Lottery Of Secrets By Nadija Mujagic- Review By Kerry Carr

Lottery of SecretsLottery of Secrets by Nadija Mujagic
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Lottery Series. This is a psychological Thriller with lots of twists and turns. I was gripped from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. I like the first book that it’s part of a series and was left with an open ending so i can’t wait to find out what happens next.
My heart went out to Lynn. She has a traumatic and a scary life living with her partner is abusive. It’s been a tough life walking on eggshells to avoid beatings. And now she has found out that she is dying of cancer.
When she finally gets some good luck in the form of a lottery win, Lynn knows what she must do to make sure she can die in peace and that isn’t leave it to her abusive partner.
However once he finds out about the win he starts making plans that Lynn has no intention of making happen.
As Lynn struggles with her illness while sorting out her win there is more dangerous elements. At first Lynn was sure it would be her partner that would kill her for the money, however things take a sinister turn when a stranger becomes an even bigger risk and threat to her life.
How far are they prepared to go to get their hands on Lynn’s money.

This is a story of danger, angst, secrets and lies which makes it a rollercoaster of a read.

Mission Target (Jake Wolfe Thrillers Book 7) by Mark Nolan – Review by Shannen Kern

Mission Target (Jake Wolfe, # 7)Mission Target by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have loved every book in the Jake Wolfe Thriller Series, but this one may be my absolute favorite! This is the seventh book in the series and while I think reading the entire series provides the best experience, you can read this as a standalone. There may be minor confusion concerning the characters with no background, but the author does a pretty great job of getting you caught up to speed. Jake, a Marine, and Cody, his retired war dog, consistently find themselves in dicey situations that are quite literally life-and-death. The amount of time invested in the characters and plot are evident as this author has created a completely captivating story. I can’t recommend this series enough! I am ecstatic to see what thrilling adventures the next book has in store for us!

My favorite duo is back! Jake is a war veteran and Cody is his canine companion from their war days together. Jake’s special skill is finding trouble wherever he goes. This time around it’s a bomb-maker in Florida who sets his sights on Jake once they’re onto him. Will Jake and Cody be able to find the criminal before he causes a catastrophe? This author does such an amazing job weaving an incredible storyline with suspense and mystery that is difficult to put down. I also appreciated the description of the scenery as it made it feel like I was there in Florida! I highly recommend this entire series, but if you want just one fast-paced thriller, don’t miss out on this one!

Mission Target (Jake Wolfe Thrillers Book 7) by Mark Nolan – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

Mission Target (Jake Wolfe, # 7)Mission Target by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mission target is the 7th book in the Jake Wolf series, but you don’t have to read them all, or in order. Within the first couple pages, Jake and Cody and their jobs and history are already laid out and summarized. This book follows Jake and Cody as they hunt down terrorists who are importing drugs, with the plan to kill millions of Americans. Like the other books, there is added fluff around the other characters to round out the story. Sarah experiences a little bit of drama and threat in this story, which built on her character. Jake’s “cousin” makes several appearances and has an ongoing support role, and the CIA agents are developed a bit more in this story. I’m not sure how much is accurate with regards to the police/CIA work processes, and the trial… but it was a good read. I like the section the author added at the end, summarizing his research that went into the book. I always enjoy this series, but am glad each one wraps up and doesn’t end in a cliffhanger.

Deadly Weapon (Jake Wolfe, #5)Deadly Weapon by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the fifth book in the Jake Wolfe Thrillers Series, and it has made itself a staple in my library. I get tremendously excited when I hear there is another book in the series coming out. The amount of times Jake and Cody have saved others increases with each book, but have they met their match? This threat is the biggest yet, and it just seems like they are up against insurmountable odds. Full of suspense, danger, and twists around each chapter, you’ll find yourself struggling to put this book down just so you can find out what happens next. I do enjoy that the author brings in characters from past books in the series, but you can still read this as a standalone. You’ll run to pick up the rest of the series once you read one!

Mission Target (Jake Wolfe Thrillers Book 7) by Mark Nolan – Review by Santana Hicks

Mission Target (Jake Wolfe, # 7)Mission Target by Mark Nolan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 7th book in the Jake Wolfe series. I read the first book ‘Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie’ before I read this one and I was somewhat lost. In order to really know everyone, I would suggest reading all the books in order. I kind of thought that it could be stand alone which, I mean technically it could. The author writes in vivid detail so even though I clearly missed a lot throughout books 2-6, I was able to catch on after a bit of reading. The author’s writing came a long way from book 1 of the series. This book seemed to flow more easily and had a lot less filler. Plus the characters are written in more detail. I honestly did not like the way the author wrote female characters in the first book of the series but in this book, the females are written differently. Although they all seem to be eye candy, they have more personality traits written which makes a redemption of the author in my books.

