I loved this book. It has everything in it. There is tragedy, heartbreak, drama, conflict, forgiveness and of course romance. Laramee is determined and head strong. She wants nothing more than to save the family ranch. Jamie just wants to get away and appraising the Stone Ranch is the perfect excuse. I love the dynamic between Laramee and Jamie, but I also love the dynamic that plays out within the families.

How do I resist falling in love with a story when I’m already invested at the dedication!? Thank you for allowing me to be part “ baker’s dozen grandchildren “ ❣️📚😉

Laramee and her battered Ford arrive at Alpine Peak Ski Resort but she’s a rodeo girl not a ski bunny anyhoo she’s there to pick up biscuits from their bakery for her mum but shes parked her “monstrosity “ in the wrong place so when the bellman gets difficult and “ Bear Claw Man” from the bakery comes to her aid now instead of being the damsel she gets a little prickly and I get it but girl have you taken a look at this guy !? 😍 ( I’m such a weakling 🤣)

Well Bear Claw Man doesn’t walk away unscathed he comes face to face with his ex Victoria and she had the cheek to invite his family to her wedding, well let me be the one to tell you that you dodged the bullet with Victoria , there’s much better things in store for you !

Ok so Bear Claw Man has a name …. Jamie and his family is in to property and his new project is an old dude ranch and it belongs to Laramie’s family and she’s desperate to save it from development but at the same time her folks have different ideas and it would seem poor Jamie is stuck in the middle ….

What unfolds is beautiful and heartbreaking at times , Jamie might be a business man but he’s got a BIG heart he’s sensitive to Lardner and he often hears what she’s not saying and he handles her well even when an old flame makes a reappearance. He’s really a keeper 🥰and really the better man for the better woman ❣️

I laughed , I cried , I felt the guilt at the loss of Tyler and I felt the love of family and community 🥰 this is definitely one of those I’ll be reading again and I must add that I see turquoise with a different eye 😉

The Better Man is book two in the Silver Buckle Brides Romance series. I was worried about starting in the middle of a series but quickly found that these books can be read as standalone novels. This was a sweet, feel good, squeaky clean romance that very closely resembled real life, and real life struggles, woven through with fun banter, and good humor despite those aforementioned struggles. These characters became friends, and with this authors writing the characters come to life throughout this novel. I loved seeing how much progress the characters made, how the characters grew, and came into their own. Laramee and Jamie definitely ran away with my heart. A wonderful novel about overcoming fears, obstacles, and redemption.

Great story. Pretty cool the way the main characters come together to find a way to make things work even though they are on different sides of the situation in the beginning. They are definitely feeling something for one another but are they willing to cross that line? They both have walls up and are having a hard time facing the reality of their feelings for one another. I really enjoyed watching their growth in friendship and eventually more.

This is the second book in this series and while you can 100% read it as a standalone this is a series that will bring up characters from previous books so it may add to the experience if you read book 1 first (but you don’t have to). Jamie and Laramee are two people who are dealing with past issues and have to interact with each other. There is humor and wonderful character development. Their romance is gentle despite the head butting and is very sweet to read. This was a lovely book.

I’ve enjoyed a few books by this author, but this one ties for my favorite! It’s a slight change from their historical romances yet somehow, they still wove an incredible and inspirational romance tale. I didn’t realize this was the second book in the series, but I believe it can be read as a standalone because I wasn’t lost at any point. I will be circling back to pick up the previous one anyways just because this one was sensational! The characters are relatable, and the flow of the story unfolded naturally. Laramee’s situation pulled at my heart so much, but Jamie also held a special place for me. This was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster that was pulling me in page by page. I love Colorado and the author brought the area to life in my mind. If you are looking for an intriguing romance to cuddle up with on your weekend, this should absolutely be your next read!

