Such a cute story about a boy on his unbirthday. The presents are unique and have special gifts of their own. The characters are lovable and relatable. The illustrations are well done and beautiful to look at. Definitely worth the read and your kids will love it too!

By now I’ve read, enjoyed, and shared many of this authors books with my children. This book was no different. It was wonderfully illustrated with colorful, full page pictures, taught very valuable lessons about being unconventional, and unique. How to handle overwhelm and to slow down, think for yourself, and to problem solve. I really love sharing these books with my children and they really enjoy them as well. I look forward to reading many more in the future.

The Mind-Reading Hat, Invisible Magic Wand book 6, is a cute children’s story about Caspian who gets a hat and a thinking stone for his birthday from Grandpa. The hat leads him on adventures and the thinking stone helps him think about ways to help others. Read previous books in the series to find out what other magic things he’s received as gifts! Unique and wonderful idea for a children’s story.

I loved reading this book to my grandson. He always loves how vibrant the illustrations are. His birthday is coming up so this book grabbed his attention right away. This book is about a birthday surprise. Surprises are fun at any age. He checks under his bed and finds 2 boxes. What will be in them this year? He opens them both. He finds a hat and stone. He puts the hat on and can suddenly hear what others are thinking. He puts the stone in his pocket. Read the book to find out how the magic hat and stone help him.

I thought that this book was really cute. It’s Book six, of the “Invisible Magic Wand” series. Caspian gets a special box from his Grandpa every year on his UnBirthday. Every year the presents are nothing what he expects them to be. I love that his grandpa is involved in his unbirthday celebration. I think there is a little bit of everything in this story for everyone. I would definitely encourage adults, teens, and elementary age kids to read this story.

A great children’s book! Caspian receives to “unbirthday” gifts… a thinking stone from him mom and a Magic Hat from his granddad. He hears messages from others through his hat, and his stone helps him solve a problem – he rescues a turtle! What a good gift for an unbirthday! I love the illustrations in this book – they are beautiful!

I read the Mind Reading Hat to my 6 year old. He really enjoyed it, but was thrown off by UNbirthday. After we discussed it, he loved the idea and asked if he could have an UNbirthday too. Needless to say, I have a week to plan a party now lol. The story is fun and I love that it was non traditional. It included grandpa and neighbor as the important people in the child’s life. The gifts were creative and the art work was great. The book is very eye catching and colorful. It was a fun story and I would read others by the author.

This is such a cute book! And I just love the idea of an UnBirthday surprise! Every year Caspin and his Grandpa share a special tradition of a surprise box under his bed for his birthday. This year there was 2!!!! What could that second one be? What could it mean!? He opens up the presents and of course is shocked at what he got. He doesn’t understand why those gifts, but he remembers from previous birthdays (other books in series) that sometimes the gifts are far from what he expects. He brings his gifts downstairs and on the way learns about the first one. After his grandpa explains the bigger gift his mother gives him a hint about the smaller one and rushes off. He smells something out in the hall that brings him to another surprise of the day. What will he do with his new surprises? And what adventures await down the hall? Read this cute children’s book to find out! My 7 year old liked this book. It wasn’t super long and it was a fun plot, so it kept her interest until the end. The illustrations are cute and younger kids can follow the story plot with the pictures easily. I would defiantly recommend this book to kids ages 4-8. Younger kids being read to and the older kids reading out loud. I would also recommend getting the other in the set, but you can read it alone.
Caspian has a surprise and he just cannot wait! This is a fun and quick read that will delight children of all ages. What would you do with a little bit of magic? Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

Caspian wakes up the morning of his Unbirthday to find not one but two boxes from his Grandfather. One box contained a brown fedora that was no ordinary hat: it had the ability to read minds! The other box contained a smooth round rock. The hat gave Caspian the ability to hear other people’s thoughts in his head and it was wonderful! The stone was a thinking stone and helped him to come up with ideas when he rubbed it. Cute little story with a great plot of helping those in need with our talents and abilities. Easy to read. Quick to get tot know the characters and my ten-year-old granddaughter told me it was cute but a bit too young for her tastes. I recommend this book for under 8 years of age as they would be more entertained by it but the plot and message is good for all of us to hear occasionally. Help others when you can!
This is another cute story about Caspian and his unbirthday! Every year on his unbirthday, Caspuans grandfather gives him a special gift. This time it’s a mind reading hat! Very good young child series.

