This book was a pleasant surprise from start to finish. Not usually a fan of science fiction I was instantly hooked into a story line that kept my attention from start to finish. While I would say this is geared towards young adult, it was an enjoyable read for anyone! Highly recommend if your looking for the right story to bring you in to science fiction.

This book had such a flow to it, that I couldn’t put it down! The title alludes to a children’s song in the book, and characters harken back to it periodically through the novel. Who can’t relate to the heroine, a reluctantly dutiful daughter who wants the freedom to make her own decisions about her life? Readers confront the effects of technology. So-called civilization is juxtaposed against rural life. Ultimately, the protagonist must decide how she wants to live her life, something we all must do at some point.

I like finding new authors and I like to check out different genres from my norm. I found that the author had a refreshing plot and a unique story. I found that the story had enough drama and action to really keep the reader’s attention. I felt as though I was there right in the thick of the action.
I really enjoyed the the fantasy/sci-fi aspect of this story. I am quite sure that the actual given audience for this book would really enjoy this book. The author has a story that will engage the reader. I would definitely read more from this author in the future.

This book was a quick read and was so good. It sucked me in from the first page and I actually forgot it was a novella. When it ended I wanted more. The story was original and I can’t wait to read the other books from this world. It’s also a great reminder that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

When I picked up this book, I was not sure what to expect initially….and I enjoyed this book very much. I love a good book with a futuristic YA sci fi feel. I was really pulled toward Celeste, even though she is young, she is strong and she wants more in life then helping to run an inn that her family has. Celeste jumps at a great opportunity to leave her home, but unsure it is all what is cracked up to be. Her family has powers and those powers can lead to danger. I would like to see more of what is to come in this series for sure.

This book draws you in from the beginning with the main character Celeste wanting something different in life. It’s that constant idea that we all deal with that the grass is greener on the other side. This book is wonderful because it has just the right touch of magic and real world problems. It’s great to watch Celeste on her journey and she is so relatable.

Tavormina – Review by Heather Goodman
Turaset is a place of two halves, the countryside where everything is done in connection with nature, is done by hand and is full of traditions and family, the other half are the cities, they are swimming with industry, they have power and although they have traditions and family values as well, it is all centered around the industry there and they think everyone else is below them if they do not hold the same opinions, they are entitled and know it.
Celeste is seventeen years old and lives in a small country village, her life has been mapped out for her and she cannot think of anything worse, she feels stifled and longs for adventure of her own, so when an opportunity presents itself, she latches on with both hands. She finds out that she will be staying in a dormitory where she makes friends with her roommate, as well as some others who are from the city and she loves learning about all of them.
As Celeste spends more time in the city, she realised just how much she has seen and experienced and how much her opinions have changed, but that’s isn’t all. She finds out that being from the country isn’t the only reason they want to know her, they also want to know about her family history, in particular about a certain genetic trait which is very rare and very dangerous. This trait includes the ability to sense carbon emmisions in the air and is something the industrialists and big oil companies want to eradicate.
Will Celeste be able to keep herself and her family safe while keeping her own identity as the city slickers try to erase it? This is a coming of age tale which will challenge what you know about strength, relationships and yourself as you follow along on this journey of self discovery.

I thought this were quite an interesting story with a strong character right at it’s core. I was engaged by this story right from the start and I thought the main character played a great part. The overall story intrigued me enough to keep reading and I wanted to know what was going to happen. This is a new author to me and I liked how they developed the story. Everything was done in a way that kept my interest and made me want to read more. I am excited to see what else there is to come from this author.

Seven Strengths: A Tale from Turaset is a prequel to the Industrial Age trilogy. It is the first I have read, but likely will continue reading. It took me a while to get into the story, as the first 1/3 or so wasn’t that interesting to me. After the groundwork was set, then I started to get hooked. It is a short story, that I read in a day or two. It tells the coming of age story of Celeste, in another time. Celeste is raised in the foothills, with limited technology, no electricity or cars, etc. Her life is filled with hard work and she longs to go to the City’s and see how the other half lives. She finally gets her wish, and attends school for two years, experiencing city life, both good and bad. When she returns back home for a quick trip, she is able to compare the two “lives” she’s been living. Earning a greater understanding to both lives, and weigh her options. Her family has secret powers, which may put her families lives at risk. The book ends in somewhat of a cliff hanger, and I look forward to seeing what comes next for Celeste and her friends and family.

