Do you know who your neighbors are? Dex has a normal family life and a normal job, things are about to change.

The story itself is very good and very well formed. Real life places with a twisty story. There are author notes at the end of each chapter which get a little extensive but you can definitely skip those.

Overall, it was a good book with an intriguing story line.

I absolutely love the way Brett McKay writes. He includes author’s notes at the end of each chapter which I’ve never seen any author do. I enjoyed reading them along with the rest of the book, and the flow of the story was amazing.

Dex is tired of his job as a car-salesman, and that was even before he saw a creepy man there. The sight of this stranger set off every instinctual alarm Dex had, but since he seemed to vanish, he tried to forget about it. He receives a mysterious package, but he shrugs it off until he and his family were kidnapped. Will Dex be able to save his family, or will they all perish together?

This book was a non-stop thrill ride trying to figure out what was happening. It is extremely fast-paced and I hope to hear more from this author. I highly recommend this book especially if you like supernatural thrillers!

This fast paced sci-fi mystery was intense, and had me on the edge of my seat for most of the book. While the character development was minimal I still felt like I got to know our characters well. The plot was original, well thought out, will keep you guessing through most of the novel. Personally I have never read anything by this author and normally I stay clear or the sci-fi but this one really opened up my mind. I will definitely be looking for more from this author.

I even liked the author commentary that was after each chapter as it gave me some insight into the inner workings of the author as he developed this amazing story. This story was jam packed with adventure and drama. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys paranormal stories with some bite.

Dex is a used car salesman, just waiting for a better job to come along. However, his wife and kids need him and he will continue his unfulfilling job to provide for them until a better one comes along. One night, while checking the lot, Dex meets a silver eyed man. That same evening, he gets a delivery on his doorstep and everything changes from here.

Dex and his family are kidnapped by intruders and end up in a bunker, with Dex begins being tortured for the answers to some very strange questions. When he can’t answer them, they figure they’ve gotten the wrong man, but now that they’ve kidnapped the family already, they need to just kill them.
The rest of the story is a race for Dex to save his family and figure out the secret behind the strange delivery before anyone catches up with them.

The descriptions in this book are excellent and keep you enthralled and flipping the pages. The solidness of Dex and his dedication to his family makes for a great read, but not in a way that makes it predictable. Twists and turns at every corner. The author includes notes at the end of each chapter, which I really enjoyed. It was nice seeing how one thing led to another in his head.

The Intruders by Brett McKay. Oh yall….this book was amazing. It’s my favorite genre which is thriller mysteries. Its the story of Dex who is a used car salesman. He has a pretty normal life, he quit a higher paying job so that he could spend more time with his family. One night him and his wife and kids are kidnapped after their house is broken into. Dex has never seen these people before but they know everything about him and his life. Trying to make his family more comfortable he makes a deal with them that he will tell them everything he knows if they will take care of his family. Its still not enough. These silver eyed people are everywhere and they are kidnapping people all over. When Dex’s family is able to escape with the help of a friend they are basically on the run. When you start this book you better buckle up because it is a fast paced read until you are finished kind of book. I loved it!

Whoa! Who knew that a book written about a used car salesman could be so entertaining? I truly mean it when I say…what a book!! This was an intense, thrilling, terrifying story! Brett had such spectacular descriptions of everything, so much detail made the book that much better. The fighting scenes were extremely detailed, it was amazing the thought process that went into the way he explained how someone was hurt. Dex (the main character) goes from plain ol’ used car salesman to a badass! The plot, characters, all of it…truly amazing! Also, the way that Brett included his author notes after each chapter and didn’t spoil anything about the plot was AWESOME! I don’t think I have ever read a book that the author took time to include their notes! This was my first book by Brett, and I’ll definitely be checking out some of his other books. I love page turners and books that I can’t put down, and this was definitely one of those type of books!

Dex is a used car salesman who works hard to make ends meet to support his wife Reagan and their two sons. Although he hates his job, he chooses to make the most of it until something better comes along. Dex’s life seems normal until him and his family are suddenly kidnapped by strangers in the middle of the night. They are taken to an underground bunker and Dex is tortured and asked questions that he is unable to answer. When he cannot answer the questions, his kidnappers decide that Dex is of no use to them, and they now intend to kill Dex and his entire family.

Dex must act quickly to save himself and his family before it is too late. As Dex struggles to save his family from these vicious killers his entire life is changed. Not only is he fighting pure evil but in doing so he uncovers the terrifying truth that there is something far more sinister at work. Dex discovers that there are supernatural beings hiding amongst us and they intend to take over the world. The problem is that these beings are hiding amongst us in plain sight disguised as normal people. So, who can Dex trust to save him and his family?

