I fell in love with the setting and characters of this novel right away. Matthews definitely has a way of transporting her readers into 16th century Scotland taking us to the story of Maggie. I was honestly also very eager to read this series after reading that it is a time travel fantasy novel filled with romance, family, murder, suspense and so much more. Especially the popularity of the Outlander series, this book will also be the favorite of many other readers out there! Cannot wait to read the next one in this series!

Thunder On The Moor: A Time Travel Romance is the first book in the Thunder on the Moor series. This series is ongoing, and I highly recommend reading it in order. I started with the second book and was so glad to go back and read this one. The story is a fun adventure in time, with 20th-century and 16th-century characters merging into one story. I like the main character Maggie. She is from the 20th century and was raised as an independent spirit with adventure in her heart. When she is taken into the past by her father she discovers that the past is just as exciting as her father had told her.
I really enjoy the glimpse into the past and how many of the same conflicts echo what we see in the current day. I look forward to seeing what adventures Maggie takes us on in the future books in the series.

The author really has you on the edge of your seat as you read this final book in the Thunder one the Moor series! The author is very descriptive down to the language used to portray these wonderful characters, and you sit in suspense as you wait impatiently for the next twist and turn! I was so excited to get to book 3, AND it did NOT disappoint! You will fall in love with and be incredibly irritated by some characters, wonder, wait, what just happened, and then reach the end better off than when you started. This is a great book and I am looking forward to other series from this intelligent author!

I will say this, the lives of Maggie and her suitor Will continue to be challenged in book 2 of this series. I was in awe of the pure love shown by Maggie as she saved her love from certain death! Being from the 20th century helped her a lot in this case, and she’s lucky no one knows of this. With all of the turmoil that is Will’s accused crimes of being with her, Will still charges on fighting tooth and nail every step of the way to secure his love for Maggie. This second book in the series will definitely keep you entertained with the antics of her new family, along with those of her own. I’m one again excited to see the next book in the series and how the saga ends for these two in love. Now on to book three!

This book was incredible! I was in shock just from the prologue! From time travel to violent raids, to the unfair treatment of women and scandalous men, this book has it all! It would not be the masterpiece it is without including love, heartbreak, deceit, and the suspense of this original story. With some patience, it will be well worth the time it takes to finish the book and you’ll be more than ready for book number two! Happy reading!

Lovers Maggie Armstrong and Will Foster have fought border reivers, their own families, and even the dreaded gallows to protect their forbidden love.It seems as though they may finally have there happily ever after until they stumble upon Johnnie Hetherington’s body found brutally murdered close to their home a week before they are to be wed. Will and the rest of his family are ruled out and the wedding proceeds. Only then do the Armstrong’s attack in force determined to bring Maggie back to them whatever the consequences. Fearing for Maggie’s life, Will implores Dylan to get her to safety. Even if it means taking her 450 years into the future back to her own time, while leaving his own love Annie in the process. With a degrading amulet and two broken hearts will either of them ever see their true love again?
This series just keeps getting better, Andrea Matthews has done it again! I really loved the mystery aspect included in this installment. I think it was really cool seeing almost a side by side comparison of the sixteenth and twentieth centuries. It makes you realize how different things were back then and makes you wonder what lengths you would go for your own love. There were so many moments in this book that had me excitedly gasping and nervously biting my nails! The characters are so well written I could feel each one of their emotions like they were my own. I feel the NEED for Maggie and Will to have a happy end! I also felt there was a message of non toxic relationships and getting through traumas with love and support from those you choose to love. Another wonderful read!!! Definitely recommend!

Running for their lives Maggie Armstrong finally admits the love she has for Englishman Will Foster. He completes the void in her heart. After already saving Will’s life from her family’s brutality, she feels all hope is lost when Will is charged with treason for trysting with a scot. After news of their wedding plan is leaked to the warden, Maggie is forced back to Scotland to her uncle who continues wedding arrangements, the wicked Ian Rutherford the man that murdered her father, all while Will answers to the gallows for his crimes. Will Maggie be able to thwart her family’s plans or will her heart die along with Will?
This book was the perfect continuation to the series, it had a really nice flow.you could really feel the emotions between the characters. It really tugs at the heartstrings. I didn’t think this book series could get any better but I was so anxious throughout the whole book!! I needed to know Will and Maggie’s fate. I also really love the relationship that Dylan shares with Maggie. It makes me think that family is not always people who are related by blood but by people you choose. Definitely a satisfying read that gives all the feels and much more!!!!