Wow! What a wild world, Turaset. I was so invested in Celeste’s life and world. It’s the same old thing we hear all the time, the grass is not always greener on the other side. I can understand Celeste feeling suffocated living in the countryside, she dreams of more, and I was pleased to see her get the opportunity to live in the city. It was exciting to see her find her way, meet Enzo, form a friendship with Nora and gain the knowledge she always wanted to bring back to her home. Enzo, he’s a mess, I had my fingers crossed constantly that Celeste would stop being naive and get rid of him. In the end I think she made a good decision on what she wanted to do with her life and how she wanted to be and I really hope we get to see more of Nora and Celeste and her family. This world, the things that happen and the creatures all make for an interesting read, I highly recommend!

This book was excellent! I really enjoyed the different take on a different time and place. The intentionality with which the author built the world, creating and building different types of places and biases is absolutely amazing. It mirrors our world, showcasing the differences between the citizens. However, even with the differences between them and us, the characters are still relatable, making me want to know them more.

I did not know what to expect when diving into this story…but it sure had a way to keep my attention from beginning to end.
Celeste has grown up in Collimais, working at the family’s inn. However, she wanted more than owning the inn someday in the future. She had a a dream of leaving Collimais, chasing her own dreams, and making her own decisions about her future. She did not want to be confined to the traditional ways of businesses being passed down through generations and marriages being arranged. When an opportunity arises for her to leave and head into the city for schooling, she finds a way to make it happen (even when everyone around her is telling her “no”). But, while she’s away, she is learning about a world that is so different than her own, falling in love, and being reminded of the reasons her foothills upbringing is being threatened by those in the city. When she visits home after a year, and to escape the stressors at school, she finds that maybe the way she viewed the confines of her home-life were not as stifling as she once thought. But, when one of her family members is attacked, she sees the danger that the city people pose. What will she do after graduation? Should she find a job in the city or return to the foothills?
This is a story of the grass isn’t always greener on the other side…just different. People are always searching for something more…something better…but sometimes that doesn’t exist. I enjoyed Celeste’s desire and pursuit of finding herself. I also enjoyed her learning and acceptance that life, and people, aren’t better away from home. It was an interesting story that I enjoyed reading.

This is a tale of a young girl , celesta who dreams big and wants to make a difference in this world . Tired of her rural mundane life , when she gets a chance to do something different, she grabs the opportunity, but what it appears to be is not what it is .The plot is gripping and is full of action and adventure . There were few loop holes in the plot but overall a gripping read .

Beautiful energetic Celeste wants so much more than to work in the family business. She wants adventure, and her parents want her where she is. What a hard decision for Celeste. She is 17 and thinks she knows best. OK not really, she just wants more than the Family Inn offers. She takes a trip out of the country and into the city. Where she finds life to be much more than she expected, and not in a good way. This “new to me,” author writes a story to interest the YA readers. Her story is fast paced and keeps the reader interested. The characters are strong and experience many emotions which keeps you the reader reading. I enjoyed reading the story and look forward to reading the series. Bring on the next exciting read. Review@Cinful

This book was a really enjoyable, thought provoking read. I felt such strong emotions of our lead character Celeste. The journey she goes through in this story is amazing and very inspiring. Celeste has grown up in the foothills. Always living in the quiet country she longs for an exciting life in the city. She doesn’t want to be married to a person her parents choose, or be running their Inn. She doesn’t understand why her parents are so over protective of her. Their worry isn’t unfounded though as their family holds a special gene which means some members are able to see pollution and there are people in the world that what them gone. When Celeste gets the opportunity to go to university in the city she jumps at it. However things aren’t as perfect as she imagines and she starts to realise that maybe home is where she is truelly meant to be.