A heartwarming romance which kept me happily turning the pages. Laramee Stone returns to her family’s Colorado ranch after leaving five years ago following a family tragedy. Meanwhile, Jamie Cannon, after making some youthful mistakes is now a successful partner in his family’s real estate business. Jamie arrives at the Stone’s remote ranch to carry out an appraisal as Laramee’s ailing parents are considering selling the place. Whilst Jamie is dedicated to fulfilling his assignment, Laramee is just keen to get him to leave her family’s ranch. However, with her family’s financial future at stake the couple reluctantly agree to work together. They soon discover that they have both had tragedies happen in their pasts, but just as their relationship develops Laramee’s ex-fiancé returns. Sutton makes it very clear that he wants to get back together with Laramee and having discovered Jamie’s past makes it clear that he thinks he is the better man for her. Jamie must then decide if he can make Laramee happy despite his past baggage and if so needs to tell her how he feels. Both Laramee and Jamie are likeable and relatable characters who’s chemistry came across in the narrative. The Colorado ranch setting was brought to life through the descriptive narrative helping me feel immersed in the storyline. An enjoyable and engaging romance which I recommend reading.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Silver Buckle Brides series. This is a beautifully written, heartwarming second chance romance that really pulls on your heart strings. This author does an incredible job of writing moving stories with characters that you cant help but fall in love with.
In this story we are with Jamie and Laramee .
Both of our characters have flaws and pasts they aren’t proud of.
Laramee returns back to her family’s ranch after time away. She has avoided returning home after she left escaping a tragedy that hit her family. Now she has to return to take over her families ranch as they get older and their health gets worse.
Jamie is a real estate partner who has been sent out to value her parents ranch. When they meet Laramee is frosty towards him to say the least.
However the more time they spend together the more Laramee starts warming up to him. Could this be the start of a romance?
Well not without some drama first. And that drama comes in the shape of Laramee’s ex Sutton.
Sutton returns wanting Laramee back and Jamie out of the picture and after finding out the secrets of Jamie’s past he plans to use that against him.
Now Jamie has a decision to make. Should he tell Laramee about his past and confess his feelings for her? Is he really the better man for Laramee or will his past stop him from having a future with her?

I liked this, I love a good romance and this didn’t disappoint! It follows Laramee and Jamie as they are thrown together. Laramee’s parents are thinking of selling the family home and Jamie has been tasked with assessing its potential value and seeing what work needs to be done to get it ready to sell. Both have baggage they are still holding onto but as they work together on the property they are drawn together. This is a lovely story, beautifully written in gorgeous surroundings. I love a good romance and this was right up my street, thoroughly enjoyed it!

The Better Man (Silver Buckle Brides, #2)The Better Man by Laurie L.C. Lewis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This author never fails at heart breaking, heart mending and heart warming stories. And boy oh boy does this story have all the feels. It is sweet, funny, satisfying with a touch of heavenly influence.

This story is about forgiveness, hope, love, 2nd chances and family.

“No matter who you choose to pursue, don’t sit back and hope love finds a way. Sometimes, we must open a way for love to work.”

So many relationships dynamics, friends, father-daughter, mother-daughter, father-son, brothers, brother-sister. Communication, understanding, forgiveness and love is needed for all of these relationships to work.

Discovering things about yourself helps create a better person. Sharing those things isn’t always in the best interest of others. Jamie and Laramee discover how to love and believe in not only each other but themselves as well.

The title of this book leads us to believe there are others in this series so I am looking forward to discovering those and reading more from this author.

