My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second novel in The Cecily Taylor Series and I personally recommend that you read the first book before diving into this one. This one deals with where Cecily is after making her big decision that was the center of the first book. I won’t give much details outside of what you already find in the synopsis because that would spoil the whole novel in my opinion. This is one you will find yourself feeling a tad nostalgic if you are more my age, for your high school years. I personally loved high school so this was right up my alley and felt relatable in some ways. I like how this may not be the easiest storyline to find believable outside of dreams but the way the characters grow and develop with what is happening and the coming of age is very true to the realities that teenagers face on the daily. I will be sharing this series with my daughter in the near future before she dives into high school herself. I think this is another good quality for a book to have. The ability to span across ages and touch each reader. Ms. Hager does a wonderful job of this. I very much look forward to seeing what will come in the third book.

In Over Her Head: Lights, Camera, Anxiety is book two in the Cecily Taylor series by Krysten Lindsay Hager. This series is a fabulous one for the young lover of romance. They are sweet with just enough angst and drama to keep you avidly glued to the pages, without being too descriptive or suggestive. Cecily seems to have it all. A career that was about to take off, a boyfriend that was both sweet and attentive, and a life that was envied and respected. But there would not be a story if there wasn’t dramatics, emotions and something to test the characters. It is what keeps me going back for more and turning each page. This story is one to be enjoyed by all ages, but it will definitely appeal to the young. And the young at heart. 4 stars.

In Over Her Head: Lights, Camera, Anxiety by Krysten Lindsay Hager is the second book in The Cecily Taylor series. The story picks up from the first book as we read that Cecily and Andrew are continuing to talk and date. The two of them are figuring out what a long distance relationship entail as Andrew goes off to work on writing and recording some songs. Add into this stress and anxiety, Cecily’s best friend Lila pulls away when Cecily voices her opinion on Lila taking back her ex boyfriend. This is something I know many teens experience where a friend seems to push others away to be with someone. It is a learning experience for all involved. I really enjoyed reading this second book. I would recommend this series to any young woman.

Cecily feels like she has it all: great best friends, the beginnings of a career as a model/actress, and she’s dating her favorite singer, Andrew Holiday. Just when it seems like all her dreams are coming true, everything comes crashing down when a photo of Andrew with another girl appears online. Cecily is no different to any teen except being in the spotlight of course, but she still has the teenage angst, anxieties, friendship issues, drama which makes her a relatable character. Krysten Lindsay Hager captures the teenage experience really well in this series. All the emotions you experience as a teenager, then heightened by the idea of secretly dating your celebrity crush.

In Over Her Head: Lights, Camera, Anxiety by Krysten Lindsay Hager is the second book in the Cecily Taylor series. This is a well written YA book that is perfect for the younger fans of romance. I really enjoyed how this book looked at things from the perspective of what happens after the HEA. It’s not often that you get to see that from characters in depth and it was great to be able to revisit these ones.
I thought the story was well written and had a great flow about it. I enjoyed getting to know these characters even more and felt like I was part of Cecily’s journey. This is and overall enjoyable book and definitely worth your time.

In Over Her Head: Lights, Camera, Anxiety is the second book in The Cecily Taylor series by Krysten Lindsay Hager.
This is a little more angsty than the first book, with anxiety, misunderstandings, and jealousy, the order of the day. It is a YA romance story- with teenage drama, friendship, angst, jealousy, and first love.
Again, as with the first book, this is definitely suited to a younger audience, that’s not to say that I don’t enjoy YA stories, because I do- but I found this one a little too teenage drama-ish for me to fully connect with or appreciate as much as I would have liked to.
Still, I am glad I read it and will check out Book #3 to see what happens next.

Thank you, Krysten Lindsay Hager!

Guys, what a way to end a series. I do hope Krysten decides to maybe write some more in the future so we see where Cecily and Andrew are, if Cecily’s modeling career takes off or even maybe where her grandmother is. But I have to say this book was absolutely amazing. I love Krysten’s writing and the way Cecily is living every girls dream. If you are looking for a dream come true book this is the book and the series to read, it was amazing.