Maggie Armstrong grew up listening to her father Robert tell her wondrous tales of sixteenth century Scotland, of blood feuds and border raids. She memorized all the portraits from his collection dreaming about what that life would be like. Never would she have believed that her father was one of these infamous border reivers, not even when he told her his plan to go back to his old Scottish home with her by his side. Thinking that it’s just another archaeological dig, with flourish, she agrees to accompany him until she ends up four hundred and fifty years in the past. Now she is living through the old stories first hand, meeting family she only dreamed of, even seeing Will Foster, the man in one of the portraits she’s always been drawn to. Intrigue, treachery, and revenge abound when a quick betrothal, without her consent, causes Maggie to question everything. Will she even be able to get home?
I love reading books about this time period and I absolutely adore the accents!!! I could definitely feel the love and protectiveness that Robert has for his daughter and that Edward has towards both of them. I couldn’t help but put myself in Maggie’s place and think of what a culture shock it would be to end up 450 years in the past. Or what it would be like to meet your family from back then. I love the thought of meeting my ancestors in real life. It was interesting and unexpected! Funny and well paced, I could not put it down! I can’t wait to read the next book!!!!

This is the third book in the series of time traveling, romance, and the love and heartache that makes up a family. Reading the first two books is highly recommended before reading this one.

The story picks up in the past and the author weaves such a fantastic, realistic view, I feel like I am right there. The most important things of that era are highlighted here — the love and steadfast dedication of family, the wickedness that can turn some men to do evil things, and the struggle they had just to survive. All of your emotions are brought out within the pages of this book.

Then we are brought back to modern day. You don’t think you can take much more of the roller-coaster, but the ride is not yet over. So much more happens to make you feel both love and make you want to weep. The story and characters are riveting, I felt so much for so many of them.

If you are a fan of time travel with romance, adventure, and action, this series is for you.

This is my first read from this author and It took me for an absolute ride. The amount of emotion and heartache throughout this story shattered me at some points. Sadly I am starting from book 3, and so I plan to read book 1 and 2 to get a full grasp on the story as aw whole.

This historical tale captures the blood feud between the Clans of Britain and Scotland. We are provided a vivid account of the love and loss for everyone the feud touched. We are taken on this thrilling journey experiencing time travel, murder, drama, and the depths one will endure for love. Maggie and Will were such strong characters and their love knew no bounds regardless of what time period they were in. The characters as a whole I felt connected to, and every twist just entangled me more within their stories.

This is the third book in a series. The books definitely build on each other, so it is best to read them in order. Also, there are a lot of characters, so it is easy to get lost if you haven’t gotten to know them all along. The series is a time travel romance. Maggie’s father, Robbie, has been killed. Her wedding to Will is coming up if they can fight through her relatives and someone killing Johnnie Hetherington. It was a wonderful story and hard to put down. This is the third novel in this series. These are NOT stand alone books. If you try to read two or three without having read the previous books you will not have all the information you need to move forward. This story keeps getting more wild, dramatic and crazy as it goes on. There is so much action and suspense sometimes it is hard to know where to focus your attention. That said I am enamored with the characters enough that I can’t wait to find out what happens to them. This storyline has become an absolute obsession for me. As always the author added all those well researched historical facts and details that just make these stories pop… and makes her one of my my favorite authors. Another added bonus is the maps, family trees, and glossaries of obscure words. Now comes the hard part … waiting for book 4!!

I had high hopes for this second installment in this series and I was not disappointed. Once again this author does her research well. All those historically accurate details really are a huge draw for me. One thing I would note is sometimes there is so much going on it is hard to follow and you wish everything would slow down and have all those little details that really flush a book out. I love the descriptions of Scotland and really feel like I can see the image in the way it is described. The characters are lovable and have well developed back stories. Am reading book three today! Can’t wait to see what happens to Will and Maggie next.

After reading the description I was immediately intrigued and couldn’t wait to dive right in. Right off the bat there is a huge plot hole and because my brain got stuck in it I had a hard time enjoying the rest of the book. The pace was so fast the author forgot those little details that bring a story to life. However, I did finish the book and am now interested enough to want to read the next in the series. One thing I am super picky about is making sure an author knows what they are talking about and this book was well researched. I enjoyed the characters and have hope that the next installment will not fall into the “too fast paced” category.

Shake Loose the Border (Thunder on the Moor Book 3) by Andrea Matthews. This book was sooo good. Its a time traveling, paranormal romance. Its the story of Maggie and Will who are getting married soon. One day they find Johnnie Hetherington’s body tied to a tree on their property. Of course the police question Will and his family though its pretty obvious that they didn’t do it. It is decided the Wedding can proceed but shortly after the other Clan attacks them sending Maggie going back to another time to be safe. Will finds himself in trouble again and its going to take everything Dylan has to save him. The Scottish time seems so beautiful and I truly felt like I was there. I really believe this can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading them in order to truly understand all that’s going on. Will Dylan be able to save Will or will he end up losing everything? Read this amazing paranormal, time traveling romance!

Even better than the first! Will and Maggie pick up right where the previous book left off, the adventure that started nowhere close to being over. Maggie herself grew a lot as a character in the book, which was great to see because in the period that the book takes place in, many women were seen but not heard. It was a quick read for me and every time I thought that I was going to get a break there was more added to the story that kept me drawn in. A definite rollercoaster of emotions for me but I’m really excited to read the next book in the series!