I was completely blown away by this book and how well written it was. The author does an amazing job of capturing the reader’s attention from the first few pages which makes the book impossible to put down. The characters were well developed, and each scene was written in so much detail that it makes the reader feel as though they are there. Not only were the scenes written vividly but the author did a superb job of capturing each moment of action and suspense in a remarkable manner that few authors are able to do. The character of Dex develops throughout the book and as you read you learn more about him and what he can and will do to save his family from the danger that surrounds them wherever they go. The action is explosive and non-stop throughout as Dex, his family, and friends are on the run trying to save themselves and the world as they know it. I especially loved the author’s notes and thoughts written at the end of each chapter. I found it unique and interesting to read what his thoughts were while writing each scene. I cannot recommend this book enough and look forward to reading more from this brilliant and talented author!

Dex is a struggling used car salesman just trying to make ends meet when he and his family are abducted by a group of armed men in the night. Even when they torture Dex he can think of no reason why he and his family have been targeted. When their captors assume they have to wrong guy, Dex and his family are marked for execution. They must escape the underground bunker and work out what is going on – who are they? And who did they think Dex was?

This was great! The pacing was perfect and the supernatural elements showed such creativity. Dex was such a likeable character. I was really invested in his family’s safety. All of the characters were written so well that they came to life and had me gasping when the intensity increased. Really enjoyed the action throughout and was satisfied with the ending.

If you enjoy a bit of action and badassery, then this is worth your time!

The format of this read was something different. The author gives his notes about each chapter right within the story. This worked well to his advantage because it made me want to read into the next chapter right away. The chapters were short and kept you hooked. Plenty of action and adventure for this family and learning their new lives after they were taken from their home. Even in a space that is supposed to be safe, you never know who you will be able to trust! Great read!

The Intruders is a supernatural thriller – not a genre I usually pick up. With that said, it is action packed and suspenseful. Dex, the main character, is a car salesman. While at work, he notices someone strange hanging around. This leads to him and his family getting abducted. His abductors know everything about Dex’s life. Dr. H wants more information from Dex. He has to find a way to save himself and his family. They must escape and stay away from danger.
If you like the supernatural, and you like thrillers – you will enjoy this book!

This was a good 4 star read. This was a different genre than what I typically read but I really enjoyed it. Dex is a true family man and is trying to keep things together for his family. He left a good job due to being gone so much and went with a job that was close to home. Things take a scary twist when his family is kidnapped from their home. WIll he be able to keep his family safe? What do the kidnappers want?

Overall this was an edge of your seat read. The author does a great job with his writing and it pulls you right in. I like how he would have notes at the end of each chapter. The ending has left me wondering if we will see another book. I look forward to reading more from this author. 1-click and get started today.

The Intruders is a fast paced Supernatural Thriller that is packed with action ,mystery and suspense. This is one of those books that will pull you in from the beginning and has your on the edge of your seat trying to put all the pieces together to figure out what is going to happen next. Im going to be honest I wasn’t real sure going in what to expect but I was intrigued by the title and the over. Boy am I glad I grabbed this book. This is a new to me author and hos style of writing and attention to detail make it seem so real. The characters are developed and make the story come to life. I literally read this in one afternoon I had to know what was going to happen next. This is a story about Dex , he’s a family man who works as a used car salesman and finds himself in a situation where he’s being held in a basement . Can they escape from the torture they’ve endured? I’m not usually into sci-fi, but this book caught my attention. Dex sacrifices his well paid occupation in order to spend more time with his family. So he settles himself working at a car dealership where he’s not getting paid well at all. One end of his shift day at work he happens into a strange encounter that leads to unexpected as well and as unexplained occurrences. Hopefully another part comes out for this book cause I’m really looking forward to reading it.

The intruders- Dex is a car salesman, he used to have a better job, but he walked away from that because he was gone from his family for too long. So he quit, got a local job, then something horrifying happens. His house is broken into, him, his wife, and two kids are kidnapped. These intruders seem to know everything about Dex’s life. His parents, their passing, his childhood best friend and his passing. They get Dex to spill his heart but it doesn’t seem to be enough. Dr H(the main kidnapper) wants to know everything and who is in charge. Dex makes a deal, his wife And children have blankets, pillows, and food and he will give them the information Dr H wants.
Dex and his family are able to escape thanks to Connor, but now they have to live life on the lam, they have to watch out for these groups that are kidnapping and torturing people. The silver eyed people are running for the government and it has to stop or this chaos will still continue on.
Really enjoying the authors notes at the end of each chapter because it gives you an insider of what they were thinking writing that chapter. I also enjoy that the very first chapter was the last, but now it’s not. So when you get to the end, re read the first chapter. This was such a fantastic read and so fast paced! Oh, Jenna, can you find someone to love you for you? Will they love you for only your money? Well, looks like that jerk, Steve, chose option #2. This is a fantastic story. The kidnapping was a plot of fools from the beginning. (It was planned that way). I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard. Jemma is a fighter and very independent. She’s going give it her all. She and Andy seem to have found each other in the unlikely spot. They feel like a good pair that deserve that second chance. They are one couple you love to read about being happy. The story is well- written. The characters are well developed. Each one is so relatable. Jemma feels so real, as does Andy. I loved how well it flowed, even when a twist appeared, it just came back together. Awesome story.

