Kris is going to spend some time with her grandmother while her dad is away on a business trip. Kris begins to explore the woods and meets some new friends. One day, one of her new friends is missing and then she hears of another missing person…a prince! Kris and her friends go on an adventure to find the prince and her missing friend and add more new friends along the way.
This is a super cute book that, in a way, kinda reminded me of the Wizard of Oz. Kris is picking up friends along the way, all of whom are looking for something. Kids will enjoy using their imaginations to see these characters in the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this read!

All Kris wants to be is a knight, not a princess. She is determined to prove that she can do anything a boy can do. Kris stays at her grandmother’s farm while her dad is away for work. While there she ends up meeting all sorts of characters and finds herself on a journey to rescue a nearby kingdoms prince. She and her group of newfound friends learn what it is like to work as a team and show kindness to everyone they come across. This was a cute story for kids who love to read and have great imaginations.

Kris and the Missing Prince is the first book in The Adventures of Kris series by Art Blegen. This is a fun and intriguing child’s (beginner) chapter book- first instalment in this great little series… It was quite a fun read, with a wonderfully vivid adventure that draws you in and sweeps you up in all the developments… Well written, with plenty of imagination, there are some small (B + W) illustrations which head up each chapter, which also help to bring the story to life in the reader’s mind…. Kris’s love of reading, along with her very vivid imagination means that she finds an ‘adventure’ wherever she goes. Here, her father takes her to stay with Grandma Mable on her farm, where there’s lots of exploring to be done. She and Ralphie, Grandma Mable’s huge furry St. Bernard dog, have a wonderful time frolicking around the farm. But when she finally enters the woods to explore, where she not only meets some new friends, but also finds herself on a quest to rescue a missing prince. She’s a knight, not a princess- though. Facing obstacles, a bully, the threat from the evil gnome Gnalath, and more…. Her quick thinking and bravery help her face and overcome challenging situations- while also drawing us further into the story and her ‘world’. With action, fantasy, drama, high stakes, friendship, overcoming obstacles, mystery, and intrigue- made for an engaging read- and there are also some ‘lessons’ imparted along the way…. Each instalment to the series could be read as a standalone, as each has its own fully contained adventure, starring Kris. But, having said that, Kris finds herself in lots of interesting situations that result in fun adventures- which you will definitely want to be part of…. The series consists of (so far): -Kris & The Missing Prince (Book #1) -Kris & The Pirates (Book #2) -Kris and The Cowboys (Book #3 – releasing soon) -Kris & The Astronauts (Book #4 – coming later this year) Happy Reading…

After reading the first book in this series, the kids and I were all excited to get our hands on the next one. It was so great to get to know more about Kris and her adventures. This one is just as fun and imaginative as the other book and we all enjoyed it from the moment we started reading. The storyline was greatly entertaining. The host of other characters introduced made it so much more interesting to read and we loved each one of them entirely. My kids loved the pictures throughout the book and it made it more engaging and fun. This is shaping to to be a great series and one of our favourites.

5 Stars Kris & The Missing Prince (The Adventures of Kris) by Art Blegen
Kris & The Missing Prince is part of The Adventures of Kris Series . What a fun story that is aimed for children ages 6-10. This is an imaginative story that is packed with friendship, magic, adventure, Fairies and so much more. This is a fairly new author to my son and I but he really enjoyed this story and wants to read more. While Kris is at her grandmother’s house she finds adventure right there. Kris wants to be a knight not a princess. Kris sets put to be the best knight and takes us on quite the adventure. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. We look forward to reading more from this Author and going on more adventures.

Not every girl wants to be a princess, some girls want to the knight. Another wonderful Adventure with Kris. My grand kids love to read about Kris and her adventures, and this one was a hit. So well written that it is easy enough for young readers to follow along but enjoyable for the kids and for the adults. The illustrations are great. Filled with Magic, gnomes, fairies, elves and more. I love that it encourages kids to use and explore their imaginations. Also, the importance of friendships and family. I think it’s perfect for 6-10 yr. olds.

Art Blegen has created such an imaginative storyline and cast of characters for this book. Kris is a young girl who goes to stay with her Grandma in West Virginia while her dad works out of town. Kris loves to spend her days swimming in the pond and exploring at her Grandma’s farm. One day she ventures into the woods around the farm and this is where her adventure begins. If you or your children like to read about magical adventures then this book is for you. We can’t wait to jump into Kris’ next adventure.

Another adventure with Kris, and another story I got completely sucked into. Once again, through this author, Kris creates a fantasy world, and I get so lost in the story that I don’t realize that it is just her imagination until the end. Kris stands firm that she is not a princess just because she is a girl, girls can be knights. I love that she wants to be a knight and fight for good. I really like that Kris is so adventurous and curious. It was heartbreaking to read of her and her dad’s financial situation in the beginning, but how grateful Kris was to even be able to eat at all. They are a strong and resilient family and I enjoy the father and daughter interactions as much as I enjoy Kris’ imaginative adventures. The owl, Mr. Flattail, might have been my favorite character, I loved how the author made his speech, it gave his character so much more.

