Laramee has returned to her parent’s ranch after she finds they are planning to sell it. She meets up with the man whom they have hired to help them. Laramee and Jamie begin to develop a relationship, but Laramee has baggage from the past that made her flee the ranch in the first place. Can Laramee overcome this tragedy and find love? A good story of loss and love.

The Better Man is the superb second book in the Silver Buckle Brides series by Laurie Lewis. After reading most of Ms. Lewis’s books now, and having loved ‘Cross Country Christmas’, the first book in the series, there was no question as to whether I would want to read this book or not, instantly snapping up a copy as soon as I saw it had released…
I love all of Ms. Lewis’s books, and I love how she infuses so much heart and soul into her stories, leaving them brimming with emotion. Her characters are always so well developed and have so much depth to them, they really bring the story to life and deliver all the ‘feels’.
Looking forward to the next release from Ms. Lewis!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Laurie L.C. Lewis!

Wow. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect this story was going to be like, but it turned out to be one of the best romance stories I’ve read. The emotional turmoil the characters faced was spot on. You could feel the hurt from the past. You could also feel the joy. There were lots of life lessons imbedded as well. This is a great read for romance lovers but also for anyone grieving over a loss in any form. For those who have hit rock bottom and climbed back up. For those who have fought their demons and won. For those who struggle to find their worth. For those who simply want to be seen. There is something in here for everyone. Including forgiveness and Gods love.

I have read a lot of Laurie’s books and really enjoy them. She doesn’t just write one genre which I really like because you never know what you are going to get.
The Better Man is the second wonderful book in the Silver Buckle Brides series. Cross-Country Christmas drew me in and so did this one. It is a heart-warming romance that is full of lots of different emotions. Two souls who have had tragic pasts that have shaped them to who they are now.
This story has a little bit of everything with Cowboys, an ex who will do anything to get what he wants and a ranch. There is also tragedy and pain, angst and hurt, hope and forgiveness, family and friendship, treachery and love, healing and spirituality.
Jamie is trying hard to leave his past behind, but old doubts rise when an ex turns up. Laramee has her issues but returns home to save what is hers but when her ex turns up, he threatens it all. She literally crashed into his life, now it is not just a truce they have found they have found so much more.

This book offers a heartfelt journey through redemption and personal growth. With deeply drawn characters and a story that navigates the complexities of human emotions, it’s a compelling read. Although it occasionally suffers from slow pacing, the narrative remains engaging, culminating in a satisfying exploration of forgiveness. A beautifully told story that merits a 4.5-star rating for its insightful and moving portrayal of its characters’ paths to betterment.

The Better Man (Silver Buckle Brides, #2)The Better Man by Laurie L.C. Lewis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a very emotional, heart strings pulling, kind of read. Laramee was running from her past, from all those who loved her, all because communication was broken between them. Jamie was also running, but in a different direction. When their paths crossed during a business deal, Laramee and Jamie have to make some very difficult decisions regarding their future paths.

I love this book and am so glad that I picked it up! It was difficult to read in parts but overall, the story put a smile on my face and lifted my spirits. I was not aware that this was part of a series and never felt like I was missing any ties to possible previous characters or situations. I do want to go back and read the first book in this series though! I highly recommend this read!

This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. I have enjoyed reading her books from the first one I picked up by her. I enjoy her writing style as well as her attention to details that make her character come to life. They are written with a lot of heart which makes them great characters. This is a well written story about second chances. Laramee fled her home years ago but now that her parents could lose that home, she is going home. What happens from here you don’t want to miss for sure. The past comes to the present for these characters. Two men want Laramee but which one is the better man? I enjoyed watching the growth of these characters and the chemistry is strong. I enjoyed what they brought to the story which made the story easy to read. This is a fast paced, hard to put down story that is a must read. I highly recommend this book.

As the second book in the series, this story is a great follow in from the first. It is a story that is so easy to get into and I found myself invested in it straight away. I really enjoyed the characters of this book. From the moment they met I felt their connection and it was such a relatable one. I wanted then to find their way with each other.
This author is one I pick up every now and again and, when I do, I am always reminded as to why I should read more of their work. This book is well written and interesting. I enjoyed how the story unfolded and getting the know the characters. This is a great book that I really enjoyed.

I had to feel for Laramee. I loved this story. She and Jamie have a romance that has chemistry (bearclawman). You’ll have to read it to find out what that reference is for. I loved the chemistry, the romance and the whole story. Jamie gets blindsided and his family cares but needs to listen. It was an amazing story to read. This author leaves you feeling every emotion in the story. I love her writing. I am looking forward to reading more in this series. You must read this one.