This was an fast paced intense sci-fi mystery. Dex thought the most difficult part of his life was finding a better paying job outside the car dealership and then a silver eyes man shows up. Little does he know that was the start of a series of life changing events. This was a book that made you wonder what else is out there and if there are other worlds. This was certainly a hard book to put down and each chapter brought more uncertainty. There was minimal character development but I really felt like I got to know each character and was rooting for their victory or loss. Ending was not what I was expecting and not sure if there are plans for a second book but it left it open to another.

This novel was a great thriller. It was very original and the plot seemed very well planned out. The characters also appear to have some personal flares added to them. It is obvious that the author put a good amount of heart and soul into this book. One of the main reasons I know this, is because of the author notes at the end of each chapter. Those notes were a nice way of connecting with the author, but I felt there were too many. Sometimes it felt like the author was just trying to fill space, which is one of the downsides of this book.

You can definitely get away with just not reading the author notes, but they were often fun and/or informative; there were few times they felt like filler notes. I would recommend this novel to anyone looking for an original plot and good characters that were handled with great care.

Beginning in chapter one, the reader is pulled into the life of Dex, is at a crappy car sales job during the day, and writes a novel at night (this reminds me of Tom Clancy and his debut novel- sales by day, writer by night). Dax sees a strange man at the end of his shift and gets a mysterious package in the mail. This piques curiosity for the reader and you want to know more about this stranger he sees. The cover only gives a hint at the strange supernatural events that unfold. The Intruders is full of action, danger, high-stakes, supernatural forces, and gripping details that keep the reader turning page after page. The transition from Kindle Vella felt like a smooth read and enjoyed reading the story!

The IntrudersThe Intruders by Brett McKay

The Intruders, originally published on Amazon’s Vella Platform is now an ebook. While I found the author’s notes at the end of each chapter to be distracting as I read; by the third chapter I skipped them, and the pace of the story flowed well. The story that Brett McKay brings to life was thrilling to read.
Dex Sanders is making his way through life as a car salesman, a career he’d like to change. He is a devoted husband and father. His life is turned upside down in the blink of an eye. Dex, his wife and children are abducted in the middle of the night and taken to an unknown place. When he is faced with a life-or-death situation, Dex only wants to keep his wife and children from harm’s way.
When an opportunity to escape is revealed, Dex and his family take refuge in a hotel with the police to protect them; however, can they trust the police, or anyone else?
Without giving away any details of the story, this book is action packed, fast-paced and I enjoyed reading it. I easily connected with the characters and rooted for them to triumph from start to finish.
I would recommend reading this book.

The Intruders is a fast-paced supernatural thriller and my first read of Casey’s work. Let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly intrigued. This is one book that you just can’t put down because you have to know what comes next and so on. To say I was engrossed in the story is an understatement.

Casey has cleverly woven plot is full of suspense and the intensity of the story is palpable. Jumping off the pages to have you on the edge of your seat and looking in those dark corners to see if anything is waiting in the dark.

I am not going to give anything away but suffice it to say this is one book you do not want to miss out on. With danger and violence, supernatural happenings and action this has something for anyone who loves this genre.

I look forward to see what else this author has.

This book was completely different from many other books that I have read. To be quite honest, I didn’t know if I liked it or didn’t like it, but at the same time, I could not put it down. Dex Sanders and his wife Reagan find themselves kidnapped and have no idea why. Thus begins a story of conspiracy and secrets so big it affects the entire world. I enjoyed the action as Dex and others fight the aliens from taking over the world and killing them. Also, the author made comments after every chapter. It was really interesting to read his thoughts. I loved the little side story of Pam and Connor. There will definitely be other books, and I look forward to reading them as well.

Looking for an interesting thriller type story? This author has one for you. The Intruders are just that…. intruders…beings that don’t belong and don’t mean well for human kind. The story is well written with main character Dex leading the way most of the time. His family is pretty important to him and the story. Other characters stand out as well. Connor, Quinn and Pam just to name a few.

Towards the climax of this story, I did not think Dex would find a way to overcome the intruders…as I write this review, I still have about 10 mins left to read and I am still wondering if all will be well!!! Definitely being kept on the edge of my seat while reading this adventure.

Interesting fun fact. This author includes an author’s note after each chapter. While that is something new to me, it brought a little bit of insight to the story from the author. It was weird at first for me but by the end of the story I was looking forward to seeing what he had to say.

I’d be interested in what else this author writes. Maybe another world saving mission for Dex!