Will Foster and Maggie Armstrong return and it is the week before their wedding, they are over the moon that it is coming to pass, especially so soon because there happens to be a priest who is passing by, but they are still worried about the Armstrong families reaction to their hand fasting, so the sooner they are married, the better they will feel. So as Will’s mother gets all hands on deck to begin the preparations, Will and Maggie are finding that they have very little time to themselves, an obvious ploy by his parents to make sure that they stay as true to waiting until they are married as they can, much to Wills annoyance.

As they escape for an afternoon together, Maggie comes across the body of Johnnie Hetherington in the woods looking worse for wear and in a state that distresses Maggie, but despite all the betrayals he has been at the heart of, she doesn’t understand why he has been left that way. As Will tries to explain it and settle Maggie’s heart and body to a somewhat normal state, they are interrupted by Sergeant Richie Carnaby arriving to request Will’s presence at his fathers home so that he can question them all about Johnnie, although how he already knows about it is one mystery and the other is who could have done Johnnie in when it is found that the Fosters had nothing to do with it.

Meanwhile, word has gotten around that their nuptials have been arranged and so Geordie Armstrong decides to take the matter into his own hands and still believing that he can change Maggie’s mind and get her to see reason and marry Ian Rutherford, he calls together both families to plan a raid on the Foster family and end the blood feud once and for all. As time grows short, the wedding is moved up a day and it is a good job that it was as the Armstrong’s descend on the Fosters and a bloody and violent battle begins between the two families. As the fighting intensifies, Will implores Dylan to get Maggie to safety and see that she escapes, but has to promise that he will follow shortly, however, a certain Ian Rutherford has other ideas and goes onto the attack when he spots Will across the battlefield. When Dylan settles Maggie and promises to return, he goes back, but he can see that the stone is disintegrating and may only have one more trip, so despite his misgivings, he heads back after Will, but what will he find when he gets there and will there be any time for him to say goodbye to Annie, the woman who has captured his heart?

This is another action packed trip into historical Britain and the Border Wars between the Reivers who live there, as blood feuds continue and both love and heartache dog their lives, but as they do a lot of living and laughing in between the two this charming story unfolds as a rollercoaster of emotion plays out over a beautiful landscape.

Fans of Outlander will love this trip back in time! A story of adventure, romance, and time travel; many aspects of Outlander are found in the book, but the writer has definitely made it her story. Many young readers will relate to Maggie Armstrong, who has been transported back in time after finding out a decade’s old secret that her father Robert and his best friend Edward kept hidden. Watching her navigate the major culture shock, there were moments that I definitely empathized with her character and the struggles that she was facing while trying to come to terms that everything she thought she understood about her life and the world around her not always true.

The book is not for someone who gives up on reading easily, as there are definitely times that I had to force myself to read, not due to lack of interest though. Many times throughout the book the details become tedious, but that is also a nod to the writer, as there were many times throughout the novel that it was evident there must have been hours of research poured into writing the book. Despite both of these things, it was easy for me to finish the book in a few days and I am very much excited to read the next book in the series!

I’ve been looking forward to reading the latest instalment of this series and the author did not disappoint at all. The story was as well written and exciting as the previous two and I loved being transported back in time with the characters. The authors descriptive writing hasn’t wavered over the three books, I continue to be able to imagine exactly what I am reading at time. In this third book we see Maggie and Will preparing for their special day but with time travel involved its clear things aren’t going to go to plan! I really feel like I know these characters so well now and I love the twists and turns in their story.

While this is the third installment to this series, I honestly have to say that it is by far the most emotional. The feelings between our main characters and thr drama go so deep that it was really a powerful read until the very last page. There was just so much realism in this installment that you find yourself right along side Will and Maggie, and enduring all the pain, agony, and more they they endure. While the flow was beautiful it really was full of twists and turns and you never knew from one page to the next what would happen next. While this is the second book in this series I personally think it’s even better then the first. This second installment is full of so much romance, drama, adventure, betrayal, tragedy and so much more that our author really pulls us so much deeper this time. After reading the first installment in this series I couldn’t wait to read this one. I really do recommend readying all of these in order just to get all of the details on our main characters. While I really thought that Will and Maggie would get a break in this book, there was just as much danger and drama in this book and they were really put through the ringer. So if your looking for a historical romance to read this weekend, pick up this series today.

While this book was full of so many different things I really love the way that the plot ebed and flowed. This writer gave us an incredible well developed story, with fantastic characters, and she really just does a fantastic job of pulling you right in. This book is full of time travel, excitement, enchantment, romance and so much more I just simply couldn’t put it down. With the time travel our heroine has a lot of new things that she has to adjust to, and the descriptions make you feel like your right there with her. But I found myself wondering if I would be able to adjust to everything that she had to adjust to. So if your looking for a great new historical romance with some time travel thrown in, then I highly recommend this one.