The Better Man (Silver Buckle Brides, #2)The Better Man by Laurie L.C. Lewis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Better Man by Laurie Lewis introduces us to a family, a realtor, and an ex who is trying to find his way back into the picture. I really wasn’t too sure what to expect when I picked up a copy of this book to read, but I will say I wasn’t disappointed at all! Laurie took two characters who had some big time, real struggles in and with their past lives, some crazy family dynamics, a ranch, and so much more!
Apparently, this is the second book in the series, (I am notorious for not ever reading the first book!) and I really felt like this could be read as a stand-alone. But I will say that I’m going back and am going to read the first book since some of the not main characters (lol) are mentioned in this book.
Laramee, finds herself going back to Colorado after receiving a disturbing phone call from her mother about her father’s health and the issues that her parents have had come up. Jamie is a realtor who is just trying to do is job and appraise the house and ranch properly and quite honestly has no idea what is in store for him! Laramee and Jamie have a rocky, funny and honestly, not very cute start to their “relationship”. It seems that each time they run into each other, it’s more humorous than the first time! At first, Laramee seems like the uptight, snotty, wound-up kind of character, but once you learn about what she is facing, you definitely warm up to her!
Now as for Jamie….he seems to be such a sweetheart, he’s patient, kind and has an all-around good guy demeanor to him. He gets where Laramee is coming from with her family issues, he has been there and knows all about what she is currently facing. I really enjoyed reading about how they had a rocky start and it slowly started to build into a friendship and more.
There is a sweet romantic dynamic between our two main characters that continues to build throughout the story. But one thing that really got me was how the author put themes of healing, learning and friendships into the storyline. She made me feel like we don’t have to be alone and struggle, there’s always that someone who can help you heal.
And just so you don’t think it’s all about sadness and struggles, there is plenty of humor and fun throughout the story to keeping it well balanced. But don’t take it from me…. pick up a copy for yourself and get lost in the story about Laramee and Jamie!

This is the first book that I have read by this author and it certainly will not be the last one. Once I started reading I just could not put it down.

Laramee got call from her parents about selling their farm. They wanted to give her and her brother a chance to take over the ranch if that’s what they chose to do.

As she is driving she runs into Jamie, who is the real estate broker that they have hired to access the property for them.

I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read another book by her.

The Better Man (Silver Buckle Brides, #2)The Better Man by Laurie L.C. Lewis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Better Man was a wonderfully challenging story. The author lost me a few times early on but as I got further into it, it emerged and flowed well. It became a story that encouraged the reader to root for the two main characters. Both of which have had their own personal struggles yet persevered.
Laramee is a passionate force who is coming home after running away for reasons we all understand. The loss of someone close, a relationship born out of that which felt more obligation vs true love. Now she’s fighting to keep her family ranch. And between the animosity with her father and Jamie coming to give her father options she feels a sense of betrayal.
Jamie was tasked to get the spects on this ranch. One going into it will be a good thing for his family. He found out quickly that won’t be the case. He wants to help this family out, but despite her aggression he’s pulled to Laramee and her happiness more.
What will happen between them?
What about her past relationship?
Again you will be rooting for these two characters. They’ve been through so much you want them to be happy. As if they were your own family or friends.
It’s worth the read but started off slow to me. Trust me when I say push through because you will enjoy it.

Laramee heads for the home she ran away from years ago when she finds out her parents are both not doing very well and are considering selling their ranch. Laramee doesn’t want to give up the ranch because it holds so many memories for her, but some of those memories are also not good. She ran from the ranch due to a tragedy in the family and holds onto a lot of guilt from things, and also has a strained relationship with her father. When she arrives back home she finds Jamie who has been hired by her father to sort out how much the property is worth. At first she wants him gone but when she gets to know him they become friends and gain an understanding of each other’s pasts. To add to her stress, her ex fiance finds out she’s back home and is trying to get her back. Jamie helps to fix up the land but ultimately determines there’s only one way to save it, and it’s the one thing Laramee didn’t want to give up. Laramee must decide if she wants to keep holding onto the ranch or let it go, while also battling her growing feelings for Jamie. This was a good clean western romance.

This was a good read. It was a quick read. It also packs a big impact. The main characters meet in the most crazy way but it made me giggle. They both have serious trauma that they are both working through. It really makes them relatable. The story line in the book keeps good progression throughout. Meaning there isn’t a lull or a spot where you really just want to put it down. I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it. I do feel that if I had read the first book before this one, I might have some better understanding of the characters. However, it wasn’t a necessity to read it first and enjoy this book. This book has a super sweet slow build romance and there is also loss that the characters have to deal with in order to have anything move forward. It didn’t have the ending that I was expecting when I started reading the book. However, the ending is a much needed one. I love a book that can keep me turning pages and surprised me with the story line. The author paints an incredible picture of the setting of the book, that you can see it in your head. It was a much needed read that I didn’t know I needed to read.

