The Girl Who Escaped was a sensational masterpiece. This thriller keeps you guessing at every move and on your toes with each character, especially Jack and Cody. At the end, you’re left scrambling for more after the wild ride you were on since the first page. Absolutely astounding.

This book is absolutely, perfectly, written. There’s not a bunch of rambling setup, and it just jumps in to the story hooking you from the very first paragraph. The characters are engaging and the reality of the situation is absolutely terrifying in its possibility. Angie is a college girl on spring break with her friends who manages to survive a kidnapping attempt. Unfortunately, her friends don’t and she gets blamed for their deaths. Due to a series of horrible circumstances, she winds up in a psychiatric hospital. Enter Brenda, Jake, and Cody. The FBI and Team that are there to help Angie both catch her kidnapper and regain her sense of self. This case is bigger than just Angie and her friends, and will make your blood run cold. Hold on for the ride with this one, because it’s intense. You’re not going to regret it.

The Girl Who Escaped By Mark Nolan 4 out of 5 stars
One month ago, four college girls were abducted. Three were brutally murdered. One girl escaped. Angie Taylor was traumatized and shocked speechless. The police think she killed her friends, and then had a mental breakdown. Her psychiatrist believes she has an emotionally unstable personality disorder. Can she ever speak up and describe the killer’s face to a police sketch artist? Is the murderer stalking her right now, eager to finish what he started? Everyone in the city is on edge, fearing the worst, not sure what to believe. A visit from a determined FBI agent shakes things up and raises the stakes. FBI Special Agent Brenda Reynolds of the VSRT must investigate whether the mysterious silent girl is a victim, a killer, or has gone insane.
**** When I read a Suspense or Thriller novel my expectations are always high. I’m preparing to be immersed, challenged and baffled by the twists I didn’t see coming.
Author Mark Nolan knows how to deliver that experience. With an incredible can’t-put-down plot, well-developed characters, and a rollercoaster of a ride you will be flipping pages quick trying to get to the next chapter.
I highly recommend this book and will be reading other Mark Nolan books in the future.

Clear your schedule for the day when you plan to start reading this one! You won’t be able to put it down!
Angie and a group of her friends are wanting to enjoy their last night of spring break. They go out to all the places where all the people are but Angie has this nagging feeling. Something’s not right. A hot waiter passes by them handing out jello shots and her friends are all hands on grabbing those shots. Angie passes as she’s the designated driver for the night. Before she knows it, she sees the waiter again, only this time in the back of her SUV with his gun pointed at the head of one of her friends. Angie is ordered to drive down a path that has only one end. A dead one…..
Angie escapes physically but the scars will remain forever. While spending some time in a mental hospital, she meets great people like Evelyn, Brenda, Jake, and Cody. Together, they form a bond that will help to bring justice to those that caused great harm to Angie and her friends.
Wow, this book has several twists and turns! It kept me on the edge of my seat and I wasn’t able to put this book down until I finished it from the very beginning. I love the author’s notes at the end of this book too, going over some safety tips while discussing how some of the scenarios came about for this book. I highly recommend this one and it’s definitely in my top 3 for book of the year for 2022!!

I love a book with an awesome dog that does not die during the book! I enjoyed the dynamic between Cody and Jake and all the good they do in the story. The world needs more characters like that. If you enjoy books with mystery, crime-fighting, and a strong female lead you will like this book. I thought the writing, in the beginning, was a little awkward and some of the aspects of the island situation were a little farfetched, but it was definitely original and interesting to consider. I did appreciate the ending.

This book had my mind running from the beginning. I was not able to put it down until I was finished with the marathon. And what a run it was! I feel exhausted but relieved. The author does a great job capturing your attention from beginning to end. I also love that the author details at the end of the book what parts of the story are true and what parts are not. The detail is what makes this novel so intriguing, but the fact that the author did their research to help bring the book to life makes it that much better.
Everyone has a mindset of “that can’t happen to me”, until it does happen to them. The events in this book need to remind everyone that it CAN happen to you and teach you to be more vigilant during our every day activities; whether it is driving home from work or going to a crowded beach party. I most definitely recommend this novel to any crime/mystery readers. This one will not disappoint!

