The Girl and the Demon : YA Paranormal Romance (The Girl and the Raven #3) by Pauline Gruber

Not the first book I’ve read by Gruber. This is the third book in The Girl and the Raven Series. The Girl and The Demon is an amazing book.

Lucy is missing her father and she doesn’t want Marcus to leave. She isn’t sure where her dad went, but she isn’t going to stop looking for him. Now not only is Marcus leaving, but her uncles are finally getting married. The quote I chose for Lucy is: “That’s nice of you. I will keep you posted once I know when Jude will be home.”

Marcus doesn’t want to leave Lucy when he goes to meet the coven. He thinks that once everything is settled then he can go back to being normal. Then Lucifer comes along and now the one he loves is in danger. The quote I chose for Marcus is: “The council is taking a hard position with my mother. They believe she and Garret were equally responsible. They want somebody’s head. Since Garret’s dead, they are going after her.”

Highly recommended for YA Fantasy lovers.

The Girl and the Raven by Pauline Gruber is a fantastic four-star read. This is number one in The Girl and the Raven series, and I enjoyed this story, it shows great promise for the series. Lucy will pull you in, her dilemma and drama will keep you hooked and leave you wanting to know everything. Lucy is tough and keeps the story together and the setting is strong, I felt it could have done with a little more putting together, it jumped a couple of times, or maybe I drifted I don’t know. This had the bones of being great, and I am hoping the second will get better.

The girl and the Raven was a book that truly surprised me! I was enthralled from the beginning and it really made me think of the Harry Potter Series! Pauline Gruber did an amazing job with the plot and it flowed so beautifully! It wasn’t what I expected from a Young Adult categorized book but it truly was attention grabbing and interesting! I am interested to see what comes next for these characters and can’t recommend this book enough! Job well done!!

I LOVED this book!! I love a good YA/paranormal book and I was hooked. I really enjoyed the different kinds of paranormal used in this story of demons, witches and gargoyles. When Lucy’s mother passes away, she has to go live in Chicago with her uncles. Lucy learns then she is half witch and half demon and her life turned upside down and only the beginning. Add in some twists and turns that also include a love triangle between Lucy, Dylan and Marcus. I also love a strong female character and most definitely Lucy was!! I thought this book was fabulous.

The Girl and the Raven was an unexpected delight! I was hooked once I started reading and didn’t stop until I finished the whole thing!
Extremely fast paced, it wasn’t the typical cliché story line you often see in Young Adult books. You feel like you are right there in the story with Lucy, feeling what she feels along the way. I enjoyed the well written character development as the story unfolds and how the mystery around her neighbour Marcus keeps you guessing and wanting more (I don’t want to spoil any juicy details). I’m excited for book 2 and seeing more of Lucy’s story unfold, so many possibilities.

The Girl and the Raven by Pauline Gruber is a captivating YA paranormal romance. With the death of her mother 16 year old Lucy’s world is turned upside down. Moving states away to live with her uncles in Chicago her world only gets more twisted around. She discovers that she isn’t just a human teenage girl, but half-witch half-demon. These secrets open a new and dangerous world for Lucy. If the normal teenage problems of losing a parent, starting at a new school, and crushing on the good looking neighbor were not enough, the magical world being added into the mix sure is enough to keep Lucy busy. New friends, old friends, family, and a boyfriend what more could a girl ask for? Danger lurks near as Lucy learns more about herself. Stranger attacks and choices must be made. A unique story that hooks you from the first page and keeps you reading. I found it hard to put the book down and cannot wait to read the next book in the series. This is my first read by Pauline and I can guarantee it will not be my last.

This book was a page turner of events. Other then the supernatural part it really brought back some memories of being a teenage in high school and trying to fit in. The supernatural part of this book was amazing, the twists and turns this book made always kept me wondering what was happening next, and what was going to happen. It starts off right away by grabbing up with the tragic event with her mother and then finding out who she is and what she can do. The evil that also is in the world and everything that made her come to the point where she is now. I really can’t wait for the next book; this is a must read.