Laramee’s life was torn apart, so she ran, until she was forced to come back home to decide her family’s ranch fate. Jamie has spent most of his life trying to redeem himself from past mistakes. Their lives collide and are changed forever. This book is a beautiful rocky romance and shows the courage these two must face their past issues head on in the company of someone they barely know. When neither of them can admit their short time was as impactful as it was, it breaks the readers’ heart to see them part ways. The chapters are engaging and evolve the story quickly.

After 5 years Laramee Stone returns home because her parents are looking into selling the Ranch. Laramee ran into Jamie Cannon along the way, he is the realtor that was asked to come check out the homestead. Laramee does not want to sell but she is not sure what it really is that she wants to do with it. Both have a past that has a sad tale and both need to learn to trust. After making a bet that Jamie couldn’t last a week as a hand and both working together to make necessary repairs to the land it seems they both are developing feelings. There seems to be a few things in the mix that’s holding them back. Sutton, an ex-fiancé of Laramee and the area sheriff is still in love with her and wants to rekindle what was lost, then there is the fact of both Laramee and Jamie’s tragic past, along with the sale of the ranch.
Loved the book and gave it 5 stars as Laurie L.C Lewis told a charming story of two people who have family that loves them and needing to heal and be loved. This is book 2 of the Silver Buckle and I am looking forward to reading the 1st one soon.

I can most definitely relate to Laramee’s ailing family situation. I could also relate to Jamie in getting others to believe in you after they gave up on you. From the summary, you’d think they belong to and with one another, right? Not when Sutton comes out of nowhere to get Jamie back after Laramee and he had become emotionally tied.. But it’s all in Jamie’s hands and what his heart desires.
Honestly, yes: I was and am pushimg for Laramee to win this one but then again, you never know what the author cooked up and I won’t spoil it for you. I loved this book as it was romantic, for me an escape from reality (at least for a few days) but it was steamy in a sensual way outside of sexual, easy to read with wonderful characters to match leaving me fully entertained.

The Better Man (Silver Buckle Brides, #2)The Better Man by Laurie L.C. Lewis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Laramee is on her way back home after a frantic call from her mother, after leaving the ranch four years ago she is nervous about coming back and confronting her father, but she was not accepting the news when she arrived back. Lost in her world she strives to not let the only things she can slip from her fingers the ranch. When arriving she meets Jamie who’s business is real estate after being prickly initially they discover they have more in common than first thought.

Jamie is on his way to look at a ranch but first he was having some R and R in The Alpine a Ski resort but when he wonders into the reception area and sees his ex- fiancée getting ready to marry someone else all the air leaves his body, he rushes into the bakery onsite to get refreshments when he meets a lady and strikes up a conversation, unbeknown to him they will meet later and a lot less friendlier.

So when Jamie meets Laramee again at the Ranch things go decidedly a rye, Laramee wants him gone but he was instructed by her father so he is obliged to carry on with the job in hand but over the time of working together they see that they are so different after all.

This is a lovely story of family entanglements and expectations which are put on ourselves or others. The story weaves along and slow draws out the reasons that both of them have baggage and that they can just be friends rather than enemies in the long run that Jamie is only trying to help and somewhere along the way they become more.

With the secondary characters enhancing the story it is a lovely nice easy read, with characters who compliment each other and a clean story. I would love the read the next instalment in this series.

The Better Man is Book 2 in the Silver Buckle Brides series and what an amazing read. While this book could be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading the first book in the series as some characters do tie into this book as well. The emotions and turmoil of two people whom really come from a past with hard struggle..this story really took me on a roller coaster of emotion. Drama, secrets, jealousy and grief but also a second chance in many ways to be better. I LOVED this story of Laramee and Jamie.

Laramee has come home to Colorado to her family ranch as her father and mother decided to sell due to some health issues her father is having. Laramee has so much hurt and grief coming back as there is it reminds her of a past tragedy that is truly heartbreaking. Jamie is hired to help the Stone family sell the beloved ranch and make things better, but Jamie never expected to challenged at first by a fiery Laramee. As Jamie and Laramee work together on repairs to the ranch to make it better for selling, their walls come down around their hearts very slowly…..but there is also a past love that comes about the ranch…Sutton…whom has love Laramee forever. With pasts that have heavy baggage, decisions that need to be made, will Laramee be able to overcome grief as it burdens her shoulders and find the love that she deserves…who does she choose? When secrets come to light with honestly….Jamie falls for Laramee…but is he the better man for her?