Is a nice funny, sweet romance. We catch up with Celicy and see how she’s coping Cecily is no different to any teen except being in the spotlight of course, but she still has the teenage angst, anxieties, friendship issues, drama which makes her a relatable character. The disparity between the real world and the celebrity world leaves Cecily with low self-esteem and makes her doubt her relationships. It explores first love, celebrity, conflicted friendships, misunderstandings, secrets and the negativity of social media. Well written, this story is easy reading, for any age group, but has the most appeal for its intended audience.

Cecily and Andrew have the cards stacked against them. Long distance, rock star and small town girl, rumors, videos, and those horrid people in the www who like to talk bad about others.
Can their relationship as young and new and fresh as it is withstand all the gossip and distance?
Only time will tell.
In this story we also meet Cecily’s grandma and she is a true joy to read about. LOVE that she gets her own chances.

Can Dreams Come True? (The Cecily Taylor Series Book 1) by Krysten Lindsay Hager

I enjoyed this book, but feel so old right now.  It got me thinking back to when I was the same age as Cecily.  What girl didn’t dream of meeting her famous crush?  I remember my best friend and I talking about us meeting the flavor of the month at a concert and going from there.

The difference here is Cecily actually got to meet her famous crush and it couldn’t have gone any better.   Andrew seems to be a really good guy, not pushing her into more than friendship.  But they are so very different even though they are just a year apart and his “friends” are so not what Cecily is used to or need.

I’m very interested to see how this plays out.  I’m not convinced he is the right one but I guess we will see.

I enjoyed this book. It is the second book in this series which is just as great as the first one. I highly suggest that you read the first book as well. This is a well developed story where the author’s attention to details made me feel part of the story. This is an engaging story that has relatable characters. Cecily feels that she has it all, a great job, a best friend and a boyfriend. What will happen when her best friend starts ditching her? She has never had a relationship like the one she has with Andrew, until now. What will happen to her when her world comes crashing down with one photograph? I enjoyed watching her growth and felt bad for her when life challenges start changing her life. This is a great story that I highly recommend. I am glad I picked up this book and so will you. Find out what happens to Cecily and Andrew. Is their relationship all that she thought it was?

Can Dreams Come True? (The Cecily Taylor Series #1) by Krysten Lindsay Hager

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Hager makes me want to come back and read more. The Cecily Taylor Series is an amazing way to start a series.

Cecily is the shy girl next door type. She wants to be an actress, but isn’t trained. Getting the chance to star in a music video with her popstar crush is amazing. The quote I chose for Cecily is: “Musicians have a way of doing that. I’d probably forget my own name if I met Andrew Holiday. I just hope she stops making passive aggressive comments.”

Andrew is a famous musician. When he auditions in a small town he gets something he’s been looking for. Enter Cecily and he finds what he’s looking for in a girl. The quote I chose for Andrew is: “Maybe that’s why it worked so well. You weren’t trying too hard. I dunno. It just worked for some reason, you know? Like you were meant to be in it.”

Highly recommended for YA Contemporary Romance lovers.

Cecily has loved musician Andrew Holiday FOREVER. Have you ever had a song speak to you? The artist just seemed to understand how you felt? Andrew just seems to “get” her. Cecily auditions to be in his next music video and she catches Andrew’s eye. Her current boyfriend certainly thinks something is up. Is there a chance her dreams of Andrew could become reality? A beautiful story of what could happen if you just believe.

Can Dreams Come True? (The Cecily Taylor Series Book 1)Can Dreams Come True? by Krysten Lindsay Hager
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cecily Taylor is your typical seventeen year old girl, she has a close group of friends and a cute boyfriend who she loves, she also has a crush on the popstar Andrew Holiday and has for years, but it isn’t all sunshine and she has had people close to her leave and then not talk to her again, so she has some insecurities around it and a bit of a lack of self esteem, but which teenagers don’t have something like that?