This is a very cute, imaginative story. The Mind-Reading Hat (Invisible Magic Wand Series Book 6) by Lois Wickstrom is a fun children’s read about a mind-reading hat, a thinking rock, and all the adventures they lead to.
The book begins on “Caspian’s UnBirthday,” having only read one other book in the series, I’m not quite sure what day he celebrates his “UnBirthday.” To get the full story for yourself and the children I would suggest reading the whole series or at least the book detailing what an “UnBirthday” is.
That being said, this is a very cute, imaginative story. It also has very colorful and appealing illustrations that help the reader travel through Caspian’s adventure along with him. This book has magic, adventure, and even shows instances of kindness by helping a turtle.
This short read was really enjoyable and I think it will inspire children’s imaginations about others thoughts and ways to problem solve. I’m excited to share this story with my grandchildren. It would be great for children 4 to 6, but really all ages can find something to love about it.

This was a very easy to read book with colorful illustrations. Caspian, on his “un birthday” gets two gifts from his grand dad, a hat, through which he can hear other’s thoughts and a unique stone, which helps him solve problems. But is it really rewarding to hear what other’s think? Caspian has an adventurous journey with his two gifts and the kids and we as parents can relate to the journey. Loved the book, recommended for kids, especially early readers.

I love that we get to see Caspian again, and him getting magical items that allow him to go on a short adventure. Here, a hat is gifted to him which allows him to hear what people around him are thinking.
The storyline is very cute and wholesome, and leads to a few little lessons.
The illustrations are well done and this whole series would be perfect for a kid’s storytime.

An Unusual Unbirthday gift This is the 6th book in the Invisible Magic Wand series. Such a magical picture story book that would suit early childhood readers. The illustrations are well done and the storyline creative and engaging. Caspian is a character that children can relate with and who wouldn’t want a hat that can read minds! Another brilliant book to add to the collection.

This book was so cute and creative, first children’s book I have read by this author and will definitely being reading this book to all my nieces and nephews.
It starts off with a little boy named Caspian on his un-birthday with a present from his grand-father and a present from his mother under his bed. The first present from his grand-father has a brown hat inside and the second present had a small stone in it. Caspian goes down stairs and realizes he can hear peoples thoughts with his new hat.
He finds a new friend with his hat and problem solves with his stone (Thinking Stone).
Has a very cute ending and such a creative way to teach kids how to problem solve.

Once wearing the hat, he realizes he is hearing his mother and grandfather talking without them moving their mouths. Upon asking his family members why that is, he finds out that the hat is a mind reading hat and the rock is a thinking rock! He uses both items to find his next surprise!
I read this book to my son for his bedtime story tonight and he enjoyed it. Since this is the first book we have read from this series, my son and I were confused as to what an Unbirthday was. Other than that the book was exciting for young readers. My son now wants his own Unbirthday.

The Mind-Reading Hat is the sixth book in the Invisible Magic Wand series by Lois Wickstrom. Right from the get-go this book grabs your attention with the bright and interesting illustrations that accompany the storyline. It’s Caspian’s unbirthday again- and this time it comes with a mind-reading hat and a fun adventure. I found this to be a fun children’s story that has a cute adventure to follow, colourful illustrations, fun, educational elements/lessons, and a touch of fancy. As with the other books in this series, it is a slightly quirky tale that proved to be fun and engaging- feeding both the imagination, as well providing a few lessons along the way. Suitable for children aged 4 to 8. Happy reading!

Another Unbirthday for Caspian. This is a great story for children! It is based on the relationship between a boy and his grandfather. In this story Caspians gift from his grandfather is a findora, just another word for hat. But this had allowed Caspian to hear the voices of those around him. I am loving this series. It keeps the children engaged and keeps the parents reading to their children, just a little longer. It is also easy enough for beginning readers. This author takes another step in Caspian’s adventures, as he continues this relationship with his grandfather. The pictures are also fun to look at as they also tell the story. I recommend this book to all parents of young children.