Definitely read and find out..I highly recommend this book!

The Better Man (Silver Buckle Brides, #2)The Better Man by Laurie L.C. Lewis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Better Man by Laurie L.C. Lewis was such a sweet country romance story. This story takes place on a ranch in Colorado, where our main character’s parents have decided it’s time to sell and retire. When their daughter, Laramee finds out about this, she rushes home to confront her estranged father and her mother, to question their decision and try to talk them out of selling. Unbeknownst to Laramee, Jaime has already been hired to assess the land and the property to help get the best-selling price for their ranch. The two start out on rocky ground seeing as they both have different thoughts in mind, but overall, they decide what’s best for the Stone family is to find out what the best price is that they can get for the ranch while making necessary upgrades to the property together. While they were looking around the property, Laramee showed Jaime a place that she holds near and dear to her heart that will change everything for the Stone family. On top of dealing with all of this business of assessing the ranch, both Jaime and Laramee have to work through the issues that they each have with their own families. As the two work through their issues, they also have to deal with Sutton, Laramee’s ex-fiancé who is jealous and overbearing.

I love that this story has such a soft approach to the building of the romance between the characters. The beauty of the setting in this story is so peaceful and serene, that it brings to mind what it would be like to live in a small country community away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The descriptions of the Colorado ranch are such that you can picture what it was like at its peak and then see where it stands now after the family tragedy happened, it is all sad and forlorn looking. The characters are so solidly built that they are like characters out of an old Western movie, with the strong leading ladies, the chivalrous males, and the contention between the families due to misunderstandings. What an amazing all-around storyline this book had, I cannot wait to go back and find the first book in the series and see who that tale was about. I hope to see that more books are being written in this series, it was such a great read, with just the right amount of turmoil and romance.

This was a sweet romance with some tragedy thrown in. Laramee is home for the first time in several years after an incredibly tragic event happen in her life. She ran to get as far as possible from the pain.

Jamie is a good guy through and through. You see it at the very beginning and the more you get to know him the more you learn and realize this is how he really is.

The little things made this story quite enjoyable and kept me engaged the entire time. Hope to read the rest of this series once released.

The Better Man is another case of don’t judge a book by it’s cover. I debated for a while on whether I wanted to read this book. The description sounded good, but the cover reminds me of western romance books- which I am not a fan of. Overall, I really liked the book. There is a chapter in the second half that got a little too “God-ly” for me, but I enjoyed it. It is a little unclear if its book 1 or 2, because A has it listed as both…. but either way, I would read the other in the series. The story focuses on Laramee and Jamie as they work on Laramee’s family ranch for a week. Her parents are debating selling or keeping it, and have hired Jamie’s firm to do the evaluation and estimate. The story has some ups and downs, and both main characters have some high emotion pasts. We slowly learn more about them, as they are getting to know each other. I love their characters and enjoyed the ended (even though I saw it coming from a mile away).

This is the second book of the series. It can be read as a stand alone. I absolutely loved this book. I did not want to put it down. Jamie and Laramee are so cute together! There is a little bit of a rough start to their relationship, but we are fairly quickly rewarded with a friendship that slowly builds.

The Better Man (A Silver Buckle Romance Series) by Laurie Lewis

A Better Man is the second book in the A Silver Buckle Romance Series and is a wonderfully written Inspirational Romance that once you start reading there’s no putting it down until you’ve finished. I loved everything about this book from the amazing characters that make the story come to life to the Author’s attention to detail. This author never ceases to amaze me with her creative characters and epic writing skills. This second chance romance just about broke me . Man did they pull at my heart strings. My emotions were all over the place with this story. Laramee left home years ago but finds herself going back home because her parents are about to lose it. What will happen when the past and present collide? What will Laramee do when two men want her? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next I can’t wait to read more from this Author.