The Girl and the Gargoyle: YA Paranormal Romance (The Girl and the Raven #2) by Pauline Gruber

This is the second book by Gruber that I’ve read. The Girl and the Gargoyle is the second book in The Girl and the Raven Series. It does need to be read in order.

Lucy has spent almost a year with her uncles. Life keeps getting worse. Now it’s her turn to help Marcus deal with his family problems. Not only does she have Seamus after her, but Garrett as well. The quote I chose for Lucy is: “I trust my gut and my gut says Garret has a team of soldiers at Jude’s house. We have to get to Lake Forest. Now!”

Marcus hasn’t seen his mother in several years. Now he’s got his family to deal with. Keeping Lucy safe last time almost killed him. What will happen to him this time? What of Lucy? The quote I chose for Marcus is: “Save… my… mother. Get out of here! Leave Garret to me.”

Highly recommended for YA Paranormal lovers.

Cliffhangers should be illegal. The end of this book had me on the edge of my seat. I loved reading this second installment. The plot twists had me scrambling for more. The relationship between Lucy and her dad caught me off guard and was not expecting it. The Lucy/Marcus/Dylan triangle had me groaning inside a little but I was happy with the hopeful end result. Hopefully. Watching Lucy grow and actually handle things maturely and not irrationally made me extremely happy. I still have so many questions on how all of these little odds and ends are going to be finished in book 3. I’m a little sad but excited to read more in book 3. Thouroghly enjoyed book 2!

Right away this story grabs your attention with our main character. Lucy is just a 16 year old trying to cope with her life.

She is then thrown into a turmoil. As she ends up living with her great uncles, she learns she is not of this world. Which she already had a clue to.

This story had wonderful fantasy elements to it that I don’t believe we see often enough. It wasn’t all fairies and mortals. No, it was something much different. I cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of this series. And would recommend it to anyone who truly loves a fresh feel to a Young Adult series.

The Girl and the Raven tells the story of Lucy, a teen who has no idea who she really is…until her mother passes away and she is sent to live with her uncles. When she learns the truth about her family, and herself, Lucy is thrown into a world she never imagined could be real.

This Young Adult novel was great. The writing is superb. I am usually not a reader who enjoys stories that switch between multiple points of view, but this one was done so seamlessly that it never once was an issue. The characters are fantastic and the danger is real–the twists and turns just keep coming! Great first novel for the series and I can’t wait to read more!

This book has all the makings of a wonderful YA paranormal story! Lucy has had a life riddled with unfair circumstances and the author does a great job of reeling you in from the first sentence. I loved the watching her as she grew from a young girl unsure of herself into a young woman who knew what was truly important. She deals with the same things all teen girls deal with but there is a twist…she isn’t human. This story is filled with the supernatural and keeps you wondering what will happen in the end. It can get slow at times but towards the end picks back up and reels you in! It has love, heartbreaks, witches, demons, and more!

The Girl and the Raven: a YA Paranormal Romance by Pauline Gruber

This is the first book by Gruber that I’ve read. It won’t be my last as this author has a way of writing. I could easily get lost in her words.

Lucy has lost her mother and is being moved to Chicago. Once she arrives her life is turned upside down. Her uncles don’t know the family history and that she’s part of that history. The quote I chose for Lucy is: “And Seamus… He’s out there still. Part of the deal is that I have to train with Jude. I need to be able to protect myself.”

Marcus isn’t only human, but something else. Meeting Lucy has brought out the protective side of him. Saving her from danger and evil. The thought that he could lose her hurts him. The quote I chose for Marcus is: “I love you and I know you don’t want to hear this, but the thought of you going to meet with Jude on your own scares the hell out of me.” I’m about to interrupt, but he presses a finger to my lips. “Please stop being stubborn. Let me help you come up with another plan.”

Highly recommended for Ya Paranormal lovers.