Jake is a sought out Mr. Fix-it when it comes to taking out threats on the country. Him and his very smart dog, Cody, work together to do what has to be done to make the streets safe. This time there is a drug threat, wiping out a chunk of the population. Horse Tranquilizer mixed with fentanyl causing deadly overdoses all over. Jake is trying to stop the supplier from smuggling it into the States but the problem is finding out who the king pin is. Once again, himself and Cody are at the top of someones kill list.

On top of that, he finds a dead body of a woman who looks eerily similar to his girlfriend, Sarah. She starts receiving threats and Jake takes it upon himself to try to protect her while carrying out his very long to-do list. Everyone is in danger and it’s up to Jake to rescue them all, including himself.

With a lot of action, unpredictable twists and turns, and an adorable intelligent dog, you will not be able to put this book down.

I have loved each book in this series, and that fondness seems to grow with each installment! It’s filled with danger, drama, and mysterious thrills around each corner. Jake finds himself in a sticky situation with a terrifying cartel. Cody, his war dog, is there to help throughout the story, and I absolutely love their relationship! I also enjoy the ferocity in which Jake protects everyone that he loves. This book was incredibly difficult to put down as this author has a way of just pulling you into Jake’s world and keeping you there! While I recommend reading the series for the full effect, this can definitely be read as a standalone. Pick it up for a fast-paced action thrill ride!

Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie (Jake Wolfe Thrillers Book 1) by Mark Nolan – Review by Santana Hicks

Dead Lawyers Don't Lie (Jake Wolfe, #1)Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie by Mark Nolan
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Jake Wolfe is a photojournalist. When on a job to get some incriminating photos of a well known lawyer, Jake ends up witnessing and photographing the lawyers murder. Now he has a target on his back. Luckily as a war veteran, Jake has some training for situations such as this which will help him to survive. This starts a game of cat and mouse between Jake and the murderer.

The murderer is an assassin for hire named ‘The Artist’. He is good at his job and now some guy may take him down just by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Going after Jake is personal and he will stop at nothing to take him down. At the same time, continuing his original job of killing wealthy lawyers. Jake can only evade the inevitable so many times right?

This book was alright as an introductory book to Jake’s character as this series will be about him but in my opinion, I felt like the book was too repetitive and predictable. I hated most of the characters, especially the women. I honestly felt like the author dislikes women and it showed in their writing. I especially hated the dog killing cop. She should not be a police officer for so many reasons. There were lots of plot twists and action but it was hard to fully immerse myself into the story. I am hoping that as the series progresses, it will flow more easily.

Not many authors continue to knock it out of the park three books in, but luckily this is one of the few! Jake and Cody have become two of my very favorite characters that I’ve read about not only this year, but throughout all the series I’ve read. Their relationship is the very definition of “man’s best friend”. The other characters throughout these books are always relatable and all of them are integral to the story. Jake always has his hands full with such dangerous and interesting situations, but will he make it out of this one? I could not put this book down and I have a relatively short attention span. I recommend reading from the beginning of the series for the full effect, but don’t pass it up!

I’m happy to say that this author has accomplished a great feat as the second book is even better than the first! The suspense grips you from the beginning and never lets go, and the danger feels tangible the entire time. I have read one book by this author before that I really enjoyed, so I was excited to start this series! Something that really stood out to me was how realistic the characters felt. I was invested in them quite quickly and felt like I was experiencing the story instead of reading it. The drama was at a perfect level that keeps you engaged and interested in the outcome, but not so much that it overwhelmed the plot. This story kept me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning to the last page! I highly recommend picking this up and letting yourself get lost in Jake’s world. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 7th book in the Jack Wolfe series. I have loved everyone of these books and I am amazed at how the author keeps creating stories that are different with different threats but still gripping, full of twists and turns and danger.

Jack is an amazing character and over the series I have really fallen for him and his ex- war dog Cody. Together they have faced some dangerous situations and this one is no different.

When a dangerous drug starts making its presents felt in the form of dead bodies, Jake is contact to put a stop to it. All he needs to do is eliminate the big boss, which will stop the supply and elimate the drug. Should be simple right.
However, that is never the case with Jake’s missions and as he tries to destroy this new enemy harming the American people he also puts himself in a position with a target on his back yet again.
This is a story of corruption, greed, danger, and a serial killer who is very deranged which leads to fast paced, action packed story where it is a race against time for Jake to destroy the enemy before the enemy destroys him.
This book is an edge of your seat read that you will not be able to put down. I actually read it in one sitting as I couldn’t stop turning pages.
I love this author’s work and am always left gasping for air at the end of the books and this one left me feeling exactly the same.

Mission Target (Jake Wolfe Thrillers Book 7) by Mark Nolan. This is another exciting addition to the Jack Wolfe Thriller series and can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading them in order to get a better feel for the characters. I have loved this series so much its probably my favorite I’ve read this year. Jack and Cody, his 4 legged companion are in the and both suffer from PTSD. Jack sometimes does things that might be considered illegal but he only does it to save someone or fix something. Jack has found out there is a new drug being used as a weapon against all US Citizens and if Jack doesn’t find out who it is and stop him it will wipe out the US. When women that look like Jack’s girlfriend start showing up dead it becomes personal and he will go covert to save her. The messes Jack and Cody get in are so good and so bad at the same time. I love the writing because I always feel like I’m there in the story. These are the kind of books that you will think about long after you have finished. Grab a hold of your seat and read this amazing series. You won’t be disappointed! I hope there is another one!