I enjoyed this suspenseful story. This is not my first story by this author but it is one of my favorites yet. This is a well written story that has twists and turns that are not only edge sitting but also made the story hard to put down. I enjoyed how the author used details to make the story realistic and engaging. The characters pull you into the story from the start. They are connectable, strong and supportive of each other. This is a story about four girls where three are murdered and one escaped. The question now is, is she a victim or killer? This is a story you don’t want to miss. There is great plot growth throughout. I really enjoyed reading this story and I highly recommend it.

I love the research that went into the writing of this book. This helped bring the characters alive and the events plausible to real life. Some chapters are written from a different character view point, or continues the same viewpoint. This gives refreshing insight into what propels the story forward. I liked the idea of the therapy dog helping the main character through her trauma and the FBI having a victim’s unit. The apple airtags was something my daughter told me about when she bought some to use. Thank you to the author for adding a section to let the reader know what was fiction and what was fact. There is plenty of suspense to keep the pages turning. I enjoyed the book and will go back and read others in the series!

This book brought what is known as suspense, to a whole new level! I can not believe how this book went about, it was just so good! Action was at every page turn, and full of thrills an suspense!
Ok, as I said the suspense was real and a real page turner. What really hooked me was what the story gave me, and how there was more than meets the eye. When I thought I had things figured out with what went on with Angie, I was wrong, so wrong. I loved this book kept me guessing. And when you were given a little bit of what could lead to the truth, you were given a turn and twist that led elsewhere. The writing was sensational! I was very impressed from start to finish! Freaking loved this page turner book!
The book was a sensational read from start to finish. I had to keep reading to see what would unravel. I certainly must say its a must read, and without a doubt, a very high recommendation from this reader!

I was enraptured by The Girl Who Escaped. The author kept you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I have love/hate relationships with crime dramas. I either love them or hate them, no in between. This one I loved! I couldn’t put it down. Keeping me interested even when not feeling well, reading it cover to cover in one go. Angie, a victim who has been convicted of a crime she didn’t commit. Ends up arrested and in a psychiatric facility due to her traumas. She feels she let her bestfriends down when she ran for her life, because it meant the end of theirs. Now it’s time to prove her innocence. With the help of FBI agent Brenda as well as Jake and his dog Cody, she’s on a mission of redemption and closure. Zarin is after her. She injured him greatly and got away. He can’t let her live to see another day. Unfortunately the Prince wants her for himself. So now he’s on the mission to get her back and bring her to him. The author weaves a wonderful story of a girl’s redemption and survival. While also shedding light on one thing a lot of young women fear. Kidnapped for trafficking. This book was well written and keeps you interested the whole way through. If you like crime dramas, give this author a shot! I know I will look into other books by this author in the future, I’m definitely a fan!

I’m not normally a thriller kind of girl but after seeing the intriguing cover and reading the synopsis I knew I had to read this one right away. I have read a couple of books by this author and he never disapoints. Full of mystery, suspense, drama, and more this book definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. Combine all of that with the incredible character development, and the fantastic word building, and we’re in for a wild ride.

This book was amazingly written, packed full of action, drama and redemption. I loved how well this flowed and gripped you from the first page. This author puts a lot of thought and background into this novel, that is bulletproof. I would recommend this book to all the “Criminal Mind’s” fans out there. I felt at times that I was watching a movie but realized I was reading. Can’t wait to read more from this author. Thank you for a wonderful gateway!

I was gripped from start to finish by this crime, mystery thriller and found this story to be a real page turner. Angie Taylor was the only one of four college girls who were abducted to escape and survive, the other three were brutally murdered. One month later and the traumatised Angie is yet to speak, it’s believed the shock has caused her to become speechless. Angie is unable to talk about her experience and has been unable to speak to describe to a police sketch artist the murderers face. Police are starting to think that she killed her friends and then had a mental breakdown, even her psychiatrist believes that Angie has an emotionally unstable personality disorder. With everyone in the city not sure what to believe, but fearing the worst, that there is a killer on the loose, the FBI send in someone to hopefully get some answers. FBI Special Agent Brenda Reynolds, of the VSRT has been assigned the case, and she must investigate whether, Angie, the silent girl is in fact a killer, has gone insane, or is she actually a victim. If she is a victim then she could still be in danger from a killer who wants to finish what he started. The storyline had me hooked from page one and the plot twists kept me guessing. The story was full of drama and suspense and I felt immersed in the novel. The main characters all bring something different to the overall story. I really felt for Angie, and found that her traumatised state came across in the narrative. Brenda is definitely a ‘no nonsense’ Special Agent and I felt she brought the story together. I loved the interactions between her and retired Marine, Jake Wolfe and of course Cody, his military dog. This was an entertaining read and one which I recommend.