Kris & The Missing Prince is part of The Adventures of Kris Series and this is a wonderful, imaginative story filled with magic, adventure, gnomes, fairies, animals and friendship. This chapter book is for ages 6-10 years of age, but I believe you can be young at heart as well to enjoy the story. I know I really loved this book and I continue to look forward to more adventures of Kris.
When Kris goes to her Grandma’s house while her father is out of town, Kris finds an adventure right in the backyard! All Kris wants to be is a Knight….and not a princess. Kris is determined to be as good as a knight as any boy would be. When adventure finds Kris and the mystery of the Missing Prince, Kris treks out on her way to help find Prince Rodney. As Kris navigates to fight an evil gnome and free Prince Rodney…Kris finds help along the way.
With new friendships made…will Kris find the Prince? Definitely read and find out…what a fun filled adventure!

I liked the first Kris book I read better (I was engaged more), but this is still a solid 4 star read. The author continues to do a wonderful job of creating a strong and likable protagonist in Kris, who is both brave and determined.
he themes of friendship, imagination, and perseverance are woven throughout the story, making it both entertaining and meaningful. The writing is clear and engaging, making it easy for young readers to follow along and become immersed in Kris’s world. The illustrations are also charming and add an extra layer of visual appeal to the story.

An adorable tale of a girl that is a knight and not a princess. Kris is spending time with grandmother at her farm while her father is off for a work assignment. It is here she discovers a world that seems right out of one of her books within the woods. In trying to find her way out she befriends Gregory, a little terrified elf. He shares grave news with her about the missing Prince and mayor of his kingdom. Good thing Kris is a knight and can use her knight training to save these missing people and find her way home.
This book made for a great read with my children before bed. Friendship, imagination, and characters that are relatable can all be found in this adventure. It even reminded my daughter that just because she isn’t a boy doesn’t mean she cannot be a ninja turtle!

Another fun and exciting adventure with Kris. I sure wish I had an imagination that vivid and exciting. This is a fun adventure where Kris doesn’t just settle for being a little princess. She’s the knight that rescues the prince. I have to say I snorted when she took the neighbor boy out at the knees. She’s got spunk. This is a fun story set for the young ones but those of mature can enjoy it too. Brings back memories. I’m going to look forward to going on more adventures with Kris. I have lots of grandkids to share this with. We can use our imagination together.

Kris & The Missing Prince is the first book in The Adventures of Kris series by Art Blegen. It is a colourful and imaginative chapter book adventure story. It is aimed at children aged from six to ten years old. Just like Kris readers will be swept into the story as she finds herself in a magical world of creatures of all shapes and sizes right in Grandma’s back yard. Kris has a wild and vivid imagination, and she is not one to sit back, she is one for getting into the thick of things as she is faced with trying to thwart an evil gnome and rescue the prince. This delightful imaginative children’s story is full of fun, with illustrations. Art’s narrative leads to vividly imagined scenes that makes for a very engaging story. There are also things to learn along the way. You don’t have to be a child to love the adventure. I look forward to more of Kris’s adventures.

Raised by a single father, Kris bristles at being called a princess. She is as much a Knight as any boy! When you can pull her out of her books that is.
Left at her grandmother’s farm for a whole month, Kris begins to explore and finds herself in a strange world deep in the woods. A world filled with creatures directly out of her imagination.
While frantically searching for a way to get home, her newest friend, a terrified little elf named Gregory, gives her even more bad news. The kingdom’s prince, and the forest’s mayor have both been captured by an evil gnome named Gnalath.

Can they rescue the prince?
Can Kris find her way home again?

Kris & the Pirates: The Adventures of Kris by Art Blegen was such a fun book! My 3.5 and I used it as a read aloud and she thought the book was funny and has been pretending to be a pirate! This is a part of a series that I will absolutely be following. However, I didn’t read book one but that didn’t feel like it mattered much. Kris was meant to be going to a party with her dad but she didnt want to. She decided she was too big for that and wanted to read instead. Being so into the book, Kris’ imagination ran wild to where she was IN the story. Getting so lost in the book, she found herself in the jungle getting help from different animals and staying away from pirates. My daughter and I enjoyed this book. The author was descriptive and made you feel like you were truly in the story …. In the story! A two for one book with a positive outcome. Though I read to my preschooler, I’d say this would be a perfect book for ages 6-8. It was a lovely story and I’m excited to see where her next adventures take her and us!

This was such a delightful chapter book to read with both of my kiddos! I read it through once, and then we read it altogether. It felt like we were going on the adventure with Kris which was an absolute blast! My kids are 8 and 12 years old so they’re close to the target audience range. My 8-year-old has a bit of trouble getting through some chapter books as he loses interest quickly, but he stuck with this one and said the pictures were fun. We go on an adventurous journey through the high seas that have none other than dangerous pirates! Even though I am much older than who the author is aiming for, I truly enjoyed journeying with Kris. I highly recommend having this in your classroom or at home for the young ones in your life!