Her boyfriend is in love with her, but he isn’t very romantic, but her best friend helps him out when needed and although it is sweet, Cecily would rather he thinks of these things himself on occasion, but he likes to spend time with her, be that on a coffee date at the library, or watching sports with her at home, even if she does fall asleep and misses the whole thing. However, when one of her friends gets an audition to be in the music video which is being filmed in their home town and Andrew Holiday is the one whose video it will be, Cecily is shocked when she asks her to go as moral support and her parents let her, as long as there is an adult chaperone there as well, but if not, then she would have asked to go to the open auditions with her friends anyway, it would be good practice if she wanted to pursue her career as an actress after all.

The next day, Cecily gets ready for school after she finds out that the private audition with her friend has been moved up, the video said they were looking for the “Girl next door” and that is how she looked normally, then she shows up at school and sees what her friend is wearing and she is not so sure what exactly that means anymore, but hopefully her anxiety wouldn’t get the better of her. As the day goes on all the school is talking about is the auditions, all too soon the day was over and they were heading to the playhouse where the audition was going to be held, her friends mum filled out the paperwork and then her name is called, but as she is going through the door, Andrew himself walks out asking about getting some coffee, walks straight past her and makes a beeline for Cecily, much to her amazement and asks he if she is auditioning too, when she replies in the negative, he asks her to reconsider and come in onto the set anyway. All of a sudden Cecily is being asked to be an extra by the director, saying that she has the “ethereal” look he is going for, he then hands her some forms to fill in and asks her and her friend to come back at 4am on Saturday for the shoot.

As she fills in her family, best friend and boyfriend about the turn of events, they are all surprised but really happy for her, however, her boyfriend starts to act weirdly, but blames it on his mum’s health and says nothing is wrong. The next day Cecily asks his what is going on when she eventually sees him, but he is talking to his ex and seems distracted, this continues the next couple of days, it turns out that he has been seeing more of his ex than normal, although the reason is because she has just broken up with her boyfriend and was upset, but Cecily can’t understand it and feels a little upset and betrayed herself, this feeling continues when the same thing happens and they end up arguing. As Saturday turns up and the filming day arrives, Cecily hasn’t slept well and has no idea what to expect, but Andrew puts her at ease and seems to be as nice as he projects, there is something there and their connection seems more than just superficial, but will Cecily follow her dreams of being with Andrew, or will she stick to her loving boyfriend and the small town familiarity he exudes? This is a sweet romance which will pull you along with Cecily as she figures out what her heart desires and makes the choices she needs to.

Can Dreams Come True? is the first book in the Cecily Taylor series by Krysten Lindsay Hager. Before reading this I had not read any of this author’s work but I was attracted by the blurb and decided to give the book a go. I’m glad that I did as I enjoyed this book.
Cecily is the typical girl nest door. She’s sweet, hardworking and loyal to her friends. She also adores her boyfriend Zach. She does however have a major crush on pop star Andrew Holiday. So when her friend gets an audition for Andrew’s next video, Cecily goes along to give her support. Only Cecily is exactly what the video makers are looking for.
I really loved reading about Cecily and Andrew. Both are great characters that I could easily identify with. I really enjoyed their interactions with one another, seeing their friendship develop as they both just ‘get’ each other.
I have to admit that I was not a fan of Cecily’s friend who she went to the audition with or Cecily’s boyfriend Zach. Andrew understood her better in the space of a few minutes than 2 of her best ‘friends’ ever would.
I really enjoyed this book. The main characters are great and the story flows along well, keeping you entertained. I’m looking forward to reading more and Cecily and Andrew’s story.

This is a teen contemporary romance with an angsty rock/alternative star theme. No sexual encounters. Totally safe for those under 18. Many teens would enjoy this story. Totally Mean Girls meets Hannah Montana but the Male lead is the rock star.
Cecily get chosen to be in a music video that is being shot by her favorite musician of all time. Can she do this without making a total fool of herself and without alienating her current boyfriend?
This book is good. It has a lot of angst and the characters seem to be what current kids are today. It will definitely be interesting to see where the 2nd book in the series goes.

