by this point in the series.
The Antipodes series is post-apocalyptic, set after a virus has made most of the surface of the planet uninhabitable. The protagonists of this book, Caitlin and Seraphine, are part of the next generation after the disaster who were created to be immune, and therefore more able to survive on the surface of the planet. It is expected that they will both have children, passing on their immunity to the next generation. But neither of them is keen to settle down, they are easily bored and always in search of their next adventure.
This is a fun continuation of the series! It’s good seeing the next generation of characters coming of age, with the older characters who were the focus of earlier books now viewed from a different angle. Cait and Sera are enjoyable characters – young and dissatisfied with the world they’re inheriting, but also caring for others and trying to make a positive impact.
This book gets five stars from me. I’d definitely recommend this series to fans of post-apocalyptic sci-fi!

I have read all of the other books and really enjoyed this follow up book about the daughters who are all grown up. We get to see how life has progressed on earth and the effects worldwide. I think because this book was about young people there was more language than in other books. Caitlin is very much a brat and highly intelligent and struggling to figure out where she fits in. When I picked up the first book I never imagined this series would be able to sustain this longevity or that I would enjoy it as much as I do and yet that is exactly what has happened. Each book just adds so much to the series overall and, like this one, is a brilliant story in its own right.
I loved getting back into these characters and their lives. It took no effort for this book to draw me back into their world and have me engrossed from start to finish. The 45th Parallel (Antipodes, #6)The 45th Parallel by T.S. Simons
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Caitlin and Seraphine are fed up with their lives being ordered around and planned for them. They long for adventure! One way to get to an adventure faster is to reactivate the Nexus that their parents shut down fourteen years ago. Imagine their surprise when they do such and then find themselves in a completely different community; one they never even knew of existing. They quickly learn that there are more communities like the one they landed in, and they are all underwater. While some of the communities have thrived as best they can, other communities have become more militaristic in their pursuit to stay alive. All of the lessons that they have learned over the years, be it by schooling or punishment, serves them in their very real situation of trying to stay alive long enough to contact home. Can they get back home at all? Or will they have opened up home to invasion by the communities that are struggling to survive? Will there even be a home to return to?

This was a fascinating read for me! Having read this series from the beginning, it was fun to see the girls’ point of view on how they saw things transpire. The book is from Caitlin’s point of view, and she is a 21-year-old struggling to come to grips with what it means for her to have a “special role” to fulfill in order for mankind to even have the possibility of living outside the domes and underwater communities. I think the author caught her angst of wanting to be on her own, but guilt at how she snuck around, and also leading her sister into danger. It was interesting to find out there were whole new communities and their struggles; seeing how they chose to deal with dwindling resources. While some exceeded expectations, other grew hostile and guarded.

I am looking forward to seeing the next installment in this series and what the author adds next!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Having read and enjoyed the previous books in the Antipodes series, I was looking forward to this novel, and I was not disappointed. I would personally recommend reading these novels in order, so you have a better understanding of the continuing storyline. Set in the same dystopian world where a virus decimated the planet, this novel centres on Caitlin and Seraphine. They have both grown up on Lewis and have an ordered and calculated life. They are both ‘immune children’, created by the previous regime in order to ensure the survival of the human race. As there are only a few surviving communities left on earth, the girls destiny weighs heavily on them.
Cait and Sera are expected to have babies that will then be immune like they are, they are told that their role, “in re-settling the world is critical”. However, the girls reject this role and so they leave to embark on a thrilling and dangerous adventure, reactivating the Nexus, and discovering new worlds. By doing this Cait and Sera are endangering not only themselves but their loved ones. Once again I was drawn in to the world created by the author, who brings both the setting and characters vividly to life through the detailed, descriptive narrative. I loved the main characters Cait and Sera and the dynamic between them. I was gripped throughout and was kept happily turning the pages.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 6th book in the Antipodes series and is 340 pages in length. This story follows Caitlin and Seraphin from their POV. They grew up on Lewis and were created to make sure the human race survives. A virus has taken out most of the planet, but they are immune as they were created to resettle the world. But what if they don’t want to? Follow these two on their many adventures. I’ve read the previous books and thought they were done – I was pleasantly surprised to see this!

The 45th Parallel (Antipodes Series Book 6) by T.S. Simons – Review by Betsy Melano

The 45th Parallel (Antipodes, #6)The 45th Parallel by T.S. Simons
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is the 6th book in the Antipodes series. I had the pleasure of reading the whole series and this book didn’t disappoint. This Sci-fi series takes place in a post apocalyptic world full of adventure, mystery, challenges, and so much more. You won’t want to miss any part of this book or the rest in the series.

The author takes great care in writing this last book so we keep engaged with the many characters we’ve come to know so well as we read about what is happening with them in this book. The way the author shares this world and makes us the readers see that world she created is what keeps me interested and evolved as I read.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