Omg this was an amazing Thriller. I have loved the books by this author from the first one I’ve read and this one is so good. The author does an amazing job of creating a story that is suspenseful and keeps the reader really gripped. The twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat not wanting to stop reading until you find out the ending.
In this story we are with Angie. What started out as a holiday with her friends turns into a nightmare when they are kidnapped. Angie manages to escape but that’s where things go from bad to worse. After returning to the car with police her 3 friends are found dead and Angie is the number 1 suspect. Angie trys to explain about the kidnapper but with no evidence of anyone else being involved the police don’t believe her. All this trauma causes Angie’s body to shut down and she loses the ability to talk and tell her side of the story.
When FBI Agent Brenda Reynolds comes to see her she realises the only way to get this kidnapper is to get Angie to talk but that is no simple task.
Now it’s a race against time as the kidnapper/killer is still out there and has his eye on Angie. He won’t settle until he gets the girl that got away. Will Angie find her voice before its too late? Will she be able to give a description of the kidnapper or will the trauma she suffered be too great for her to remember anything? And will the kidnapper succeed in his tasks of getting his revenge on Angie?

This story takes off on page one. The girls are out enjoying the evening when they are kidnapped. Angie is the designated driver, and the other girls are about to pass out. Angie being on her guard knew something was up. But she did not expect what would happen. Or the outcome she is faced with. Her only hope is VSRT Agent Brenda Reynolds and retired Marine Jake and his K-9 companion Cody. I am sure you have read stories with Jake and Cody. Anyway, the girl is in trouble and too scared to speak of the incident. This author once again did not disappoint. His story is fast paced and will have you on the edge of your seat. The writing is clear and bone chilling. The characters are likable and your heart will go out for Angie. This is a must read suspenseful story you can’t miss out on. I recommend you read this as well as the other books from this author.

From the start this books hooks the readers attention and never lets go! Readers can just feel the tension coming off the pages and each turn of the page gives readers more to focus on! This is one of the best written books I have read in a long time. The characters and character development are off the charts and every twist and turn is just right for where readers are at in the book!

I have read every book Mark has written. I fell in love with his Jake Wolfe series. I was so excited to see he has a new book out and didn’t wait to get my hands on it.
The Girl Who Escaped is another amazing crime, thriller, mystery from this author. Mark always delivers great narrative and vivid details and cleverly woven threads that draw you into the story. The adventure does not let up and continues all the way through this enticing and enthralling, thrill ride. The nonstop tension and suspense are palpable. It was good to see Jake and Cody make an appearance. They are two of my favourite characters.
Angie is trapped in a world of terror, trauma and fear but she is unable to find her way out of this dark, dark hole she finds herself in.
I hope this turns into a series. I for one will be chopping on the bit to grab whatever comes next.

This is an outstanding mystery/thriller. I found myself on the edge-of-my-seat holding my breath as I was reading. Angie was just trying to do what was right. It’s crazy what can happen when you ignore your gut. The drama is very intense. I loved every minute of it. The story has twists that just may have you looking over your shoulder. I can remember having a stalker at that age. Though the creeps and chills were there for me, I found the characters well0written. Angie and Brenda are very relatable. The plot was well written and scarily true. It could have been taken from today’s headlines. Those are my favorite stories because you feel the thriller, the emotions; you feel it all. The scene at the beginning had me jumping myself, that’s how good it was. I will be adding this author to my favorites list. Get out there and buy this one. You must read this one.

Angie Taylor was out with her three friends for the night, wrapping up a good time when they are all taken. Angie is the only one who got out alive. What should have been an investigation into who too them turns into Angie being put in a mental hospital and the police believing she killed her friends.
Brenda Reynolds is an FBI agent for the VRST who believes there is more to Angie’s case then what the police surmised. The only problem she has in figuring out what happened to Angie is Angie, she has not spoke since being admitted. Can Brenda come up with a plan to help Angie and figure out who is behind her abduction and friends murder?
I enjoyed this book. When reading a suspense/thriller I am always looking for a book that gives me pause so I can try and figure out what is going to happen. This book had quite a few twists, very good book.