Kris & The Pirates (The Adventures of Kris) by Art Blegen. This is such a good kids read. Its the story of Kris who is not looking forward to going to a costume party with her dad. Trying not to think about it she decide to read her book. Her book is a lot more fun than some costume party, its full of pirates, secret treasures and fun animals that talk. While she is reading her book the story also talks about not wasting time and spending time with family along with learning about boats and the names of certain spots on the boat. This book is for older kids maybe around 11-14 and is so fun and full of adventure. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone! Great book for the pre teen, early teen in your life!

This story is a cute adventure and an easy read for young kids. I read this with my 7yo son who enjoyed it. It was fast paced and kept him entertaining the whole time. Meeting all of the different animals had to be my sons favorite parts, especially the turtle laying eggs. I love how it is a story about a child getting lost in a book.

Wonderful book! I was so entranced in the story that I thought Kris was really a part of the ship’s crew. Kris meets Stevie the Sloth, Tammy the Turtle, Sammy the Snake and Michael the Monkey along her way through the jungle, trying to hide from the pirates while also figuring out a way to save her crew. It was fun to watch her problem solve and plan for the rescue and she was pretty cleaver in getting them free. I enjoyed reading the descriptions of the pirates she came in contact with as well as her never give up attitude. I look forward to more adventures with Kris.

Kris and the Pirates is book two in The Adventures of Kris series. It is a children’s chapter book geared towards children between the ages of ten to fourteen years of age. The book follows the adventures of a young girl named Kris as she becomes immersed into the stories she reads and shares the adventures alongside the characters in the book. Kris is not eager to attend a costume party with her family because she feels that dressing up in costumes is only acceptable at Halloween, not in March. To take her mind off the party she is reluctant to attend she decides to escape into the world of her book. The story takes her on an exciting adventure where she gets to sail the seas, go swimming, meet pirates, go on an island, and make friends with talking animals. Kris learns about friendship, overcoming fear, sailing, being brave, and how to overcome challenges. A fun and entertaining read.

Kris & The Pirates is part of The Adventures of Kris series and what a delightful and fun read. This is a chapter book for ages 6-10 that is full of fun, adventure, sailors, pirates and animals. This story can be enjoyed even for the young at heart. I am already looking forward to more Adventures with Kris.
Kris is not loving the idea of having to go to a costume party….especially when it is in the month of March!! As her dad asks if she would like to dress up as a pirate..Kris only wants to be a knight. As she opens up her book to read and relax she is pulled into a story of sailing the high seas as a sailor. When Kris and her friend James spot land they want to explore and go swimming. When things do not go as planned and pirates take capture of all of Kris’ sailor friends…she embarks on a journey of adventure trying to help free the sailors…meeting new animal friends and helps Kris think how they can help…. will Kris be able to free all her sailor friends from the pirates?

Kris is supposed to go to a costume party later on in the day. She doesn’t want to go therefore she didn’t get a costume ready. She decided to just wear her Halloween costume that is now too small. Her father suggests going as a pirate since that appears to be a quick and easy costume but Kris insists that she hates pirates.
Kris settles into a book where she fully immerses herself into it and finds herself sailing the seas with some sailors. They find an island close by to go swimming. Little did they know that this island was full of pirates ready to capture the crew and steal their ship.
Kris is the only one who got away so it is up to her to rescue her fellow crew mates. Kris has to face her fear of pirates if she wants to return home. She meets some animal friends along the way to help her.
This book was very vividly written. The author went into such beautiful detail about the surrounding areas that it was easy to see myself there with Kris. I also really liked how the author gave the animals personalities close to their actual animal traits, throwing in some information about animals along this adventure.

Chris and the Pirates is the second book in The Adventures of Kris series by Art Blegen. Kris’s love of reading and vivid imagination means that she gets lost in her books and the stories they contain, getting pulled into all the adventures and experiencing everything alongside the ‘characters’. This time she is set for a bit of a pirate adventure, with islands, treasure, action, friendships, overcoming challenges, dealing with fear, being brave, a rescue mission, agendas, and dramatic developments. This is a intriguing children’s chapter book, that is aimed at children aged 10- 14 years. It was quite a fun read, but also has some lessons/facts to learn along the way. With sailing ships and sailors, to pirates, games, new friendships, songs, talking animals (Sammy the snake, Tammy the turtle, Jack the macaw, Michael the monkey king, and Stevie the sloth), beaches, jungle, swimming, dolphins, vivid world-building, and plenty of imagination, as well as a few small illustrations to head up each chapter, made this a very engaging story. Even though it is the second book in the series, it could be read as a standalone without feeling like you are missing anything, as from what I can gather, each book is a ‘self-contained’ adventure starring Kris. But, having said that I am curious to see what she gets up to in the other books, so I will be going back and reading the first book before continuing on with the series. The series consists of (so far): -Kris & The Missing Prince (Book #1) -Kris & The Pirates (Book #2) -Kris and The Cowboys (releasing soon)