Can Dreams Come True? (The Cecily Taylor Series Book 1) by Krysten Lindsay Hager . This is such a good romance. Its the story of Cecily Taylor who is in first real relationship and she thinks Zach may be the one. When she tries out for a part in a music video and gets it she is shocked and her friends are all jealous. Andrew Holiday is a huge star and starring in this video is amazing. The more time she spends with Andrew the more she likes him. Zach is extremely upset about the time she spends with him and becomes more irrational by the minute. He ends up acting like a fool pushing Cecily away. Andrew really likes Cecily and thinks she is so much more than those air headed models he’s been seeing. Will they have a future together? Krysten Lindsay Hager is a new author to me. Her writing style gripped me from the first page to the last page. This is a fast paced YA book. It kept me going because I needed to know what was coming up next. The characters were tuned into the story. They were complex and really enhanced the story. I could vision them in my mind’s eye because they were so realistic. Cecily is the lead female character and Andrew is the lead male character. Cecily was doing her friend a favor and accompanied her to a video audition. Cecily did not even want to be in the video but the director did. This put some ill feelings from her friend and with all the attention made her boyfriend become jealous. Andrew being the lead singer of the group has a crush on Cecily. How does Cecily feel about the video? Does Cecily and her boyfriend fall apart? Does Andrew come to help Cecily get through these trying times? Does the small town girl and the big time guy? I highly recommend this book to find out the answers to these questions and more.

I’m not sure how I would feel if I got the chance to meet a celebrity that I had been a diehard fan of, I don’t really have a celebrity icon that I like that much I don’t think. But Cecily does, and that amaze-balls icon for her is the singer Andrew Holiday. At first, I was a little annoyed, I know other people who have read this didn’t like Zach and his jealousy, and I will admit that he was a tad arsy, but I think I would be a little annoyed if the person I loved was spending a lot of time with a sexy celebrity who was clearly into them. I mean Andrew makes it known that he wants her, if not explicitly but implicitly, and I just thought that Zach got a bad deal. Doesn’t condone what he does, but still, I felt proper sorry for him at first.
Cecily was okay, I’m not sure how I felt about her as a protagonist if I’m honest, think this was geared more towards young adults, and as such, the character just didn’t really resonate with me. Still, it had the whole, normal girl being thrust into the sparkly world of stardom and receiving the attention of a hot celebrity who thinks that she is the best thing since sliced bread, vibe. I would have my phases when I was younger, of eating books like this up, and this is one of the better-written ones. Hager has a nice turn of phrase that made me want to keep reading, even if I wasn’t wholly invested in the story.
Young adults will love this and anyone else looking for a nice romance that has plenty of feels, and the rosiness of unbelievable dreams coming true.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book, I was pulled right in from the beginning. Cecily has her first boyfriend and she is asked to go with her friend to possibly meet her favorite singer during an audition. While there Andrew seems to take a liking to Cecily and she also gets a part in the video. She is super excited and shares the news with her boyfriend, who doesn’t seem very excited for her.
While doing the video she ends up having a nice conversation with Andrew and gets to see a different side to him.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. We continue to watch Cecily have issues with her boyfriend and his jealousy. And she starts a friendship with Andrew. Things take a twist and things get even more interesting. All of the characters were great although a couple of Cecily’s friends were so so for me and the boyfriend frustrated me on so many levels. Can Dreams Come True? (The Cecily Taylor Series Book 1) by Krysten Lindsay Hager is a sweet coming of age story and will definitely suit the YA readers. The story has all the usual angst and drama, insecurity and anxiety in that time in young adult lives where everything is felt so much more harshly and dramatically. The narrative is well written and the plot flows well that will keep a younger reader engaged.

Overall, Krysten has written a sweet romance that is cute and will be enjoyed by the teens who love a girl meets crush story line.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was intriguing from the very beginning. It was my first Krysten Lindsay Hager novel and I enjoyed it. It did not go as I expected but was definitely a fun read. This was a great teen read that is good for all audiences as it is somewhat your typical YA novel. Quick, easy read. Very enjoyable. I enjoyed how the characters were written, especially the relationship between Cecily and her parents. You don’t always see that positivity in YA novels. I would say that this is perfect for a quick, enjoyable summer read.