Seven Strengths: A Tale From Turaset is the prequel to The Industrial Age Trilogy by P.L Tavormina. Ms. Tavormina is a new-to-me author, so I really didn’t know what to expect going into this story. But the premise intrigued me enough to want to grab a copy and dive right in. What I discovered is a futuristic coming of age story set in another world. It is a YA sci-fi story with a bit a dystopian feel to it. With challenges, danger, hidden agendas, politics, greed, good vs evil, family, ‘abilities’, and some drama- we end up with an interesting story that really gave me pause for thought. Celeste couldn’t wait to ‘escape’ her boring and predictable life- but she certainly wasn’t prepared for what would happen. The excitement she was yearning for didn’t involve quite so much danger and drama. Nothing is quite what it seems, as Celeste faces a ruthless adversary who will do whatever it takes to get what they want. Interesting premise. Happy reading!

This is a coming-of-age a Sci Fi dystopian novella and is the prequel to The Industrial Age trilogy. It is a futuristic tale set on other planets. It soon becomes known that not all is as it seems. Climate change crisis, pollution and technology cause damage and large corporations are out for themselves. To that end they will hunt those who have different abilities that may hinder their desired outcome. It is a dangerous enemy and one who will stop at nothing to win. Drama, political agendas, struggles, science, genetic modifications, greed and fortune are all things that this tale has that make it thought provoking.

I really loved the writing of this book, and how things had flowed out. I was hooked into the whole story line and how things went by. It was well done, and the writing and the characters flowed very nicely. I was very impressed, and the story kept me very interested as I read.
Celeste was a main contribute to the story in my eyes. I loved her mind and how she really thought and saw the word. She was your normal teenager I found in a small way , she wanted more than she had going on in her life What she was ca[able of though, I found very intriguing I found. I enjoyed the excitement and the suspense as I read through, it had a lot of moments you weren’t sure where things would lead to next. The side characters really added to the story line as well, everyone was easy to love, except maybe those who meant hard. But they still made the story what it was! Loved it!
Wonderful and intriguing story from start to finish. i could not ask for a concept of writing that was better. I defiantly am going to be looking up more books by this wonderful author. I highly recommend this book, I truly believe it is one that will be enjoyed by all. Has a bit of everything.

Celeste is set to inherit her family’s hotel, which she doesn’t want, in this dystopian story. There is danger ahead as she sets off to the city thinking she will find more. This is a well-written tale that makes you go hmm…her family has a genetic oddity in the DNA that can sense carbon footprints and the bad guy wants them dead. That makes for an exciting thrill. Celeste has a few adventures and meets some unique personalities along the way. They are well-developed and quirky. She’s a newer author to me and this is a prequel novella. I will be reading the next in the series. I love the concept. I enjoyed the book. If you enjoy YA books, dystopian books or just plain reading, give this a shot. It’s a quick read. I highly recommend it.

I enjoyed this shorter story. This is a newer author for me which I enjoyed and look forward to seeing what is next for this author. I enjoyed being pulled into the story by the characters. Celeste is a great, strong, teenager who really just wanted some excitement in her life. What happens when she finds a small village and the townspeople are willing to show her more than she ever realized. When she realizes that she may be out of depth in this small village, what will she do? I enjoyed her character and what she brought to the story. I also enjoyed how connectable and supportive she was as well as the other characters. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout the story which added to the story. This is a well written story that was both entertaining and easy to read. It is a great pick up. I highly recommend this book.

In a remote country village, seventeen-year-old Celeste yearns for excitement. When the bright lights of a distant city beckon, she makes her way there, and city folk show Celeste more of the world than she ever imagined.
But these people have their reasons to cozy up to a country teenager, because Celeste’s family carries an ancient genetic ability to track carbon emissions by sight. The trait is powerful enough to undercut Turaset’s oil industry, and the titan running that industry wants Celeste’s family killed. Soon, she realizes how out of her depth she is.