What a wonderful crime solving book this one was. Seriously finished in a day because I could not put it down. I love how the author makes you feel like you are watching this all play out as though it was a movie.

Jake is a former Marine that has a beloved K9 Cody that helps keep America safe! Jake and Cody are tasked with finding and stopping the distribution of a drug that will cause devastation in mass numbers.

All the while his girl friend Sarah is fighting her own battle as well. Along with some of his close “familia”. The question remains will Jake be able to solve this puzzle before it’s too late or can he stop the destruction from becoming worse?

This is not my first book by this author and it won’t be my last. I love the way it’s written with the military aspect still heavily in there. I look forward to more from this author!

I was sucked into Mission Target immediately. The author has a way of pulling you in and keeping the reader intrigued. I didn’t want to put the book down, I only did because I couldn’t keep my eyes open. The only one more chapter game didn’t win the battle.. lol
Jake and his dog Cody have been contracted to rid the world of evil. And this instance is by the secret service to bring down a drug lord that has a secret vendetta against the United States. Jake, a former marine, doesn’t mind taking care of tasks off the book, if for the better good. Unfortunately it lands a target on his back because he’s put a dent in this deadly vendetta operation. Fortunately for Jake he doesn’t just have law enforcement behind him but the Italian mafia as well.
Will he succeed in getting tranq off the streets?
The author takes the reader on a journey through many crimes and incidents. All of which in the end seem to be related. It seemed like a lot at first but as the story gains steam everything shifts into place, giving the reader the “I want to know what happens next feeling.”
This is the first book I’ve read in this series, so I’m looking forward to going back and digging into the other ones. Also other potential books by this author as well.
While I do that, you should read this!

I love the concept for this book. It explores the concept of being careful what you wish for. I mean I don’t know what person doesn’t wish to win the lottery. It seems as if trouble follows Logan McKenna around wherever she goes. While visiting the Oregon coast to check in with the school that she’s partnering with, she finds a dead body. Another one. It seems as though Logan attracts all the dead bodies. Then to make matters worse, the police’s number one suspect is someone from the school. Logan is set to prove that their friend could not have committed the crime no matter what evidence they “tie to him”. In another can’t put down book, Logan is racing against time to try and figure out what exactly happened and who did it.

This book was a decent read for me. I had a little bit of a hard time being engaged in the story but that could be because I do not usually choose books with some of the plot lines in here. Mission Target is the 7th book in the Jake Wolfe Thrillers series by Mark Nolan. I liked a lot of things about this book. Mostly being the main two characters Jake and Cody, the relationship that the author builds between the protagonist and his K-9 is really good. I also liked the storyline, although I did feel it was a bit busy at times with lots of different storylines happening at the same time, it could get a bit confusing. The story follows marine veteran/volunteer officer/lawyer Jake as he works with all aspects of law enforcement to help take down the organised crime that is flooding San Francisco with drugs. This is a very fast paced story with lots of different elements, which I am pleased all came together at the end. This is the first book I have read of this series, I would be interested in reading more.

Master of the Abyss (Painted Souls Series Book 3) by Rob Samborn – Review by Jenni Bishop

Master of the Abyss (Painted Souls, #3)Master of the Abyss by Rob Samborn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Master of the Abyss is sadly the third and final book and the end to this unique historical thriller Painted Souls series. It is a fast-paced ride and as with the other books in the series I was fully lost in the story. It is a tale that takes place between the past and present around the world but predominantly in 16th century Venice and is rich in history.

Eternal purgatory, an age-old journal, lost and tortured souls, ancient relics, global supremacy are just some of the things Julia and friends encounter in this gripping tale. They are in a race against time and in a deadly game to stop an unhinged and dangerous man who will stop at nothing.
Rob cleverly woven intricate threads of magical realism and fantasy where his vivid narrative transports the reader in time and place as you explore the beauty and wonder of Venice and the darkness, secrets and lies beneath. This clever and multilayered plot is compelling and complex with danger lurking in the shadows, suspense that is palpable, tension so thick you can cut it with a knife. There are twists and turns that you don’t know what is going to happen next.

I was so lost in the story in another time and place that my husband kept checking on me because I was so quiet and hadn’t moved for hours.

I can’t wait to see what comes next from Rob.

If you are a lover of historical thrillers, you are going to love this series.

In this story, someone is using a type of drug that causes many people to die with no reason to. But when the wrong people use it they use it as a dangerous weapon to destroy a lot of lives. Once again Jake in relay on his war dog Cody to find the mastermind of this drug before more people die.