The Girl and the Raven is a delightful tale of a girl that wants a less complicated life. Her personal struggles with herself and the life she left in Tennessee are described so accurately that you can feel her ups and downs as she meets new people in Chicago. Pauline Gerber created a plot that ignites a reader’s imagination with all the nuances of Lucy’s life in Chicago. What a great storyline to build a series off of!

Lucy is hopeless when her mother, an alcoholic and a drug addict, is dropped off in front of their trailer in Tennessee dead. Lucky for her, she has two loving uncles that live in Chicago. She craves a life where things are normal.

On arriving in Chicago, she runs into a man who sends electric shocks into her fingers. Not exactly what she was hoping for. At her uncles’ three flat, her upstairs neighbor is a teenage hunk! Marcus, the hunk, becomes her protector; only Lucy doesn’t know why she’s being protected.

Circumstances change quickly. Lucy learns about a world of witches, demons, and half-demons. Things that she has never heard of in her life. A lot of decisions must be made quickly. Will Lucy choose the path to her destiny? Will her decisions keep those she loves safe?

The Girl and the Raven by Pauline Gruber is the first book in a new YA paranormal romance series, The Girl and the Raven. Lucy is the main character and she has just discovered more than she ever could imagine about herself and her family. I really like this flawed and likable character. She comes across as realistic because she does not react to what is going on with a wealth of teenage trope attitude. Instead, she is shocked, dismayed, intrigued, and curious. I like this is not another teen story following the same storyline of many other YA paranormal stories. I was curious as to where the story was leading and want to continue reading this series. The interactions between the different factions kept me curious and I really like the characters. They are well developed and focused on the story. I look forward to reading more from this author soon.

This was a great paranormal read. It has a mixture of everything that keeps you gripped from danger, to romance. This book is full of twists and turns which keeps you guessing and keeps you hooked.

Lucy is a young girl who has a traumatic life. Her mother was heavily into drugs and was returned to Lucy dead after a night out. Lucy was heartbroken and now all alone she thinks. But there are secrets that she doesn’t know. Secrets that will change her view of herself and also put her in danger.

When she goes to live with her uncles after her mothers death she starts to learn about the truth of her gifts. This revelation opens her eyes to a whole new world she didn’t know existed and puts her in danger when her demon father trys to find her.
Add to this a romance with Marcus who lives upstairs. As perfect as he seems he isn’t who or what he seems to be.
This books will keep you guessing all the way through and you feel Lucy grow from a shy unconfident girl into a more confident girl.

When Lucy’s mother dies suddenly, her life is changed in more ways than she ever could have expected. She moves to Chicago to live with her uncles…but she notices weird things are happening around her. Why did a stranger feel like he electrocuted her at the airport? Where is her late grandmother’s bird? And how is she going to fit in at her new school? Oh….and how does she deal with the secrets being revealed by those around her? (That’s probably the most important!)

Lucy is making friends, falling for a boy, and feeling confused about another…all while she is also trying to deal with the fact that someone is after her and she can’t even trust her own father. As Lucy’s world begins to open up as secrets are told, she must fight to keep herself safe while not losing herself in the process.

This book is filled with a lot going on…and I was never sure who to really trust. In fact, I’m still not really sure. I enjoyed watching Lucy learn about herself and take ahold of it and not shy away from it. She became stronger and is finding her way in this new crazy world. Can’t wait to see what future books have in store for her!

The Girl and the Raven took a much better turn then I expected going into this story. I really thought this was going to be a typical YA with a love triangle as the focus and the plot would be more centered around it, but I was wrong, completely. I felt so connected to Lucy, as far as coming from a broken home and trying to find her place not to mention having to move to another town to live with her grandmother. This book also goes through the Good vs Evil in a person and the struggle that comes with it, I absolutely love that because sometimes a character can have both qualities and still be a decent person!! Jude turned out better then I expected as a father and the fact there are gargoyles in this has me reeling. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a not so typical Paranormal Romance YA Book!!! Pauline Gruber really knocked this out of the park!
